Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

@Moanranger
Yes, it's a bit more helpful than the normal BMI measure isn't it? I've always felt it should take into account age. We sound like we're at similar stages - very close to bmi 25 and comfortably in the green section but with a little more still to go ( I was thinking about another stone but some of the pressure is off in terms of thinking i must do this for health reasons, more to do with flabby midriff! )

KrankyKumquat · 05/09/2024 08:26

@TimeIretired
Ha, ha. I was doing the same last night and early this morning, trying to work out how to use the 5th dose of 7.5 to make the last 3 doses up to 10's. Maths has never been my strong subject and the pressure of doing it when it costs money and potentially could make you ill, was too much. Plus I was bloody freezing! And then, when I got up, I realised just an extra 20 clicks, 3 times - duhhh😂

Wonkypictureframe · 05/09/2024 08:47

To be fair, the BMI measurement linked does say it’s not ideal just to do it on weight. Although my weight is in the healthy range, I am pretty sure my fat/muscle ratio remains unhealthy!

Yes, I'm 4lbs off 'healthy' bmi but my body fat is still at 34% (obese, and only down from 38% when I was 3 stone heavier), and according to my scales, needs to be between 21-25% for 'healthy' and under 32% for 'acceptable', which is really depressing.
Ps I know people say these cheap scales are notoriously inaccurate but it's all I've got to go on and they at least show trends so it seems that body fat percentage is very slow to reduce.

MJqueen · 05/09/2024 09:09

@KrankyKumquat

Convert your fat % into kg at the start to now, you'll see that you've lost quite a few kg in fat.

I know what you mean though, I feel the same. I haven't been using the fancy scales the whole time, but my body fat started at around 44% (!!!) and is now 38.1%. Also aiming for around 25-30% as my final figure.

I have worked out around 60% of my weight loss to date has been fat compared to non-fat - assuming the scales are accurate. This calculates to 18kg. Sounds better when you look at it that way!

Wonkypictureframe · 05/09/2024 09:44

My PT told me she only achieved 25% body fat when she was a competitive lifter. So that feels like quite the challenge.

Not sure about others, I'm not wedded to a particular % for body fat.

I do want my visceral fat at a healthy level and then anything under 30% for body fat will be a bonus.

Wonkypictureframe · 05/09/2024 10:55

God yes. I have no chance at all of ever getting there. Under 30 would do me quite fine.

CiderJabs · 05/09/2024 12:03

I assume most of you have the Renpho scales ? Here's an interesting thing - I was always wound up about my body fat % and then I looked a bit more into it and noticed they have what they call athlete mode, which should only help used if you exercise more than 4 times a week (I think). As I go to the gym 5/6 times I week, I selected it and straight away my body fat went down from 34% to 22%. Same scales, same day just a different setting. That tells me neither of those can be accurate!

rainbowsandinfinitesparkles · 05/09/2024 12:18

Rather excitingly today I am no longer obese. Ive lost 4st 5lb and BMI is 29.9 so now in only overweight. It's been at least 7 years since I've been "only overweight" 😄🎉

I just used my Renpho scales to check my body fat & it is 40%. It has been 40% for decades. It seems to me that if you are a normal person with a life, job, various hobbies & responsibilities, it is nigh impossible to change this. You would need to spend all your waking hours at the gym & eat like a bodybuilder. I think this is yet another metric which we women end up chasing to feel inadequate.
My previously mentioned mid-section podge is the body fat I would like to lose. The rest of my fat is mainly subcutaneous and distributed around my body & would probably be awfully hard to shift. If I could lose this, I would look pretty good. I was doing pull downs (40kg) in the gym yesterday & thought my upper arms looked pretty good, bingo wings not too bad.
Focus on the achievable & don’t beat yourself up!

Congratulations! Such a good milestone to hit.

You and I are very similar I think, I also only have a few pounds to go to hit "overweight". I remember the last time was in 2012 😬😬

MJqueen · 05/09/2024 14:00

15mg arrived today and as expected it has an Oct expiry. I'm not very pleased but at least it arrived cold after all the hassles everyone had over the summer!

I should just make it through ok, as I have two weeks left of 12.5 then will use the new pen.

BlackFriYay · 05/09/2024 14:28

Well done everyone on your milestones, losses and NSV's! 🙂

I'm glad I'm ready to titrate down as I'm definitely done with 10mg. For the past few weeks I've had a migraine almost every day and I'm convinced its the 10mg dose that's to blame.

I'm a day overdue my shot but I'm going to give it a few more days before I inject again in the hope the migraine flare tapers off.

There seems to be a discrepancy between migraine sufferers that MJ helps, and those who find that it makes them worse. I was firmly in camp #1 to start with. I was actually raving on here about how much it had helped!

I've got the bonus dose at the end of the pen left so I'm going to attempt to count clicks and do an 8mg or there abouts. How many clicks is it for 7.5mg from a 10mg pen again, anybody? Tia

MikanOrange · 05/09/2024 16:03

Thank you for the suggestion of moving down to 12.5mg from 15mg. I no longer feel like death walking, and still losing at the same rate (a slow & steady 1.5 lbs / week). 🙂

MelissaLouRocks · 05/09/2024 16:26

I'm beyond ecstatic to say my surgery appears to have been successful. Apologies for being incommunicado, I was yet again stuck in an area of the hospital with no reception or WiFi, however am now discharged and home.

I feel so good, I think it just illustrates how poorly I was for years, but at least I now have hope. I'll be on a low dose, long term antibiotic for a while, with regular tests, but I'm OK with that.

So I've had the go ahead to start back on MJ, already done my jab lol. Am delighted to say I'm only 2lbs off my initial goal, so hopefully I'll be on maintenance soon and am moving to Oushk for that.

Congratulations to everyone losing or getting to goal, sorry I've not kept up.

Thanks for all your well wishes whilst I was 'inside', it's just lovely to be home and back here with your support.

Crying happy tears today.

Wonkypictureframe · 05/09/2024 16:32

That’s such lovely news, @MelissaLouRocks!

ObsidianTree · 05/09/2024 17:03

That's such good news @MelissaLouRocks ☺️ must feel great after so long being so poorly.

I just noticed my recent order says short expiry! So guess I'm getting an Oct expiry pen then! Interesting it says start before 9th Oct and not like end of sept.

Typical Zava haven't sent pen yet. Showing despatched on Zava but it says on tracking they haven't received it yet. So it's either not been packed yet or is sitting with a pile of boxes not been sent to royal mail yet! Good thing it's not hot at the moment!

Were you warned about this prior to ordering? It's a bit of a piss take if not.

Lol I don't believe there was a warning. Just went into my past orders and saw the warning! Also on the previous pen I ordered back in July! It definitely wasn't a warning on it back in July!

@MelissaLouRocks no warning prior to ordering that I saw.
