@PissedOffNeighbour22 I remember saying something similar. I used to say I'd never LET myself get overweight.
Congrats on your loss, you are doing amazing 👏

RobinEllacotStrike · 18/08/2024 14:02

@Seriestwo hope you are back on track soon.

Well done eveyone on all these losses.

Tirzepatide · 18/08/2024 16:55

@Seriestwo - so sorry that you went through all of that, and thank you for sharing it. Scary. I would start again on a low dose after you are absolutely certain the residual has completely cleared. It does seem prudent to start even lower than 2.5 mg, just to see if you have an adverse reaction now - I can't see that being a waste of money to find out and if all is well then you can more confidently start back on 2.5 mg.

I'm feeling really lethargic/unmotivated and have done for weeks now. Can't say it is related to MJ - might just be as I am moving less as on holiday (I've got plantar fasciitis in one foot so thought it could do with a rest) and got into the habit of being lazy. Been looking at supplements just now (and re-started the vit D and B complex I have) - probably a waste but... Really though, I just need to make myself do stuff! Might be peri. Might be a combination of lots of things! Worried about going back to work like this but it will probably do me good.

I went back up to 4.2 mg this week - as I felt under-suppressed last week, so skipped the planned 3.75 mg step, as I figured graph looked ok. I had the same symptoms last night though as on the 4.6 mg. ARGH!! Hopefully, unlike the 4.6 mg, it won't last all week so I can stay on this dose now. We'll see...

Hello everyone I started Mounjaro last night.
Start weight 21st 1lb BMI 47.6
Goal.... just a long way to go, I haven't set one

Tirzepatide · 19/08/2024 12:53

Pleased to say that the symptoms lasted less than a day and I'm back to normal now!

Now to work on the other changes I want to make alongside the weight loss...some I can't/don't want to until I've lost more weight but plenty of baby steps I can make in other areas.

Tirzepatide · 19/08/2024 12:54

Hi @Luvvies - good luck with your journey!

You will get there, don't stress about it. Long way to go, but each step (no matter how big or small) takes you closer. Trust the process, stay the course, the weight will come off. You got this!

BingoWingsOverScotland · 19/08/2024 13:04

@Luvvies - me too! Weighed in last week at 109.8kg, so very much hoping this works.

A question for other posters here - how long after your first jab did it take before you saw real appetite suppression?

3wDavid · 19/08/2024 13:05

Haven't checked in here in a while, just wanted to give a quick update, maybe it's the encouragement someone needs to hear:

SW: 107.2 kg / 16 st 12.5 lbs (May 25)
CW: 89.1 kg / 14 st 0.5 lbs (Aug 19)
Weight lost: 18.1 kg / 2st 12 lbs (16.8% of my body weight)

I am half-way to my goal, and have a while still to go, but this result so far has made it feel...doable. For the first time in a long long long time. In the 12 weeks (end of this week will be week 13) I've been on it, I've gone from BMI 37.1 to now BMI 30.8.

My next BIG goal is to get to a BMI under 30 which will be "just" Overweight.
I didn't think it would be possible. But now? Now, it feels like I might actually reach it... Onwards and downwards!

3wDavid · 19/08/2024 13:07

@BingoWingsOverScotland for me was instant - next day, but I think I may be in the super responder (or super responder - adjacent) category because 2.5 worked instantly and very very well for me.

Thank you - can I ask you, what did that feel like? Was it just not being hungry, or was there more to it than that?

3wDavid · 19/08/2024 13:19

Yeh, instantly not hungry, not really interested in food too, no cravings. I had to be mindful like “ok, it’s lunchtime, you need to eat something”, whereas before, I would have lunch planned out before I even finished my morning coffee…

Welcome @Luvvies ! I started at 21st 5lb mid July and a goal weight seems too far away.

I have lots of mini "wins" in my excel spreadsheet, which I tick off and keep my going. All achievable by Christmas if I have a average 2lb loss per week (I am in week 9). It would be the best Christmas ever to see 16st something on those scales!

