welcome @NewbieMJ
One step at a time, and be patient! it works and it will happen.
I am usually very carb focused and have virtually no interest in them at all now.

NewbieMJ · 06/09/2024 12:50

@RobinEllacotStrike
Thank you!

That sounds so encouraging.

SilenceInside · 06/09/2024 13:33

I realise that I have posted here a bit but not posted any weigh ins. I have a lot to lose, I started at 21st 12lbs, at 5ft 5 and a bit made my BMI almost 50 which is what made me take the jump to try Mounjaro. That, plus being practically as wide around the middle as I was tall. And all the other health, mobility, self image issues of course.

I enjoy reading about how everyone else is getting on, and I find this thread particularly helpful as I do sometimes struggle to relate to people with "only" 2, 3 or even 4 stones to lose. When I started I had 11 stone 12 lbs to lose to get to my ultimate target weight of 10st 4. It's a huge amount that I used to feel very daunted by. Now, after 9 weeks I have lost almost 3 stone, and "only" have another 9 stone-ish to go!

SW: 139kg (21st 12lbs)
CW: 121.4kg (19st 1lbs)
GW: 112kg (17st 9lbs) - this is an interim goal, so I can have a shorter term "win".

BingoWingsOverScotland · 06/09/2024 13:41

Wow, that's brilliant, @SilenceInside ! I hope you're feeling better and more mobile with all that gone.

WeAllHaveWings · 06/09/2024 14:54

CatTraveler · 06/09/2024 08:00

Did my bonus/5th 5mg doze this morning using the insulin needles and it was fine, perhaps slight aware of the "prick" but wasnt as bad as I thought it might have been.

Exactly 1kg down this week.

SW - 134.7 kg (BMI 49.5)
CW - 124.0kg (BMI 45.11)
GW - 80kg (BMI 29.4)

Total loss 10.7kg (7.9% of SW)

I am away on holiday tomorrow morning for 4 days - I know that I wont be able to make great food choices on it and that I will be drinking to much beer, but it will be intresting to see if MJ makes any difference. I havent had anything to drink since I started and at the moment beer just isnt appealing. (well obviously it isnt appealing at this exact moment as its 8am but in general at the moment its not appealing 😂 ) My plan is to not overthink it, try and make the right choices and drink as much water as I can and know that anything showing on the scales when I am back will be lost again.

I have managed to do my 2 pen bonus doses with the hard twist method so far, but I have the syringes to hand if needed. I started on 6mm pen needles but 2nd pen came with 4mm which are much "nicer". Still not sure if I could cope with a 8mm syringe!

I read some people saying, but you don't need to stick it in all the way, just half. But that would mean looking at it going in and then seeing it in my skin 🙈 I am pretty sure I would faint!!!

Well done with the loses!

ClonedSquare · 06/09/2024 17:42

@SilenceInside I can relate to feeling a bit out of place when you have so much to lose. I started a stone higher than you and have lost about the same amount, but still have about 6.5 stone to reach my first goal, and 9 stone to be at a healthy BMI. It's a bit galling when people who started at the same time as me and have lost the same amount are now talking about maintenance doses, although obviously I'm pleased for them.

I'm aiming for BMI 30 which is around 13 stone, and it's quite depressing that for some people that is their starting weight.

BingoWingsOverScotland · 06/09/2024 20:34

@ClonedSquare I'm sorry that you feel like that. It must feel like a huge mountain to climb - but I think that most of us on this thread feel like that. I do sometimes have to remind myself that to someone used to being a normal size and weight, yes, that extra 20lb probably feels like a massive deal.

I do wonder if it might help to have some interim targets? Someone upthread outlined theirs - every BMI point down, every 5% of original body weight lost, every new smaller stone number? I did that with my chart after reading that and it's definitely helped me.

NewoIkkin · 06/09/2024 21:02

@BingoWingsOverScotland @ClonedSquare I have a list of so many milestones! I cross them off as I hit them which I find very motivating. I started with exactly 100lbs to lose.
Milestones include:

  • Every time I move down into a new stone bracket (e.g. under 15 stone)
  • Every time I move down into a new kg bracket (e.g. under 90kg)
  • Every 5lbs lost
  • Every 5kg lost
  • Every half stone lost
  • Every 5% of starting body weight lost
  • Every time I move down to a new BMI category
  • Every time I hit another 10% of the way to my goal
  • Every time I hit a 1/3 or 1/4 of my way to my goal
I don’t think I ever drop more than 3lbs without being able to cross off a milestone. Going back and looking at all the ones I’ve already hit is great, and really helps when weight loss is feeling slow. I also buy myself a little reward for each 10lbs lost.
ClonedSquare · 06/09/2024 21:08

@NewoIkkin and @BingoWingsOverScotland I do have interim goals, I'm not just aiming for the big target! I'm happy with how my loss is going, I was simply commiserating that being the one with longest/biggest journey ahead is hard when there are few others posting from a similar perspective.

