Could possibly do that @susiedaisy1912 but would my pen go out of date? (Out of the 30 days of opening) I'd need to start new one at the start of December I think. I'll work it out as it could be a good option.

I think everyone on here thinks I want to pig out but I just want to enjoy a few days of Christmas with my family - just as I will be every other year from now on! I won't be on MJ next year so will have to do it the old fashioned way then!

Pinkyp22 · 22/09/2024 18:13

You could easily enjoy Christmas whilst taking a low dosage Mounjaro still surely?

I think its more the fact that mounjaro is an appetite suppressant, so when you stop taking it, its natural you will consume more as you say when you eat 'normal'.
When you say you're eating well and keeping active now and definitely will do this for good without any food related issues - genuinely I dont understand why anyone would be taking mounjaro

Probably contraversal opinion but I really do think its an amazing tool for people who have uhealthy relationships with food, and should be restricted for people with type 2 diabetes and those who have a considerable amount of weight to lose.

Hey, are you sure it's actually with royal mail? Zava have confirmed that they print the despatch label but don't actually pack and send packages the date they show as despatched. Usually if you check the royal mail tracking label it says waiting to be received. Then when it's received it's delivered the next day.

Obviously you might know this and it's actually showing as received and in their warehouse. If so, ignore me!

I thought that with zava. Said dispatched Friday 8pm time.. but royal mail said they got it out for delivery Thursday. . I queried it and zava said the Friday when it says dispatched is when the label is generated and it was actually sent Wednesday and received Thursday.

Start weight. 9/8 - 17st 5lb. bmi 39.2

Today's weight 27/9 15st 10lb. bmi 35.5

Currently on 5mg and may well stay on it for the next jab as it's working a treat. I think that's total loss of 1st 9lb or 23lb? In six weeks. Amazing. I'm bloody delighted

Louboo3 · 22/09/2024 19:33

where is the cheapest for a 15mg pen at the moment? I was going to just reorder from health express but they are out of stock

MabelSpan · 22/09/2024 19:49

Congratulations @WitchyBits You are doing so well, well done!

Congratulations @WitchyBits You are doing so well, well done!

I've got say again, it doesn't feel real. I've still had treats. Some take away salt and Pepper chicken balls ( with stir fry veg) , a bar of top deck chocolate over a week, a few drinks. I have had a lot of veg heavy soups and collagen rich stews, protein rich yoghurt, and tons and tons of jelly made with extra collagen and real fruit and veg juice. Oh and home made sauerkraut is my newest addiction. And helps to keep things moving along with porridge enriched with inulin. Is been ridiculously easy tbh. I do have one day a week where it's injection day the day after and I do eat more as it seems to taper off but it always evens out at a loss over the week.

Thanks for sharing your experience but I'm still not convinced, it was over 20 degrees here yesterday and the ice packs would have already defrosted by then, which means the 30 day period will have started and I'm not due to start the pen yet, I ordered early when they sent the reminder, typically first time I've not waited until I need it. With the amount we pay I think we deserve to receive it in the correct conditions, presumably Eli Lilly state between 2 and 8 degrees for a reason.

I didn’t just make this up - I am giving you a direct quote from Eli Lily themselves. Just contact them and ask them to assess. You’ll get the same response.

@Pinkyp22 I would have qualified for MJ on the lower BMI of 27 because I have a heart condition and chronic hypertension.

The reason I've taken it as I was struggling to find the willpower and it's a vicious cycle for me as I hate exercising when I'm overweight and I feel more confident going to the gym etc at a slightly lower weight which makes it easier for me.

Paperwhite13 · 23/09/2024 08:56

Hello! Its been two weeks since I last checked in. @Jimmyneutronsforehead I'm so sorry to hear about your husband but glad that he's out of hospital.

I've just come back from holiday and only gained 2lbs which I'm really happy with - good food choices but questionable alcohol ones.

SW: 240.8lbs (17st 2lbs)
CW: 197.8 (14st 1lbs)

Total loss is 43lbs and just another 43.8lbs to go. Almost half way there!

Next scale target is 195.6lbs where I'll no longer be obese! Just overweight 😅😂.

I'm moving up to 7.5 this week and hoping for no side effects but we'll see.

