I hit three stone loss in total this week and I'm so pleased!

Unfortunately in my head I've been thinking "oh I've lost around 3 stone" for about a month, so reaching the actual goal feels a bit anticlimactic 😂 I've learned my lesson for next time- no "I've lost about..." until I actually hit the target!

Everyone deserves a climax @ClonedSquare

3 stone lost! WOW!

Doobi · 02/09/2024 17:51

Hello!

I have just started taking Mounjaro and took my second dose last Friday evening.

Height: 5ft 2
SW: 129.1kg
CW: 125.6kg

I have no definite goal weight, I'm going to take it as it comes to be honest.

I think if I set myself too big of a target weight, I will find it much harder to stay motivated- even with the small wins.

I'm going to do it in 5% increments instead. So the first two would be:-

  1. 5% = 122.6kg (6.5kg)
  2. 5% = 116.1kg (13kg)

That seems a lot more manageable and within reach for the next few months.

I'm still on the 2.5mg dose and to be honest I have not felt much appetite suppression, I am eating less and feel fuller quicker but maybe this is more mindful? As sometimes not long after my meal, I can feel hungry again.

I have tried to order a 5mg pen with a new provider. I have heard nothing back from them (ordered Saturday from IQDoctor).

When I checked my online account it states not approved- I don't know if this is because it has not been reviewed/approved yet or if they have rejected me for some reason.

I've had no contact from them regarding any of this so I have sent an email.

Hopefully I'll hear back soon.

ClonedSquare · 02/09/2024 20:22

@WeAllHaveWings 😂 I'll make sure I climax like that when the next three stone come off! Thank you for the support!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 02/09/2024 21:52

@Doobi I haven't used IQDoctor but that wording sounds like it just hasn't been checked yet. All orders have to be approved individually by a responsible dispensing pharmacist and if you submitted it on Saturday then today was only the first working day that they have had it. Hopefully it will be approved soon for you.

Weigh in day for me, End of week 4 (4 x 2.5mg).

SW 26 June: 20st 12.5lbs BMI 41.9 (low carbing, no MJ)

SW on MJ: 19st 12.5lbs BMI 39.9
CW: 18 11.6lbs BMI 37.7
Losses: 4, 4.5, 1.5, 5
Total MJ loss: 15lbs, 5%

Plus an additional 14 lbs before MJ.

Feeling DELIGHTED!

Total loss of low carb + MJ = 2 stone and 1lb. Muscle % going up thanks to weights work in the gym and cardio fitness improving…six weeks ago I could do ten minutes on the bike at the gym. Today I did an hour!

I am suddenly back into clothes I haven’t been able to wear for a few years, plus I have much less pain in my knees and hygiene is easier.

Constipation is still a side effect but other than that, I’ve felt well and suppression is still strong …lost 5lbs in the last week so have opted to stay on 2.5mg.

CrazyKats · 03/09/2024 10:35

Checking in with current weight loss. Been titrating up to 5mg by click counting. Got one more week of 50 clicks and 2 of 55 before I start 5mg.

SW at beginning of July 109.6kg
CW 98.6kg

Amazing to be in double figures. In clothes I couldn't wear previously.

NSV - some knickers I passed off as being too small now fit!

SilverSprings510 · 04/09/2024 07:46

Week 1: -7
Week 2: -5
Total: -12lb

Utterly delighted ✨🤩

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 04/09/2024 07:50

@happygertie sorry for the slow response! Am on holiday atm😁

I liked the two cod recipes 👍 Seem to have an insane fish craving 🤷‍♀️

happygertie · 05/09/2024 09:35

@IReallyNeedThisToWork thanks, I have cod for tonight.

My second with in day today and week 3 injection of 2.5

I lost 4lbs this week so now have a total loss of 9 lb in two weeks.

Hi all, got a question about moving from 2.5mg to 5mg

I am in week 3, taking my 4th dose of 2.5mg on Sunday. I am a little worried about jumping up to 5mg and the relevant side effects. I’m considering using part of my bonus dose (half of it!) with this 4th dose so that l’m doing a week of 3.75mg before starting 5mg.

is this too soon? Or should I consider taking a week of 3.75mg when moving to my 5mg pen?

i’ve been lucky with minimal side effects for the 2.5mg, just a little nausea and feeling cold. But I’ve also had little benefit in terms of weightloss - a small amount of supression in the first couple of days and thats it.

thank you!

