Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

@ObsidianTree I use the app and have no idea how to find messages. But thanks for setting this up.

CiderJabs · 17/08/2024 21:23

@FlappyFish good luck with your swimming!!! You'll be a gym bunny in no time :))))

I'm still on holiday. Came without scales so not sure where my weight is. Not been eating that much but more than I would at home. Also been having 1/2 drinks a day. It's so bloody hot though.

Decided I'll message health express about maintenance. I'll report back.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 18/08/2024 00:37

I counted the clicks on my 10mg pen to give myself 8mg (48 clicks). But weirdly there is a blue lump where I injected, and also there was some medicine on my skin after I took the needle out. This has never happened before! Do you think I nicked a blood vessel? Hopefully this won't affect my dose too much? 😬

izzy2076 · 18/08/2024 10:29

@Wonkypictureframe it's really depressing how much they need to pay out of pocket. Is the price high because insurance pays for it? It seems immoral that a month costs 5/6 times as much in the USA than here. Obesity is already a class issue in the US.

RunningAndSinging · 18/08/2024 10:48

I have just gone up to 5mg (again after my restart) and have had quite bad side effects again. I think I am going to have to quit unfortunately. 2.5mg doesn’t have much effect at all (possibly holds a maintain) and 5mg now makes me too ill to be sustainable. I may try counting clicks next week to get 3 or 4 mg as I have a whole 5mg pen left and it does seem a waste. I may go back to Wegovy as I tolerated that for a long time before I started Mounjaro. It is so frustrating as I did fine with Mounjaro for a good few months but I think it must be me that has changed rather than having a bad batch after all.

Choux · 18/08/2024 11:00

@RunningAndSinging sorry it's not working well for you. You may have explained somewhere but why did you stop before? Because of side effects? What dose were you on then?

Can you link the side effects to any particular food or drink you are having eg after the higher fat foods you eat?

It could be that you are very sensitive to terzepitide and a dose between 2.5 and 5 would give you enough suppression with manageable side effects. As you have a pen perhaps next week or once the side effects wear off if longer do 3mg and then, depending how that goes stick at 3 or try 3.3. Titrate up very slowly to minimse the chance of strong side effects.

KrankyKumquat · 18/08/2024 11:08

For the first time since I started on MJ 14 weeks ago, I counted clicks last night. 3 weeks on 7.5 and I've lost 11lbs which i know is not healthy. I've had zero appetite the whole 3 weeks and really struggled with dizziness, and a zoned out feeling, from first thing in the morning, so that's before I even have a chance to eat and despite a good meal the night before. I know my BP has gone very low but now wondering about blood sugars too. I've been eating but lack of appetite is making eating a constant struggle. I've never had significant adverse side effects but this dizziness issue has always been a feature which has got so much worse. Anyway back on 5mg to see if this helps and gives me chance to refuel. Grateful for any insights or advice from others.

Thank you. I will probably try this. I got up to 10mg without much problem and then suddenly got really ill after a dose with a new 10mg pen. I cut it down to 5mg by counting clicks the following week and had the same problem. I had bad diarrhoea, pain, sulphur burps and vomiting for about 3 days both weeks. I took a break (partly because I was going on holiday and partly because of the side effects) and restarted at 2.5mg. No problem with the 2.5 nor much suppression. After my 5mg this week I am having a repeat of my bad side effects - they are not as bad but getting close.

I am really upset as it suited me so well before and I was losing weight steadily. I am worried that I will gain everything back and not have this option any more.

I don’t think it is related to particular foods but will have a think about that.

Seriestwo · 18/08/2024 13:16

Thanks for the DM about this thread.

I started in Feb, I seem to be sensitive to the drug because it lasts more than a week.

I had a month long break due to some family illness, made a mistake of restarting on 7.5mg, realsied that was silly about half way through the injection, landed up in hospital overnight to manage brutal vomiting, and am feeling better 5 days on. Oops.

im going to go back on it, I have been obese for 35 years and have done all the diets, all the memberships, the NHS obesity management programme - and I’m still fat.

I’ve dropped about 40lbs and have about 30 to go.

Amazingly, I have shifted from “obese” to “overweight” on my BMI.

I can’t believe that. It is witchcrafts.

so, despite being really unwell for the best part of a week I’m not giving up on this. It is the only thing that has worked and as I’m in my 50s and have high BP and would like to live a healthy crone stage of life - well, what choice is there?

