Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

You really don't owe anyone an explanation @izzy2076. I've been moving the subject along very quickly when people ask me any questions. Assuming you're not going to pull the celeb trick of releasing an exercise dvd or recipe book for your diet it's nobody's business.

I didn't weigh in last week as I was away so weighed this morning. Half a kilo down on my weight two weeks ago. I'd hazard a guess that last Monday I was probably more than that so I'm probably hiding a small gain. But I'll take the loss! My last injection was 11 days ago. It's not completely worn off but I could definitely eat more these last few days. I really tried to stay sensible while away, while also relaxing a bit. I'm hoping next week I will manage to get under 90kg. That would feel amazing.

ObsidianTree · 26/08/2024 08:31

Morning all,

@Femeia Oshik are going to be offering a maintenance plan. Different options depending on what you want to do. Don't think it's available yet but something worth looking into to see if any of their plans suit you. They will also take people on a BMI of 25. Can't remember the options but if you wanted to try coming off but wanted the option to restart there is a plan to pay £20 a month to stay with oshik and not buy MJ. Then if you feel you need MJ you can switch you maintenance plan to get pens again.

My mum asked me yesterday when we were out for lunch if I was injecting medication. So she's starting to get suspicious. I said no... And left it at that. She didn't ask further questions. Not sure if she believes me or not! She's certainly been to my house when I have my MJ boxes at the back of the top shelf of fridge and my sharp box etc on top of fridge. So she could have spotted them! I think I will have to tell her soon. But not yet! Will wait a bit longer! Will enjoy my holiday this week stress free! My son has seen me injecting MJ (as kids always walk in at the wrong time!) He's asked what it was and I just said 'my medicine'. He said 'oh ok' and no further questions! Luckily boys don't over think! I was worried he would say he's seen me injecting at lunch but luckily he was oblivious of the conversation or forgot 🤣

I don't know why I'm still reluctant to tell people. I think my mum might understand, but she would definitely tell my sister who would have some 'opinions'. It's annoying having to think about justifying taking MJ!

@ObsidianTree if my teenagers had caught me injecting it would be a very different response. They would accuse me of being a hypocrite as my dialogue with them is all about how we must learn to love our bodies etc... they wouldn't understand that it's a health thing rather than a vain thing!

ObsidianTree · 26/08/2024 08:41

@izzy2076 my son's 11 so not quite at the question everything stage luckily!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 26/08/2024 08:51

@Femeia I feel the same worries about maintenance. I don't feel like I had suppression until I went onto 10mg, where I've stayed.

My plan was to drop to 7.5mg then use 10mg pens to go down to 5mg doses and if necessary, 2.5mg. But this means I won't have a clue how many more pens I'll need and I won't be able to buy more later if I stop ordering soon as I'm 10lb from bmi 25. I'm wary of paying out to Oushk in case it's just wasted money - but mainly because they're so Facebook focussed and I'm not on there and refuse to join.

I think I'm very close to weighing less than my DP now which I will feel smug about as I didn't think it could ever happen. I'm just over 68kg and I'm sure that's what he said he was - he's at work so I can't make him get weighed yet.

izzy2076 · 26/08/2024 09:18

@PissedOffNeighbour22 which prescriber are you with? I'm pretty sure they would let you rejoin at a later date at 2.5 if you say you've gained ? If ousk let you then I'm sure the other pharmacists will follow without having to pay a retainer as it makes good business sense. Ousk are very very good at marketing but they won't be the only ones with a plan if others are now supporting maintenance.

BlackFriYay · 26/08/2024 09:35

I've done it, I've reached my goal weight of 9 stone 3lb. I've actually surpassed it by half a lb as I've had a 2lb odd whoosh overnight, god knows how when I demolished a Sunday roast in the evening but I'll take it 😁

RE telling other people - I've only told one friend as she was feeling despondent about struggling to lose much weight herself and I didn't want to compound that for her so I was open and told her about MJ.. and as soon as I did she stopped replying 😶

Bit awkward!

