The first thread was almost full, so I thought I'd start a second so we can carry on the fab support!
I don't think I could manage tagging everyone!! But here is the link to the first thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5101435-mounjaro-july-2024?page=1

I'm with you on that one @EternalFatalist - I've been bloody freezing for weeks so god knows how I'm going to cope with winter!

MounjaroMunchie · 28/09/2024 07:36

Weigh-in day for me, and it's 0.6lbs off. However, I've moved to new scales this week that weigh me 1.2lb heavier so in reality, I've lost 1.8lbs this week. Going with the heavier weight though as I will be using these going forwards. It will be useful for me to see changes in body fat / muscle etc when the main numbers don't seem to be moving.

Congrats @MounjaroMunchie !

It's weird, I've been freezing for ages also, I definitely feel the cold more than other people in general, but losing weight has made it worse. Is it a weight loss thing, or is it an MJ thing? I have a doctor's appointment coming up and I'm going to ask for a blood test to be sure I don't have an iron deficiency or a thyroid issue.

It is going to really get me down over the winter if I can't get to the bottom of it - the other day I was wearing leggings under jeans and 4 layers on my top half, with a woolen blanket throw, and only just about felt comfortable. In early Autumn! Really not looking forward to winter at this rate.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 28/09/2024 08:08

I have never had the issue of feeling cold so far on MJ, is anyone else not experiencing it? Like lots on the thread, my side effects have totally settled down - it's so weird how so many of us struggled at the same time and are all feeling better again.

I'm a daily weigher - it helps me to plot it all on a graph like @Lumirubin and see it smoothing into a curve. So yesterday I hit two stone off, but today 600g have gone back on so I'm not quite there yet. Lots of my clothes are too big, but I'm not in all of my stored-away clothes from thinner days yet. I'm buying a lot of things on Vinted to get through autumn!

User364837 · 28/09/2024 14:45

I’ve not had the feeling cold thing that I’ve noticed 🤷‍♀️

Lumirubin · 28/09/2024 17:04

The feeling cold is a MJ thing, I researched it in the early days when I was feeling it to the extreme. It used to be my first symptom post jab, although I don't seem to notice it as extremely these days. It's the way the drug affects some receptors in the hypothalamus of the brain (the part that controls central heating essentially), in the same way it can interrupt the body's usual hormonal response to hunger, it affects it's hormonal response to thermoregulation. So essentially your fancy new kitchen youve had installed (the appetite suppression/weight loss of MJ) has accidentally made your central heating system work less well because the two things are closely linked

SilenceInside · 28/09/2024 17:51

@Lumirubin thank you for explaining that, as I am another who is cold aallll the time now, much to my DP's amusement. I normally run hot, even when I was a lot less heavy, and being so massive definitely made me on the hot and sweaty side. But now, I've fished out my fluffy socks from the back of the drawer, and need a blanket plus sometimes two hot water bottles if I'm sitting down for any length of time. I've got a winter blanket on my bed, as well as my usual duvet - and unless I have hot water bottles, I can lie there shivering still!

Lumirubin · 28/09/2024 19:45

@SilenceInside I'm also a hot an sweaty club member pre MJ, even when I was much lighter. I'm absolutely seeing the cold effects of MJ as a bonus in everyday life! Not sure much of an evening when I'm sat on the sofa feeling like an ice block! But swings and roundabouts. I used to have a fringe which I ditched a little while back because it would make me hotter and just turn into a sweaty mess, but im considering having it cut back in!

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 28/09/2024 20:34

Yes I think overall I don't mind feeling cold. I used to get annoyed if I had to rush anywhere as I'd get hot and bothered, whereas now I actively want to walk quicker to warm up!

Alwayshockey · 28/09/2024 22:45

I'm confused about Voy pricing and wondering if I'm being ripped off. I'm being charged £229 for 7.5mg but the latest price comparison charts from Miss Mounjaro etc seem to show doses up to 10mg as £199 for ongoing customers, ie not with a new customer discount. Have they dropped their main prices? If they have and I'm still being charged the old prices then I'm being ripped off. If I clear my browser history, the website shows me the £199 prices, if I log in as me then the price shoots up to £229.....getting a very dodgy feeling here... Hope I'm wrong.

Lumirubin · 29/09/2024 08:47

@Alwayshockey this is interesting! My full price also showing as £229. It would make sense them changing their pricing structure in line with changing their referral code process so I wonder if they have dropped their prices to be more competitive and that's why they've made their referral incentive less lucrative. Interested to know if you manage to find anymore out

I've cleared my browser again this morning and it's showing me a price of £199, discounted to £149 for the first dose as a new customer....... I'm really not happy if they're now running 2 different subscription prices without being open about it.