Just wanted to say thank you so much to all those who've wished me well, plus those sending messages.

I'm incredibly grateful for your support and it's really keeping my pecker up... oooh err missus. 😋

My carer brought my travel scales in, bless her. I've put on about 4lbs, but that's hardly surprising as I've got 4 drips in, a catheter, and probably pints of fluid, so I'm good with that!

Hope everyone else doing well, good luck to you all. 💐

So happy to read that things seem to be moving in a positive direction with your health problems. Long may it continue and no more hospital stays 🤗

Thanks @Thebaldprimadonna

An unexpected NSV. Away on holiday and just put a towel round myself and realised it actually does go all the way around. I was expecting a gap as we have extra large towels at home and your regular sort is usually a bit small. I'm normal towel sized!

Wonkypictureframe · 19/08/2024 09:09

Yay! That’s brilliant.

ObsidianTree · 19/08/2024 09:43

Morning all, had a busy weekend so not been able to catch up much.

Will go back and have a read soon.

The main thread has moved on a lot and is now on to thread 20. I have to say, when I do go on I barely recognise any names anymore. It was the right time to create this I think!

Weight wise I am mostly in stallsville. Was away for the weekend and expected a gain but have stayed the same so that's good. I think now that I am down to my last stone to lose until I get to BMI 25, it's probably going to take a long time.

Well done for all the NSVs ☺️

Sorry it isn't going well. I think counting clicks is a good idea. I lot of people struggle going from 2.5 to 5. Go down to like 45 clicks which is about 3.75mg. Maybe that would be more tolerable?

Morning all. Hope you're all well.

I was wondering whether anybody else has been waking up with body aches?! My wrists especially were so painful this morning.

I vaguely remember having similar symptoms when I started but I'm all the way up to 10mg now and my last injection was last Wednesday. It seems a bit odd for that to happen now don't you think?

I'm hoping it's that and not bloody covid again.

Choux · 19/08/2024 11:07

I have had a quiet weekend as just back from holiday wanted to eat well and get a few pounds (ounces lol) off. Consequently I have been on the weight loss injection threads a fair bit. I am pretty much done with the other threads now as I have seen:

1 someone saying they used the same needle twice but it was ok as it was only 30 seconds apart. She already had a pack of 100 needles so didn't need to reuse it. When I pointed out the infection risk and that she already had needles I got a 'not interested in getting into a debate with you' response.
2 the same user is now experiencing nausea - it turns out she took the 2.5mg 4th dose and bonus dose together as she was keen to move up.
3 someone asking within a discussion about the pill and Mounjaro if the Mirena coil can be impacted by taking Mounjaro. I can understand why she wants to be absolutely sure she won't get pregnant but it shows not much understanding of how the drug you are taking works.

Plus multiple questions which are answered in the patient information leaflet re moving dose days etc. Maybe I was just as unsure in the early days but I read the leaflet first!

ObsidianTree · 19/08/2024 11:24

@Choux was that on the main mj thread? Or generally on the board?

OP posts:
KrankyKumquat · 19/08/2024 11:29

@Choux
I noticed on a small FB page linked directly to a pharmacy, a message asking members not to discuss 5th dose, fiddling with clicks etc and that any such posts would be deleted. This was a very new stance. I suspect, behind the scenes, some pressure being exerted on prescribers re social media and wonder how long MN will be able to facilitate discussions like the one's you mention.

susiedaisy1912 · 19/08/2024 11:32

I Can't seem to cope with side effects on anything higher than 3.75mg dose in one jab so this week I'm going to try two jabs of 2.5mg one yesterday and one on Wednesday to see if that makes it easier.

Choux · 19/08/2024 11:35

ObsidianTree · 19/08/2024 11:24

@Choux was that on the main mj thread? Or generally on the board?

The Mounjaro August thread 2 was where the repeat needle use was mentioned.

I think the mirena query was on a new user thread as well.

April88 · 19/08/2024 11:44

Morning everyone

Well done everyone on their loses/NSV.

I’ve reached a healthy bmi this week !
Start weight 16 12
Mounjaro start weight 15 2
current weight 10 10.

I’m in contact with Oushk pharmacy about seeing if I can transfer over to them on their new maintenance plans. I’ve got 2x10mg and 1x7.5 so I’d like to see if I can stay on 7.5mg with them for a while the when I’m ready pay the £20p/m to be able to go back on it if I need with a lower bmi.

They’re meant to be ringing today so I’ll update you.
