It's in the fridge and I'm going to take the plunge on Monday!
Feeling really nervous about it all. Anyone due to start next week too?

On a completely different note, this week I started doing the free online course from Action for Happiness. I felt my mood was a bit low, and is definitely given me a boost. Only a few minutes per day and nice & uplifting if you fancy it.

Thanks for this. I have felt very low some days. I read this was a side effect of MJ and for me it really has been. Albeit I am very much an emotional eater and I can't use food as a crutch when not hungry or taking the notions for chocolate or junk so I feel that has a lot to do with it too! I was due to weigh today however not been able to go to the loo in days so feel this would be a maintain or gain so going to hold off until tomorrow and hope for the best.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/08/2024 08:23

Agghhhhh getting so frustrated

Scales stick for another 3 days.

I do go out last night and calories were hard to track so was over my limit but only by 300 ish

Scales being so stubborn. Please don't let me quit.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 10/08/2024 08:34

Well I had a great night out last night. Didn't go mad food wise and no alcohol. I had a latte and a small piece of flapjack for pudding after a veggie chilli. All I'd eaten all day was a 2 spoons of protein yoghurt with blueberres and a banana. I've put on 2kg overnight... I really don't understand how easy it is to put weight on and yet days of minimal food needed to achieve same amount.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 10/08/2024 08:35

Hopefully this is just a blip and tomorrow the scales will have remembered my hard word

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/08/2024 08:38

I Know right @Wishthiswasntmypost

I expect it's water though.

ACEwards · 10/08/2024 08:39

2kg over night is probably salt added into the chilli maybe? Deffo not food weight x

ToriMJ · 10/08/2024 08:47

@HeBeaverandSheBeaver @Ilovethewild also finding the forth week weight loss is much slower, interesting how we are all finding that. Hopefully next week will be better. I'm staying in 2.5 as I think 5 will be overkill for me at this point. Some days I'm still struggling to get to 800 calories so def need to take it easy.

OP posts:
ToriMJ · 10/08/2024 08:56

It takes +3,500 calories to gain a pound and -3,500 to lose a pound apparently so you've def not gained kilos over night. It's so hard not to get disheartened when looking at the scales. I wish I was one of those people who could just weight once a week Halo

I started this yesterday
already I am not feeling as hungry
felt slight nauseous on and off
had crazy nightmares last night which was really odd
I have just over 2 stone to lose

d you get it from online?
I take it, it’s easy to get online as you’ve only got a minimal amount of weight to lose?
A work colleague wasn’t accepted by her doctor and she’s got more weight than you to lose x

ToriMJ · 10/08/2024 08:57

Only list a quarter of a pound in last few days but it did get me down to the next stone bracket. Not seen 12- something in a while!

OP posts:
Jfw82 · 10/08/2024 09:04

I had a few days if no movement on scales then 2lbs overnight and then another lb today (final pre holiday weigh in!) and that lb takes me to 99.8kg so less than 100kg which was my first mini goal!

Ilovethewild · 10/08/2024 09:11

@ToriMJ any loss is going in the right direction 😁

I weigh once a week, it’s always a worry for me.
i find it so hard to eat enough, feeling full all the time. Amazed that i haven’t wanted or eaten chocolate, sweets, puddings.

I wasn’t sure about moving to 5mg but hoping it will push the weight loss as I have a lot to lose.

i love the lack of food noise 🥰, this is how many people are normally

ToriMJ · 10/08/2024 11:13

Yes, I'm trying not to be bothered about this weeks lack of movement as I've lost a stone in 3 1/2 weeks which is insane.

I've bought the happyscale app £11/year if anyone hasn't seen it it's really good for tracking progress, setting mini goals, and shows projected weight loss at the rate you are currently losing or at a set lb/week of your choosing.

OP posts:
SJLOUNJARO · 10/08/2024 11:36

I am another 1lb down so that will be 9lbs in 4 weeks all in. I've lost more in same amount of time previously on other diets probably but it's never been as easy as this the food noise reduction really makes a difference. I am going to try and get what's left of the pen out tomorrow then order another 2.5 I don't want to risk the 5 for the side effects I already struggle on day 2 and I'm happy to lose at this rate as long as it's shifting. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/08/2024 11:39

I'm due to take my first jab of 5 today. Have a few errands to run first and then I'll take it when I'm home later in case the side effects make me feel rough. Best get my jobs out of the way first just in case!

I've lost 4kg over the 4 weeks I've been on 2.5. There was some appetite suppression but not a huge amount so I'm hoping 5 will make a difference.

I've lost a lot of weight in the past the hard way - by doing a LOT of exercise and eating clean but unfortunately I now have long Covid so haven't been able to exercise and turned to comfort eating and all the weight has piled back on. So I know I can be disciplined with my food when I need to and it may well be that rather than MJ which is responsible for my 4kg loss.

