Mounjaro February to April 24 starters

Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

The Mounjaro August thread 2 was where the repeat needle use was mentioned.

I think the mirena query was on a new user thread as well.

Oh right. Yeah I don't keep up with those. So many same questions answered over and over!

Great news @April88 . Well done ☺️

I had a look at Oshik prices and they are quite pricey for higher doses. Shame

Morning everyone

Well done everyone on their loses/NSV.

I’ve reached a healthy bmi this week !
Start weight 16 12
Mounjaro start weight 15 2
current weight 10 10.

I’m in contact with Oushk pharmacy about seeing if I can transfer over to them on their new maintenance plans. I’ve got 2x10mg and 1x7.5 so I’d like to see if I can stay on 7.5mg with them for a while the when I’m ready pay the £20p/m to be able to go back on it if I need with a lower bmi.

They’re meant to be ringing today so I’ll update you.

I've asked a similar question of them. I'm still a stone or something away from healthy BMI but have 2 pens to use still. I want to switch as I really want a maintenance plan and their £20 retainer plan seems ideal.

For maintaining you get free delivery and 15% off so may be worth switching just before a healthy BMI (they said they wouldn’t take on people under 25 so I’ll be interested in what they say).

MelissaLouRocks · 19/08/2024 12:20

Just been reading that thread @Choux, it reads like they've all grown up with their heads underground and they've never learnt to read!

One comment in particular, the person in question had done their first jab less than an hour before. They said there was no noticeable change for them, and they were really disappointed.

People never cease to amaze me...

Yes maybe you're right. I also have some stock of pens I could use before switching. So would be interested in your question to them also. Would be nice to pay £20 a month to keep an account and change subscription once I need pens again.

I've just checked my last order and with a special discount of 15%, my 10mg was £159.99. Take off the £6.99 postage, it would have been £153 if on the maintenance plan. Is this much more than others? I was going to suggest paying £20 a month for the basic plan, while you use up your stocks, then switch after 3months to the maintenance plan but can see you've already figured this 😉
I'm thinking I'll probably do the taper plan to get as low as possible, then switch to maintenance.

Even worse there's a second user who took it at 9.30 this morning wondering why she is still hungry and wanted lunch. She hasn't even read the last 30 posts on the thread to see the question has already been asked!

Maybe amongst it's many miracles, MJ will also turn out to propagate brain cells. 😏

I just messaged Oshik about their maintenance plan. Might as well try to move on over.

Does anyone know how you sign up to the maintenance plan?

I don't think it's been put onto the ordering page yet, they only released the details Thursday I think. I think Hira said there'd be a consultation first aswell.

KrankyKumquat · 19/08/2024 14:53

@ObsidianTree
Just thought - might be worth joining Oushk Support Group on FB too as everything gets announced on there first. Don't worry, it's not too crazy or noisy and you can access webinars, etc then too.

ObsidianTree · 19/08/2024 14:57

Ok thanks @KrankyKumquat . I'll join now

March starter here too. Thanks for starting the thread. It's nice to have somewhere to share maintenance thoughts without all the same starter questions being repeatedly asked. (though I appreciate everyone is new at some point).
Mounjaro has really been a game changer for me, PCOS sufferer and had been losing and gaining the same stone for years.

SW 13st 6
CW 10st 12
GW 9st 10 - though not 100% set on that.

Currently on wk 21, have gone up the doses as per schedule and so on first dose of 12.5. Have 15 in the fridge and hoping I won't need to buy anymore but not sure on maintenence plan at all yet.

🎉🎉🎉 Finally made it into the 12s which is a number I last saw during my first pregnancy 7 years ago when the weight started to go back on.

Still half a stone to go until I'm only overweight but it's been a big boost with the summer holidays making it harder to plan meals and focus on me. I'm now down 55lb which is nearly 24% of my 16st 12 starting weight 🎉

I'm starting to think more about maintenance now - I know there seem to be 3 pharmacies offering maintenance now. Does anyone know if bolt/med express/oushk will accept a switch below bmi 30 or do I need to make a decision in the next couple of weeks?

