I have very ordinary scales which don't do any of these clever things, but they are glittery rose gold, which cheers me up!

I've ordered my second MJ pen. 5mg, but from reading around the MJ threads, some people have had trouble with doubling their dose from 2.5mg overnight. I am planning to use the bonus dose, as like a stepping stone from the one to the other.

gimmemounjaro · 28/08/2024 13:43

I found some eufy smart scales reduced on Amazon, £29.99 and they seem to have everything you'd want. I'm not sure how reliable these measures of fat and muscle are without using very fancy scales / scans, but it might keep me amused and on track for a bit longer.

BingoWingsOverScotland · 28/08/2024 15:31

I think I've had the smallest NSV ever. In my car, the seat belt socket is set very low and I usually have to lean away from it to get my side out of the way. Today, I just found it without having to move any part of me.

gimmemounjaro · 28/08/2024 16:04

Ooh I had a NSV this week too - my sports bra has gone from the loosest to the tightest fastening 💪

I got all excited and tried on some jeans but alas they were just as too small as before. So I'm mainly losing weight off my back, evidently 🤷‍♀️

gimmemounjaro · 28/08/2024 16:04

That is a good one though @BingoWingsOverScotland 👏👏

FlopFlaps · 28/08/2024 16:06

Just received my delivery of the first pen! It's at home in my fridge, so I might take when I get back from work. I've eaten terribly today though as I had absolutely no idea it would arrive today. Should I take anyway?

I really want to avoid side effects. Though I seem to remember with ozempic the side effects only really came when I went to the higher doses

Sunshinegirl82 · 28/08/2024 19:17

Hello! I've been lurking but decided to join!

I've just done my first 7.5 of MJ, started at just over 109kg with a BMI of 40. Something about hitting the 40 mark made me decide I really had to get a grip on things having been slowly gaining weight since my kids were born (youngest is now 5).

So far, so good. I think I'm keeping the makers of protein yogurt in business single-handedly! Randomly, slim fast nourish pots have also been a bit of a find although probably not everyone's cup of tea!

I'm now at 98.7kg, have set an initial target of 75kg. I've progressed up month on month dose wise but using the bonus dose each time.

I hope everyone is having a good week!

KayeEyeEssEss · 28/08/2024 23:05

Hi everyone - like @Sunshinegirl82 I’ve been lurking, but popping up to say hello! Reading this thread for the last few weeks has inspired me to take the plunge - I’m cautiously hopeful this is the first step in a huge life change. Congratulations to all of you on your losses and thank you for your honesty.

I am 52, in perimenopause, and 5 ft 4. My first 2.5mg dose was 23 August:
Heaviest Weight (6 Aug): 107kg / 16st 12lb / 39.9 BMI
MJ SW: 105.8kg / 16st 9lb / 39.3 BMI
CW: 104.1kg / 16st 5lb / 38.7 BMI
GW: 64kg / 10st / 23.8 BMI

This first week has been fascinating - I’ve always eaten a really nutritious diet and exercised a lot, and just kept piling on weight year after year. Limiting my calories to what should be a good deficit has usually resulted in very minimal loss or just maintenance. And extreme hunger. So while I’m thrilled to see this initial loss (and, weirdly, slightly angry at how relatively easy it’s been), I am sceptical it will continue. But hopeful. My first goal is two consecutive weeks of loss, any loss.

Reading your posts has reminded me of the importance of patience - so again, thank you!

happygertie · 29/08/2024 05:56

1st weigh in today!
I will take 2nd injection tonight when I get in from work, but just jumped on the scales as I couldn't wait any longer

SW 23st 3lbs
CW 22st 12lbs
Total lost 5 lbs

Can't bloody believe it. Yesterday was so hard too, I'm on my period and wanted to eat everything in the house. I went over my deficit yesterday too. Hopefully the loses will continue.

KayeEyeEssEss · 29/08/2024 06:35

Congratulations @happygertie - hopefully the first of many!