I couldn't sleep after I'd done the injection - I was running through in my mind what if it doesn't work, what if I did it wrong, what if I'm allergic to it, this is cheating, you just need to stop being a pig, all the self-talk that's so damaging. So at 2am I ate a large amount of chocolate. Hoping a lot that this will help me stop doing stupid things like that.

@BingoWingsOverScotland it was 9 weeks ago and I started feeling ill/cold symptoms the day after my first injection then ended up in bed for a week with covid so difficult to tell the lack of appetite/"food noise" was mostly MJ or mostly covid or a combination of both.

I find now I have an appetite but the food obsession/noises are gone and I feel fuller sooner when I do eat.

From all the posts I have read, everyone responds very differently, and some of that might even be placebo effect before the medication does in fact kick in. Some don't have any suppression until 5mg or even higher.

I am trying to stay on lower doses as long as possible, I am currently on 3.75mg and hoping to be using 5mg pens for 5mg or less for the next couple of months (as I have preordered them!), but acknowledge I might need to throw some will power into the mix too!

I hope it works for you the way it has worked for me so far, my obsession presented as sitting waiting for dh to go to bed and then scoffing 150g bags of crisps AND large bars of chocolate and still wanting more. Then after that lying in bed thinking about what was in the fridge to eat (treats not meals) the next day and when I could have them. I would time online shopping deliveries to arrive when dh was out so I could scoff the apple pie before he got back. Everyday the diet was going to start the next day........once the fridge was cleared......

I have totally lost my sweet tooth. I haven't had anything sweet for those 9 weeks, even my pepsi max addiction doesn't appeal and I don't miss it. There is chocolate and Tunnock Caramel Logs untouched in the fridge for 9 weeks - unheard of! Not craving carbs - bread, chips, pasta etc either.

You need to stop self deprecating yourself. I now honestly believe these behaviours are not laziness, lack of will power or mental, your body has been fighting against your brain (whatever the science is with these GLP-1 hormones and sugar levels) and MJ is going to help you to fight back.

Hope it kicks in for you soon ❤

I need to catch uo but just want to dive in to ask, is 3.75 40 clicks? Thank you! X

Eminybob · 19/08/2024 19:07

I have a question - does this sound reasonable?
I'm on 12.5mg currently, going on holiday on Sunday for a week. I was thinking of taking my next injection as usual on Friday, but rather than taking it with me, I'll just do the next one the following Sunday when I'm back.
My thoughts are that suppression will start to wear off towards the end of the week but then I can treat myself a bit. So half the week good, so I can keep the losses on track.
Anything I need to consider? Will I be OK taking a dose a couple of days late? Especially at this dose? Thoughts?

I was thinking of doing similar. I am moving up to 5 but going to do it a few days later as I am away (Thursday instead of Tuesday) and then away for a week and next dose on my return from holiday. I don't really want to take everything to Greece with us.

gimmemounjaro · 19/08/2024 20:37

@Eminybob

I've done that a couple of times to try to get potential side effects to coincide with days at home. Longest I have done is Saturday - Monday, so an extra couple of days and it was fine, although suppression did wear off.

Is it a 5mg pen? If so I think it’s 45 clicks

CrazyKats · 20/08/2024 09:02

Only half a kilo from.being in double figures and almost 10kg weight loss since 11/07 😱 worked out that's 8% of my total body weight. Also in one pair of my size 16 jeans. Still short but less fat 🤣

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 20/08/2024 09:12

I've reached 5st loss this morning. That's 31.6% of my body weight gone 🎉.

Weight loss picked up again this week after a stall so I'm really happy to reach this target. Still have almost a stone to go to bmi 25 and I'm still fat so could stand to lose a bit more - I probably won't go much below 25 though as size 12 would be small enough for me to be happy with.

StormsAreNeverNamedAfterMe · 20/08/2024 10:28

wow congratulations @PissedOffNeighbour22 how long has that taken you?

Luvvies · 20/08/2024 10:43

@PissedOffNeighbour22 that is incredible, you should be feeling amazing. Congratulations
