I’ve had the worst night ever with D and V. I got no sleep at all and for the first time in years I’ve had to admit defeat and stay off work. Not sure if it’s the MJ- my next injection is due tonight so I’d have thought side effects for last dose I had would be over by now.
in any case, I don’t know if I can face my MJ tonight and 100% can’t face moving to the 5mg.

I held off for a couple days because of symptoms and the suppression stayed good so not a bad idea to give yourself a breathing space

Hope ur ok I've had random days I've took off too over past 5 weeks or should I say "worked from home" 🙃

SJLOUNJARO · 20/08/2024 13:10

I ordered and got approved from Juniper got a £50 off code online so 159 - I just stuck with 2.5 I couldn't cope with more side effects. Feel like last dose has really worn off - 9 days now - feel famished! Going to wait until Monday now and start again when new pen arrives. Is anyone else with Juniper? Any issues?

Feeling a bit better thanks! Haha I’m a headteacher so can’t really work from home, plus didn’t even bring my laptop home last night as I left work late. The place will survive without me for a day they are probably all having a great time 😂

Omg a week since my last jab and today I'm back to how I felt before. I'm wfh and just keep thinking about having a look in the cupboard. Urgh. Managing to resist but god the food noise is utter shite.

Sorry to hear your struggle @ToriMJ , it’s a fear for many of us who have quietened the food noise.

im away, but brought my pen with me, no scales though, so have to hope for 2 weeks loss…🙏

keep strong 💪🏼

Not having that constant food noise has been the biggest win for me. I have lost the same amount of weight in the same timeframe on a VCLD but it has been hugely difficult. I’m still enjoying what I eat but not obsessing about it.

Xiaoxiong · 20/08/2024 15:55

Agree re: food noise coming back somewhat towards the end of the week. It's hard!! I'm trying to "recognise" that that's all it is - noise - and then ask, am I thirsty? Bored? Lonely? I then go do something to distract myself that isn't food, and when I'm WFH I'm trying to do some small bit of housework that will keep my hands busy and take my mind off it.

I really want to rewire my brain so if/when I stop taking MJ I don't just go back to my old habits, so learning how to deal with food noise is going to be essential.

@ToriMJ
This is how I've been past couple of days it's crazy hoping I can try and keep on top of it until next pen arrives hope I've done right thing ordering another 2.5. I have also been staying within my kcals but somehow feel more bloated and can't see that I will lose this week at all.

@Wishthiswasntmypost @Choux

Thanks - I track calories and I'm not eating any more, still feeling the suppression, so that's interesting. I thought MJ just helped you to eat less but there must be more to it.

"This medication works by activating two receptors called GLP-1 and GIP to increase the level of hormones in the body. It works by helping your body to produce more insulin when needed. It also reduces the amount of glucose, or sugar, produced by the liver, and slows down how quickly food is digested."

Wishthiswasntmypost · 21/08/2024 08:05

Another night of poor sleep. Wild dreams. Not sure if MJ or not but on top of already feeling very tired and feeble it's not great. I could sleep all day I reckon but sadly work calls.

Xiaoxiong · 21/08/2024 08:42

Managed to get the bonus dose out with the assistance of a spanner!! Not as easy as other threads made it sound and it wasn't so smooth clicking out so I was a bit worried - but smooth as usual when injecting in. So moving up to 5mg next week not this (although the new pen arrived yesterday).

I ordered some extra needles for the bonus dose which are identical to the ones Voy sends you, but now I have a box of 100 of the things, which will last me 8.3 years if I do a bonus dose every month. Do we think we'll all be on MJ for the next 8 years...?!

MzHz · 21/08/2024 09:08

@ToriMJ how much water are you drinking? If under 3l, I’d suggest upping it to 3l and that might help.

MzHz · 21/08/2024 09:16

This MJ thing is super weird

so I’m not really managing keeping the digestive system regular and that does feel less comfortable than I’d like, but the last couple of days, even without a poo I’ve lost over a kilo. I think we’re getting into a routine. I’m on week 2 of 5mg.

someone else mentioned losing on days 2-3 after the jab and I think that’s also the case with me.

food noise (ha ha auto corrects to noose, perhaps a bit extreme but just as apt!)

we are going to have to work to tune out food noise. This MJ journey is a holiday from the food noise, but we’ll have to come back to us without the MJ at some point. This is like giving up smoking, you do have to have determination and a bit of willpower to make the patches/gum etc work, breaking habits too. This weight thing is no different

poppym12 · 21/08/2024 09:18

Could you tell me where you bought your extra needle from please, @Xiaoxiong? I'm only on week 2 but really don't want to waste any at the end of the pen. I'm with Voy too so I presume they'd be the same ones.

Xiaoxiong · 21/08/2024 09:58

I got these ones from Amazon and they are the same ones that come with the pen. Be warned it's a box of 100!

I've not had any issues with digestion and staying regular, but I do have chia seeds and inulin powder stirred into yoghurt with berries most mornings for breakfast. That, plus a coffee, always seems to do the trick...

Fatigue appears to be my biggest side effect this week. I can't imagine anything more than walking for physical exercise. I again am struggling to plot calories and wonder if I'm too low. Yesterday was 3 dollops of yoghurt, a toss of flax seeds, fruit, a banana and home made spag bol. The tomato base was home made with 600g of tomato, a spoonful of olive oil, garlic, half a teaspoon of sugar, quorn, onion and pasta divided between 6 people... how do I work that out? I've guessestimated at 779 cals.

I'm wondering what will happen if I eat 1200 or even 1500 cals in my post MJ world. Not a lot of weight shifting on <800 cals this week which makes me worry for the future. I can't live like this forever however. 🫤

MzHz · 21/08/2024 18:30

@Wishthiswasntmypost ive heard that eating too LITTLE can stall you, ditto insufficient protein

if you’re with juniper, speak to health coach.

poppym12 · 21/08/2024 18:38

Thanks @Xiaoxiong

ACEwards · 21/08/2024 18:41

@Wishthiswasntmypost I agree with the comment above about not enough cals causing a stall. I had my call with my health coach (via Chequp) today and she told me even 1200 cals is sometimes too low and your body will hold on to everything to avoid going into starvation mode.

That was my kick up the butt to try and eat more 😳

dogdaydisaster · 21/08/2024 20:17

I haven’t been about for a bit as life got busy, but still plodding along slowly. I’m almost at the end of week 6, approaching my 3rd dose of 5mg. I’m 5kg down.

Food suppression is so-so. I can eat some biggish meals but at other times I can’t. I’m kind of going with the flow really. If I have a bigger/later meal or alcohol I can feel queasy in the night. For breakfast I often grab one of the Lidl protein yoghurts, and have a smallish lunch. At weekends I can eat a bigger late breakfast, then maybe skip lunch. I am generally have a 5-600 calorie dinner. Loads of water and a psyllium husk tablet daily, which is definitely helping with contripation. Magnesium supplements seems to be working for the tiredness. I seem to be reacting badly to red onions for some reason.

Food noise is way down, and making better choices has been much easier.

so happy enough for now. Off to France this weekend so that will be interesting. Had a busy/boozy weekend and gained a kilo and a half, but gallons of water and back on track and it was gone in 2 days.