Timetofindme · 29/08/2024 08:04

First injection last night. Was weirdly anxious as I did it and reread the instructions about 100 times 😂 Took it just before bed as I was out til late (swimming not drinking!). Woken up feeling a bit nauseous this morning but nothing unbearable and not sure if it's real or if it's cos I'm worried about it!

Going to try to count calories. Hoping this supports me in eating in a deficit, I usually struggle on reduced calories and can't stop thinking about food and feeling like I'm being deprived, so fingers crossed this is the support I need to enable me to improve my eating habits.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 29/08/2024 08:43

Congratulations to everyone who has lost weight. Onwards and downwards.

SW 110kg
CW 98.9kg
GW 64kg
Loss 11.1kg

I am delighted to be in double figures. I am glad I did jab just before my holiday and so I ate sensibly whilst I was away without impacting my enjoyment.

It’s taken me 14 weeks so far so I think realistically it will take me over a year to get to my GW but I am fine with that. It gives me time to reset my eating and exercise habits.

SilverSprings510 · 29/08/2024 10:24

My side effects are definitely strongest first day - wasn’t sure if I was imagining it last week but injection day I definitely get nausea, zero appetite (had yoghurt and granola for tea), heartburn and insomnia 😩 thankfully they do seem to settle day two.

FlopFlaps · 29/08/2024 10:37

Just did my first injection this morning. I had a bit of a blow out day yesterday. Not intentionally, but went to mcdonalds with my son yesterday and has a takeaway last night because my dad is visiting and wanted a treat with him.

The pen is a bit of a faff! I found ozempic a lot more straightforward to administer.

Weighed this morning and my starting weight is 244lbs which is 17 stone 6lbs

I am going to track food and be more mindful than I was when I did ozempic.

Weigh in day for me, end of week 9.

A more conservative 1lb loss this week, but I'll take it!

It was a smidgen off 2lbs, but I only count full lbs, tried to go for a pee to nudge it over the edge but no luck 🙈😂

End of week 9 (5 x 2.5mg, 4 x 3.75mg)
SW 21st 5lbs BMI 42.8
CW 19st 4lbs BMI 38.7
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1
Total loss - 29lbs, 9%

I have just injected and finished my 5mg pen with the 5th dose. I have only been using 3.75mg each week so no messing about with pliers this time it clicked up as normal, but must admit I am sooooo tempted by the further full dose that is sitting in the vial for next week.....even though my risk adverse head says it would be on day 35, beyond the 30 days discard rule if I did use it next week, but my eco/financial head says it is such a waste .......... got. to. thrown. in. bin 😖

My next 5mg pen arrived nice and cold yesterday and is sitting in the fridge ready for next week. Planning to stick to 3.75mg as it is still working well for me.

The new pen arrived with 4mm pen needles (my previous pen came with 6mm), and I used one this week, not sure if it is psychological but it felt much more comfortable than the 6mm needle.

Congrats to everyone for keeping on track for another week, whether they had a loss this week or not. It’s not about how quickly you get there, but staying on the path. ❤

Well done. Such great losses. How are you doing the 3.75 dose?

SilverSprings510 · 29/08/2024 12:07

Spoke too soon. Definitely suffering with nausea today 🤢

WeAllHaveWings · 29/08/2024 12:19

FlopFlaps · 29/08/2024 11:22

Well done. Such great losses. How are you doing the 3.75 dose?

60 clicks on any pen is a full 0.6ml dose.

On the 5mg pen if you only do 45 clicks your get a partial 3.75mg dose.

Maths is - dose you want mg / pen dose mg x 60 = number of clicks

3.75 / 5 x 60 = 45 clicks

CatTraveler · 30/08/2024 08:21

My 4th 5mg doze this morning and the scales only showed 0.4kg off - I did weigh a couple of times during the week and I had lost more then but I am not complaining, I have lost a stone and a half in 7 weeks, an average of 1.4kg/3.1lb a week.

0.4kg down this week.

