It's in the fridge and I'm going to take the plunge on Monday!
Feeling really nervous about it all. Anyone due to start next week too?

Yes, I agree with you - yesterday left home at 5am and got back at 8.30pm. The last 3 weeks made me realise I need to learn to cook some new dishes to feel more inspired for the long term - I would previously batch cook lasagne, tagine etc and eat during the week. I seem to be doing salmon & green veg or chicken & salad daily, it is getting really boring. Also starting to want chocolate again…. Have never done a delivery box so am wondering about trying them as they have low calorie options for a main meal… but I know it is expensive. What I need is a good low calorie cook book to try. Does anyone have a good one to recommend?

Two chubby cubs have got some great cook books with calories on every recipe
books can be found on Amazon

Some great ideas and sharing on here. My work is currently really busy. Working long days and hard work. It's nice to get a chance to read everyone's experiences.

@chachachooey Community nurse.... sorry you've had that traumatic experience and I'm glad remision has come along 🙂

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 11/08/2024 07:05

Five days stuck now.

This is ridiculous

ACEwards · 11/08/2024 07:12

@HeBeaverandSheBeaver Could you possibly give the scales a break for a few days as it seems weighing daily is getting you down?

I'm obsessed with the numbers and I've had to step away from the scales, only weighing once every 7-10 days as I can't take the daily disappointment x

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 11/08/2024 07:48

I just can't understand it.

I'm eating at a deficit everyday. I'd expect to lose even a few oz. But nothing.

After some Googling you get different answers

A reset
Set point issues
Water retention
Eat more
Change up
I dont know.

I'll keep going and hope it moves again. But yes weighing less may help.

Thank you.

ACEwards · 11/08/2024 08:18

I think our bodies are very clever, as initially the water weight drops but then I think it very quickly realises that these are all the calories it's gonna get so it holds onto them. I was once told we need to just ride through it and keep going to get the body used to its new normal. I was told to think of it like a moving ship... if you apply the brakes and put it into reverse, it takes time to slow before it can stop and go backwards, but it does happen. Just keep doing what you're doing as you're doing all the right things!

You need to try and keep reminding yourself that you are doing all the right things and we need to sometimes be patient - although patience is my downfall which is why I've yo-yo'd all my life and ended up here 🥴

Well that's what I'm telling myself... oh and hiding the scales 😂😂 xx

ACEwards · 11/08/2024 08:20

Also, very cliche but remember your 100% is completely different to someone else's 100%

It's amazing seeing everyone lose so much so quickly, but we're all on our own journey with our own unique genetic make up. I have no doubt you'll do amazingly well ☺️

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 11/08/2024 08:23

@ACEwards
That's a great way of looking at it Xx

Wishthiswasntmypost · 11/08/2024 11:34

You are so close to your goal now @hebeaverandshebeaver What is your BMI now? I too have struggled with scales going up and down and my starving appearing to make little difference but wise ones on here have pointed out it's water retention and to look at a longer trend. I suspect you'll be struggling more as you are no longer in the obese category(I think??)

I'm still checking daily because it motivates me and keeps me on track to drink more fluid which I think helps. The dehydrated days are what makes me then have an inexplicable increase.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 11/08/2024 12:42

Bmi is 26.8 now so I think that's why as well. But I don't want to accept that as otherwise I might slip back up fairly quickly. I want to get into healthy range.

MzHz · 11/08/2024 13:45

I’ve gone to 5mg dose a day earlier than usual, I’m trying to avoid the dodgy day after the jab falling on my office day. Even if it makes me feel tired this evening, that’s ok cos atm no swim training as it’s the summer break.

ive not done the bonus dose, it’d throw things out for future work travel and the schedule will be hard enough 😂

so far all so good.
MJ week 5
starting weight was 101 kg
current weight is 95 kg

realised that my target weight of 75 kg still puts me in the overweight category so will probably have to aim for something like 65 kg, but will cross that bridge further down the line

ACEwards · 11/08/2024 14:09

I need a rant... I think BMI is such an unfair outdated way to measure weight. I know doctors etc use it as a guide mostly, but if you're short like me, a healthy BMI range just seems like such a stretch!

According to the NHS website "The best weight for your height is between 7 stone and 9 stone 6 pounds". If I want to comfortably be in the healthy range so I have a buffer, I'd need to get to below 9 stone 😳 That's insane! Last time I was that weight I was about 12 yrs old 😂

Ohh let us know how you get on with 5mg!!

