Have you lost weight @ACEwards and do you think that the side effects are worth it for you in order to lose weight?

I don't know about the impact on periods but as Mounjaro seems to affect everyone differently it could be another side effect for you.

I have lost weight, but has slowed right down which is normal I guess (0.8lb this week).

Sometimes I think what the hell am I doing to myself, but other times I think I can ride it out. I guess I'll carry on until the 2.5 is completely stopped working, and if I'm still having side effects but no help with my appetite then that will be my cue to call it a day as I couldn't imagine going to 5mg - the thought terrifies me!

I guess I'm lucky as not much nausea compared to others, but I can't cope with the feeling I get in my head, which I can only describe as it being shoved full of Cotten wool, pressure and headaches. It really impacts my mood

God I feel like a right old moaning Minnie lol x

Choux · 23/08/2024 11:04

Are you drinking enough water as a headache for me is a sign I am dehydrated.

ToriMJ · 23/08/2024 11:06

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 22/08/2024 10:58

Spoke to my docs and they sent me in for a blood prick and urine test. All good

Is nice to know I'm not having any major issues.

Worth getting checked to be safe, glad all came back normal

I aim for 2l but I've always hated water with a passion so it's a struggle. I also can't drink after about 7 pm as after 3 kids my bladder is ruined so I'm up all night peeing 😂

I will try and get more in during the day, but too much makes me feel icky x

I'm ten days since my Missed jab, so 17 days since I took my 4th dose of 2.5mg.
I'm def not feeling the full suppression but also eating much less than normal still. 800-1000 cals over last few days. Have had couple bags of crisps but no urge to eat other crap food or huge portions. Tummy rumbling much more but I feel able to just ignore it. Very interesting.
Plan to start my second 2.5mg pen on 3rd sept.

This feels quite encouraging for your ability to then eventually stop MJ completely… as if your body sort of “understands” hunger a bit better… good for you at using willpower to stick at it. 💪

MyPearlMentor · 23/08/2024 13:26

@ACEwards how do you usually feel when you diet? I have done shakes & soups before on 800 calls a day and it makes me feel like that! I always assumed that the lack of calories led to the lack of energy & the fuzzy feeling. I love food & all the things I “can’t” have gives me a sense of loss on ANY diet.

Maybe I am reading too much into what you say but it sounds like a bit of negative self talk “what the hell am I doing to myself”? Can you find a way to reframe it as “look at me taking control of my nutrition to become more healthy”? I struggled a bit with all the negatives that medicated weight loss was somehow “cheating” or “bad” but I have decided that I’m ok with it for myself and I care less about what others say.

Good luck with whatever you decide, be kind to yourself xxx

Thank you xx

I think you're right, I need to reframe my negative self talk. Before MJ I've always eaten healthy... drummed into me from years of diets and nutritional coaching, but never really had any success as I'm a binge eater. I guess what MJ has done has made me realise that I don't need a massive plate of food (even if it is a plate of veg lol), and that just because it's lunchtime, if I'm not hungry I don't need to eat! It's also given me insight into what my triggers are... one being at home with kids during the holidays and not working in the office. I'm self employed so can work at home, but I'm still staring into the fridge looking for food, but the difference now is I don't eat it lol.

I empathise with bad sleep, dreams and awful head. Similar plus dreadful tinnitus. I've lost a lot of weight and have no regrets but am not buying any more as the side effects are impacting me a lot now. I have 6 weeks left to go and that feels too much.

ACEwards · 23/08/2024 16:30

@Wishthiswasntmypost OMG the tinnitus! I've always thought it was just me. When it's really quiet I feel like I've been out at a club and my ears are ringing

Wishthiswasntmypost · 23/08/2024 19:27

Such a bizarre drug. Long nails and tinnitus plus wildy anxious dreams BUT you lose weight 😁

Haha such an accurate description 😂

gimmemounjaro · 24/08/2024 10:31

Weigh day for me today

Week 6, 5mg
SW: 241.2
CW: 227.5

Down 2.7lbs this week and 13.7lbs overall 💪

Not bad after a very lacklustre 4 weeks on 2.5mg (lost a total of 4 lbs 🙈)

Hope to continue downwards and break the 1 stone lost barrier next week and then maybe be 15 stone something the week after. Just hope the 5mg continues to work for me, I'm more than happy with an average of 2-3lbs a week🤞

SallySunrise · 24/08/2024 20:08

Nearly another week down on 5mg and I've stayed the same. I'm a bit gutted as I've been exhausted all week. I kinda thought that meant it was working. However, I have my period, so maybe that's why.

