Do you have anything else going on in your life right now that could be causing stress?

Also are you supplementing for lost vitamins and eating enough protein?

Hair loss does happen when you're not getting enough intake, and also when you're under a lot of stress or trauma, but can also be hormonal too so worth mentioning it to your GP and getting their advice before quitting especially if the weight loss is going well.

You might want to put more focus on maintaining your current weight for now though rather than losing until you're confident of the reason and have treatment in place.

There's also no harm in stopping if you feel that's the best choice for you, you can always start again later on down the line if you want to.

Most hair loss is temporary, but better to get checked out to be sure.

Thanks for quick reply
No stress whatsoever so don't think it's that.
I am very sensitive to mounjaro and have struggled to eat so think it's either the medication itself or lack of nutrients.
I am taking iron, folate and vit d which I have at times been low on and trying to prioritise protein too.
Think may discuss with my GP but think they may not have any answers other than stopping sadly.

Ask the GP to look at your B vitamin levels and really make sure you're hitting your protein goals for the day. Low B vitamins can also be a cause of hair loss.

I think they will take you seriously. They can't just assume it's the medication as it probably is in this instance but it may be something secondary or separate altogether.

@Smokedsausagesupper hair loss is a pretty common side effect of rapid weight loss. Apparently, it will stop and grow back after a while

Fromthesidelines · 18/09/2024 15:52

@QueenOfHiraeth definitely a club! I had little in the way of suppression until 10. I'm also away this weekend then off on holiday shortly afterwards, so suspect the stall will continue for a few weeks yet. I'm hoping my body is doing a reset and things will track downwards again eventually. When I first started, having read all the successes, I'd hoped to be at target by Christmas. I've revised that to Easter now!

Madferitchick · 18/09/2024 15:57

@Smokedsausagesupper I am experiencing the hair loss too. I've been on MJ since early May and lost almost 2.5 stone - so not super fast loss and I am taking all the vitamins/hitting protein goals etc.

I've lost large amounts of weight before and experienced hair loss every time. Had hoped to avoid it this time due to slower loss but sadly not the case.

It does grow back eventually, but it's doesn't make the distress of daily brushing/washing any less 😬

I've got another 1.5 stone to lose to get to top of healthy bmi but am currently upping my calories to maintain for a bit in a bid to hopefully halt the hair loss 🤞🏻

Doobi · 18/09/2024 16:18

Afternoon,

I've been working out where I am at with some goals.

I started out with a BMI of 52.7, weighing at 129.9kg.

As of today, I weigh 122.6kg and have a BMI of 49.7.

I'm more then happy with this and even though my BMI is still classed as very high/severely obese, it spurs me on even more.

I've decided on my first goal weight and have made a list of mini ways I might reach these, to keep me motivated. I.e.

  • 1st 10% weight loss
  • 1st stone loss
  • Every 7lb loss (financial incentive here to save up for something I'd like)

Those are just some of the things I have set out to do. It helps by keeping a record and seeing things in different ways rather then focusing on just a number.

Safari2020 · 18/09/2024 17:17

@Doobi Keep going!👏

Lastchancefatty · 18/09/2024 19:12

So the mini crisis with my delivery was averted. I don't know whether it was my panicked emails or just a coincidence (cloud don't seem to reply to messages). The dpd page changed from saying Wed 18th delivery and just continued to say "we're expecting your parcel". So this means that it should come Sat as paid for and arranged, but if it comes sooner someone will be home. Fancy updating the status to shipped on Tuesday though, for a Saturday delivery. I am still going to try another provider. I hate all the anxiety around the delivery days which I thought I was solving with the Saturday delivery. Clearly not. I could have saved my money and risked zava again or even med express.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 18/09/2024 19:52

I have been lurking here and read all the posts. I was wondering how you decided whether to go up a dose or not. I have just injected my week 3 injection today, so need to order my next one soon. I have had excellent supression on 2.5mg and am wondering about doing another month on that dose. Is there any reason to go up if I am getting the benefits on the lower dose? Has anyone stayed on the same dose for longer than 4 weeks?

crochetmylifeaway · 18/09/2024 19:58

@Pinkbendyman no sadly not close to my target. I'm taking it 1 stone at a time. I've still 7.4lb to go till I reach 2 stone. I checked and my loss is 0.8lb a week overall so it's moving just very VERY slowly!

I also suffered hair loss at the start but I started drinking clear whey protein to make sure I am getting enough protein and it stopped.

