Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

Just take an antihistamine or a kwells. Will take the edge off.

I too felt quite sick on 10mg which was my bonus does from my 7.5mg pen this weekend.

KeepingUndercover · 09/09/2024 09:16

If you forget a dose, you can take it in the next 4 days and then take your next dose as normal. If it's over 4 days you're meant to wait until your next dose is due. Although if you don't mind changing your day of injecting you just do it whenever and wait a week. The 4 days thing is to keep 3 days between injections.

If it's over 2 weeks (two injections?) I think you're actually meant to start back at 2.5mg but I don't know where that came from and can't find it officially. It might have been a MedExpress reordering thing.

KeepingUndercover · 09/09/2024 09:18

So you can have at least a missed week between injections based on their "what to do if you forget a dose" instructions.

Sorrr, I was replying to @ObsidianTree and another poster - quote fails.

Thanks for clarifying. Hope you feel better now.

I missed a week (so took a 15 day break) when I went on holiday and then had a further 11 day break last week as I wanted to move back to Fridays. No problems whatsoever.

Took 2.5 on Friday and had awful bitter taste in my mouth. Had a lovely weekend, went out for a meal on sat and this morning I'm 9.12-6 so this 'maintenance' dose seems to be working for me.

Sneaking in for advice. I am a May starter.

Have had the most horrific stomach bug. 8 hours of violent vomiting and wretching every half hour. It stopped early hours yesterday morning but I have not eaten for almost 3 days.

This was my 1st week of 10mg and jab due today but feel very sicky still and no appetite.

How long can I leave between jabs ? I am not going to do one until I feel better so aware I may have to drop down doses but I feel so bad right now I just want to be back to normal.

I felt a bit icky on 10mg but no vomiting and this hit at the end of day 4 so am assuming it’s mot MJ related and I was ferverish making me sure it was a virus.

any advice most welcome.

It sounds like a reaction to 10mg rather than a stomach bug. I think a lot of us that have had bad reactions wonder if it's a stomach bug, but I would say the common denominator is stepping up a dose!

I think you can leave it a few days, but I wouldn't go for another dose of 10mg when you take you next jab. I think don't wait longer than 7 days as your body might react again to the medication. Maybe go with 5mg for your next dose and built back up gradually. I had this reaction when I went up to 10mg. I went down to about 7.5 for my next dose but still had a reaction. So had to go down to about 6.75 for the dose after. Eventually I got used to it again and now have built up again.

I’m going to reorder 10mg I think and have a month on it if 7.5mg stalls me. Sorry to ask as I know it’s been posted loads but does anyone have a link to the great prices spreadsheet so I can check out potential price matching or decide whether I do want to leap to Oushk? I’d be very grateful.

SilverHeels · 09/09/2024 11:41

Thanks all . Am feeling a bit better but literally can’t eat .

What suprised me is that this happened on day 4 after the jab . I had only had very mild nausea up to now and did a couple of weeks between 7.5 and 10 titrating ip so this has been a shock . The jabs usually wear off by day 5 for me.

I have a 5mg in the fridge that has the shortest date on it so may go to 5 for a couple of weeks but no way am I injecting until I can actually eat again .

Choux · 09/09/2024 12:31

@SilverHeels your sickness may or may not be entirely MJ related. But if you think about it the injection is slowly absorbed into your body from the fat you inject into. It doesn't all get into your blood immediately. I am not a doctor but the absorption rate might vary from week to week depending on exactly where us amateur medics have injected and the density of the fat there.

This table from the Oushk website amazed me when I saw it at the weekend. Someone who has been using 15mg for 8 weeks is estimated to have 40-45mg of MJ in their system as the drug has a half life of 5 days so slowly accumulates in your system.

So you could have 20-23mg in your system currently from your last 8 weeks mainly on 7.5mg.

When you are ready to take another dose I would take 7.5mg max and reassess if that is enough for you to lose steadily on without any unmanageable side effects. If it is you don't need to go any higher.

I’ve found you all! Hurrah! I’ve really missed seeing all your updates and what not. I’m so pleased to hear that @MelissaLouRocks is doing so well and out of prison and really enjoyed reading about everyone’s trials and tribulations 😊 a very big well done to the goal reachers, maintainers and NSV’ers!

I started on 5th April at 14.12. This morning I was 12.2 but official weigh is on Saturday so hopefully that will go down a bit more. The last couple of weeks have been quite difficult for me as my brother has been really unwell so I can’t say in all honesty that I’ve been looking after myself as much as I could have and my loss slowed down to about 100g from the average 1.5lb/week and I wasn’t sure if 5mg was working as well and it had previously so last week I had 6.25mg and it feels no different to my last 5mg dose so I’m going to carry on with 5mg this week. If I’m going to get the same effect I might as well stick at 5

My next target is 11.13 which will take me to 3 stone, then 11.7 for healthy BMI. There is a part of me that wants to go to 10.13 to get me to 50lbs off but I don’t know yet. I’m having to start thinking about where I want to be and maintenance. I’ve got 2 x 7.5 pens in the fridge that I plan to use to titrate down with. I’ve got zero qualms about using a pen for more than 30 days so in theory, I’ve got enough to see me through until Christmas. I’m also thinking that I might buy a 2.5 pen to see me over the Christmas period as I have no mince pie limit 🤣 I’ll see a bit closer to the time. I’m 47 and fully post-menopausal. It’s pretty depressing to think that because of this I’ll need to hover around 1000-1100 cals a day to maintain my weight.