AnnieMcFanny · 23/09/2024 09:02

My pens are sent from the Uk to the Middle East by DHL and u think the journey from packing to receiving takes 4-5 days. The ice packs have meted by the time I receive the package but they’re also wrapped in insulating fabric and still very cold.
Could it be that people are worrying too much about how cold the ice packs are when receiving the package.

FlappyFish · 23/09/2024 09:17

Hi all! I thought I’d check back in on the main thread.

I have now taken my final dose of MJ. I started in February at 14.3/1 (I write that each time lol as I gained two pounds from ordering to first jab day).

Current weight 9.6.

I am 5’7.

I’m now exercising twice a week and building that up and I love it. Ha. Who knew. Plus it’s far easier when not lugging extra weight round.

Has anyone had a bit of liquid come out when you remove the needle? I did my 2nd 5mg last night and it’s the first time it’s happened. It was probably because I was rushing a bit but now I’m concerned I haven’t had the full dose

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 23/09/2024 10:40

@MelainesLaugh yes I did once when I didn't wait for the count of 5 before removing the needle. It will be a negligible amount and won't have any impact unless there was a huge puddle on your skin😊

Pinkbendyman · 23/09/2024 10:42

Congratulations @FlappyFish that's awesome 🤩

You were one of the original MJers when I first started in May, so a huge thank you for sharing your experience and being such a huge inspiration to me ☺️

Yes, please come back from time to time and let us know how things are going.

I used to get this quite a bit and used to worry as well (but never ended up being a problem)

Then I realised it was actually the liquid from priming that was left on the outside of the needle/pen.

Now after priming I shake any off then inject and liquid left on my skin hasn't happened since ...this aligns with my theory that liquid on the skin was actually priming rather than some of the actual dose ...hope that makes sense.

Although as lots of people above said if it is actually some of the dose it will be so small that it shouldn't make a difference!

GingerLemonTea · 23/09/2024 11:12

Things have slowed down here
After pen 1(2.5) - 10.2 pounds
After pen 2(2.5) - 11 pounds
After pen 3(5) - 9.4 pounds
After pen 4(5) - 7.6 pounds
After pen 5(5) -2 pounds
So today I move up to a 7.5 pen tho I will bridge a little first the same as I did with first 5 pen by titrating up with counting clicks to ease side effects.
I’m Ok with the “stall” over past 4 weeks as I feel it’s a way to bed in/ consolidate the losses if you know what I mean. I don’t like to go too fast. Am hoping for a better result with this next pen though.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 23/09/2024 11:24

@GingerLemonTea oooo, that's a really interesting way of recording it! Congrats on your loss so far 👏 I have a third 5mg pen in the fridge to start next week so will be interested to see if I follow the same pattern.

Off to calculate my 'per pen' losses...

LucyBnotG · 23/09/2024 11:42

@FlappyFish Well done! You must feel fantastic. 🍾

ThirdStorm · 23/09/2024 12:43

Christmas is my danger zone. Every year I’ve gained and I’d just keep going. I need MJ to keep me on the straight and narrow and making good choices! I’m not sure I’ve really learned how not to reward myself with food yet. 🤣🤣

Me too and tbh, I'm dreading it. I will hopefully be on maintenance by then. The whole month seems to revolve around food and drink and social pressure to do lots of both. I've had tentative discussions with my OH re doing things differently this year but not met with much enthusiasm! I don't want to eat and drink like normal but equally, don't want to in a constant state of vigilance and denial. Like expecting an ex-addict to stay straight in an opium den. I'll be glad to see January.

3wDavid · 23/09/2024 14:23

I’m also thinking about Christmas and have the concept of a plan:

  • indulge on good quality meat(s)
  • limit alcohol (but enjoy some lovely red wines)
  • avoid cheeses, dough-y dishes and sweets

Some sides I have bookmarked already:

  • cauliflower potato puree (50/50 ratio, same taste and texture but healthier)
  • Green beans with orange and walnut gremolata
  • roasted sweet potatoes
  • roasted butternut squash salad with tahini and pomegranate
  • balsamic roasted carrots
  • roasted brussel sprouts with balsamic and bacon
  • garlicky kale and cashew salad
The mains would be variations on roast turkey / chicken / steaks / sticky ribs, etc.
FarriersGirl · 23/09/2024 15:20

Fabulous menu @3wDavid It's all round to your house 😋
