@NewbieMJ that's a great start, hope everything continues well for you.

@RobinEllacotStrike I know exactly what you mean, and it's such a positive change to feel energised and able to continue, rather than ground down and stressed which is how I normally feel on an unsupported calorie-controlled diet.

I have a habit of weighing daily, but only recording my weekly weigh-in on Friday morning as my "official" weight for that week... but I am very happy this morning, as I was bang on 120kg, 120.0kg to be exact. That's a 20kg loss since I started, which was a week before I started taking Mounjaro and just over 9 weeks on MJ now. It also puts me in a new stone bracket, at 18st 12.6lbs, which is great as I haven't seen 18st anything for a long while! I really hope that the scales still say 120kg (or less) on Friday.

NewbieMJ · 09/09/2024 10:07

@SilenceInside - wow, 20kg weight loss in 10 weeks is brilliant.

I am also weighing daily (having read Michael Moseley a while back encouraging you to weigh daily if it works for you as it can be a real motivator for some), but officially record weekly. Not for everyone I know, but works for me to keep me motivated.

Report back on Friday. You will definitely be 120kg or less. Fantastico.

LastTimeLosingIt · 09/09/2024 10:25

Weigh in day.
End of week 5 ( 5 x 2.5mg).

SW 26 June: 20st 12.5lbs BMI 41.9 (low carbing, no MJ)

SW on MJ: 19st 12.5lbs BMI 39.9
CW: 18st 8lbs. BMI 37.2
Losses: 4, 3.5, 1.5, 5, 3.5
Total MJ loss: 18.5lbs.

Plus an additional 14 lbs before MJ. So down 11% on overall start weight.

Bought new gym top and leggings as a two stone reward.

I got hungry for the first time and food noise came back on day four this week, so will be going up to 3.75mg today.

ClonedSquare · 09/09/2024 10:28

I'm the same with regards to weighing daily but recording weekly. I find that weighing daily means I see the fluctuations and am more comfortable with them. It also makes it less gutting if on the official weighing day the result is higher than it has been during the week. I also notice some patterns in the fluctuations so can see if certain foods makes me more bloated or help the loss.

Down 3lbs this week, even though I feel like the 7.5mg hasn’t been working for me this week and I’ve definitely snacked a LOT. Thinking to move up to 10mg next week but stuck with 7.5mg yesterday so will see how this week goes.

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/09/2024 18:13

My weight can fluctuate by up to 2 kilos from one day to the next. I think weighing daily wouldn't be good for me.

My scales are pretty dodgy too - now I am back at the gym regularly <twirls> I am going to start using their fancy scales once a week. I got them to match up with a reading with my scales over the weekend, so I'm going to use them.

I've been using the gym I've been paying for and using very sporadically for yoga & swims. I never "had enough time" to workout but now I've decided to book classes instead of hoping a good workout with weights is going to fall from the sky. I've been doing a mixture of strength/circuit and cardio/dance style classes. Once my fitness increases I might give the weights room another go. (I had a nasty accident on a treadmill a few years ago so I won't be using one again.)

Eminybob · 10/09/2024 07:08

Goal weight number 1 achieved!

Just got under 12st which has alluded me for years.
It's crazy, I remember going on a diet when I was this weight pre kids thinking I was massive, but now I feel positively skinny!

Still 2 stone to go to be comfortably in the healthy bmi range though. I'm taking baby steps though. Next goal weight is 11st.

3st 11lb lost altogether so far since end of April. I have never lost this amount of weight in one go before, and I still have the motivation to keep going which is unheard of for me.

Well done to everyone on this journey too. You are all doing amazingly 👏

ClonedSquare · 10/09/2024 09:46

Well done @Eminybob ! Can definitely relate to thinking I was enormous before at weights I'd kill for now!

For some reason, I've suddenly started getting sulphur burps today. I've been on this dose (7.5) for eight weeks now and not eating any different foods so no idea why it's suddenly started today!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 11/09/2024 08:37

Good morning losers! Grin I've been quiet but I love reading about everyone's progress.

At this morning's weigh-in I not only hit a new stone bracket (which is always very satisfying) but a total of 5 stone lost from my heaviest in February 2023, 4st 7lb of which I have lost on MJ since late April this year. I really related to your comment @RobinEllacotStrike about sailing past all the points where I would previously have taken a break, or given up. This is truly life-changing.

