Congratulations on your obesity 🥳

Thank you 😂 this is now the smallest my DP has ever known me!

Congratulations on your obesity 🥳

Hallmark has missed a trick in the card market here!

😁😁

Tirzepatide · 17/08/2024 10:58

Week 9 and first gain for me! Entirely predictable - mid cycle water retention (that tends to only really start making itself known on the scale after losing weight for 2+ months), still don't like it though...always that slight worry that it won't just all come off next week despite years of evidence that it [probably] will!

Well done @PrincessPeache 👏👏

Weigh day here, I'm in the first week of 5mg, injected on Tuesday..

4 weeks on 2.5mg: -4lbs
4 days on 5mg: -6lbs

🤯

Hallmark has missed a trick in the card market here!

I bet you could make a card online for someone in this situation 🤣

Tirzepatide · 17/08/2024 11:00

wow @gimmemounjaro - that 5 mg has really worked for you! 💫

Well done @PrincessPeache 💫

WeAllHaveWings · 17/08/2024 13:58

Saturday weigh in and 2st lost milestone! 😁

End of week 8 (5 x 2.5mg, 3 x 3.75mg)
SW 21st 5lbs BMI 42.8
CW 19st 5lbs BMI 38.8
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3
Total loss - 28lbs, 9%

I was expecting the 3's to settle down into 2's, but day 3 this week I just couldn't eat anything/felt nauseous which hasn't happened since week 1, hopefully a one off.

Well done everyone for this weeks losses!

@Tirzepatide I remember the 4 week cycle of temporary weight gain well, one of (the very few!) positive sides of menopause is I don't get that anymore!

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 17/08/2024 14:14

I
@WeAllHaveWings congratulations!!!

I really can't believe the difference in my mindset etc after just a week. Weekends have always been a struggle for me and I'd eat out of boredom. I've got so much done today and I've only had a slice of toast and a coffee! I can't believe I can even do this

Tirzepatide · 17/08/2024 15:27

Brilliant @WeAllHaveWings - congratulations of your second stone off!! 🎉🎉

Not much sign of menopause yet for me (51)...probably not a great surprise as I'm obese. Hoping that not being obese reduces my risk of late menopause though (as long as I don't get bad symptoms!).

Watched an interesting video posted by Oushk pharmacy this morning saying they are looking into maintenance programs once patients reach a healthy BMI.

One where you subscribe for 3 months at a time at the strength of your choice (or to taper down the doses), get 15% off, free delivery and monthly catchups/lifestyle support.

Another where, if you want to come off MJ, you pay £20/month to "stay on their patient list", they offer monthly catchups/lifestyle support and they will prescribe to you again if you feel you need a pen occasionally to maintain.

I am a looooooong way off maintenance, but good to see some pharmacies are starting to think about it, and others may offer their own maintenance plans soon. Perhaps by the time I get to that stage, there might be more options which are more affordable long term.

Ghilliedu · 17/08/2024 16:35

I’m with oushk and watched the live last night. So glad to see some pharmacies finally start thinking about maintenance. That said, I am also miles away from having to think about it.

finally lost 0.5lb this week after staying the same for the last couple of weeks. 5mg is not doing much for me at all! Hopefully it’s building up and this week will be better

Crouton19 · 17/08/2024 17:29

I remember when 13 something was a "fat weight" and now it's a (mini) goal.

Sorry I can't remember who wrote this upthread but I agree! I'm now around 12st8 (SW nearly 15st) which is just a couple of pounds off my weight when I got married 8 yrs ago, and I thought I was huge then. I'd got to that weight from 10st7 which I also at the time thought was huge. Now I would be happy with 11st! 😄

I've had a few weeks here and there of no losses but have stuck with it rather than give up which was one of my failings in the past. I don't mind now how slow and steady I lose as long as I'm at goal by the time I have to stop taking it. Thanks for the mentions about maintenance, I would definitely want to look into that.

So true.

I'm 4lb off my first mini goal of 12 stone. Coming from a starting weight of 15st 11lb I feel positively slim!

But 12st was my starting weight when I was at my biggest pre-kids and I felt so fat and unhappy! Got down to 10st back then and I can't imagine now being 2 stone lighter!

Crouton19 · 17/08/2024 18:01

@Eminybob Why were we so hard on ourselves!? (Society, media, magazines of course)

Well done on your losses so far, that's brilliant and all the better for being able to appreciate being at a healthy weight.