My Dbro and SIL know as my SIL is on it too. I've also told my mum but it goes in one ear and out of the other with her, she doesn't completely understand it 😁

Congratulations @BlackFriYay 🎊

Amazing achievement 👏

Try not worry about your friends reaction. We know from other threads there's alot of misinformation out there that clouds people's judgement.

omega4ever · 26/08/2024 09:52

@BlackFriYay wow.. huge congrats ... thats so great to hear and you must feel amazing. Well done!!!

re telling other people... I told my husband after I lost a stone... he was fine about it and I told one friend who asked me what I thought about it for herself not knowing I was on it . She started the next week and we are a good support team for each other.

I dont post often but I feel like I know you all as have been on MJ since mid April having read all the original treads started by the wonderful @ObsidianTree .

Week 19 here... on 7.5mgs , its a bit slow atm. I'm desperate for a whoosh. 15.5kgs down and the lowest weight I've been for 15 years. BMI was 41.8 and now 36. still a long way to go though. I don't want to go up to 10mgs yet. I still feel some nausea for a day or two after jab. I think my body is fighting me getting any lower... maybe age is against me too... Im late 50s.

FlappyFish · 26/08/2024 10:18

@BlackFriYay Whoot!!!! And I stand by having a few bigger meals to get things moving.

With telling people. Anyone close to me knows. Anyone who has asked on FB I’ve said eating a lot less. I’ve messaged them though and said I’ve taken MJ. I have a wide assortment on FB and I don’t want to broadcast it. But I have no shame on it.

Introducing food back is odd. I’ve spent six months eating the same things on the whole. This weekend I had pizza for the second time. Enjoyed it. Was it worth the calories? Who cares at this point. I’ve said on another post maintaining weight has never been a challenge for me. It’s just I maintained at 14 stone. 😂

My weight goes up and down a couple of pounds but I’ve settled at 9.12.

This is me now. And yes, the bump under boob is my ribs. 😳 Always holding tummy in. It’s just I now have some sag.

Well done @BlackFriYay great news. What's your plan re- maintenance?

Maybe your friend hasn't heard about it so went off to research it? Hopefully they will come around.

@FlappyFish you look amazing. God I'd love a rub bump! Currently I still have lots of padding there!

I have told an ex colleague about MJ as I thought it would benefit her. But she knows no one I know so didn't seem a risk telling her. She's just started on it.

I had fallen into the old habit of avoiding scales for the last 18 days because I knew I had been "bad".
Not really bad just a bit hungry and craving starchy things, but like , 1 bag of crisps instead of 10 bags!
Not too bad really, but still.....
I think the hungryness and starchyness was down to a dodgy pen that arrived warm. It's still working but much less potent than 12.5mg should be.

Anyway, I finally went on the scales after 18 days and I had actually managed to lose 3lb and have hit 9stone dead and BMI 21. So that's good news.

I do have to stop the scales avoiding behaviour though, because that's when I go "Fuck it. I am a disaster, why bother?"........and eat shite.

I didn't intend to be still losing beyond 9 1/2 stone, but the bloody belly is still hanging in there. I mean, it's a fraction of its former self, but it's annoying me because the rest of me is skinny. I may just have to accept that it's middle aged mum of twins shape, or else save up for a tummy tuck!

I cant reasonably go much below 8 1/2 or folk will think I am ill.! Already getting the "far too thin" comments. Which I am not, I am just slim and normal with advanced FBS!

The only person I have told is a friend who promptly joined me on the journey in March. It's been good to have somebody to plot an scheme with. Both our husbands are in the dark and my cat continues his struggles with diabetis! Can't imagine dealing with the judginess, so I am not going to.
My husband coaches elite athletes in conditioning. He is adamant that you eat to lose, loads of protein etc. And that low calorie is bad. I cannot get it into his head that I am a middle aged woman who clearly has some kind of insulin resistance thing going on. I am not an elite athlete and cannot eat like one. Elite athletes are not normal bodies! That's why they are elite athletes. Anyway, I digressed into a wee rant there! Point is, I will never tell him!

