The first thread was almost full, so I thought I'd start a second so we can carry on the fab support!
I don't think I could manage tagging everyone!! But here is the link to the first thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5101435-mounjaro-july-2024?page=1

Oof still struggling with side effects after moving up from 3.75 to 5mg. Sulphur burps for nearly 2 days now, and a funny tummy in general. Feeling a bit low about it as really affected my enjoyment of my daughters gcse celebratory takeaway tonight because of not feeling well.
meant to be seeing and staying over at bf tomorrow but not sure if I’ll be able to (he doesn’t know and I’d rather not talk about it 😞)
off on holiday next week to DLP just me and the 3dc. I’d be due to inject again Tuesday evening (when we’re stopping at a hotel in France to break the drive). Diarrhoea on a long drive like that will be so awkward, not to mention in Disneyland itself!

wondering if I should go back to 3.75 next week… or miss entirely? But then I had thought it would help with the food bill 😆

User364837 · 22/08/2024 20:13

Peppermint oil capsules are arriving tomorrow so will report back if they help 🤞

NewLifter · 23/08/2024 06:51

I would definitely either reduce the dose or delay it. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

User364837 · 23/08/2024 07:44

Thanks, still feeling unwell and had diarrhoea all night but really hoping it eases today as it’s now day 4.

Erring towards going back to 3.75 rather than missing completely as I felt ok last week and don’t want to store up more issues with side effects when I get back.

LittleLlama · 23/08/2024 07:53

@User364837

Hope you feel better soon. I don’t know what kind of a takeaway you had but spicy food (even quite mild) now seems to upset my stomach.

Congratulations for your daughter on her GCSE results! And I hope you have a great time at Disney Land Paris.

User364837 · 23/08/2024 08:02

Thank you, yes you’re right spicy and rich food not the best idea! It was Thai but I made sure I only had mild stuff and didn’t manage much.

Mounjaroooooh · 23/08/2024 08:09

I'm just coming up to the end of week 3 on 5mg and the suppression has completely gone away, after week 1 I thought I'd be staying on 5 but I'm definitely going up to 7.5 after dose 4. Really struggling at the moment with wanting to eat, and haven't really had that since I started.

User364837 · 23/08/2024 08:31

It’s so strange how it’s not linear isn’t it.
i think that and the unpredictability of side effects are something I find quite difficult with this medication.
kudos to those who don’t work from home, I have to go to the office 3 days a week or so but think I’d struggle if I didn’t have the flexibility to stay home or swap days when I needed to.

cappycap · 23/08/2024 08:32

Weekly weigh in done. 2lbs off this week.

SW: 13 6lb 28/06
CW: 12 4lb 23/08

1st 2lb off in 8 weeks.

Not as fast as a lot of people but happy it's coming off.

cappycap · 23/08/2024 08:35

Just to add to my post above, I have never moved up to 5mg so only done 2.5mg jabs for the 8 weeks.
Maybe it would speed up on 5mg but I am still deciding whether to move up or not.

KeepinOn · 23/08/2024 11:26

Weigh in today! I'm down 1.1 kg from last week, which is a good amount I feel.

Still about 10kg to go before I'm below 30 bmi, I am getting more and more determined to never allow my weight to creep up like this again.

I'm thinking it'll take another 6-12 months before I reach target weight, and then another 12 months of maintenance. I've spent so many years not looking after my health, though, so I feel like it's worth it.

Well done, you're doing great.

I totally get what you're saying about being determined and the length of time it'll take to reach goal. I've lost just under 2 stone since being on MJ (7 weeks) and have around 3.5/4 stone to go...I know it's going to be a long process but I'm prepared for that now. This is the first time it's seemed doable, I was disappointed at first as I wasn't having the massive losses each week that some people are having, but I didn't get fat overnight and I'm not going to get slim overnight. I seem to now lose 2-3 lbs per week which is sustainable and healthy I think, don't get me wrong, I'd love to have one or two big losses in their as well but it's a marathon not a sprint and I'll get there in the end

KeepinOn · 23/08/2024 14:04

Yes, this has to be a fundamental change to the way I eat/think/live.

I've also booked my first yoga lesson in years, so I'm definitely working on that lifestyle change!

scattychicken · 23/08/2024 16:48

Nausea and also can’t stop burping today! Not smelly tho. Curious to see how the 5mg goes on Monday. Have a great weekend all.

Injection Number 8 this morning - third 5mg dose. Weigh-in Number 7:

Start weight: 15 st 8 lbs (BMI = 37.2)
Current weight: 14 st 0 lbs
Goal weight: 9 st 0 lbs (BMI = 21.5)
Week 1 Loss = 6 lbs
Week 2 Loss = 5 lbs
Week 3 Loss = 3 lbs
Week 4 Loss = 0 lbs
Week 5 Loss = 2 lbs
Week 6 Loss = 3 lbs
Week 7 Loss = 3 lbs

22lbs gone, which is 10% of my starting weight. I am really hoping to lose at least 1lb over the next week. 13!!!

No new reactions to 5mg yet - still feeling colder than usual. Food noises remain quiet, but I must confess that I plan on going to McDonald's next week to buy a "Grimace Shake" because I love all things blueberry. And I am very much looking forward to trying it.

I ordered my next pen and decided to stick with 5mg because it's been working well.

Well done everyone who is on this same journey. It's so good to see everyone's stories, successes, and struggles. 🥰

Ahhh my 'starting weight twin'!

I'm still one pound heavier than you though!

Well done 😍 you're doing amazing. I'm still stuck on 3.75mg with no plans to move up as yet!