Seriestwo · 17/08/2024 18:09

Hi all,
I was here before, but dropped off the thread as I was ticking along with the injections. I started in March and thought this was going to be the solution to my 35 year history of obesity.

I’ve done it all, the usual story of believing this new things will work but it never does, massive self loathing and bingeing to cheer myself up.

This has worked for me. I’m fitter and down about 40 lbs from my heaviest. I am in a size smaller clothes, but only one, which is weird.

i stopped for a month die to some family illness and chaos and then did a really stupid thing of using a last 7.5g pen that was, but then, out of date. I realsied I shouldn’t be taking the last dose, that I should go back to 2.5 half way through the jag - and I have never been so ill afterwards.

hepful MNrs suggested phoning 111, I landed up on an IV and 5 days on I am starting to feel better.

It’s entirely my fault - my question is, what would you do? I still have 3 ish stones to go. Nothing else has ever worked. I have high BP and arthritis and am menopausal and would like to be able to move in 20 years. The side effects were ok when I used the stuff properly. The injections worked for me for about 9 days so I was taking them over a longer period than you are supposed to.

I think if I phone the pharmacist they’ll just say “it’s fine, carry on”, but they would, wouldn’t they?

Has anyone split the 2.5mg dose? O think if I did 1.25mg in a week or so from now there won’t be anything left in my system. Start again with baby steps.

Or is 1.25 Just a waste of time and money?

WeAllHaveWings · 17/08/2024 18:44

@Seriestwo 5 days in hospital sounds like serious stuff. Glad you are on the road to recovery.

Personally if it was me, I would either speak to my GP for advice on when it is safe to restart, or give myself a month or two to ensure I was fully recovered.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 17/08/2024 18:46

@Seriestwo seek medical advice - was it the actual drug or just taking the 7.5mg off the bat that caused the issues?

What I'd do is leave it at least a month and focus on recovering, I know it's tempting to lose the weight but your body needs to be healthy to be able to do it effectively. So give it some time and then I'd start from scratch on 2.5 if cleared by doctors to do so x

Seriestwo · 17/08/2024 21:26

Oh, sorry, I was only in for one night! 5 days of being unwell but most of that was at home!

GP is great, but doesn’t know very much about these medications, why would she? They aren’t easy to get on NHS.

I’ve been through the NHS obesity system, I’m not complaining about my GP, or the system, but I am not fat because I don’t understand portion or cooking or vegetables or exercise.

I’m fat for other reasons. I wish I knew what they are.

Do they know what made you unwell? Personally I'd still wait as it's a risk to jump right back in at 7.5

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 17/08/2024 22:57

@Seriestwo I’m sorry you’ve been so unwell. I am not sure why you would do a 1.25mg dose? It would be wise to get the all-clear from your GP, then you could use the GLP1 plotter site posted upthread to work out when your body should be free of the medication and start again at 2.5mg.

OP posts:
Seriestwo · 18/08/2024 02:12

No, I won’t go back to 7.5! Ever, probably, 5 was working with a 1-2lb loss a week which suits as if makes me have to do exercise and pay attention to protein etc.

Good point about the plotter, o was thinking it would be out of my system in a week, but that’s 2.5! I am a bit muddled in my thinking.

this the 1.25 idea - build up really slowly again. But there’s no need, the dose is 2.5 for a reason.

th and all. I do feel better tonight. I’ll wait too my appetite comes back and then speak to my GP.

mum interested in why out of date medication would make me so ill. It’s not chicken!

SakuraTrees · 18/08/2024 02:30

@Seriestwo sorry if I've misunderstood but did you not have a dose for a month then had 7.5mg? If so that's what made you so ill.

Seriestwo · 18/08/2024 02:43

Yes, and the dose was the last in the pen. So well over the month old.
I took about 4mg of the 7.5 dose and then thought “this is probably too much. Oops”

I threw out the pen!

ir seems like a lot of sickness for 4mg (ish).

anyway, I’m better and I suppose the lesson is - don’t be an eejit like me, ladies.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 18/08/2024 08:20

@Crouton19 I remember in my early 20s actually saying to someone that if I ever went over 10st I'd want to throw myself off a bridge 😣. When I started MJ I was almost 16st.

Yesterday I dropped under 11st for the first time in many years. I'm probably straight back over it again as I had a takeaway pizza last night. Feels good knowing I'm within a stone of being bmi 25 though.
