Did my second doze of 5mg this morning, so end of week 5.

Last week had good supression over the weekend and it did lift the last couple of days but still was there.

Lost 2.6kg but the week before only lost 0.1kg so that has averaged out. That is me lost 6% of my starting weight at an average of 1.6kg a week. I know it wont stay like that but happy to get things moving.

I am aiming to eat about 1600kcal a day, and 100g protein, but I am not getting hung up on tracking (a real trigger for me) and trying to eat sensable meals.

SW - 134.7 kg (BMI 49.5)
CW - 126.5kg (BMI 46.5)
GW - 80kg (BMI 29.4)

Total loss 8.2kg (6.1% of SW)

Great progress @CatTraveler ! I'm having a slow week this week too (in fact, looking like it will be a gain week) after a couple of higher loss weeks. Always happens mid cycle but still unnerves me.

I would stick with the 7.5 mg @LoquaciousPineapple and only go up a dose (or sub dose) when that stops working well for you. I'm definitely in the 'if it isn't broke don't fix it' camp! I went from 4.2 mg (which was working great) up to 4.6 mg and got symptoms I wasn't going to put up with on that, so had to drop back down to 2.5 mg last week (with accumulated it wasn't such a big drop as it sounds) - going back up to 4.2 mg today. Wish I had stuck there! I'm only going up (a sub dose) when I'm not happy with the suppression next time.

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark oh dear! Hope you weren't too bad!

Many congratulations @Eminybob ! That is a major milestone! 💫

@2024christmas - sounds like a doable target! Well done on your progress so far!

EternalFatalist · 16/08/2024 10:30

Happy Friday! Injection Number 7 this morning - second 5mg dose. Weigh-in Number 6:

Start weight: 15 st 8 lbs (BMI = 37.2)
Current weight: 14 st 3 lbs
Goal weight: 9 st 0 lbs (BMI = 21.5)
Week 1 Loss = 6 lbs
Week 2 Loss = 5 lbs
Week 3 Loss = 3 lbs
Week 4 Loss = 0 lbs
Week 5 Loss = 2 lbs
Week 6 Loss = 3 lbs

19 lbs gone in total over six weeks and the 13s are in sight! I remember when 13 something was a "fat weight" and now it's a (mini) goal.

No reactions to 5mg yet other than feeling colder than usual, even in the heat. Mind you, I am notorious for always feeling cold and needing a blanket.

A couple of NSVs this week. On Monday, my colleague said "You look like you've lost a lot of weight...have you?" Followed by "Oh...hopefully it's been intentional". I said that I've lost a few lbs on purpose and left it at that. I really hate a fuss. Then yesterday I wore a size 12 dress (instead of a 14) and it fit nicely. I was also able to wear cute ballerina flats without my ankles swelling up!

I wish that MN had "like" buttons and "care" buttons because there have been so many posts on the threads that I follow, both happy and not so happy, over the past week. It helps to be part of this whole community. Weight loss and self-care is not easy.

I’ve just realised I am absolutely doing this too. I hadn’t even considered it until I read your post but I have replaced wandering into the kitchen with picking up my phone and scrolling through the FB groups. To be honest I mostly get annoyed at a lot of the posts so I think I’ll leave the groups and just stick to these threads which I’ve found much more helpful.

thank you so much for making me think about this!!

This is something I have noticed @Ghilliedu and @RobinEllacotStrike. I can't believe how much time I used to spend thinking about and preparing food (I am a very keen cook). I am reading a book a week at the moment in the time that has been liberated by MJ!

I finished a 10mg pen with my last jab and have decided to stay on 10mg for the next one. I'm going away on Sunday for a week and will inject that morning. I am looking forward to approaching the buffet without my previous pile-it-high attitude. When discussing holidays at work a colleague who had had a gastric sleeve told me that she won't go on AI holidays any more because she 'won't get her money's worth'. I thought that was pretty sad, really. Quite apart from the fact that there are four other people in her family to consider, it just goes to show how important mindset is in all of this. This holiday is long-needed and I'm determined to see its value in something other than how much I can shovel in my mouth at the buffet.

I absolutely think that finding healthy ways to use this time to retrain our mind/thoughts is going to be vital in the post monujaro success game. Food noise/self talk/negative food choice justifications are a big part of why we are overweight, and I'm trying to make the most of this space mounjaro creates..

It was incredible how easily I was drawn into filling up the food noise space with mounjaro noise and I'm really gald to have identified this - I don't think its helpful of healthy - certainly not for me.

I'm going on my first ever all inclusive holiday with my DD's in a week. I'm really looking forward to "making the most of it" by having a range of healthy foods I can pick & choose from, which hopefully includes lots of precut fruit, salads and lean protein. I have ZERO sweet tooth now and have been very happily avoiding refined carbs. We are going to Greece so I will probably have some calamari but hopefully there are non-battered/crumbed options.

Ghilliedu · 16/08/2024 12:45

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I have a pile of books at the side of my bed that I need to get round to so that could be a better option than constantly scrolling MJ info on my phone!