So, a couple of 9 stone photos because I can! I have never taken photos of me for years and now I quite like it!
I think I might have a thigh gap😅
@FlappyFish I also have a boot obsession......because I can!

Well done everyone, you all look amazing!

ObsidianTree · 26/08/2024 13:18

@montysma1 the diabetic cat cover makes me laugh so much 🤣 how has he not figured out the weight loss and the diabetic cat medicine might be the reason!

You look amazing and not too skinny. Just right id say. BMI 21 is a pretty good BMI to be at. MJ is making me think I can aim for BMI 21 too. I think that would put me at maybe 10st ISH

OP posts:
FlappyFish · 26/08/2024 13:31

The diabetic cat of @montysma1 really is one of my funniest memories of our threads and it just cracked me up again. I’m glad it’s not just me on the knee high boot thing. I’ve always had heavy legs. You can see from the photos I’ve posted I never had a slimmer area. I am kind of the opposite of apple shape. Straight down after boobs. Carry weight on limbs 😂

My BMI is 21.7.

KeepingUndercover · 26/08/2024 13:35

The last time I lost a significant amount of weight I was so excited to be able to buy knee high boots that fit me. I couldn't even get wide leg ones to work before because the difference between my ankles and calves made them like wellies. Maybe I'll be able to buy a pair for winter!

I have been looking at holiday photos and I really need to go shopping again for smaller clothes. I think I look bigger than I actually am because everything is too big.

izzy2076 · 26/08/2024 14:16

@montysma1 hello fellow middle aged mum of twins. I looked 6 months pregnant ever since I birthed them 13 years ago. However, my stomach has gone down bar the bloody c section shelf at the bottom and I can see some abs poking through. I think lifting heavy weights helped. I hope I didn't sound smug! I'm still repping the c section shelf of doom!

NCfor24 · 26/08/2024 14:56

Middle aged twin mum here too!
I feel like I've been aiming to lose the "baby weight" since they were born...11½ years ago!
Big C-section overhang here, I reckon it still has a stone of fat in it, and another 7lb in the extra belly above my navel... I'm definitely a B shape from the side!
Also @izzy2076 every time you post I think it's me because I'm an Izzy!

ObsidianTree · 26/08/2024 15:05

Lol @NCfor24 the B shape is a good way to put it! I also must have a good stone and half to two stone in the belly and ribcage flubber!

Not had twins but 2 csect babies.

Yep, it's the bloody c section shelf I am stuck with! It looks worse than when I was heavy!
Mine are 16 so it's not going away!

ObsidianTree · 26/08/2024 15:25

I've seen on tiktok that the 2 year limit for MJ has now been removed. So we can stay on it for life if we want to! Woop woop! I've emailed Zava to see if they plan to change their terms and conditions. Would rather just stay with them instead of moving about if they might now offer for maintenance. But suppose Oshik seem more understanding etc. . but the price is quite high with them still.

I'm almost resigned to the fact I'll need a tummy tuck and then think I may as well have a boob uplift too whilst I'm at it! I have heard that it can continue to shrink up to a couple of years after losing the weight as the body redistributes it's fat stores again so I won't rush into it. I won't be able to anyway as I'll need to save up.

Wonkypictureframe · 26/08/2024 16:27

I’ve always carried weight on my stomach first and even when I was very slim as a teenager I still had a tummy. I’ve got no expectations of losing it. On the other hand, I get a thigh gap long before my BMI hits 25!

LOLing again at @montysma1‘s diabetic cat! My PT is also very keen for me to eat more (she was even before I went on MJ, not that I ever plan to confess that to her) and I have promised to up my intake for her with more lean protein.

Yet another person commenting on my weight loss on holiday, this time to DH. Who has managed to give them the impression I did by it by quitting drinking. Heaven knows what a boozer they must think I was!

Think it's something called an Apronectomy