Moanranger · 19/08/2024 18:47

Reporting from the holiday front, end of day 3:
So it’s a buffet breakfast & lunch (lunch pretty healthy choices, fruit, salad, veg, protein). Then a 3 course dinner at8:30. Apparently the Spaniards thought any earlier was the crack of dawn’s arse! Dinner finishes by 10:30 & is entirely bereft of veg.
Today we went wine tasting - I could drink little & it was so hot I felt ill. So tonight I am skipping dinner & opting for a protein bar. I simply am not hungry, am chatted out, & cannot bear the thought of sitting til 10:30
Bringing scales was genius. I have recorded my lowest weight to date.
The last two nights this week we don’t sit down to eat til 10:30, which means a likely 12:30amfinish. I may well skip dinner those two nights as well.
Re noticing WL, I last saw most of this group I am with 2 yrs ago. Only 1 person, a retired medic, said anything. I am sure others have noticed. Also, most of the group is heavier than when I last saw them.
My suppression on 5mg continues to be good, I wouldn’t have been able to turn down paid for food & drink without MJ

Choux · 19/08/2024 18:51

Congratulations @rainbowsandinfinitesparkles And I am not sure I have seen a higher percentage lost than yours. 24% is incredible.

Bolt and MedExpress should both accept you as I have used both while my BMI was sub 30. You just need to prove you have previously had MJ prescriptions from another supplier and supply your weight. They may also ask for photos but I don't think Bolt asked me for those.

KeepingUndercover · 19/08/2024 19:00

That is an impressive loss @rainbowsandinfinitesparkles, I'm on 24% loss but I am nowhere near thinking about maintenance sadly.

@Moanranger the Spanish do like to eat late! I'm not sure how well I'd cope with that currently. Hope you manage it all ok.

I asked Oushk about moving over for maintenance and got a standard response telling me to join the Facebook group.

rainbowsandinfinitesparkles · 19/08/2024 21:12

@KeepingUndercover I still have around 2.5 stone to BMI 25 but in reality I'm thinking probably got 3.5 to go so still a way off yet but I feel like I need to start focusing on it and having a plan now.

MJqueen · 19/08/2024 21:16

@KeepingUndercover @rainbowsandinfinitesparkles

I'm at a very similar loss to you both, around 24%, but also nowhere near maintenance yet. I need to lose another 3.5 stone to hit the top of my BMI range.

I calculated tonight, if I get to BMI 25ish I'll have lost more than 40% of my starting weight. 😱 I'm hoping to be there by Christmas but a couple of trips booked between now and then that I expect will slow progress. Feb/March might be more realistic.

Also interested in the maintenance conversations. The £20 subscription one, is that a lost £20/month or does it build a credit in an account to spend later? Assuming that guidance for maintenance will continue to evolve - someone posted previously that the 2 year limit has already been lifted - I feel that it's exploitative that patients have to pay to remain on a list to access medically-required prescriptions. Either we are eligible or we aren't. Certainly £20/month adds up if you've got a few thousand on your maintenance list...

It also bothers me that for some people at least, the reason the meds are working is because it's addressing our genuine hormonal issues which will just come back if we aren't allowed to remain on the meds long term. I've had metformin before and it just made me nauseous. I haven't had any bad side effects on mounjaro.

Who would have thought I'd have reason to be grateful that I won't hit a healthy BMI for a few months yet?! Haha, gives the powers that be time to sort through their protocols.

Moanranger · 19/08/2024 21:23

@KeepingUndercover Thanks! About to hit the sack & it is so nice to feel comfortable, not like a stuffed 🦃!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 19/08/2024 22:20

I'm less than 1lb from a 5st loss now. Also very close to being the same weight as my DP. He's put a few pounds on and is almost at bmi 25. I'm within a kg of his weight now which I never thought was possible.

@MJqueen my DP said exactly what you said when I told him about the £20 a month fee. He thinks I'd just be throwing money at them for nothing, especially as I'll have to sign up soon and I still have 4 pens in the fridge so that's £80 already that I'd get nothing in return for.
I'm a bit disappointed in the Oushk reply to @NCfor24 as I'm not on Facebook and won't be joining just so I can become a customer of theirs.

AgathaMystery · 19/08/2024 22:34

Hey ladies! Glad you’re all well. It is freaking BOILING here and I have zero appetite. Am bloated on water though.

@PissedOffNeighbour22 same here - I’m not joining FB but am keen on a maintenance plan. I actually work for a large family-owned pharmacy chain & have booked in a meeting with the MD next month as I want to talk to him about setting something up for maintenance users. I’ll let you all know if I have any success.

@ObsidianTree stallsville here too but I’m okay with it. The suppression is STRONG and tho I don’t know if I’m going to go up to 10mg. I’ve got 6 or 7 doses of 7.5mg left and then a 10mg pen but I might count the clicks. Not sure yet.