My weight hasn't really moved in the last 1.5 weeks. So for others who have also reached a plateau, hang in there! Don't self-sabotage now! Your weight will drop again but your body is used to fewer calories now so you may need to switch things up to trigger another loss. Just don't start eating more because you're feeling demoralised!!

Edited

I got it from Zava with a BMI of 30.1 so just on the borderline of overweight/obese. I had 2st 2 to lose to get back to the top end of the healthy zone (BMI 25) but am hoping to get to more towards the middle (BMI 23/24) to give myself some wiggle room while working on maintaining.

I had to take a photo of my feet on the scale and a photo of me in the mirror, side on, in both pics I needed to show the same handwritten date on paper

I was told by the Zava dr that I was right on the line of being refused (I don’t have any diagnosed conditions and the only medication I take regularly is HRT for peri meno) but they accepted me because I filled out the weight related problems box saying how the extra weight affected my self esteem and I was finding It hard to get back to my previous levels of exercise due to joint pain (especially my knees, I used to be a dance teacher for adult beginners but didn’t feel able to go back to it post covid)

I suppose they want to avoid the borderline weight customers/patients who don’t have an additional condition or health related rationale for wanting it?

I expect your work friend also has solid reasons for wanting rid of her extra 2 stones, even if, like me, she doesn’t have any relevant diagnosed conditions on her record (I’m generally the sort of person who needs to have gangrene before seeing a HCP, I only ever see anyone for lady-health stuff like contraception and smear tests. That will probably change now I’m almost 50, of course)!

I’m already half way back from borderline obese to healthy, and both my joints and self esteem have improved significantly.

I’m probably locked into Zava for all future prescriptions (I have my second pen but haven’t started it yet) due to my current weight but that’s not a terrible problem to have - they are reasonably priced, allow for two years worth of maintenance pens and I hopefully won’t need the higher dose/more expensive pens at all.

I expect to have to provide new photos whenever Zava request it, but they didn’t ask for more when I ordered the second one.

They generate a letter you can print out for your doctor and have added to your medical records and both my pens have come with more screw on needles than doses (4 doses per pen, 7 needles per order) which made me much less worried about making errors/messing up (and means I could use the extra ‘bonus dose’ at different time to my 4th scheduled injection).

some people have complained about Zava pens arriving warm but both of mine have been fine and the second one arrived in a different type of cold packaging so I think they are listening to feedback on that problem.

please pass my post onto your friend, I hope she finds it helpful (I can give her a Zava code so the first pen is £120ish, which would give me money off my 3rd one but MN won’t allow it on this thread because people complain about seeing it all the time which is fair enough. Obvs if you use Zava too give your friend your own code 😂but if not you can PM me)

I’m seriously thinking about getting it for myself, I don’t want to go through my doctors due to confidentiality of a couple of receptionist!
My BMI is over 40, my concern was how easy it is to get it online due to my friend not being able to get it and not going through my doctors
Om really not sure if I will be able to afford it, it’s so expensive

ChaChaChooey · 10/08/2024 13:09

A lot of us have found our food and booze costs have fallen which offsets the cost a bit.

I’ve not ordered a takeaway since I started!

SallySunrise · 10/08/2024 13:21

My 5mg pen just arrived from Zava. Cheaper and quicker than Medexpress. It also came with 7 needles rather than 4, those will come in handy for bonus doses! No alcohol wipes though, so I'll need to pick some up.

I’ve had 2 orders from Zava and both came with 7 needles (I did wonder if the first 7 was an error!)

ToriMJ · 10/08/2024 16:42

That's a bonus to have spares for the bonus dose.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/08/2024 17:43

I got mine from Asda pharmacies and had no issues being accepted even tho I was borderline bmi

I listed raised blood pressure
Back pain. And knee pain

And raised cholesterol. All of which are
True.

Got my second pen ok too.

I hope I won't need a third one as will use my spare doses but as I'm now loosing more slowly you never now

They send regular emails out.

They are not the cheapest out there but I wanted a name I'd heard of and I can do click and collect too if I want.

ChaChaChooey · 10/08/2024 17:45

ToriMJ · 10/08/2024 16:42

Yes! It enabled me to do a bonus dose a few days after my last official 2.5 so it’s more of a gradual build up towards my first 5.

It also takes away the fear of error, because if you mess up (say, drop the pen after you’ve screwed on and uncapped the needle or put the needle in your skin and then realise you haven’t clicked the pen out correctly) you can change for a new needle and start afresh

Unlike other companies Zava do not include alcohol wipes but these are a cheap purchase online (just don’t buy bulk because they do have expiry dates).

We actually have an absolute glut of alcohol wipes in the house because my youngest DD had a Hickman Line and we stored the supplies to clean it at home for the district* nurse appointments.

DD is happily in remission now (NHS is at it’s absolute best for kiddie cancer care) but the NHS can’t take unused stuff back for hygiene reasons so I’ve been using them to do my gel nail polish 😆

*I’m pretty sure they have a different job title nowadays but I can’t remember what it is!
