Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

@Wonkypictureframe OMG!!! Quitting drinking!!! Laying off the daily 10 x bottles of WKD he'll think! I may make up a funny excuse too. I've just quit eating rolos. That's all it is.

Does anyone know which providers offer a maintenance plan, I’ve seen Oushk mentioned, any others? And can you move to them when you reach a healthy bmi? I’m currently with Asda, bmi is now 29 so a way to go still, but I asked them about ongoing support and they’ve said they won’t offer it. They will stop prescribing once at a ‘healthy bmi’. This is a quote from them:

‘Once you reach a healthy BMI we will stop prescribing this treatment for you. At this stage we recommend that you maintain your weight using the lifestyle changes that you have made alongside your treatment.’

😕

Moanranger · 26/08/2024 17:42

So three days after return from holiday, I am down to 73.2,kg, which is 0.2kg from my August goal of 73 kg. I have nearly a week, so can achieve this.
I had a third person mention my WL (which is nearly 2st now), a woman at my gym. I sometimes think someone has lost weight, but don’t say anything, in case I am wrong. Acknowledgement is nice, but I won’t die on that particular hill😊
After I hit73, my next goal will be 2kg for Sept, and that is my official first goal.

Bolt do maintenance and I think you can move when under BMI 30. Med express do, but not sure when they will let you move over. Oshik obviously. A tiktoker said Cloud pharmacy do. Not sure of others.

Thank you for the congrats 😊

I've got 2 jabs left in my 10mg pen so after I've had those I'm going to go back down to 7.5 for a fortnight then reassess, then down to 5mg and so forth. I have two full 10mg pens in the fridge that I'm going to use for 'maintenance' by counting clicks.

I don't really want to buy any more pens but the window is closing as MedEx force you to go back to 2.5 if you leave too big a gap between orders. What they don't know (and what I don't really want to tell them) is that I ordered from Zava at the same time, as I wanted to be a little bit ahead incase I got cut off.

Edited to add - I've just seen your latest pictures Flappy and you look incredible, you look like you belong on a catwalk!

ObsidianTree · 26/08/2024 21:13

I've just been doing some calculations for maintenance. My plan is to go up to 15mg and do that until Christmas. Then assuming I'll be at about BMI 25 by then, I plan to use my stock of pens to titrate down a bit. I have 2 X 10mg and 1 x 7.5mg of lower dose pens. In late Dec time I will go down to 10mg for 2 months then 1 month at 7.5mg. this will also coincide with the pens expiry dates. I will aim to move to Oshik in Nov (or when nearing BMI 25) on their £20 plan to stay on their books but not order pens. Then in April once I am down to my last pen, I'll switch my maintenance plan to Oshik. Possibly settling on 10mg as my maintenance dose. Or possibly going down to 5mg if 7.5mg is too strong.

I have emailed Oshik asking questions about this. Will see what they say about doing their £20 plan until my stock runs out!

@BlackFriYay do you plan to come off MJ completely?

@BlackFriYay do you plan to come off MJ completely?

I haven't decided yet, I'm quite torn down the middle.

In an ideal world I'd be done once I used up my remaining pens, but on the flip side I'm not 100% confident about keeping it off without the medication, hence the dithering about whether to keep ordering or not.

My OH is worried about the fact I have 2 full pens left after reaching my goal. He thinks I'm going to lose another couple of stone as I use them which would then be too much.

I've explained to him several times over about how reducing the dose for maintenance means upping my calories and therefore not losing more weight, but it's not really sinking in and he's convinced himself I'm going to end up ill.

He could barely contain the judgement when my last order came. Bloody men 🙄

montysma1 · 26/08/2024 22:33

Any sign of later dates 12.5 or 15mg?

I he ace 2 pens in hand but have to order by 2 sept I think with Med Express. ( 6 weeks max I think).

But if it's Oct dated it will be out of date before I use it.

I'm in a similar position as have two 15 pens and a 12.5 with octopus and Nov dates that I need to use next. But I need to order in about 4 weeks.

I saw on Red. Dit. Someone saying they got a 12.5mg pen with an April 2025 date but it was only one person so may not be true or maybe not all suppliers have 2025 expiry pens.

Choux · 27/08/2024 07:55

This would be my ideal maintenance plan:
"However, if Wilgus notices weight gain of more than 10 pounds over a six-month period, she takes a low “maintenance” dosage of Mounjaro for two weeks.
“This was at the recommendation of my doctor, and since I’m only using two of the Mounjaro pens for the maintenance doses (instead of all four in a monthly pack), it is much more affordable since one pack will last me a year,” she said to Women’s Health."
It's an American who was interviewed by a magazine and the article was posted in the New York Post.
nypost.com/2024/08/14/lifestyle/personal-trainer-reveals-why-she-quit-mounjaro-after-losing-55-lbs/

Suppliers should be allowed to prescribe to us periodically if they have our previous history of use and can see we are being responsible and just need a little help for a month or two after Christmas or during stressful times. I know this is similar to one of Oushk's maintenance plans but I object to being charged £20 a month just to be on their books when they do nothing for that £20.