I'm thinking of going to either Oushk or Family Chemist. Anyone know if either of them insist on contacting your GP? I haven't seen my GP in 2 years (very little chance of getting phone or F2F appointments here!) so I doubt they'd approve anything if contacted! Would also rather a supplier that doesn't ask for photos for every single renewal as although I'm 7 stone above a 25 BMI, I apparently look less overweight than that and so photos are a faff that always get queried. I must have vast amounts of internal fat as the GP always says I'm exaggerating my weight and makes me step on the scales to prove him wrong.

Lumirubin · 29/09/2024 13:41

@Alwayshockey I think it's more of a updating your GP as in they will send correspondence saying "X has been prescribed MJ" in the same way a&e would notify your GP of a visit, not asking GP for consent. They are prescribers in their own right so don't need consent from your GP if they deem you medically fit and you meet their criteria

Mounjaroooooh · 29/09/2024 14:26

Glad to see everyone is doing well. I've not been around for a bit, but still on it.

13 weeks in and I've lost 2 stones and 8 lbs, not the fastest but it's coming off and noticeable. I'm 4 lbs away from 11 stone, haven't been here for a long, long time. Doing at least 20,000 steps per day which I think is helping

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 29/09/2024 14:53

The GP doesn't have to approve @Alwayshockey it's for information only. I think it's better if it's on your medical records - serious side effects are rare, but they do happen and if I get rushed into hospital with stomach paralysis or ileus for example, I want my notes to show what I'm taking so I can be treated accordingly. Also, if MJ makes it's way onto NHS prescription at some point, it might be helpful to have existing records of it on the system if we want to be prescribed it in the future.

My scales are showing a two stone loss again today, but on the downside I pulled an abdominal muscle working out so have to rest this week - also it really hurts!

Thanks. I got concerned as there was a poster recently saying they'd been refused by their provider as the GP had written to the provider saying they hadn't seen the patient recently and therefore wouldn't approve it and the provider then cancelled the subscription. Think it was medexpress but not sure. If that's unusual then that's good.

Oh wow, I had never heard of that happening! That would be a worry - my GP got a notification from my online provider (Asda) and nothing happened, and they definitely haven't seen me in a long time but if it's happening to other people then it must be a possibility that it might.

Morning….Wow, I can’t believe it is nearly October..

Missed my usual posting day as we have been away, however, I did weigh myself on Saturday (with the same scales) for consistency (and checked this morning at home). End of week 13, which wasn’t unlucky for me as I have another steady but small loss of 0.4kg

Week 1 loss 1.6kg
Week 2 loss 1.1kg
Week 3 loss 1.2kg
Week 4 loss 1.4kg
Total loss on 2.5mg = 5.3kg

Week 5 loss 0.8kg
Week 6 loss 0.9kg
Week 7 loss 0.6kg
Week 8 loss 0.7kg
Week 9 loss 0.9kg
Week 10 loss 0.4kg
Week 11 loss 0.5kg
Week 12 loss 0.6kg
Week 13 loss 0.4kg
Total loss on 5.0mg = 5.8kg

Total weight loss = 11.1kg (24.4lbs).

No side effects this week but my appetite suppression is noticeably starting to wane now (even had a MacD on Saturday). I have therefore ordered 7.5mg for next time, although will only have 6mg as I am a little worried about possible side effects. Thanks IrisPallida for the tip re:marking the pen.

I received a compliment this week, with a family member saying I was “looking well” - code for you have lost a little weight in my family! I was also wearing a red dress which was very flattering.

LucyBnotG - I do set goals. Not just for weight loss (but for weekly/monthly tasks as it helps motivate me), but appreciate it is not helpful for everyone. My scales also tell me my % body fat, which has improved not just because of my weight loss but also exercising (I think). I have, like some of you, taken photos (saved to my “hidden” photo album) which I am aiming to do every two months.

WeepingInASunlitRoom - hope your abdominal muscle is a little less painful this week.

Lumirubin - Thanks for the information regarding feeling cold. I had to put the heating on yesterday evening and I am definitely going to have get my electric blanket back out! Mind you the weather has been awful!

Good Luck everyone!

Mounjaroooooh · 02/10/2024 14:54

Anyone who's recently started on 7.5 find the suppression isn't as good as 5?

