Curious about the Family Chemist- every time I try to load the website, my browser tells me it’s not secure and won’t allow me to proceed. This is in every device I have.

is the purchasing on their website not encrypted?

I have this, it's my web provider though. Try adding the website to the accepted websites on your providers page, or try at work or with a cafe etc Wi-Fi.

Ooh alright, I'll try again when on different wifi.

I can see that the website has the https in it so it ought to be fine. It's so strange!

SnacklessWonder · 17/09/2024 23:44

@LastTimeLosingIt @MounjaroMunchie I'm glad it's not just me. I'm kind of wishing I stayed on 2.5mg!

MountKilimounjaro · 18/09/2024 05:10

@cakewench Family Chemist is definitely encrypted when I look at it. As you say, it's showing https in the URL and here's a screengrab showing the lock symbol appearing.

Morning! I appreciated the discussion around maintenance doses as I'm still not completely decided. I reset my GW so have another stone to go but actually my ideal BMI is still over 25. I know this is right for me as I lift weights so am muscular and I don't want to risk losing that.

I managed to get my weight down to a BMI of 24 some years ago but it was impossible for me to maintain. I was a size 8-10.

I'm now sitting at BMI of 29 and a size 12 in most shops. At 5 foot 8, I'm happy with size 12. Mind you, I've some very old size 12 jeans that I'm nowhere close to fitting in so clearly vanity sizing is at play!

I reckon another stone and I will be happy.

I think I will need one more pen after my current one then will look at moving to a maintenance plan I think. Probably with Oushk.

I'm still only on 3.75 and getting excellent suppression so likely will aim to maintain on 2.5. What I don't get is, will the effects start to wear off altogether eventually - as that seems to be the case for most people (eg they move up to 5 and get zero suppression). So is it actually possible to maintain on one dose and not eventually need to move up?

MelainesLaugh · 18/09/2024 06:56

Does anyone know if you can do a price match with MedExpress when you’ve got the £40 off for a referral discount?

ThirdStorm · 18/09/2024 07:17

@Lastchancefatty i think planning/anticipating delivery has been the worst bit of this journey! I hope you figure something out.

I’ve been at goal weight for a few weeks now, maintenance still alludes me so I’ll keep trying and I’m on holiday so we’ll see what happens this week. My whole journey took 4 months which I did on 2.5mg. < sharing that as I still see people in a rush to go up the doses but a few of us are pretty sensitive to MJ so if you are losing don’t rush.

OrangeWire · 18/09/2024 09:15

Oh no @Lastchancefatty that is rubbish! Have you had a look at Oushk? You can specify the day you want delivery (it doesn’t cost extra to do this) and I’ve had 3 pens off them and so far they’ve all come on the day I selected! You can choose between DPD and Royal Mail as well. Even with all this I still stress that somehow I’ll miss the delivery 😂

edited to say it’s actually 4 pens because I have a spare in my fridge! I have an MJ problem 😂

Pinkbendyman · 18/09/2024 10:15

I posted a couple of days ago about the maintenance plans offered by both Oushk and The Family Chemist.

I’ve done a little research which I hope is correct 🤞:

Based on a 10mg pen, the cost from Oushk is £159.99 (including 15% discount and £6.99 postage)

The cost from The Family Chemist is £159.00 for a 10mg pen (free P&P) No discount on their maintenance plan that I’m aware of.

I think that’s confirmed my decision to move to Oushk just before I reach a healthy BMI, especially as they have a choice of 3 maintenance plans that are interchangeable every 3 months.

3wDavid · 18/09/2024 10:31

Morning!

My jab and official weigh-in day is tomorrow, so stay tuned for that update.

But based on my weight last week, I've worked out that I've now offcially lost 20.5% of my bodyweight in 3.5 months! That suddenly sounds sooo impressive, I am suddenly feeling really proud of myself and can't quite believe it!

NSV: I live between two parks and go for a walk every morning in one or the other. When I have the time I go into one that's a bit further out, but when short on time go to the closer one. Anyways, I always run into the same lady on her morning walk when I go to the closer one, but I hadn't been to that one in a while, maybe a couple of months. Long story short, I ran into this lady again yesterday and she was soooo sweet! She kept complimenting me on my weight loss, said how very obvious it is, how I've lost so much weight, yada yada, it felt amazing to receive such validation from a total stranger!!

KrankyKumquat · 18/09/2024 10:34

@3wDavid
How lovely! And very well done!
I had my first 11 in over 20 yrs on the scales this morning so it's a good day ☺️

MabelSpan · 18/09/2024 10:37

Congratulations @3wDavid and @KrankyKumquat reading posts like yours gives me a boost for the good things to come!

Don't Oshik offer free postage when on the maintenance plan? Or have I got that wrong?

crochetmylifeaway · 18/09/2024 11:08

Hi guys. Long time no speak! I'm up to 10mg now and stalled!

I haven't lost anything for 3 weeks! I'm on week 2 of the 10mg and was injecting in my stomach until this week when I went back to my leg and oh my god the side effects are so bad! The sulphur burps are back big time, my head is so sore, I'm really tired and my stomach does not like me eating food! I cannot get off the toilet for a while after each meal.