I think I'm going to count clicks for the next week or two and drop down to 2.5mg. I don't think I can do the end of the school holidays this tired.

DamnItBetsy · 24/08/2024 21:51

End of week 5.
3 weeks on 2.5mg
1 week on 3.12mg (included the end bit in pen)
1 week on 3.66mg (couldn’t risk side effects of jumping to 5mg as was starting new job)

Ive been very lucky in that I’ve not had any side effects apart from occasion loose bowels (but totally manageable, no emergencies!)

BUT, total weight loss is now a grand total of 4.8lbs, so just under a pound a week. 😭 I’m aiming to lose a total of 21lbs to take me to a healthy BMI so at this rate will take a further four to five months.

ChaChaChooey · 24/08/2024 21:55

Moving up to 5mg has been a bit weird - weight loss slowed to a crawl (not worried about this as I’ve always had a little plateau period when I’m around the lost-10%-of-starting-weight stage and I knew my first month’s losses weren’t sustainable!) and appetite suppression so effective that I can barely bring myself to eat anything at all Shock

I delayed my second 5mg by 3 days waiting for my appetite to recover a bit, but didn’t want to leave it too much longer as the pen has a 30 day expiry from first use and I didn’t want to leave a big gap and have to restart the loading phase again/risk the early days side effects returning.

I also have tinnitus but mine has been around for a while and I believe it to be connected to perimenopause: https://www.balance-menopause.com/menopause-library/hearing-loss-and-tinnitus-in-the-perimenopause-and-menopause/#:~:text=Some%20women%20find%20tinnitus%20starts,mood%20disorders%2C%20depression%20and%20stress.

5 and a half weeks in, 18.5lbs lost, BMI has gone from 30 to 27.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 24/08/2024 23:00

Well done all.

Not had a great week calorie wise but seems I haven't put on so far Hopefully lost some on the Morning weigh in.

I've had over my loss allowance Calories for at least 3 days this week so maybe a bit over does jolt you back sometimes. Fingers crossed

I lost 4lbs in 4 weeks of 2.5mg and the last of the four injections was more than that as I used some of the bonus. Didn't do much for me at all.

First week on 5mg I lost 4.5lbs, more than I had lost in four weeks on 2.5mg. Keep going.

Jfw82 · 25/08/2024 06:39

Just back from two weeks away all inclusive. Decided to stay on 2,5mg as didn't want to risk stepping up when going away and did jabs 5&6 whilst away.

Stepped on the scales this morning with trepidation (didn't think I'd over eaten - possibly eaten better - but quite a bit of Wine) and I've lost 1lb whilst away!!

Am now at 13lbs down and hoping for another 1lb for my weigh in on Weds for end of week 6 as would be amazing to reach that first stone

Bamboozled5 · 25/08/2024 08:20

Coming to the end of week 5, I've lost 18.5 lbs ! I have got to about 4mg this week. Very pleased with this but this week only lost 1lb, so perhaps my body is now saying enough for a bit. I'm noticing my face is a bit thinner with more noticeable wrinkles 😩 (I'm 57) - does anyone take collagen, which brand and does it make any difference?

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 25/08/2024 08:52

Yippee. Down to 68kgs

Exactly 4kilos to go

Approx 2/3rds of the way there.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 25/08/2024 08:56

Question is do
I order another pen.

Weight Loss is slow
Now

about a 1lb a week so it will Prob need another pen to get the last FewKgs off.

I'm sticking to 2.5 after reading all the side effects in 5 on Facebook

I've noticed my appetite growing again, but I'm the same, I'm too scared to go to 5 as I'm floored for 2-3 days just on 2.5 😳

I've got 3 left of my 2.5 pen. I'm thinking for my next jab I'm gonna do the full 60 click dose, plus maybe another 10 which would eat into the "bonus" dose and see how I go

ACEwards · 25/08/2024 09:05

What I have noticed with MJ is that I'm struggling to finish drinks... keep buying my usual takeaway coffee and throwing half away. Same at home as I'm making a tea/coffee and tipping half away.

Also struggling with water... too much makes me nauseous and completely gone off squash! I'm managing about 1.75-2L a day somehow but it's hard work 😂
