Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

@ObsidianTree yeah all too big now. I'm kicking myself for getting rid of all clothes under a size 14 at the end of last year. I have a bit of a hoarding problem so have been part of a decluttering thread on here for a couple of years and part of that was being 'realistic' that I was never going to be slim again. Ditched it all and now I'm regretting it. I find it really hard to find nice trousers in the right length.

Why do women's formal trousers have no belt loops 😑

Hadn't thought of a hairband, but not sure that it will be hidden well enough by my top. I'll try it tonight though and see, thanks. It's an external meeting with customers and our team have already had complaints about not looking smart enough 🙄.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/09/2024 09:44

@ObsidianTree my daughter started primary this week and I'm really surprised just how slim and perfect looking a lot of the mums are at our school. I'm only friends with one and she's on MJ too but we're still considerably bigger than most of the mums there. I think I'd have to be bmi 20 maximum to be on their level 😄

What did you say when you were told you'd lost too much?

ObsidianTree · 10/09/2024 10:26

@PissedOffNeighbour22 I just said. Oh ok! She asked how I did it. I said diet!

It's not something that I've taken seriously. Weird that she thinks I've lost too much. I don't think I look gaunt or anything. My BMI is still overweight etc. Maybe because it looks like it's a fast weight loss.

TimeIretired · 10/09/2024 12:44

@PissedOffNeighbour22 i know how you feel. Gave a load of clothes, many unworn and still with tags to a work colleague last year trying to both declutter and at the same time, try and accept i’d never fit in them. Some of those would fit me now! 😢

SilverHeels · 10/09/2024 15:59

Thank you so much for your advice. I am feeling much better today and am hungry so seems I am over the blip of side effects. I now think that moving to 10mg caused it but it was a shock as previous side effects were very mild.

@Choux that chart makes sense and appeals to my inner geeky scientist.

I have decided to drop back to 5mg this evening so my jab is only 1 day late and to see what the supression is like and if I can stick to my calorie goal. I lost 4lb since Thursday so am expecting a bounce back as I am now eating again. I am also mindful that this will need to be a long term eating change for me so too much supression is not a good idea.

Moanranger · 10/09/2024 16:09

@Choux I am inclined to agree that most recommendations overstate maintenance calories. On very conservative estimates my TDEE minus 500 cals (to lose weight ) is 1300 cals, but I am finding that I am only losing v slowly (eg 0.5 lbs or less per week) on 1100 cals. I suspect maintenance for me will be ca 1350 per week.
I started 1 April and have only now lost just shy of 2 stone, so a slow loser, but what I am most happy about is not being a slave to my appetite. I would for the foreseeable, happily stay on this, eat sparingly and slowly lose.

izzy2076 · 10/09/2024 20:16

@Moanranger yes I feel the same about maintenance calories. I'm 23bmi now and only plan to get to BMI22 and am eating 1500 a day and am losing about a pound every 3 weeks. I think I'm just going to stick to 1500 a day plus a few treats from now on as I think 1500 is my sweet spot. I don't seem to ever really go under or over this.

ObsidianTree · 11/09/2024 07:43

Morning all, we've been a bit quiet recently. How is everyone getting on?

I seem to have been eating junk the last few days. Do you eat more around the time you ovulate? Is this a thing?

I'm on 15mg now so find it weird that I seem to want to eat. Last week I had 12.5mg and was pretty supressed most of the week.

Stickthatupyourdojo · 11/09/2024 07:43

Morning. Any OGs still with medexpress? I keep seeing people talk about referrals and sharing their codes but I switched to them from Bolt back in April and they have never sent me anything that could make it a bit cheaper. I think it's too late in the day for me to swap to Oushk as I'm pretty much at maintenance already but I feel like Medexpress are taking the piss with their constant emails reminding me to order but no mention of me being a loyal customer or ways to get a little discount.

ObsidianTree · 11/09/2024 07:46

@Stickthatupyourdojo they have referral codes that give both £40 off. But you need to get someone to sign up to med express to get the credit. You can try putting your referral code on the codes and promotions board and see if it gets used.

Re switching to Oshik, i think they are pretty open to anyone moving over as long as they have proof of being on Mounjaro with other providers. So could be worth checking. Their maintenance plan offers 15% off and free delivery that is a nice touch.

OP posts:
Stickthatupyourdojo · 11/09/2024 07:52

Ooooh thanks @ObsidianTree I will investigate Oushk. I can't find any mention of referral codes in my emails or my account for medexpress. Maybe I need to use a PC to see it.

ObsidianTree · 11/09/2024 07:55

@Stickthatupyourdojo think there is an option in your account section on med express to refer. Then you can copy the code. They don't make it obvious I don't think!