NewoIkkin · 06/09/2024 21:17

@ClonedSquare I can empathise. I’ve lost just over two and a half stone which is great but I have at least another four or five to go, and I see a lot of people reaching their goal after a similar loss. It’s not easy.

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/09/2024 07:43

@NewoIkkin thanks for sharing those goals- I might use them.

To get to a "healthy" BMI I would need to lose 50kilos. That's a small female Olympic boxer. I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like.

Which means I haven't been in the heathy BMI bracket for around 40 years since I was a teenager.

Mini goals are the way to go. Personally I think a "healthy BMI" is unattainable for me so my GW is higher. If I ever get there I can take another view.

One step at a time.

gimmemounjaro · 07/09/2024 08:12

Weigh day for me after 8 weeks:

SW: 241 lbs / BMI 35.6

CW: 224 lbs / BMI 33.1

17 lbs down, 70 to go. Hopefully next week I might be 15 stone something.

In 4 weeks on 2.5mg I lost 4.4 lbs. Then in 4 weeks on 5mg I lost 12.8 lbs. So anyone on 2.5mg who is fed up, keep going.

Timetofindme · 07/09/2024 11:03

@NewoIkkin I really like those goals. Might pinch some of those! Got a sort of interim goal but it seems really far away so love having some smaller steps on the way to celebrate!

CrazyKats · 07/09/2024 11:25

@Timetofindme I have a mini goal of 95kg, I was hoping to hit this by mid-October but as I have no car currently it may happen far sooner 😱 (I suppose thats what walking five miles a day does) then 89 which would take me to the weight I was before my first child. 84 for skinniest after birth of first child. 77 to weight at 21/22 then apparently 69 for a healthy BMI although I find this very difficult to imagine....🤔

NewbieMJ · 07/09/2024 12:45

The mini goals are great, thanks.

I'd have to get down to 10 stone 9 to be (just) in the healthy weight category of BMI. I just can't see it.

Anyway, a gradual weight loss and meeting milestones is a sensible way to go about it, and will keep my motivation up when I am feeling overwhelmed of how much I have to lose.

BingoWingsOverScotland · 07/09/2024 13:26

I think it was your list I copied, @NewoIkkin ! I am finding it helpful, and planning to add a chart function to it so I can actually physically see a downward trend.

WeAllHaveWings · 07/09/2024 14:08

Happy Saturday all! This weeks numbers highlight is the scales are now showing 18 as the starting number which takes me below my first big target! 😁 I was weighing daily last week hoping to see the 18, but it teased me at 19 something all week!

End of week 11 (5 x 2.5mg, 6 x 3.75mg)
SW 21st 5lbs BMI 42.8
CW 18st 13lbs BMI 37.9
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2
Total loss - 34lbs, 11%

Since you are talking about charts I will unashamedly show mine! Love a graph! Next BIG target 17st by Christmas🎄 is looking more and more achievable as the weeks go by!

@WeAllHaveWings Your chart is a thing of beauty. I love it.

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 08/09/2024 12:07

Has anyone else suffered bad side effects going from 5mg to 7.5mg? I’ve had pretty much no side effects at all so far really but did my first 7.5mg jab on Wednesday and since Friday evening haven’t been able to be more than a few meters away from a toilet

Itisallgoingtobeok · 08/09/2024 12:14

@WeAllHaveWings - your graph is a beautiful thing! I also have a chart to keep me going!

LastTimeLosingIt · 08/09/2024 17:18

@WeAllHaveWings love the charts! What software do you use to make them please?

WeAllHaveWings · 08/09/2024 17:22

LastTimeLosingIt · 08/09/2024 17:18

@WeAllHaveWings love the charts! What software do you use to make them please?

They are just charts in excel.

LastTimeLosingIt · 08/09/2024 17:38

@WeAllHaveWings thank you. I have excel but anything behind basic graphs is beyond my experience. What columns etc do I need to make to make it produce your wonderful charts please?

RobinEllacotStrike · 08/09/2024 21:09

I've lost nearly 10 kilos. This is usually the point where I feel very pleased, and exhausted. And I "take a break" or stop for a bit, as I'm exhausted by the huge amount of effort & energy it's taken me to lose the kilos.

But this time I'm feeling good.
Energised not exhausted.

Ready to keep going.

NewbieMJ · 09/09/2024 09:39

I've lost 6 pounds in week 1. Delighted with that.

SW: 18 stone 11 (263 pounds)
CW: 18 stone 5 (257 pounds)

About to do my 2nd injection this morning.
No side effects so far. Felt hungry at times and ate decent sized potions (twice a day) so not sure if it is the MJ yet, or just me getting in the groove with healthy eating. Whatever it is, I'll take it!

One very happy loser :-)
