Thanks for your perspectives @VelociraptorsVelociRapping and @RobinEllacotStrike - lots to think about. I might need to reflect on if I’m thinking of hanging back out of fear, or of progressing out of impatience.

Doobi · 12/09/2024 06:43

Morning,

I didn't weigh myself properly this morning, I usually do at a set regular time each day but I was up a lot earlier this morning for work.

I'll just count tomorrow's weigh in as my overall final for the week before my next Jan, tomorrow evening.

Me and my partner have decided to do intermittent fasting. I usually don't eat until later on in the day anyway and would rather stop eating after a certain time, so we already kind of do this.

The only difference is, I'm only drinking water/very diluted cordial in the morning until 11am-ish. It will be the same after 7pm.

I'm feeling a bit more optimistic. I'm going to get some insulin needles today and try the 'magic dose' tomorrow, if I have enough/worth doing so.

happygertie · 12/09/2024 07:42

My 3rd weigh in today and lost 2lb which I'm happy with.
I would love to lose 2lb every week going forward. I don't feel like I have restricted myself at all really. I don't have any appetite suppression really and still enjoy eating. The main things for me is I don't have food noise or cravings anymore and can just eat meals without thinking about food in between. I have been out for meal and drinks this week and had the odd treat so feel like I'm living my best life.

SW 23st 3lbs
CW 22st 6lbs
Total loss 11 lbs in 3 weeks on 2.5

NewoIkkin · 13/09/2024 09:38

Only 1.4lbs down this week which is a bit disappointing as I’ve been eating very well and staying active, so I was hoping for more. Still, a loss is a loss!

Biggest milestone this week was my BMI dropping just below 35, so now I’m only “obese” rather than “severely obese”. Hurrah! Hoping to get under 14st next week 🤞🏻

SilenceInside · 13/09/2024 10:42

@NewoIkkin a loss is always good and you might have a bit of a whoosh next week, fingers crossed for you.

@happygertie brilliant progress, and it is great to be able to go out and not worry about what to eat, to be able to trust the process and the effects that the injection has on appetite.

@Doobi hope the bonus dose is a decent amount and that it's easy for you to extract it. I used to be very needle-phobic but mostly got over it after my two pregnancies, but I have some issues still. I can cope with the pen and the tiny short needles mostly because it doesn't look like a typical syringe. I know I couldn't do the bonus dose with a proper syringe as it would definitely trigger the needle-phobia!

So, weigh-in day for me today, it's been 10 weeks on Mounjaro, seems like no time at all.

SW: 139kg (21st 12lbs)
CW: 119.6kg (18st 11lbs)
GW: 112kg (17st 9lbs)

That's a total of 19.4 kg down, or 43lbs, and a loss of 1.8kg/4lbs this week. Slightly annoyed as I had been showing about 0.5kg lower when weighing yesterday and the day before but I guess that's just daily fluctuations.

Still getting a little disheartened about how long I have to go. I know I'm making progress, much better progress than on any other weight loss method, it's just such a grind to know I'm still in the super obese category and will be in the obese category for months. Probably until spring next year. Got to keep on keeping on though, no other option.

Also, I'm cold all the time which is totally unlike me as I usually run hot. At least I'm not having any other side effects at the moment. I've just done a 6.25mg injection from my current 7.5mg pen, the third injection with that pen, having done 5mg for the previous two. I was a bit nervous of going up to the full 7.5mg but I've noticed the 5mg starting to be less effective so moved up to 6.25mg to see how I cope with that.

Doobi · 13/09/2024 10:44

Morning,

Bit of a disappointing weight in this week for me. Only 0.2kg/1/4 llb.

I thought it would be a bit more but I guess my body is evening itself out after previous weeks.

I seem to get stuck around 124kg mark, which is frustrating.

I'm due my last dose of 2.5mg tonight, which I wish was more as I'm not getting any suppression now. It feels a bit like a placebo.

Anyway, I'm off out for a catch up with a friend. The plan is homemade pizzas tonight for tea, I'll just have a smaller portion.

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/09/2024 11:33

Hey @Doobi - you're doing great!! remember this is a long haul for those of us with lots to lose.

gimmemounjaro · 13/09/2024 11:45

@Doobi same happened to me, weight loss tapered off over the four weeks on 2.5mg. I lost more on the first week of 5mg than I had in 4 weeks on 2.5mg 👍

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/09/2024 11:55

Weigh in day for me and I'm about to take my 3rd x 5mg shot - week 7

SW 123kg
SBMI 40.9
CW 113.6kg - thats apparently 3kg in a week!