Wonkypictureframe · 27/08/2024 08:06

MedExpress have said they’ll continue to prescribe while my BMI remains between 23-25. I’m BMI 24 now (incredibly still to me) and would like to lose another 9lbs which would see me at 23. I’ve had strong suppression throughout though and really need (for my own wellbeing and longer term sustainability) to be able to eat more and understand what a maintenance weight for me might be.

I’ve finished my last 10mg pen and have two 7.5mg in the fridge. I’m interested to see what going down will feel like. I’m hoping more appetite but the edge still off. I am lucky that I can afford to remain on a low dose but I really miss the social side of having at least a bit of an appetite! And I worry that I am eating too little for long term health.

NCfor24 · 27/08/2024 08:08

@BlackFriYay @ObsidianTree and other stockpilers like me, I saw something on the Oushk Facebook that Hira said she was happy to use the prescriber letters as evidence of stockpiling to see you haven't had a break and can therefore prescribe you your current/next dose even if you've had a gap since last ordering. I have ordered from MedExpress and Zava so I've got 2 new pens in my fridge but also have emails from both reminding me to order. If I stick with them I need to order now. If I am moving to Oushk I guess I don't need to worry, but also I don't need to start paying £20 a month for nothing whilst using up the pens I've already got.
I'd rather have this conversation personally with Hira though than trust this and end up having to go back down to 2.5mg.
I'm still not sure what to do though and whether I need to move suppliers. I have credit sitting with MedExpress from price match too.
I won't hit target for another 4 months at current rate.

ObsidianTree · 27/08/2024 08:44

Thanks @NCfor24 . That's good that Oshik will take you if you have a stock etc.

I haven't ordered form Zava for over 6 weeks now. Won't order another pen until sept. I did order a few pens from them with a few weeks gap, so hoping they accept that I was over stocked and didn't need the meds after 4 weeks. I will argue my case with them if they try and reject my next order! Hoping they just approve the order without question like they did for my other orders!

I would like to move over to Oshik once my BMI is nearly 25, which I think will be Nov. I guess I feel like I need to move then and not when my BMI might be lower than that as they might not accept me then.

That's really helpful (the info about Ousk) thank you!

My only problem is that I'm now BMI 23.7 and I don't think she accepts anybody under BMI 25 does she?

Mind you, I could always 'wait and see' how I get on and if I do put on a bit of weight which takes me to 25, I could try to sign up with them then.

I'm also getting the reminders to order from MedEx and Zava and feeling the pressure of my indecisiveness.

We go on holiday in two weeks and it would be nice to have that £200 odd as spending money 😕

It's worth an email to Oshik to see if they will take you? If you can send proof of your past orders etc, they might be open to it? Then ask if you can sign up once your out of meds if you still need them etc?

It's definitely worth a shot!

I'll send an email across today and I'll update with their answer for anybody else who finds themselves in the same position.

Finally home!
Decided to face the scales even though I've just come back so as I get focused straight away. Scales show 10-6 which is a whopping 8lbs more than when I left! I'm sure some of it is water but still annoying. Took 3.75 this morning from my brand new pen. I'll see how I get on this week but I won't go down to 2.5 until I'm 10st again. Oh well.

This happened to me when I got back from holiday in Sri Lanka. A few days later I was pretty much back to my pre holiday weight. I think the plane etc causes some water retention. So don't worry about it. It can't be real weight.

Hope you had a good holiday ☺️

I agree, probably water weight. Traveling and flying take a big toll on your body.

CiderJabs · 27/08/2024 11:40

Thanks both. Yes I think (and hope!) it's a lot of water retention. I am so tired and jet lagged as well, and back to manic work so feeling very sorry for myself :(

I was also up about 8lbs! So hopefully you will lose it as quick as I did!

Did you go long haul? Yes sucks having to go back to work jet lagged and exhausted 😞

This is interesting! I think already shops are advertising protein this/protein that. Big junk food suppliers are probably sweating about their profit margins now that a lot of people are turning away from processed food etc. It reminds me of that Southpark episode that has a lot of hidden truths. Mcdonalds for the first time has had a profit dip. It could be the price, but also could be the weight loss drug effect!

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGeT6nqL5/

For those that don't have tiktok, basically saying that weight loss drugs like ozempic are causing profits to dip for tobacco companies, gambling companies, fast food/snacks food companies and even pharma that doesn't sell weight loss drugs.

I’m not surprised, I can’t stand to eat junk anymore. Even thinking about it makes me feel a bit nauseous. I opt for fruit every time now when I want a bit of something sweet.

Prior to starting Mounjaro my breakfast used to be two fried eggs on a white bagel with cream cheese. My cholesterol results were not great. Now I have oatmeal with fruit. I’d be interested to see what my cholesterol results are like these days 🤔

Buffypaws · 27/08/2024 16:53

Haha! It is pretty lol if this takes out McDonalds.

I’ve had bloody loads lately though.

far less chocolate though.