Some recent NSVs - I'm wearing trousers to work for the first time in about ten years. When I was bigger my apron belly looked dreadful in smart trousers, although I kidded myself that denim held me in a bit and continued wearing jeans. My apron hasn't completely gone and I suspect I will always have a small C-section overhang but it has shrunk dramatically and I have worn chinos and some lovely wide-leg ponte trousers to work this week. A slightly irritating NSV is that I initially ordered the trousers in far too big a size - I got a 22 and a 20 to be on the safe side, but ended up needing the 18 and need to return the others!

Congratulations @VelociraptorsVelociRapping - what a milestone! I am in such early days it’s hard to picture myself chalking up those big goals, so it’s great to see the successes of all of you who’ve already gone through this.

I’m trying to figure out whether I should start titrating my dosage. I had my third shot last Friday, and I went from really strong suppression in the first week to very little now. I’m doing an ‘official’ weekly weigh in but also weighing daily, and after a cumulative loss of 2.8kg (just over 6 pounds) in the first fortnight it looks like I’m somehow 1kg up again, midway through this week. I have been eating high protein, drinking water, staying in a deficit. This has happened to me before, that initial weight loss stalls and reverses in apparent defiance of physics. But I am trying to be patient and just keep going without judging myself and my body’s response, and to accept it may be very non-linear. Any other month I’d be really happy to lose 1.8kg!

I like that I’ve had no side effects and I can bear a slowish pace if it means avoiding them. Did anyone else hang back on 2.5mg with fairly modest losses?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 11/09/2024 09:52

Thank you @KayeEyeEssEss.

Is there a particular reason that you want to stay on 2.5mg? Remember it’s not a therapeutic dose. If you have very little suppression then moving on to 5mg would seem logical.

Doobi · 11/09/2024 10:06

Morning,

I've been following this thread for a few days and might jump onboard with you all!

I have a lot of weight to lose. My HW last year was 136.6kg.

My weight when I started Mounjaro on 23rd August was 129.9kg.

I'm standing at 124kg as of today so, so far in these past few weeks I've dropped 5.9kg.

I say that's a win!

I have set my self several goals, most of them mini ones that enable me to see things in bigger picture and I will reward myself when I meet these.

I'd like to buy a Chanel perfume 😁.

For every 7lb I lose, I'm putting double the amount of that away (£14) in a separate saving pot.

When looking at the one I'd like, it would mean losing around 22kg/50lb and take me 7x 7lb to lose this!

That would take me to around 107kg roughly.

My main first bigger GW is 105kg by February next year. I think this is more then doable, with the weight that I am.

I take my 4th dose of 2.5mg on Friday, then I'm moving up to 5mg (unless I use the '5th dose').

I've not had too much suppression on 2.5mg but I understand this is a therapeutic dose.

Although my diet is still not perfect, I am eating less.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/09/2024 10:06

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping smashing so many milestones there! That's 32kgs (I have to convert to get an idea) which is incredible.

Annoying NSV are still NSV so bring them on!! Congratulations on your time and efforts paying off so beautifully & welcome back to the world of bipedal clothing!

My size 20 jeans are starting to feel a little baggy - and I've gone in a notch on my belt.

I have learnt that the Greek STYLE yoghurt is much lower in protein than actual Greek yoghurt. So I will be swapping my Lidl fav for the more expensive actual Greek yoghurt - I eat it daily and I do struggle to get anywhere near the recommended protein amount (though I eat protein at every meal).

I have ordered a collagen supplement which is arriving today. I'm hoping taking that along with some skin brushing & the upcoming winter of cold sea swimming will help reduce baggy skin - at age 56 I need all the help I can get!

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/09/2024 10:12

welcome @doobie (are you a kiwi perchance?)

Re rewards I haven't given that much thought. But there is a place near me that does those seated massages for £1 per minute. I like your idea of allocating £1 per pound (or for me more helpfully £2 per kilo) and spend it on shoulder/back massages.

I'm putting any extra cash I can find into my clothing budget so when the time comes I have ££ ready to spend on new clothes. I'm not there yet.

