Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread for those that started quite early on and would like a space to chat with others that started around the same time. Like the threads that are dedicated to those starting in May, June, July etc thought it would be nice to have a space for people have have been on for similar amount of time.

Well I am taking my scales!✈️. They packed very nicely.
A possible NSV - I stupidly put 10 litres of unleaded in my diesel car last night, so 2 1/2 hrs waiting for it to be sorted. The thought crossed my mind to buy a bottle of wine 🍷 to consume while I waited, (I was at an Asda forecourt) but easily resisted thanks to MJ. Fortunately I had a thick book to read.

Thanks, @KrankyKumquat . That does sound really interesting. But it will only be available to existing users - you won’t be able to transfer into it?

I’m assuming there’s a chance my BMI will edge back over 25 after my holiday that starts next week so I might be able to jump in!

@Wonkypictureframe
She said taking on a new patient at bmi 22, for example, who wanted to maintain would be too risky for on-line prescribing as it wouldn't be possible to verify the MJ treatment history fully but would be happy to discuss with individuals - I'm guessing she means if borderline 24/25.

I bought Renpho scales yesterday when I hit BMI 24 as I think the next stage needs to be more muscle. How humbling they are. Some decent stats, and my metabolic age is only two more than my actual, but my body fat still sits firmly in obese and my subcutaneous fat is way higher than I’d like too. Not a huge surprise as I can see for myself that I still have plenty of fat, and quite motivating.

Having these from the beginning has helped a lot. But it was scary to see the fat percentage then (you can imagine being over 21 stone!!)

I've got similar scales at home and they're very similar to the official ones at the gym I use every four weeks.

I lost 10 pounds over the last four weeks but the fat went down 6kg so I know the gym is really helping.

izzy2076 · 17/08/2024 08:09

How reliable are the scales? I'm thinking of purchasing them. I wish I'd taken stats including blood work, at the start of this!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 17/08/2024 08:36

@izzy2076 not sure how accurate they are but I wish I'd had mine at the start. I'd love to have seen the visceral fat levels around my organs - it's come down a lot while I've had the scales but I'd already lost the majority of the weight before I bought them.

I was looking at the blood tests that places like Lloyds do and I wish I'd had one done before I started MJ so I could compare before and after.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 17/08/2024 08:47

Found a pair of jeans in my wardrobe yesterday that weren't part of my initial throw out of too big clothes as they were tight enough to keep at the time. Tried them on to see how big they were and they were like clown trousers 😂

I went down to show my DP and the shock on his face was hilarious. He genuinely couldn't believe how huge they were. There's inches to spare on the thighs too - they were tight when I bought them 🤯.

@MelissaLouRocks - please let me know if I can Amazon you anything? I have no idea if Uk hospitals would accept Amazon deliveries, but happy to try it!

In a new NSV, I have been able to take off my engagement ring for the first time in forever - and had it serviced. It has been replated in white gold and the diamond reseated and looks like new. The jewellers said I was lucky because the prongs holding the diamond had really eroded over the last 20+ years and I could have lost the stone. I cannot stop looking at the sparkle.

That's so incredibly kind, thank you. My carer should be here at lunchtime laden like a pack horse, so I think will be OK, but thank you again. And what a lovely NSV .💐

MelissaLouRocks · 17/08/2024 09:21

Thanks so much @FlappyFish, glad you're still doing well!

NextPrimeMinister · 17/08/2024 10:20

@PissedOffNeighbour22 that's unreal!!!

How much have you lost overall?

@KrankyKumquat thank you for the maintenance update, I'm very tempted to move to them now while I'm still at 26 bmi. I feel quite relieved! For the third option, was it paying a monthly £20 retainer, which would allow you buy a full pen if bmi went over 25?

NCfor24 · 17/08/2024 10:46

Just caught up...
@MelissaLouRocks urgh! But really hope this is it and you're on the mend now
@PissedOffNeighbour22 I gained 4lb in 4 days camping but it came off within the week. Demoralising but real life I guess.
@KrankyKumquat sounds so reassuring! Zava have emailed to remind me to order but I have a new 10 & 7.5 pen to use. I don't want to buy any more but I also don't want to have no one selling to me later on. Don't know what to do!

Weighed in today after missing target by ¼lb yesterday. Target hit! 3st ½lb lost so just snuck into the 10st bracket and new target of 9st 12lb set as suggested by Nutracheck. I guess once I get there I'll be thinking about a final weight and maintenance.

I'm lighter now than in 2017/18....I ran a marathon each of those years! I've put off running again as last time I tried my hips and knees were agony. But I did weigh 14st. I really need to start moving and toning so just need to figure out what to do. Marathon runner me was smaller than I am now but 1/2 stone heavier so muscle makes a real difference!
I also wish I'd used some analysis scales at the start! I'm going to buy some as soon as I'm home from holiday in a fortnight. The challenge now is to stay under 11st on my hols!