I'm going full on for 5mg. If I feel crap I'll get the necessary things to sort it and do 3.75mg the next week

That's what I did and it was fine, I've just done it again on the 4th dose of 5mg ahead of going up to 7.5mg next week, although I couldn't force as many extra clicks out of the pen this time.

It wasn't particularly effective for me at 2.5mg, better at 5mg but still tends to a pattern of a promising first week and then less and less in weeks 2-4. So on 2.5mg I had -4.9, -1.3, +0.8, +1.0. And on 5mg I have had -6.6, -2.7, -1.2, -0.8.

Hoping 7.5mg is the one where things settle down a bit and it stays effective over a longer term🤞

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 05/09/2024 15:27

@Darlinghag i went straight to 5mg from 4 weeks of 2.5mg and had pretty much zero side effects from it, so I would say just go for it. You can always do less the following week if you feel like it was too much

Darlinghag · 05/09/2024 15:44

Thanks all.

I think I am just worrying unnecessarily! I have a work trip a few days after my scheduled first 5mg dose so worry about being ill!

I will probably take it as planned and dose down the following week if its too much.

I was just as nervous about my first pen and have found it manageable!

BingoWingsOverScotland · 05/09/2024 16:42

I'm planning to use my bonus dose as a bridge between 2.5 and 5, if I can extract it - I have bought some insulin syringes as recommended on MN.

Ggplot · 05/09/2024 22:18

hey, day 1 for me and also have 33 kg to lose and as someone who is short at 5'3 - you can really see it. Is there an optimal time to have the injection? I did after dinner as I thought I would then been sleeping for the next 7/8 hours for it to sink in. Hopefully, I will get similar results to you all but without the sulphur burps as they sound foul!🙂

Timetofindme · 05/09/2024 22:31

Week 1 done (2.5 dose) and I'm really surprised at how much I'm not interested in food. Ive been counting calories to try to make sure I'm getting enough in but all my cravings/ emotional eating have disappeared. I genuinely don't fancy chocolate/ sweets, and the thought of crisps made me feel quite sick! Wondering if this is how some (most?) people feel all the time- it's a bit of a relief actually to have all that noise quiet down!

5 lb down and injection 2 done last night. TMI but so far I've tended towards the 'many toilet' visits end of the spectrum which is unsurprising given that's my tendency anyway (cheers IBS!). Injection 2 seems to have had the opposite effect 😂

Eminybob · 06/09/2024 06:54

I was on holiday last week, didn't take my pen with me as I wanted to be a bit more relaxed with food.
We were all inclusive and although I didn't have big portions,I was eating a lot more carbs and cheese etc than I have been and drinking a lot of Cava and cocktails!
It was no surprise therefore when I came home that I had put on 5.5lb. However, that was Monday, and I have already lost it, and them some, 6.2lb in 4 days!

I guess it was just water mainly, but definitely gives hope that the odd break from dieting isn't the end of the world.

Although it makes me nervous about what will happen when I come off MJ. I'm stockpiling currently so I can titrate down when the time comes.

3st 8.6lb gone so far
2st 2.4lb to go

CatTraveler · 06/09/2024 08:00

Did my bonus/5th 5mg doze this morning using the insulin needles and it was fine, perhaps slight aware of the "prick" but wasnt as bad as I thought it might have been.

Exactly 1kg down this week.

SW - 134.7 kg (BMI 49.5)
CW - 124.0kg (BMI 45.11)
GW - 80kg (BMI 29.4)

Total loss 10.7kg (7.9% of SW)

I am away on holiday tomorrow morning for 4 days - I know that I wont be able to make great food choices on it and that I will be drinking to much beer, but it will be intresting to see if MJ makes any difference. I havent had anything to drink since I started and at the moment beer just isnt appealing. (well obviously it isnt appealing at this exact moment as its 8am but in general at the moment its not appealing 😂 ) My plan is to not overthink it, try and make the right choices and drink as much water as I can and know that anything showing on the scales when I am back will be lost again.

