Thanks @VelociraptorsVelociRapping and @ClonedSquare

I have a week and a half left on 5mg and think I will try 7.5mg after that, can always dial it down a bit if it's too much, spend a couple of weeks on 6mg or something.

SilenceInside · 30/08/2024 19:17

@Timetofindme I had the same experience. I immediately stopped snacking, which had been pretty constant as I was working from home. I used to not be able to walk into the kitchen without finding something to snack on. If I was bored with my work I'd find an appealing snack to distract me, and so on. The day that I did my first injection I stopped all that and I haven't snacked since. Just no interest at all. Before, I would hyper focussed on salty/fatty foods and want to eat them all the time.

Timetofindme · 30/08/2024 20:06

@SilenceInside So weird isn't it! I'm a definite boredom snacker so hopefully it helps change that!

BingoWingsOverScotland · 30/08/2024 20:15

I'd like to ask people what are the foods you've settled on as your staples? I'm only on week 2, and I'd like to vary it a wee bit more. So far I've eaten Greek yogurt with a few berries and some seeds for breakfast most days, and I've had omelettes with loads of veg and some cheese, Greek salad, and wraps (using a low-carb, high-protein wrap I found in the supermarket and thought was OK) with salad and hummus/smoked salmon/cottage cheese in it, mostly. And a couple of times I've cooked a fish fillet and had it with vegetables, but I don't like the smell in the house, even with the extractor going. I'm trying to keep protein quite high.

So help me out with some suggestions here! Especially for things that I can eat hot when the weather turns fully...

lookathatbookcase · 30/08/2024 20:39

@BingoWingsOverScotland There's a thread on what people are eating on MJ, which might be useful?

For me, I'm tending towards: bircher muesli or overnight oats with fruit for breakfast; or, hard boiled eggs with smoked salmon. Lunch is variable, but sometimes: chicken/salmon/tofu with rice, or a big salad with some protein (often tomatoes, cucumber, celery, capers, olives, and garlicky-lemon dressing), or, a chunky soup/dahl with chickpeas. Dinner is usually the chicken/salmon/tofu with rice and vegtables, either jerk chicken, or Japanese style (soy sauce, sesame oil, smoked tofu), or baked with Berber or sumac/ spices. If I'm really not feeling hungry, I try to sub in a protein pudding or protein shake as either breakfast or lunch.

As it gets colder I'm thinking about doing things like sumac-baked chicken breasts, ratatouille (or an easier version), teriyaki glazed aubergine, pesto chickpea stew - basically things that are relatively straightforward to cook, high protein, and can be made in batches for a few leftovers. I think a lot of stuff in the Roasting Tin recipe books will be good for this.

happygertie · 31/08/2024 00:52

Does anyone follow emthenutritionist on instagram? I have just come across her and her food looks amazing! Defo must be the MJ as I wouldn't ever normally fancy that kind of thing, but everything just looks fresh and healthy but also tasty.

WeAllHaveWings · 31/08/2024 15:37

Weigh in day for me! Broke the 10% and over 30lbs lost milestones this week! 😁

I can find a numbers "milestone" nearly every week, last week was the 2st lost one! 😂 Hopefully next week it will be seeing 18st as that first number on the scales!

End of week 10 (5 x 2.5mg, 5 x 3.75mg)
SW 21st 5lbs BMI 42.8
CW 19st 1lbs BMI 38.2
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3
Total loss - 32lbs, 10%

Started a little bit of exercise this week too. Only 2 x 1.5-2 mile walks but it is a start! Wish the weather was better here in Scotland (I don't mind the cold but it has been very wet most nights).

Still sticking to 3.75mg for now. Suppression is wearing thin towards the end of the week, but I am managing it for a day or two, or even if I have a little more in those last couple of days I can keep my average calories over the week within my target calorie deficit.

Well done to everyone still here on the journey to better health, congrats to those with loses and keep going to those without this week you'll be losing again very soon I'm sure!

Crouton19 · 31/08/2024 19:54

Amazing @WeAllHaveWings !

MokaEfti · 31/08/2024 19:58

Can someone advise? I am 60 yrs old, I don't look overweight but my stomach is fat and I find it impossible to stop my binging and fasting. I am interested in mounjaro, I put my info in online and was about to order it but wasn't sure about the dose etc
Please can anyone tell me what direction to look, I'm sick to death of my inability to stop having sweet snacks and I am so unhappy looking at my fat belly and not being able to do up my trousers

WeAllHaveWings · 31/08/2024 21:12

@MokaEfti have a read of this and come back if you have questions.

www.zavamed.com/uk/mounjaro.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqOL8A83Qi0BCPt63-DyWMifgvWFZBlWje0fv3KWhZBfIiH6kkY

You will need a BMI > 30 to be accepted. Or BMI > 27 with health conditions.