CBMI 38 - I've moved from "extremely obese" to merely "obese"
Loss TD - 9.5 kg
GW 85kg (this would put me in middle of "overweight BMI" so maybe its an interim goal)
Still to lose to interin GW - 38.6 kg

I got a bit backed up this week. Maybe its the 5mg, or I haven't been eating kiwifruit every day. Previously I was eating 2 kiwifruit a day and stayed regular. I also started an iron supplement this week which could be the cause.
I'm now aiming to take some chia seed water and kiwifruit daily to stay on top of that as getting constipated isn't fun.

I've been to the gym 5 times this week and I'm really loving it.

What is incredible about MJ is its giving me so much freedom. Freedom from food noise, freedom from eating rubbish foods, freedom to choose the food I really do like to eat, freedom to simply go to the gym and exercise.

Its not just the food noise that goes away but my mind is calmer overall. I don't have the negative head noise talking me out of exercise, just have all the butter you want babe you deserve it, have another portion you can deal with it tomorrow etc. all that has gone!

I really like & enjoy all the foods I am choosing to eat now so its not like I'm being "punished" by being on a diet or having to eat foods I wouldn't normally choose. I am making good choices, eating smaller portions- overeating was always my downfall. Even when I was making super healthy food choices I would eat too much. And we all know you only need to overeat a little bit everyday to gain weight.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

WeAllHaveWings · 13/09/2024 12:31

It is weigh in and injection day for me tomorrow.

Weeks 8-11 I started getting a 5cm-ish reaction around my injection site each week. Weeks 8-10 it was insanely itchy, but on week 11 on the suggestion of my prescriber I tried a longer needle moving from 4mm to 6mm and while the reaction is still there it is thankfully not itchy this week. Last weeks reaction is still red, and the previous weeks reaction is still visible but fading.

Because the 6mm needle appears to have helped, I was thinking about trying 8mm needles, but I am still a wimp and the length/thickness (moves from 32G to slightly thicker 31G for 8mms) gives me the wobbles a bit! I don't have a pen needle at 8mm but I do have a syringes I bought but haven't needed yet for 5th doses, I am nervous about using them too!

Has anyone else been having reactions at the inject site and managed to get them to stop? Does anyone use 8mm pen needles?

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/09/2024 12:48

I haven't had a reaction (yet - I'm on week 7) - though I have purchased some bigger needles for the "bonus dose" - but I won't take this for 2 weeks.

I've had a couple of bruises at the injection site but not normally. I always inject into different places in my belly so I don't know why I've got bruises sometimes but not others.

Darlinghag · 13/09/2024 13:49

I’ve met my first milestone - and its not one I think anyone else will think is great but means a lot to me.

at my heaviest i was 21st, lost the first stone without a real plan, then started calorie deficit way back in Jan 2022. I lost almost 2 stone and then kept gaining and losing the same stone - never once getting under 18st.

i am coming to the end of week four of MJ and I weigh 17st 13.8 today!!!

So, on MJ I think I have lost around 6lbs.

i accept i am a part of the slow losers club and I am ok with that. I am in a deficit and eating well and hopefully my slow loss will benefit me in keeping it off and retaining some skin elasticity.

for my 4th jab, i impulsively decided to use part of the ‘bonus dose’ to take it to 3.75mg. I had little to no supression on 2.5 and very little side effects. It took 72 hours to feel supression this week, but its been consistent for the last two days. Its been good - enough that i still feel hunger and want to eat but not as frequent and i definitely feel fuller quicker!

i start 5mg this week. I’m hopeful that I will feel benefits of it more on this dose!

also, as someone with no gallbladder, i was terrified of having more issues rather than the constipation, but this has made me ‘normal’!! I think even without the weightloss element this jab is worth it to not panic anytime i eat outside of home! I went away with work yesterday and i got to eat lunch without lopermide and praying to be ok!!

gimmemounjaro · 13/09/2024 14:02

First 7.5mg injection today and weigh in tomorrow for me, after 8 weeks on MJ. Probably gone up a bit since last week as both pens so far have become less effective as the weeks go past. Plus I have spent all week away working long and stressful days, staying in a hotel and living off pret and Deliveroo with no opportunity for exercise.

Hoping for the gain not to be too drastic 🤞

I am wondering about whether taking some of the bonus dose with the last 2.5mg tonight. I've had no side effects so far and might be interim before 5mg next week.

I'm unsure of what amount = what dose.

BingoWingsOverScotland · 13/09/2024 15:24

2.5mg is 60 clicks, so 1.25mg (a half-dose) is 30 clicks. 10 clicks is just fractionally over 0.4mg.

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/09/2024 16:46

@Darlinghag well done for smashing through that 18st barrier! I get how that would be psychologically important. Have a great week - the only way is down even if its slow!