SW - 134.7 kg (BMI 49.5)
CW - 125.0kg (BMI 46.1)
GW - 80kg (BMI 29.4)

Total loss 9.7kg (7.2% of SW)

BemusedBrenda · 30/08/2024 08:38

Fab to see everyone checking in and all the great losses 🤗

Week 9 for me and my second 7.5mg dose this morning. I'm still very lucky with minimal side effects compared to other posters I've seen here - I'm just cold and sometimes get a bit burpy!

SW 15st11 (221lbs)
CW 13st12.5 (194.5lbs)
Total loss on MJ = 26.5lbs. I also lost 6lbs before starting so 32.5lbs altogether.

I'm approaching the halfway mark and trying not to feel too disappointed in the changes in my body, I think I'm just about into the next dress size but I definitely don't need to be buying new clothes yet. I know it's just vanity (and I was stretching out my size 16s before I started losing weight!) but it's just such a significant thing for me, I've been really looking forward to wearing smaller sizes. I know I'll get there eventually.

Actual NSVs are: according to my husband I have stopped snoring and he is sleeping much better, I'm not waking him up anymore!

Also, my thighs don't rub anymore when walking in a dress/skirt! I went on holiday in May and had to religiously apply my body glide to stop chafing. My next holiday I won't even need to pack it!

NewoIkkin · 30/08/2024 08:48

0.6lbs up this week, which is absolutely fine. I’ve been on holiday.

RamblingFar · 30/08/2024 13:08

Weigh in day today. Another 1.25lb off, which I'm pleased with as I attempted a sneaky midweek weigh in a couple of days ago and I was 2lb up then.

I start my second 2.5ml pen today.

Most of the side effects are gradually going. Apart from extreme tiredness and bad dreams. I start back at my second job next week, on far more hours than I was expecting, so I'll have to see how that goes.

I trying calorie tracking now as well. The food suppression was so good I'm not sure I've been eating as much as I probably should, and I'm figuring that might not actually be helping the tiredness and therefore exercise level.

SW: 18st 7.75lb
Week 1: 8lb loss
Week 2: 1.25lb loss
Week 3: 5.25lb loss
Week 4: 1lb loss
Week 5: 1.25lb loss
Total loss: 1st 2.75lb
CW: 17st 5lb

gimmemounjaro · 30/08/2024 14:04

Well done @RamblingFar 👏 👏

I have a question for anyone on 7.5mg or higher - actually anyone really. Do you find that you lose weight for the first two or three days after injecting and then stop or even gain a bit in the second half of the week?

This happens to me on 5mg and I'm not sure whether it means I should try a bigger dose, or whether that's just how MN works for everyone.

This sometimes happens for me. I think because the appetite suppression/fullness is at its highest for the first few days so I naturally eat a lot less those days. I'm usually at my "target" weight for the week by Thursday morning (injection on Sunday) and don't move much or maybe slightly go up (like half a pound or so).

I can’t say this happens to me but I don’t weigh every day - only twice a week. I’m on my second 10mg pen.

If your net weight change across the week is negative and you are experiencing decent suppression with minimal side effects then your current dose is probably fine. Equally the jump to 7.5mg is not as drastic as the one you did when you moved to 5mg so you may find the increased dose easier if you do decide to move up.

I'm really surprised by the impact from my first 2.5 jab, mentally really. I've felt a bit sick, not hungry, and tracking calories so I eat enough. Definitely didn't eat enough yesterday (injected Wednesday evening) and not managed much yet today. Ive just been to the shops on my way home and would usually have bought all the treats cos its the weekend/ end of a difficult week and I had zero interest in them. I know 2.5 isn't a therapeutic dose so I wasn't expecting much.

I think lots of my day has still been spent thinking about weight/ body/ food but probably because I'm feeling sick and not wanting to eat. But I'm shocked at how much easier it was to go to the shops and come home without ALL the treats. Is this what it's like for some people normally!? Can't wrap my head around that!