SilverSprings510 · 11/09/2024 11:12

Last 2.5mg dose for me before moving up to 5mg
Week 1: -7lbs
Week 2: -5lbs
Week 3: -3lbs
Total: 1st 1lb ✨

Oh my goodness, no I am not. I have never heard of the term before, I thought of it randomly when name changing. Now I've googled it, it's slang for a joint 😝 😳

Thanks for your response @VelociraptorsVelociRapping - I see value in a slow but steady loss in terms of my skin elasticity and in hopes of avoiding any yo-yoing - I don’t know if it’s at all scientific but I feel like around 500g / a pound per week would help my body adjust to a new lower ‘set point’ - I’m also a little scared of how complete the suppression was in my first week. It might be hard to make sure I get the nutrients my body needs with so little food. But on the other hand I’m impatient to see those numbers go down. Maybe I just need to suck it up and strap in for the ride.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/09/2024 11:42

@Doobi to be fair I've not heard anyone call a joint a doobi outside of NZ. 😁🥕

@KayeEyeEssEss as I'm eating so little it has become very clear to me just how much I want to prioritise nutrition as well as taste. This is stating the obvious, but gets lost in all the food noise if you have it. What I have found with MJ is without the food noise and food drama, and being conscious of the appretite suppression, I am calmly able to make sensible decisions re eating nutritious food. As long as I have it in the house I can prepare great meals. As I know I am not eating much I want to make sure I get as much nutritious food as possible into my day. I want every choice to count.

as an example, I am (was?) a butter fiend. carbs were effectively just butter delivery mechanisims for me. Since starting MJ this is the first thought I have given butter in 7 weeks. I see it. Its still there in my kitchen, along with toast etc (I have kids). But beyond using some in my cooking of a meal, I just don't have any interest in it. Its not part of my healthy eating now. I would still use butter over margarine as a heath choice, but as a food its just not relevant now.

I've had 4 x 2.5mg and 3 x 5mg. I'm going to stick on 5mg for another pen as it seems to be working well with no side effects.

I understand the desire to keep a slow and steady loss with an eye on sustainability. I will only say that if you have very little suppression on week 3 of 2.5mg then this is likely to reduce further on a second pen as your body tolerates the medication. If you feel that you can maintain a 500 calorie deficit per day (as this will equate to a 0.5kg / 1lb loss) on your current suppression then stay on 2.5mg; if you think this will be a struggle then consider 5mg, remembering that if you wish you can count clicks to administer a 3.75mg dose.

@Doobi which Chanel are you saving up for? I think that's a brilliant idea!

0.9 kg up this week, but I think most of that is because I'm a bit constipated. Overall, still almost 6kg down as I head towards my first bonus dose, though, and I keep reminding myself that this is a marathon not a sprint...

WeAllHaveWings · 11/09/2024 12:14

@Doobi @RobinEllacotStrike I may be betraying a phase in my misspent youth here, but "doobie" is/was very common in Scotland (or at least it was 30 odd years ago, not sure about now!) 🙈😂

Well done on the continued loses @VelociraptorsVelociRapping

5st loss is such a great number and it is inspiring to hear others who started earlier than me (I started in late June) are still on the journey and having such great successes.

Hopefully 5st loss and moving into clothes sizes that begin with a 1 will be something I will be able to talk about in the months to come!

I think it's Chanel Bleu.. I had a random tester of it and thought it smelt nice and lasted a while.

Although I've also bought myself a new perfume today that was on offer too, a Clinique one. Not sure what it will smell like as just saw it on HotUKDeals but for £15 I can't complain.

I'll just wear it when at work or whatever, or maybe if I'm nipping out quick somewhere.

For a while I didn't bother with perfume but I seem to be collecting some now 😂.

Chicken curry for tea tonight.

We are trying to eat before 7-8pm so that we aren't going to bed on a full stomach and so we have a good gap between then and morning/breakfast.

BingoWingsOverScotland · 11/09/2024 17:28

Directcosmetics is a good site for perfume deals too. I just got a Jil Sander one for under £10, and it's a nice everyday one.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/09/2024 19:19

Beware - buying perfume is a very pleasant and addictive habit!

I love perfume