@Itisallgoingtobeok if you have good suppression and are losing weight, absolutely stay on the 2.5! Only move up if those two start to disappear.

I am about to take my 10th jab of 5 mg as it is working really well for me and I have pretty much no side effects at all. I also have a third 5mg pen in the fridge ready to go 😁

I totally agree. I am also still on 5mg and have only just moved up to it having been on 3.75mg for quite a while.
I am generally not moving up the pen strengths unless I am not losing weight.

NippyCrab · 18/09/2024 21:01

@Itisallgoingtobeok hi, I'm on my second month of 2.5 with my 3rd pen coming tomorrow, I won't move up until I feel the effects wearing off and I start munching. I don't want to have full suppression and not eat, I want to feel like I could eat but not be ravenous and have mega cravings in an emotional state. I'm losing between 2 and 2.5lbs a week. Xx

I have also stayed on 5mg, I’m on week 16 now and the suppression is still good.
I would however advise to order the 5mg pen IF the price is the same as the 2.5mg. That way if you feel the need to titrate up at any point during the month you can

GingerLemonTea · 18/09/2024 21:32

I have done 2 x 2.5 pens followed by 3 x 5 pens. I only go up when I feel it wearing off. I am going to 7.5 for the next pen as I have v little suppression now.

Peggy148 · 18/09/2024 23:40

Evening all, I’m feeling a bit low today and need some of the positivity glitter from this brilliant support group! I had a birthday (not a big one) last week and two weekends of celebrations, cake, booze and nice meals means I’m feeling like a bloated blob. Plus I have a house full of crap, tempting food and I have a horrid cold so feel grotty and keep reaching for the bad stuff. And I’m having no real suppression on 7.5mg but still have two doses to go, and have crazy food noise all the time. Tell me there’s a silver lining to my black cloud?!

The food noise is probably not because of the lack of suppression but because you've had a hectic time, youre poorly and if booze has been involved it can raise your stomach acid and make you feel hungry because of the reflux sensations.

Eat some high fibre foods or foods with latex in like dried apricots and figs and see if you can shift some wind and bowel movements, and make sure you're drinking plenty of water between meals but not during.

Prioritise rest and not having any more hectic times, and get your daily protein goals met.

If you still feel the same once you're ready to order your next pen it might be time to titrate up, but I'd put good money on your current and temporary lifestyle alterations having a bigger impact than the medication being ineffective especially if it's worked for you before and the changes match up with your 2 weeks of celebrations.

@Smokedsausagesupper im losing hair too. I was loosing prior to MJ then it stopped for a few months but now it’s started up again. It is bothering me but my hairdresser says I have no bald spots. I’m having bloods done with a routine medical next month so I’m going to mention it. But I’ve lots 25% of my body weight since May so I’m sure that has something to do with it!

There's lots of really good advice on TT to say if the appetite suppression is still there and you are still loosing weight then stay on that dose.

Chasqui · 19/09/2024 08:46

After reducing my sugar intake significantly I realise it really is the devil's work in term of inducing blood sugar crashes and hunger. It's possible a week of more cake and booze than usual messed with your blood sugar and will settle down again now?

I did my whole journey on 2.5mg. Never felt I needed to go up, been losing 2lb a week fairly steadily.

pinktransit · 19/09/2024 09:12

Weigh day today.
4oz up, but I'm ok with that. It's been a really hard couple of weeks, and I'm still with Mum following (god I still find it really hard just to type the words) my Dad dying. Mum lost a couple of kgs while Dad was in hospital, and she really doesn't have anything spare to lose at all. So I'm making sure that we are eating well, it's all healthy but not my usual high protein/minimal carb diet. Mum can't afford to lose any more weight, and that's taking priority, along with looking after her while she has to deal with a lot of paperwork/jobs/meetings. We're working on one really hard task a day, and are plodding through.
So 4oz is ok.

SW: 12.6.6
CW: 9.6.8
IGW 9.0.0

I'm still on 7.5mg, using 45 clicks from a 10mg pen. May go up to 10 this week, still thinking about it.

Well done to everyone that has lost or had great NSVs this week, to those of us stalling, keep on keeping on - the results will show, if not this week then the next. Or maybe the one after that, but they WILL show. xx

VioletsHeart · 19/09/2024 09:45

@pinktransit well done for looking after you and your mum and for the Grace you’re showing yourself.
You don’t need or want to be focused on weight loss when you’ve just lost your dad. You will be able to get back to it when you feel ready.
sending love at this sad time.
