Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

@Pigriver well done on maintaining - it’s not easy - you’re doing brilliantly.

@izzy2076 carbs are such a huge part of our diet aren’t they? Or, should I say, weren’t they… I have had some comments from friends. One commented that I don’t eat anymore. I def eat, but I am now able to be super disciplined.

Girls, i’ve accidentally upset my very best friend. I made a careless comment on holiday about her bikini top cutting into her back (I’d fixed it with a new clasp as the clasp had snapped) it looked so painful. I don’t want the repair to fail (I think it will) & I definitely upset her. I felt awful about it. I definitely do not want to be one of those women who loses weight and thinks she can comment on another woman‘s body.

Aggggghhhhhh.

We have a long history of losing and gaining weight together and we have both been supportive of one another and encouraged ourselves to ‘cheat’ and ‘reward’ with food. I’m doing this journey solo as I can only cope with my own self if that makes sense?

That’s great, @ObsidianTree. Those mind games are horrible. I think we all get that.

I’m at the start of my holiday and while I have suppression, I’ve eaten more (and worse) this week than normal. There are two mirrors in the place we’re currently staying, one makes me look huge, and it’s making me miserable. I’m torturing myself that I’m basically back to where I started even though I KNOW that three stones have not reappeared.

Don't worry about eating more on holiday. Once you're home and back to normal it will be ok again. Don't worry about those pesky mirrors! Try and enjoy you holiday

@PissedOffNeighbour22 well done for the big loss! Making it into the 10s and not even realising! Amazing work!

@Seriestwo well done for fitting into size 16! Great work.

@Pigriver amazing that you have been off MJ for that long. Well done for maintaining your weight. That's great work.

@izzy2076 it's not nice when people feel they can comment about body weight. Just try and ignore them

Did your friend think you were commenting on her weight? Sounds like a misunderstanding. Hope things can be sorted out

Ok think I have caught up a bit!

Official weight day for me. Current weight 12st 6lbs. So a 2lb loss. That makes it 5st loss since starting dieting in January.

My BMI is 26.4.
Start weight Jan: 17st 6lbs
Current weight: 12st 6lbs
Total loss: 5st

izzy2076 · 24/08/2024 09:28

@ObsidianTree wow!!!!!!!! BMI 26!!! That's bloody fantastic!!! How do you feel!

@AgathaMystery that's tricky to navigate. You'll always be the larger lady on the inside and will be second guessing yourself in these situations.

BlackFriYay · 24/08/2024 09:32

Great work on hitting 5 stone lost Obsidian, that's an incredible amount of weight gone 👏 💪🏼

My latest 'loss' is my backside.. it has vanished and been replaced by a flat square. I've never been one who cared a jot about how my bum looked nor have I ever taken much notice of it.. until now.

I'm feeling a bit self conscious, not helped by my OH.

"Atleast you're being honest with yourself" he said when I expressed a bit of sadness about how it looks.

Cue a scowl from me, to which he then adds "what? Atleast you've said it yourself before someone else does"

He's always digging himself holes like this. He's autistic. The blunt no filter stings sometimes 😩

Honestly! I still feel fat 🤣

Was looking at my lumps today and my belly is still huge. So even though I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight, my body has changed and still looks like I have a way to go!

I also have lost my butt. Yet my big fat belly doesn't want to shift! Now noticing how uncomfortable it is it sit!

izzy2076 · 24/08/2024 10:26

@BlackFriYay ouch!!! One of my favourite autistic students is the oracle of truth when it comes to my appearance! She described me as having a 'botched square arse' recently. Prior to that she once called me a 'fat c...t' but admitted can't call me that anymore as I'm no longer fat (she said) She's the one person who I can trust to tell the truth, even if the delivery is somewhat harsh!

KrankyKumquat · 24/08/2024 10:45

@izzy2076
I remember your previous story about this student - thanks for the laugh again.