MounjaroMunchie · 02/10/2024 18:09

Well done @diian - really hoping to see a 10 on the scales myself this weekend!

@Mounjaroooooh I'm due my third dose of 7.5mg tomorrow and I wouldn't say it was less suppression than 5mg, but it's certainly not more. I feel the same, but going up to this dose did get me out of a rubbish few weeks on the scales.

Lumirubin · 02/10/2024 19:23

@Mounjaroooooh I found the suppression was the same/maybe a little more, but the nausea was worse so I ended up only being able to eat things I REALLY fancied, which occasionally led me to eat not great balanced things. Oddly I'm on 2.5mg this week because I'm on holiday and wanted to enjoy food but didn't want to go cold turkey and the appetite suppression is still strong! My portion sizes are tiny, yet I'm able to eat ice cream and drink wine without any side effects. It's making me consider dropping back doses when I'm home

OP posts:
WeepingInASunlitRoom · 03/10/2024 06:58

That's interesting @Lumirubin - and I hope you're enjoying your holiday!

I feel like I was noticing a return of food noise but not exactly hunger towards injection day the past couple of weeks. Definitely feeling very snacky in the afternoons with that sort of nameless craving of 'I want to eat something but nothing sounds appealing' and it was starting to unsettle me a bit. I went up to 40 clicks of the 5mg pen this week (so 3mg I think) and that feeling has reduced.

I think my brain has got a bit fed up and thinks 'surely it's time to break the diet by now' as I'm fourteen weeks in which I guess is the limit of where willpower might have taken me in the past but the meds are making my body able to resist the urge I feel more of a conflict between body and brain than I have so far on MJ is what I mean and I would never make it past this point without the injections so I am interested to see what happens as I push through it - will it help my brain calm down and realise I don't need a binge, will it help my body and brain get back in alignment or does it indicate that I'll go totally off the rails if and when I come off the injections, I honestly don't know?

Happy to say that 3mg seems to be working anyway, no bad side effects and a bit more suppression, I find it amazing that I can feel a noticeable difference from a very small increase. Maybe I'll crawl my way up to 5mg tiny bit by tiny bit!

Mounjarorookie · 03/10/2024 21:44

back with an update. I didn’t update last week as I had only lost ounces and was somewhat p*ed off at my failure but back on track now.

So, today (just over 10 weeks in) I have lost a total of 22lbs. I’m now 11stone 6. I never wanted to lose more than 2 lb per week so that’s ok I think.
I have stayed at 45 clicks although I got the 5mg dosage pen so it will just last longer. Now on number 3 pen. I don’t really want to increase as I’m utterly terrified of not taking the drug and piling the weight back on so I almost want to slow it to a crawl ( as long as it keeps going). I know that’s probably not how it should be and I really need to give myself a good slap and get my act together about making sure I never return to the disgusting fat person I was.

Last week I was ravenous the day after my jab which totally freaked me out. It made me realise how utterly feeble I am and that I need to learn to handle being hungry. I was so angry to be honest. I would be happy never to feel hunger again but I know that’s utterly unrealistic and just taking the cowardly way out instead of facing reality head on.

On a positive note - I never had a particularly sweet tooth but I was out for coffee with my mother at the weekend and she ordered coffee and a cake each. I could barely eat it as it tasted like pure sugar to me so if that continues it’s not a disaster 😀.

onwards and downwards as we say!

SilenceInside · 04/10/2024 09:52

Another weigh-in and jab day, currently on 7.5mg and just started a new pen today.

Current stats:
SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 115kg (18st 1 lbs)
GW: 112kg (17st 9 lbs) interim goal

Total Loss to date: 24kg/53 lbs or 3st 11 lbs.

My weekly losses in pounds have been:
Week 1 -9
Week 2 -2
Week 3 -7
Week 4 -3
Week 5 -6
Week 6 -4
Week 7 -1
Week 8 -4
Week 9 -3
Week 10 -4
Week 11 -3
Week 12 -5
Week 13 -2

I think I will try not to weigh each day for this next week, as an experiment. I weighed each day this week, and was consistently in the 114kg range right up until the "official" weigh-in this morning where lo and behold I was bang on 115kg! Really freaking annoying. Overall, I've had a busy and really rubbish week for various reasons, so I should take the 2 lbs loss as a win and not as a disappointment. My interim goal is 112kg which has seemed so near and yet so far for a while. Could be another 3 weeks away!! And then I still have another 45kg or so to lose. Argh.