NewoIkkin · 06/09/2024 09:11

4.7lbs lost this week, although I think that’s mostly water weight coming off after my holiday! Milestones reached this week:

  • 2.5 stone lost
  • Under 200lbs
  • 15% starting body weight lost

I still can’t really see a difference in my figure.

oreo2024 · 06/09/2024 10:19

Hi everyone, lovely to see losses and successes!
A quick check in:
17 weeks on MJ, currently 7.5mg
SW 108.3kg
CW 93.6kg
GW - not sure, maybe 75kg

I can attest that this feels like a miracle. I am one of those who don't have full suppression and still uses "willpower" to stick to calorie deficit, but in the long term, I think it is okay - once I come off, at least I will still remember how hunger feels and will be able to handle it (hopefully).

Someone asked about their staple foods. Mine has been 1) eggs 2) cottage cheese mixed with flavoured protein powder 3) tinned mackerel with salad.
The things I still crave very much is my morning white coffee, and cocktails! I love a good cocktail! Unfortunately that has contributed to weight gain, so I must abstain.

RobinEllacotStrike · 06/09/2024 11:31

Change of injection day for me - I had 2 weeks holiday which saw me alter jab days and I was spacing it out a bit. So although I went up to 5mg, the stretching of the days saw the effects on appetite and food noise weaken. I won't do that again - its important to take weekly (as advised) if at all possible.

But I'm back on track now and still managed a loss:

Start date: July 23rd 2024
SW - 123kg
CW - 116.6kg 6/9/24
SBMI - 40.9
CBMI - 39
Loss TD - 6.4kg - that is just over a stone, in 6 weeks.
GW (provisional) - 85kg
Still to lose to get to GW - 33.6 kg

Keep on keeping on you wonderful losers 🥳

RobinEllacotStrike · 06/09/2024 11:40

my staple foods are:
Cottage cheeese with boiled eggs and chilli sauce
Greek yoghurt with kiwi, blueberries and almonds
Raw almonds
Homemade hummous with cucumber, sugar snap peas, carrot, radish, peppers etc
Greek salad - I can eat greek salad every day.
Chicken breast pounded thin, seasoning/spice added, cooked quickly in pan and sliced over salad.

I'm totally off processed carbs including bread - they hold no interest for me at all. I had some of DD's lasagna this week (first time she had made it and she was so proud I couldn't say no) and the pasta gave me a bit of indigestion.

I am struggling to get enough protein in and aim to include protein every time I eat.

I dusted off my gym membership and turned up for a circit weights class last night - first time and I loved it. I'm pretty useless left to my own devices in weights room etc, and am making an effort to try out a bunch of classes for a while. I can turn up and do what I'm told for an hour so it might be the best way to get regular exercise in and there is a big variety on offer to me so I'd be silly not to utilise that.

RamblingFar · 06/09/2024 11:49

Week 6 weigh in done now, 20lb lost in total.

Side effects still going down, though I have been hungry this week for the first time. I've been trying to track calories with MFP to check I'm eating enough. I've been over my suggested calories several days and lost over 3lbs, so I think the jury is still out on whether I'm eating enough. It's set itself at 1500 calories a day, plus whatever I do in exercise.

SW: 18st 7.75lb
Week 1: 8lb loss
Week 2: 1.25lb loss
Week 3: 5.25lb loss
Week 4: 1lb loss
Week 5: 1.25lb loss
Week 6: 3.25lb loss
Total loss: 1st 6lb
CW: 17st 1.75lb

NewbieMJ · 06/09/2024 12:26

Joining you all. Inspired by this thread, as it is daunting having so much to lose, and having support from others that know how it is. I have already picked up some great tips and advice, just by reading through.

First MJ (2.5) injection on Monday. So far so good. Zero side effects. Not had any cravings as such, but have felt hungry at times - early days though.

Doing it in conjunction with low carb and have inputted everything into Carb Manager and will log daily to keep me focussed. I feel so much better when I cut out simple carbs, so it is refreshing to read that lots of you are naturally cutting them out with no wish to eat them.

I have had a very stressful summer relying on convenience foods and ready meals and feel so yuk. I am desperate to get into the zone of cooking nutritiously nourishing meals and get all this weight off, at last.

I haven't told anyone in RL that I am taking MJ, but everyone knows I am trying to get off the sugar and into the zone with healthy eating.

5 foot 5
53
SW:18 stone 11
GW: 11 stone something

Seems almost impossible just writing that down, but here we are. Onwards and upwards :-)