Darlinghag · 13/09/2024 18:27

@Doobi yes counting the clicks as Bingo said is what i did, it did get tricky as i had to force the pen to turn so my count may have been off a couple either side but i didnt really sweat it - half the liquid that been remaining was in the pen when i was done, and i wont be taking that dose next time, it was solely to bridge the jump between 2.5 and 5

@RobinEllacotStrike thanks!! Yes for sure. I have this weird need to not have people notice too much - i know when i really lose a lot, it will show, but i dont want people to see a stark difference between meet ups - if that makes sense? I dont know why, i think maybe i dont want people’s expectation if i dont succeed??

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/09/2024 21:42

It's always been a problem for me in the past when people start noticing I'm losing weight. These comments are usually just before I stop losing weight.

I remember about 20 years ago losing weight& practicing ashtanga yoga 5 mornings a week. One morning after several months the teacher commented how amazing it was to see my body changing & getting so strong. I stopped going. I still can't really explain why.

I'm not particularly shy & retiring. I guess when you are constantly judged on your body, even positive support comments from friends can be uncomfortable.

I could happily live in my body as it is - I'm happy with it. Apart from all the health issues of course and I know I feel better and am happier & stronger when I weigh less.

I really need to watch out for this kind of switch off reaction and be sure I'm able to properly think things through rather than let it be a trigger to stop doing what I'm doing. I'd happily not have anyone notice or comment -I'd like to be just left to it. But gats not the world I live in do I need to get a grip 😬😁

CrazyKats · 14/09/2024 09:49

OMG. I've had a whoosh down to 95.95kg. Bloody hell. That's almost my first big target. Also you ladies are amazing, constant source of inspiration. Noone has said anything about my weight loss yet 🤔 I notice now I look remarkably smaller though. Planning on wearing a SKIRT out to a birthday party on Sunday.

gimmemounjaro · 14/09/2024 10:39

Same for me @RobinEllacotStrike
I do much better quietly and under the radar than when people mention it and ask about how I'm doing it etc. I have never subscribed to that common advice of telling people what you're doing, for accountability. I think the extra pressure of other people's expectations scares me straight to the fridge 😬

Weigh day for me today, after 8 injections over 9 weeks -

SW: 241.2 lbs / BMI 35.6
CW: 223.3 lbs / BMI 33

  • 17.9 lbs in total

Sneaked into 15 stone something when I started at 17 stone something 💪

I lost 4.4 lbs on 2.5mg
And 13.5 lbs on 5mg

Took my first 7.5mg yesterday so looking forward to seeing how I do this week. No unpleasant side effects so far 🤞

KeepingUndercover · 14/09/2024 10:48

I've not been posting much but I have been reading. The chat about people noticing is really interesting. I am now 30kg down and nobody really started commenting until I'd already lost about 25kg. And now they seem to notice a lot. I do find it quite awkward as I don't really want to talk about it. But I also was a bit pissed off when nobody was noticing!

I find it hard though as I've lost weight before and then put it back on, haven't we all? And while I'm hopeful things can be different now, I just don't want so much focus on it in case it doesn't last. I keep deflecting comments by saying it's the maintaining that's really difficult.

This week I hit my milestone of getting under 90kg. I'm now aiming for under 80kg.

I feel exactly the same as you, and I'm unsure how to handle it. In particular my mother...who in all honesty I blame for many of my eating issues (but that's another story).

I've never told her I was on a diet but she has noticed I've lost weight and now keeps asking me all the time about how much weight I've lost this week etc. I don't know how to reply but I REALLY don't want to talk to her about it so keep deflecting. Not sure if I should just say please stop asking?! I don't need her expectations weighing on me as well.

Eminybob · 14/09/2024 11:29

I don't mind people noticing and complimenting but then what annoys me is they always feel they have to ask HOW. This us the bit I'm uncomfortable with, even before I was using MJ as certain people (I'm looking at you annoying blond from my work) feel the need to pass judgment, or give advice, or critisise.

I don't have to worry too much at work though, I work on a team of all men and I swear I could walk in with a pink mohawk one Monday morning and they wouldn't notice.

upanddownandupanddown · 14/09/2024 13:18

Couple of victories here today.

First - lost just over 10% of my starting weight.

2nd; fit into the next size down jeans!

SW 117kg
CW 105.1kg
Lost 11.9kg on MJ

Whoop!

EliLilly · 14/09/2024 13:47

Week 13 results - thankfully lost a decent amount of weight in the last two weeks after my month of not much. Period appeared after just 17 days last night though (usually regular 26 days). Might be MJ might be perimenopause (I'm 51). Sub 100 kg now!