CiderJabs · 09/09/2024 13:28

@guestusername I am also using 7.5pens to titrate down. I should have enough to last me until feb and after that I might have to consider going solo. Wedding in 12 months time and dress already bought in a size 10 so I simply cannot risk putting weight on. I'm hoping this will help me keep on top of things.

Menopause is also destroying me and I'm so fed up with it all.

Choux · 09/09/2024 13:30

Hi @guestusername and welcome. Can you explain what you mean by 'I’m 47 and fully post-menopausal. It’s pretty depressing to think that because of this I’ll need to hover around 1000-1100 cals a day to maintain my weight.'?

I'm older than you, shorter than you, lighter than you and I don't have much muscle. My BMR per my body fat scales is about 1350 a day. I have an office job and wfh 2 days a week so am not overly active but I would estimate my maintenance calories will be about 1,500 a day when I get to that stage.

Why do you think you will only be able to eat 1,100 on maintenance?

Many years spent trying to lose on 1200cals which did absolutely nothing. I’ve read in a few places that in truth, post menopausal women need around 200 cals less than the recommended amount so I’m basing it on that. Typically I can’t remember any of the sites I read this one though! It will be trial and error I guess to find that happy middle

montysma1 · 09/09/2024 14:07

None scale victory, as slightly short of scale victories this last few weeks.

I am now pinching some rather nice Adidas T shirts and other trendies, from my extremely petite 16 year old twins.
I am getting side eye rolling but they can sod off, they have been stealing and trashing my trainers for years😂

As for the scales, I have set 8 and a half stone as my cut off, mainly as I still have some body flab despite being skinny over all.
But the scales are thwarting me. I have gone 8'13st to 9st and back again for 3 weeks now😡.

FFS, I have shifted 60lb on MJ, and I can't bloody move this final 6lb!

I guess we all have different metabolisms, @Choux. I have in the past failed to lose weight on 1000 calories a day. I'm hoping MJ will be something of a reset given the amount of weight I've lost but no guarantees.

KrankyKumquat · 09/09/2024 15:41

@Wonkypictureframe
Yep me too. I used to do OMAD and absolutely fill my boots on that one meal when i was younger but no more. I don't think I've gone over 1000 calories in a day since being on MJ, weight loss is good and steady (I haven't had any plateaus TG) but I'm realistic about how low I'll have to stay to maintain which is pretty depressing and why I don't envisage coming off MJ when I hit goal weight in the next couple of months. I'm thinking 12 months at least to re-set but it's not an area I've seen any particular research about - particularly in women approaching 60 or older?

@SilverHeels sorry for the delay .... MedExpress recommend Cyclizine anti sickness

SilverHeels · 09/09/2024 16:12

@NCfor24 thank you can I buy OTC or just online as they seem prescription only ?

I'm not sure, I just saw it as a suggested option when I next order Mounjaro. Maybe pop into a pharmacy and ask or try and OTC travel sickness medication.

BMI is 29.9 today. I am overweight. I can’t believe it!!!

That's incredible, well done you! 🎉 💐

They are prescription but you can get them prescribed from MedExpress. I got some when I had quite bad nausea and would take on day 1 and 2 if I was feeling queasy.

CiderJabs · 05/09/2024 12:03

I assume most of you have the Renpho scales ? Here's an interesting thing - I was always wound up about my body fat % and then I looked a bit more into it and noticed they have what they call athlete mode, which should only help used if you exercise more than 4 times a week (I think). As I go to the gym 5/6 times I week, I selected it and straight away my body fat went down from 34% to 22%. Same scales, same day just a different setting. That tells me neither of those can be accurate!

Yea it makes no sense at all. My husband’s fancy scales do similar and I was set as “athletic” based on exercising 3 to 4 times a week. Then I realised it was all wrong and means my long term trends make no sense. I’m back on non athletic for more than a year and glad to be on 29 % compared with 36 % earlier this year

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/09/2024 08:57

My weight has actually been going up over the last week but I tried on some work clothes as I have an important meeting tomorrow and I don't have a single pair of work trousers that fit 😣. I've had a lot of leave over the last 3wks so that was the last time I wore them - some fit and some were tight.
I haven't a clue what to do now as I haven't got time today to go shopping. I tried on a size 16 suit and it was like wearing a clown costume. DP found it hilarious.

Despite being half a stone from bmi 25, I still look really fat in photos.

ObsidianTree · 10/09/2024 09:27

@PissedOffNeighbour22 Are they too big?

Can you temporarily use two hairbands to grab up the spare material to tighten it? It's not a great method, but if it means you don't have to find new trousers straight away etc.

Did the school run this morning and one of my daughters friends mum's said I had lost more weight and it was too much! Lol! Think she's worrying that I'm sick or something.

She's going to get a bigger shock when I aim for BMI 22/23! I plan to be slim for once in my life! I look ok now but still big.