The link is from ZAVA, there are lots more pharmacies, I started with ZAVA but changed. If you look/ask on the discounts thread you will see lots of referral codes you can use for different pharmacies to get some money off.

For doses you start on 2.5mg and you can stay on any dose as long as it works for you, you should stay on a dose for at least 4 weeks before moving up. Injection is once a week. It is better not to race up the doses if you are getting the appetite suppression you need. MJ doesn't make you lose weight it suppresses your appetite so being in calorie deficit is easier.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 31/08/2024 21:37

@MokaEfti what is your BMI? You generally need a BMI of >30 to get a prescription, or 27 for some ethnicities. This thread is specifically for those of us with five stone or more to lose. If you look at the ‘Continuing Mounjaro - part 20’ thread on this board you will see that the opening post has a wealth of information to get you started. Good luck.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 01/09/2024 07:35

I didn't realise there was a thread 2!🤦‍♀️

Those who have been on mounjaro a while, how often are you needing to buy new clothes? I've gone from a size 22+ to 18, and I've realised that I don't have a single pair of trousers for work that fit me anymore. I'm using vinted and trying to stick to a capsule wardrobe to save money, as I still have a lot to lose, and I know that whatever I buy now, won't fit me in 2-3 months either. The clothes are costing me more than the mounjaro! (I am going to list a load of my too-big clothes on vinted now to help pay for the new stuff I need to get.)

I don't need to buy new clothes yet, but I think I'll be close on jumpers and some jeans.

I'm going to go for primark and Shein when I do need to. I know it's awful but it's cheap and cheerful, they won't last me forever so there's no point in spending a fortune

My main tactic has been to wear skirts to work as they are so much more forgiving of my shrinking bum. The only trousers I really wear at the moment are jeans and since starting all this in April I am on my third pair. I am very glad that I kept all of my pre-children work clothes, because I bought them when I actually had a decent disposable income and could afford to buy very good quality stuff in classic styles (eg lots of Jaeger and Jigsaw, and quite a bit of cashmere). I'm not quite back in it yet so I have a fairly small capsule to see me through until I am.

I’ll dig out a big vacuumed pack of much smaller clothes optimistically put aside.
I shall have to sort out Vinted - it’s going to be expensive 🙈

Thank you very much for your advice both of you. It seems I have a BMI of 25.6 so I don't qualify. Would it be dangerous for me to use this?

KeepingUndercover · 01/09/2024 10:54

@JanetSnakeholeMacklin I'm 5 months in I think (25 weeks) and I'm about to need my second wardrobe refresh. I think June sort of time I had to replace my size 22/24 stuff with 18/20. Which was fine as it was summer and I didn't have much summer stuff anyway. I'm still wearing that stuff but it's all much baggier and I'm going to need to size down again for trousers. I've got a couple of summer dresses that are fine still so maybe dresses are a better longer term bet!

Yes.

You cannot be prescribed this, you are at a virtually healthy weight.

Yes. Sorry. No reputable provider will prescribe you these drugs. I'm afraid you will need to find another solution.

It can be difficult to not get drawn into the media attention and hype for these "magic" jabs, but they are actually a serious prescription only medication for the treatment and issues around obesity and severe obesity, not for people at a healthy, or slightly overweight BMI.

They have unpleasant, very unpleasant for some people, side effects which obese people need to weigh up with the health risks of remaining obese.

If I was BMI 25-ish, I wouldn't be using them and would be looking at alternative ways of eating, exercising - which is what most of us on this thread will be hoping to be doing when we reach around your BMI.

Perhaps look for support in the Weight loss or exercise forums for advice. Good luck.

Same, dresses seem to last longer - I have sleeveless dresses that will transcend a few sizes, but trousers don't last at all. I am in a similar spot to you - on my second refresh - started right at the end of march.
@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I don't wear skirts - maybe I should check some out. Might be more forgiving as I lose weight than trousers. I don't have any smaller clothes to fit back into - I got rid of them all.

RobinEllacotStrike · 02/09/2024 10:12

I've been on holiday for a couple of weeks - ate pretty well but did drink a bit of booze. Still managed to lose a little.

I've just taken my 2nd 5mg jab.

SW 123kg SBMI 40.9
CW 117.5kg
CBMI 39.3 - So I'm below 40 now - YAY for the mini goals!
Loss TD - 5.5 kg
GW 85kg
Still to lose - 32.5 kg

I think I can see a small difference in my face, boobs, belly and thighs.

I'm feeling super tranquil on the 5mg - and "normal". I guess the lack of food noise feels less radical after a few weeks. Appetite suppresion doesn't feel as strong as it did on the 2.5mg.

ClonedSquare · 02/09/2024 12:11

I hit three stone loss in total this week and I'm so pleased!

Unfortunately in my head I've been thinking "oh I've lost around 3 stone" for about a month, so reaching the actual goal feels a bit anticlimactic 😂 I've learned my lesson for next time- no "I've lost about..." until I actually hit the target!