Hey @ObsidianTree
Just in case you don't know this. I had a conversation with Hira at Oushk recently and she told me that you can go onto the Conti maintenance plan even if you're not at goal weight or even <bmi 25 - it just means you're sticking, for 3 months, at the same dose and not titrating up eg have hit the 15mg or a lower sweet spot. It's a way of getting the discount and free postage a bit earlier so I'm considering this for when my next pen is due. Sorry if this is blindingly obvious and it's just me that hadn't figured this out 😅

NextPrimeMinister · 11/09/2024 08:16

That's good to know, I was thinking of swapping to Oushk while my bmi was at 26. I'll look into it further.

Femeia · 11/09/2024 08:18

Morning all! I'm still stalled, which is very annoying. Hoping for a big drop at some point!
I ordered another 15mg from Bolt at the end of last week, thinking it would have a longer expiry date, No such luck, it's an Oct 24 dated pen so I now have 2 full pens (starting one this weekend) and therefore will be using an out of date pen during November. Grrrrr.

Thanks for this.

I will move to Oshik eventually, but waiting until I've used Zava one last time.

As Oshik seem to let people move if their BMI is lower than 25, I don't think it will be a problem me moving over under BMI 25. As will have proof of purchase with Zava etc. I still have codes with Zava so it's still cheaper for me to be with Zava while I'm on 15mg. Also, once I've done 2/3 pens of 15mg I want to start titrating down and have my stock to use up. So will swap to Oshik once I am on around BMI 25 and use their plan 1 and not buy pens for a bit. My main issue is I am getting closer and closer to BMI 25 🤣 but am going to try and use my ethnicity to get them to let me move even if my BMI goes below 25, as NHS says i should be 23.5bmi to be healthy! Think it might even work with Zava to stay with them a bit longer too!

Damn that's annoying. I will also be using a 15mg pen into Nov. Think I'm over by about a week. I'm going to assume it will be fine! Fingers crossed!

@ObsidianTree
Yep, that makes sense, I forgotten you'd got a stash!
I'm still on 7.5 and finding it OK after 6/7 weeks. Got a 10 in the fridge, not sure if I'll use it or reduce clicks yet. Another stone to go to get to bmi 23/ 11st which is uncharted waters for me as no idea how easy/hard this last stone will be, whether it'll be a bit too much given my age and build, or what I'll need in terms of dose. Trying to just take it a day at a time and manage the uncertainty....

KrankyKumquat · 11/09/2024 10:18

Nice little chat with a newbie on reddit this morning. Three weeks in and she realised she hadn't been injecting anything as she'd been twisting to 1, then twisting back down to 0, rather than pushing the plunger down 😂. Bless her, she was very good humoured about it. Good to be reminded of those early days when all this injecting was so weird and complicated, and a bit scary.

NCfor24 · 11/09/2024 10:32

@Stickthatupyourdojo I'm same as you. I've been with MedExpress since my second pen after moving from Bolt.
I finally learned last month after ordering that they do price match, so they credited me with £30. By chance I had a friend want to start so sent her my referral code so have now got an additional £40 credit. I am BMI 26.6 I think and so my next 10mg could be my last from MedExpress unless someone else uses my code.

I'm thinking I'll move to Oushk especially if I can join the Conti plan as @KrankyKumquat mentioned above despite not being ready for maintenance. Guess I just need to decide if I'm staying at 10mg or going up a dose. My suppression is good, my losses are continuing at their slow 1-2lb a week so I think 10mg is fine.

OvaHere · 11/09/2024 14:54

Popping over from the Sept starters thread to ask a question of those who have lost weight.

In the last couple of years I've been plagued by lots of little skin tags especially on the neck. Skincare treatments have done nothing. I know part of it is age (nearly 50) but it also can also be attributed to being overweight/pre diabetic, which I suspect is probably the case.

Has anyone else had this and has it improved with weight loss?

Sorry I haven't seen anyone mention that.

Liquid nitrogen might help get rid of the ones you have. There are liquid nitrogen kits you can buy to remove skin tags.

If these are caused by diabetes /weight then being on MJ will probably help and stop them from forming. Hopefully!

Thanks. I've looked at those kits. Have just been a bit nervous about using one.

I froze my friend’s skin tag with one of those wart freezing things and then cut them off with scissors.

probably inadvisable but she is delighted

NextPrimeMinister · 11/09/2024 18:43

I've got a kit, bought it off Amazon after paying 50 to 70 pounds a pop at the beautician. I realised they literally held the pen on the tag for a short period of time. So I tried it myself, and although not as powerful, I get the same results.

I'd not thought about them reducing (I have lost 3.5 stone) and have gone from obese to overweight. On reflection I could say they have reduced? But I have frozen a few off in the time I've been on mj.