SJLOUNJARO · 11/08/2024 16:14

Anyone know how to do the "hard twist" for remainder of pen please??

ChaChaChooey · 11/08/2024 16:55

SJLOUNJARO · 11/08/2024 16:14

Anyone know how to do the "hard twist" for remainder of pen please??

I can’t really explain it - I just kinda forced it? And just as I thought I’d probably broken it, it clicked and then worked as before!

SJLOUNJARO · 11/08/2024 18:03

@ChaChaChooey ok thanks I'll give it a bash didn't want to force incase I broke it!

DamnItBetsy · 11/08/2024 20:17

SJLOUNJARO · 11/08/2024 16:14

Anyone know how to do the "hard twist" for remainder of pen please??

I did the usual 2.5mg, injected that, then retwisted and injected again. (Best to use a new needle!). It clicked 15 times which is an additional 0.65mg according to the click charts.

SJLOUNJARO · 11/08/2024 21:25

@DamnItBetsy thanks! I've just done it no idea how much? I just twisted and kept going until it was finished 😬 here's hoping it wasn't more than usual I can barely manage the tiredness with the 2.5!

SallySunrise · 12/08/2024 07:30

Good morning!

Cracked and weighed myself a day early, I've lost 4lbs!

SW: 14st 2lbs
Wk 1: -2lbs
Wk 2: stayed the same
Wk 3: -2lbs
Wk 4: -4lbs
CW: 13st 8lbs!!

Probably going to do my next jab tonight, rather than tomorrow night as I've got a driving lesson on Wednesday. That would not be a good time for side effects!

Wishthiswasntmypost · 12/08/2024 07:37

I did that @sjlounjaro last week and can't have been much in there, because I've certainly not noticed it. 5mg starting today. Am not looking forward to the exhaustion.

@hebeaverandshebeaver I hear your need for a buffer but suspect you're so close your body is telling you this BMI is ok

@ACEwards BMI is ridiculous. My lower limit would mean I was skeletal. 58kg... I honestly think it would be unhealthy.

Sw 105
Week 1 101kg (-4)
Week 2 100.4kg (-0.6kg)
Week 3 96.5 (-0.9kg)
Week 4 95.9kg (-0.6kg)
TW 85kg

I'm very happy to be loosing. It's certainly not easy and I've actively dieted throughout. No alcohol at all, limited bread, often skipping lunch and being under 1000 cals. Last night we ate out and I chose my meal because of the least calories not because I wanted and drank water. I feel that the main thing MJ is doing is enabling weight loss because if I'd eaten like this before I'd have lost weight but not week on week. It would plateau and I'd be very demoralised.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 12/08/2024 07:38

@sallysunrise that's amazing

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 12/08/2024 08:25

@Wishthiswasntmypost

I suspect your right.

The other issue is I'm really constipated. Not been now for 5 days.

Taken a dulcolax 1 tab.
Nothing!!! and now some of my daughters
Old lacido 1/2 sachet.

Waiting !!!!

I'm hoping once I've started moving below I might see numbers move too.

I'm in no pain yet . It's just not doing a thing!!!

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 12/08/2024 08:29

My dd is bmi 16.9!!!!

She is nearly 19. And extremely slim. A size four.

She was born at percentile 9 so is naturally that way.

She eats a lot!!!

Tho she is slim she has a layer of fat You can't see her ribs hip bones etc.

I think the ranges are ok but they depend on the person as to where they carry weight etc.

Dd will carry weight on her hips and legs I'm guessing

I've always been an Apple

I think apples are more
Unhealthy

Bamboozled5 · 12/08/2024 08:59

Have lost 5kg overall going into week 4 😊! Very pleased with that although the side effects have been tough. Did an extra 0.5mg on my pen this morning approx by counting clicks. So am planning on gradually going up to 5mg. Will the pen allow that though or is it set for 4 doses? My 2.5 mg pen only allowed me to click on a short way (12 clicks) after my 4th dose.

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 12/08/2024 08:59

Great job on the losses team. I’ve not lost a bean in a week, and actually looked heavier on the scales this AM. It feels unfair given I’ve barely been able to eat as feel nauseous pretty much consistently… I’m hoping for a big drop in the next week or so.

Quick Q though, I’m a regular gym goer.. three times a week CrossFit for years but I’m finding since starting mounjaro my heart rate is up a lot easier… maybe +10.. reaching 170+ when I’m pushing it. I see it’s a known side effect but it is making me nervous. Anyone else getting similar?