Bit disappointed this morning after just a 1/2 lb loss this week. I'd been on 7.5 for 3 weeks but dropped back to 5 due to the struggle to eat, too high weight loss and really bad dizziness. I've also tried introducing a few carbs into my diet (literally just 3 or 4 small boiled potatoes, or a banana or a crumpet each day, l haven't gone mad by any means). After a week, there's been a small improvement in the dizziness but seems to have impacted on weight loss. At least I haven't gained but a mite disappointed to see so little loss as it's felt like hard work this week. The half pound has tipped me into 40lbs lost in total, which is something, but I think I'll risk returning to the 7.5mg today.

izzy2076 · 24/08/2024 11:16

@KrankyKumquat I can't remember where you are with your loss but I'm on 7.5 and am losing about 100g a week! I think it's probably because we've got a lot less to lose. I actually think my body wants to maintain now on 7.5. I don't want to reduce my calories. Maybe give it another couple of weeks if the dizziness is better?

ObsidianTree · 24/08/2024 11:35

I think as we lose more weight we need to adjust our calorie intake. My BMR has dropped to about 1500. If I eat 1500 a day I'm probably going to maintain weight. I don't know how much im eating as I'm not counting calories, but if it gets to a point where I haven't lost for say 3/4 weeks, then I will need to work on keeping my calories to about 1200 and start tracking them again.

I'm 12.6st so 6lb off top of healthy bmi. Aiming to lose another 1st. I'm a little concerned because if this last week is anything like a maintenance phase would be (reduced dose and very slight increase in calories), it's still pretty restrictive. I can't blame menstruation due to my age (!) but just hoping mini stall this week is due to some other factor and things will pick up again next week.

KrankyKumquat · 24/08/2024 12:02

@ObsidianTree @izzy2076
I'm thinking maintenance is going to be a very finely balanced affair. Getting the right dose plus the exact right amount of calories to avoid further weight loss or weight gain. Unlike the high speed, helter skelter loss these last 14 weeks, it's gonna take constant vigilence and hard work and slog. Pity there isn't a test you could take which would work out your ideal dose and ideal calories. I haven't calorie counted since the first 2 or 3 weeks as I was comfortably below tdee and eating pretty much the same few things every day but can imagine having to be a bit more forensic about it all.
Anyhooo, onwards and upwards.

Wonkypictureframe · 24/08/2024 12:34

5 stones, @ObsidianTree . That’s amazing!

I too will always be the fat person, I have spent my holiday so far realising every five minutes or so that I look totally different to my mental image. Photos of me are… fine.

Maintaining is going to be really challenging. My calorie intake before I took MJ was probably no more than 1500 on average, some days much less. We’ll see I guess.

We’re staying somewhere we’ve been before. When I walked in, the very first comment was ‘what’s happened to you?!’. No British restraint here!

KrankyKumquat · 24/08/2024 12:47

@Wonkypictureframe
That's funny. I'm on a campsite in N.Wales catching up with other campers we haven't seen since last summer. No one's mentioned my weight loss - I want to scream 'never mind the weather, can't you see I've lost 3stone?' and show them my flat belly like a toddler.

Wonkypictureframe · 24/08/2024 12:59

I wish I had a flat belly! 😂

You need straight talking Europeans. Since I posted, another person has come along, waved a hand around my figure, and said ‘very good’. I’m soaking it up.

Haven’t been able to RTFT, but anyone else on the max dose (15mg)? I’m on week 2 of it and feel absolutely rubbish. I have flu-like body ache symptoms, nausea, no appetite nor desire for food…I take two bites and have to force myself to continue in order to get enough nutrition. I was hoping the side effects would fade but as this is week 2 now it’s not likely. I’m taking electrolytes which help with the body aches but honestly, it’s awful. I’ll be tapering back down a dose after this, but I have two more weeks left and not on the NHS so can’t really waste the money 😣

Yes, I've just had similar after 3rd dose of 10mg. I'm still undecided on if, when or what dose I'll take next. Horrific!

ObsidianTree · 24/08/2024 13:40

Interesting article about ozempic. Probably is similar to way that Mounjaro works. I have always thought that Mounjaro must do more than just restrict appetite and make you feel fuller quicker. Makes sense that it could speed up metabolism also. I've had diets in the past where I've stuck to 1200 cals but not lost, yet now I can eat 1500 and lose well.

Yes maintenance will be a challenge. I think by then, if I want to be able to eat more, I will need to add exercise! And definitely calorie count more!

Perhaps this is a sign we need to step back a dose to what was tolerable?

Definitely titrate back down to 12.5mg. you can take 12.5mg from the 15mg pen. Couldn't tell you how many clicks that would be though!

Generally, those symptoms mean that your dose is too high and you should move back down until 12.5mg is no longer working for you.