Manypaws · 17/08/2024 10:59

Hello, thinking of starting so interested to hear all of your stories

izzy2076 · 17/08/2024 11:11

NSV I danced with 20 something girls in bikinis wearing my swimming costume on a boat yesterday. I looked like your favourite pissed (although I don't drink!) auntie at a wedding. Deflated bingo wings flapping in the wind. But I did not care. The victory bit is not so much about what I looked like but the fact I have not been able to dance since a nasty leg injury 4 years ago and consequent metal plates in my leg. These meds have made the arthritis much better plus I'm less fearful about injury now there's less of me.

ObsidianTree · 17/08/2024 11:24

MelissaLouRocks · 16/08/2024 13:23

Thank you so much. I won't be disappearing! You guys are all I have to keep me going other than daughter and carer.

The surgery was almost 7 hours, they were thorough and got everything they could find, some literally only mm's long but apparently can make all the difference. I'm already feeling much better, so everything crossed.

As for where I will end up, it's wait and see. As you know it was an infection that I could never get rid of, became resistant to too many antib's. Hopefully removing any remnants will help my body kick it into touch, that's the idea anyway. Other options long term are permanent IV antib's or a wooden box. 🙄

But things looking much better than they have for a while, so am trying to stay positive. Nurses bringing daughter to see me later, so something to look forward to. 😄

Gosh I really hope the op has gone well and you no longer are in and out of hospital. That's the dream. Makes sense to come off MJ currently as bowels can be a bit difficult after surgery and would probably be worse on MJ! Hope you recover soon x

@MelissaLouRocks it sounds like you've been to hell and back! Wishing you so much luck with the recovery. Have you got some good podcasts to listen to?

Basically yes. It would allow you to remain, officially, under their care, with access to advice and support and, if you began to gain weight/see resumption of other health conditions, jump back onto a pen regardless of bmi (even if still under bmi 25). I guess it gets round the worry of having to wait till back at bmi 30 before you could get prescribed again.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 17/08/2024 13:07

@NextPrimeMinister I've lost 4st 12lb which is 30.7% of my body weight.

Finally got down below 11st today! Now I have less than a stone to target and bmi now 26.9.
I really need to think about what to do re further MJ orders and if I should look to move to Oushk to be on the 'just in case' list.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 17/08/2024 13:13

@KrankyKumquat Thanks for that info! I will be looking to move from Asda the next time I order as they're still very rigid and don't offer maintenance.

ObsidianTree · 17/08/2024 15:17

Thanks @KrankyKumquat. I think I might end up moving to oshik. As long as I move over before I get to BMI 25 then I should be ok. This does help a lot with the not having to worry etc.

That’s amazing, @PissedOffNeighbour22!

I measured myself today as my PT wanted to work out an eating plan for me. The last time I did it was a year ago. I am 12” smaller around the waist. Everything has shrunk. But that one just knocked me sideways!

That is incredible!! I've lost around 5 inches from my waist and was pleased with that 😀

AgathaMystery · 17/08/2024 16:46

Amazing all round - you fabulous bunch of losers 🤗

I’m still away and it is very very hot. I’m 2kg heavier than I was 3 days ago (lowest weight in forever) but have drunk gallons of water and I reckon that must be it as it’s certainly not food.

Onward! Also my 1st 10mg pen is arriving at home this week. I still have a few doses in my 7.5mg that I have with me and then I have a whole 7.5mg pen at home too.

Would you think it a good idea to move up to the 10mg pen and use the 7.5mg for maintaining or vice versa? I mean I’ve still got 2stones to go actually.

Choux · 17/08/2024 17:12

Aaah so this is where all the early starters are hanging out. Hopefully a few of you remember me.

SW 188lbs on 6th March
CW 159lbs
29lbs lost so just over 2stone.
Am mid 50s.

I could have lost more but, due to nursing sick parents for 4 years this is the first year I have had no commitments (dad died last year and mum is in a care home) and so I have been saying yes to lots of weekends away or visiting friends and going on holidays. Not many people know I'm even dieting so have been split dosing and dropping down doses here and there so they don't notice as much. I am ready for a big weight loss focus for the next 2-3 months to get to goal.

@MelissaLouRocks I hope you have a good and speedy recovery. You always seem so upbeat no matter how many hospital admissions you are having. You're a marvel. Fingers crossed the surgery gives you good results.

I bought some new work trousers yesterday. Only from M&S and I think they are the exact same trousers in a 14 as I currently have in a 16. The 16s hang off me now. I liked how I looked in the 14s so much I didn't want to take them off!!! NSV - am almost looking forward to work next week so I can spend the day in them 😂

FlappyFish · 17/08/2024 18:02

Of course I remember you @Choux

The big thread is just too big now. All good. I will dip in and out of it, but I think for most of us it’s easier to have a smaller group and support that way. So glad @ObsidianTree set this up.

My NSV. Swimming booked in for tomorrow. I don’t care what I look like. Doing it for health now.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 17/08/2024 18:02

@Wonkypictureframe that's amazing!!

Last time I checked I was 9 inches smaller around the bust, waist and hips. 10 inches off the stomach apron and 5 inches off each thigh.
Wish I could lose more than 2 inches from my bingo wings though, they look dreadful.

ObsidianTree · 17/08/2024 19:18