I also have an AI holiday coming up in October and I’m looking forward to eating a normal amount rather than a 4 course breakfast like previous years! MJ definitely won’t be changing my holiday habits, my kids love an all inclusive!

KeepingUndercover · 16/08/2024 13:09

I don't really get not going on an all inclusive because you can't stuff yourself. Surely the delight is more in that you can just eat when you want and don't have to cook? Or, most importantly for me, feed the bloody kids. Much as I like food, for me the value would definitely be in the break from the drudge of meal prep.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 16/08/2024 13:28

Same, @KeepingUndercover. My two can gorge themselves on fruit that I won't have to bloody chop!

I hear you on the ever-growing TBR pile @Ghilliedu. There aren't many silver linings to STBXH leaving but I must admit that I have enjoyed colonising his former bedside table with my book pile.

My kids are very excited about the AI - mostly re drinking mocktails & fizz which they don't have usually.

I'm thrilled with a week of no cooking or cleaning 😆

RamblingFar · 16/08/2024 14:30

Well done on the losses everyone!

SW: 18st 7.75lb
Week 1: 8lb loss
Week 2: 1.25lb loss
Week 3: 5.25lb loss
CW: 17st 7.25lb

Did my 4th injection this morning. I'm now down 14.5lb in 3 weeks. I had 4 days of eating meals out last week as well. I'm planning on taking my bonus dose next week, then probably sticking at 2.5mg for another pen. I had a lot of side effects for the first couple of weeks, and although they are trailing off, I don't think I'll need any extra suppression.

Ghilliedu · 16/08/2024 14:36

I could have written this! My daughter says the mocktails are the thing she’s most excited about!

Im really hoping to get a bit more weight off before our holiday but I seem to be stalling on 5mg. It’s not really doing anything for me at all. Did anyone else feel this? No side effects, no suppression and over the last few weeks I’ve actually gained 1lb. Weigh in day tomorrow so will see how that goes. It’s pretty demoralising as I’ve had steady losses up to now.

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/08/2024 14:46

I just went to donate blood and my haemoglobin levels have dropped quite a bit to 105. I'm usually a bit low/borderline for donating, but this is a big drop. So no blood donation for me.

They werent too worried but it got me thinking. I have suspected I have nutirient absorbtion issues for some time - I do eat a lot of vegegtables in my general diet so I never knew why my iron was low. With monjaro slowing down the digestive process I was hoping it might improve the nutirient absorbtion as the food stays in gut longer. But perhaps not.

Its something I might need to look into a bit more.

gimmemounjaro · 16/08/2024 15:22

Has anyone felt faint on MJ? I keep coming over all dizzy today - definitely not lack of food as I had a big lunch and have drunk 1.5L of water so far today. I have always been inclined to postural hypotension but this is all the time, not just on getting up. I injected my first 5mg dose on Tuesday.

Had it a couple of times after overexertion and I think it was related to not having eaten enough

gimmemounjaro · 16/08/2024 15:45

Thanks @NeedSomeAnswersPlease

I am having some salted peanuts in case that helps.

I did have a big lunch but maybe the slowed digestion means it takes a while to make a difference. I read that MJ levels in the blood peak at 72hrs after injection, which is exactly where I'm at.

I don't like eating breakfast so naturally fall into intermittent fasting but maybe that's not such a good idea. Since moving up to 5mg I am hungry at lunch but struggling to eat much at dinner time so basically going 24hrs without very much at all. Maybe I need a snack when I wake up or something.

Yes. I tend to drink an electrolyte drink and eat something small.

gimmemounjaro · 16/08/2024 16:24

Thanks @RamblingFar

Can you recommend an electrolyte drink, would that be lucozade or something similar?

RamblingFar · 16/08/2024 16:26

I have a mixture of lucozade sport, dioralyte and dissolvable High5 tablets.

2024christmas · 16/08/2024 16:45

I have recently I am now on 12.5 mg but I am also on amateiptolyn and it's a side effect of that so I've put it down to the amateiptolyn but I have got dizzy a few times recently.

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/08/2024 17:11

I love raw almonds for a snack - they are quite substainstial, have fiber, good fats, protein, no additives. The idea of just eating a few almonds was always so strange to me, but now 10 or so raw almonds is a great snack/boost if I need it.

Have you checked if you have a gluten intolerance or the like, as those symptoms may indicate an issue?

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/08/2024 08:03

I have had IBS for which gluten from quick growing modern wheat was a trigger - I now avoid most commercial bread. But I've been managing the IBS successfully for a few years mainly using kefir.

I will keep that in mind thanks.

Nurse at blood bank suggested I keep an eye on my blood levels at the GP. oh how I laughed!

PonyPatter44 · 17/08/2024 08:36

I am under 93kg at last! 90kg is in sight...

We booked our honeymoon last night, so suddenly everything is very very real. I was fat for my first wedding, I'm not going to be fat for this one.

PrincessPeache · 17/08/2024 08:44

I’m no longer morbidly obese!! Just plain old obese for me 😂