Enjoy your shake!

It's nice to have a " twin". 😊 And it's really good that 3.75 is working for you. I hope that 5mg stays fine for me.

Good luck with the coming week.

LittleLlama · 24/08/2024 08:15

I have now completed week four of 5mg and I am continuing to lose a steady amount of weight each week.

Week 1 loss 1.6kg
Week 2 loss 1.1kg
Week 3 loss 1.2kg
Week 4 loss 1.4kg
Total loss on 2.5mg = 5.3kg

Week 5 loss 0.8kg
Week 6 loss 0.9kg
Week 7 loss 0.6kg
Week 8 loss 0.6kg
Total loss on 5.0mg = 2.9kg

Total weight loss = 8.3kg (or just over 18lbs)

I tried to use the bonus dose today but the pen broke midway through injecting myself. I think I got a half dose and will use the new pen on Wednesday, depending on how I feel.

As my appetite suppression is still really good and I have continued to lose weight, I have decided to continue with 5mg. This last week I have had so much more energy and no side effects that I managed to completed low impact exercises every day this week. My diet has been good particularly my protein intake.

The next two weeks might be difficult as I have a quite a few family and friends celebrations to attend, however I am feeling hopeful that I will not over eat at these events.

Good Luck to everyone!

MounjaroMunchie · 24/08/2024 08:20

Morning! It's the week 8 weigh in for me today.

SW - 12st 7.0lb
CW - 11st 4.8lb
Total loss - 16.2lbs

So still averaging out at roughly 2lb per week. Not going to lie, I would love it to be faster, but I know that 2lb per week is a healthy loss, and a bit more likely to stay off longer term.

I've had the 4th dose from my 5mg pen and will use the bonus dose next week. I've got my next pen ready to go and have decided I will be sticking with 5mg for now - it's working well, the effect is lasting the full week and apart from a little blip last weekend, I've been able to eat without issues.

I'm 5 weeks into a lifting programme at the gym and really enjoying it. I'm working towards progressive overload and have already been able to increase my woekoit volume by 27% in that time, lifting between 4 and 5 tonnes per session, depending on whether it's upper or lower body being worked.

Overall, I'm feeling good!

Lumirubin · 24/08/2024 08:32

Morning all!

Week 10 for me this morning and officially 2 and a half stone down. It's been steady losses of 2lbs a week the last few weeks which I'm happy with. I took the bonus dose out of my 5mg pen so slightly more than 5 I'd guess, not had any side effects apart from the odd episode of diarrhoea, but I ate a fair bit of (much needed) chocolate at work yesterday.

I've got my 7.5mg pen in the fridge for tomorrow, think I'm going to go for it as the suppression has definitely worn off and I'm still 2.5stone from target

Day 1 of week 5 - first dose of 5mg.
From feeling fab yesterday, I’ve a cracking headache and feel yucky.

I'm off on holiday today for 2 whole weeks. I’ve been having to get my friend to inject me, so thinking about leaving it at home, but 2 weeks is a long time to leave between jabs.

Has anyone else left 2 weeks between jabs?

I did, after my 3rd jab, I became unwell with an infection and just couldn't face injecting and feeling anymore tired than I was (MJ made me tired when first started).

I then had those 2 weeks off, then just started again at 2.5mg and I was fine.

I maintained my weight during the 2 weeks off. Then have steadily lost since. No issues when I started injecting again.

GoSummer676 · 24/08/2024 17:08

Ooh my scales wobbled under the next stone mark then settled at 11.0 (bmi27) I redid my measurements & I’ve lost a total of 11inches off bust hips and waist and dropped two dress sizes whoop. Have got a red itchy mark again near injection spot the second time this has happened. I already take anti histamine so hoping this isn’t going to become a regular thing.
My only negative is not a single person in my family inc. parents & sister has made one comment like “your looking healthy”… I’m mean ffs I’m now a size 12-14! It’s flipping obvious I’ve shrunk. I’ve done this 100% for me but I’m feeling pretty invisible at the moment as wife, mother, daughter & sibling. The only thing I can think is I’ve always been the fat one in the family and now I’m nearly the same size as my sister and mum…

HotCrossBunplease · 24/08/2024 18:19

So, here I am having just taken my first 5mg dose a few hours ago.

I’m a bit worried about side effects at, has anyone here taken it and had none at all?

My history is as follows:

SW 83kg (about 13 stone) (BMI 31)
GW 65 kg (about 10 stone)

Started Mounjaro 23 July.
Took week 3 off for holiday but ate sensibly.

Current weight 79kg (about 12.5 stone)

I have fitted back into some trousers that had been too tight for a long time, and people say they can see a difference.

Hoping to reach goal around Christmas, but will feel a massive benefit if I can even get back to 11 stone.

My approach to diet is basically stop snacking, eat less bread, don’t eat sweets and chocolate, no alcohol during the week and eat smaller portions with better ratio of vegetables to carbs.

The Mounjaro is helping me not crave carbs and chocolate and feel full on smaller portions, or a snack of fruit or carrot sticks etc does satisfy me. I liken the feeling to how you feel when you are off colour and just not hungry. Have to tell myself to eat. What is interesting is that when I start to eat I do enjoy the food. But I can stop! Pretty good.

As I got reasonable suppression on 2.5mg will be interesting to see how 5mg feels.

Oh that’s a real shame they haven’t mentioned it. You’ve made amazing progress. When did you start?

Do they have form for not paying attention to how you look? Not even your husband? Is it possible that they have felt that they have to be careful not to mention your weight in case it upsets you, and they have just trained themselves not to notice?