I'm hoping this means when I next weigh I will have lost but seriously I want to get to 2 stone off and it's been ages with no movement! :(

Fromthesidelines · 18/09/2024 11:29

Hi all. Another one on 10mg and in a prolonged stall. No ideas to offer - just empathy!
I've been on mj since mid may. I've lost about 2 stone, with another 2 stone to go to the top of a healthy BMI, so loss has always been comparatively slow. But just over 1lb loss over the last 5 weeks even though suppression on the last 3 weeks of 10mg has been quite high. That has at least stopped me giving up as I might have done before, but it is a bit disheartening.
Doing everything you are supposed to do - recalculated TDEE and well within deficit, exercising, low carb, IF and no UPFs - so should at least be optimising my health.

VioletsHeart · 18/09/2024 11:35

I’m in a quandary. My husband knows I’m on this. I’ve told no one else.
A few people have noticed my shrunk size and said well done. And asked how I’ve done. Calories and exercise I’ve said completely truthfully but omitting one little detail that is none of their business. But now a dear friend who has her own struggles with weight has asked me about it. And she’s making similar changes to me with diet and exercise. And I feel a heel that I’m not giving her all the info.
And I can’t decide: keep my private medical information private as I have for the last few months and on balance would rather remain private. Or let my friend in on the secret which could help her.

weaseleyes · 18/09/2024 11:40

@VioletsHeart You could always ask her if she's thought about MJ as you know some people who've used it to good effect? (If you can keep the people vague.) That way you're not lying, but not disclosing anything that you don't want to either. And if she's not seeing the same changes as you, the chances are she's not actually able to stick to her diet and exercise, so it's not mysterious if you see what I mean. Obviously MJ does help with that, so you could always report what you've heard and leave her to investigate further.

VioletsHeart · 18/09/2024 12:02

Thanks @weaseleyes that’s a helpful suggestion

Thanks @ObsidianTree 😊

I felt like that when I moved up to 10mg and was wondering if the pen I used wasn’t the correct temperature when it was delivered (but can’t remember as I unpacked it and put it straight in the fridge) I just remember that lots of us were posting about delivery issues in the warm weather.

The other thing I wondered was that because I’m closer to my GW, my weight loss will naturally slow down, which is no bad thing.

I also noticed that I was often quite badly constipated on the lower doses where it’s the opposite when I was on 10mg.

Are you close to target maybe?

Have you worked out your average weekly weight loss since you started MJ? This can be very motivating 🤞🏻

I think if I had a close friend who also struggled with her weight I would share with her unless you know she had strong feelings against WL injections.

My dm has battled with her weight all of her adult life and has spent so much of it doing slimming world going up and down. I've not told her as I'm not sure she would be prescribed it at her age.
I'm sure I had to confirm I was between 18 and 75?
So I don't want to tell her about this great thing but then she not be able to try it herself.
She's been doing SW for the last year and has lost the same amount I've now lost since the end of May this year, so I don't tell her how much I've lost, I just say I am still watching what I eat and losing.

QueenOfHiraeth · 18/09/2024 14:35

@crochetmylifeaway and @Fromthesidelines We have a little club here, I'm also on week 2 of 10mg and stalled for 2-3 weeks. I have never had suppression, as others have described it, although I've had occasional mild nausea which worsens if I don't eat and have had my first experiences this week of feeling full and not wanting to finish a meal (although I have still had times of feeling hungry and wanting more!)

I'm gutted I haven't lost this week as, although I had a couple of higher intake days at the weekend, I've had some lower ones since. Going away with friends this weekend who don't know I'm on this so I'm not anticipating a sudden whoosh downwards this week either 😫

@NewLifter I can't answer your question about MJ wearing off but don't forget, in maintenance, you also have more calories so aren't having to rely on the effects as much

Help!! Freaking out, hair loss
I started beginning of June and have lost 35 pounds so far.
Have lost pretty steadily, around 2 lbs average per week.
In the past month I have noticed some hair loss, nothing major and I know it's quite common so didn't totally panic.
However over the past few days it has got worse to the extent that I brushed it yesterday and loads came out then more when I washed it and almost clumps when I ran my fingers through it.
I am now panicking big time and thinking of stopping but also will it help, or is the damage done?
I have around 8 pounds to go to my first target and may take a break but also should I just stop now?
Don't know what to do..
😥

Do you have anything else going on in your life right now that could be causing stress?

Also are you supplementing for lost vitamins and eating enough protein?

Hair loss does happen when you're not getting enough intake, and also when you're under a lot of stress or trauma, but can also be hormonal too so worth mentioning it to your GP and getting their advice before quitting especially if the weight loss is going well.

You might want to put more focus on maintaining your current weight for now though rather than losing until you're confident of the reason and have treatment in place.

There's also no harm in stopping if you feel that's the best choice for you, you can always start again later on down the line if you want to.

Most hair loss is temporary, but better to get checked out to be sure.
