Mounjaro lower starting weight 13st 3lb

Hi,

I'm looking for anyone who has started mounjaro at a borderline BMI for treatment.
I only just tip into the obese category at 13st 3lb, but the threads I've seen so far seem to be success stories of people starting with BMI 40+

Would it be worth it at my weight? Would I still see losses that would be more than dieting alone does anyone know?

I am 5ft 5 with a BMI of 30 btw.

I started on 2.5mg last Friday weighing 12st 8lbs. I'm 5"3 have a BMI of 31.
I had a sneaky weigh this morning ahead of my official weigh day tomorrow, and have lost 5lbs.
Obviously everyone's experience is different but in my case, to date, it's been worth it.

Yes, I started at 13 stone exactly (I’m short so BMI was 31). I have lost 1 stone in 4 weeks. I’m expecting the weight loss to slow down after the initial rush, but will be happy with 1-2lbs a week.

Luckingfovely · 20/06/2024 14:23

I'm similar and wondering the same.

Also - any hot tips on where best to buy from at the moment?

A stone in 4 weeks is great. Have you noticed a difference in your thoughts for food? Have you actively changed your diet and calorie consumption alongside the jab?

This is a great loss for a lower starting weight. Have you actively made healthy changes to your eating alongside the jab? Or are you eating the same foods?

I've had excellent appetite suppression, so I have been eating a lot less but making sure that what I am eating is really high in protein. I am averaging about 1200 cals per day, but it's very conscious eating now as I'm simply not hungry.

@KimFan
That's what I could do with, the appetite control where I only eat when I need to eat and make better choices for those meals.
Think I may give it a go.

It's honestly crazy how it works. I had heard so much mention of "food noise" and now I know I definitely had it. It's so freeing not to be thinking about eating all the time!

firewooden · 20/06/2024 16:41

@KimFan
Yes, since reading the weight loss threads on here I've heard about food noise, which I had never heard about before and it makes sense to what I feel about food.

I've actually lost just under 7 stone up to this point, however, it's taken me 2 and half years due to constantly thinking about food, so for roughly every 3 weeks I'm great and can stay in a deficit, but then I will have a week that I can't stop eating as all I do is crave food.

Hoping that Mounjaro might help with that and get the last 2/3 stone off

Yes, definitely noticed a huge difference. I eat my meals, am full, and don’t think about food apart from that. I haven’t actively changed my calorie intake; I planned to try and stick to 1200 calories but actually that’s just happening naturally. I am trying to eat more protein as I don’t want muscle loss, and making sure I have plenty of fruit and veg to keep my nutrient intake up. I’m sometimes having to consciously force myself to make a meal as I could take it or leave it.
Honestly it’s life changing. It’s an absolute revelation to not be thinking about food all the time. And I didn’t even notice I was, before MJ!

mcdle · 20/06/2024 17:55

O'm 5'3 with a BMI of 30, yesterday was my first jab. Haven't been hungry or snacking but thinking that might be placebo effect. Hoping it's not, or that the real benefits kick in before the placebo effect wears off 🫣

ObsidianTree · 20/06/2024 18:26

There are some that started on BMI 30 ish when Mounjaro came out in Feb that are already hitting BMI 25.

Yes this drug will help you for sure 😊

mcdle · 20/06/2024 18:30

I'm feeling very hopeful. I lost around a stone and a half through diet and exercise but I'm a massive stacker and have been stuck losing and gaining the same 5lbs for at least a year.

mcdle · 20/06/2024 18:31

*snacker 😂

Bigredpants · 20/06/2024 18:37

I started at BMI 31 three weeks ago. Am about 7-8lb down and very few side effects. That’s the 0.25 dose which isn’t supposed to be full effect so will be interesting when I start the 0.5 next week.
It is amazing. Am eating mindfully and healthily. No hunger and just need to remember to drink a lot of water and eat fibre.

firewooden · 20/06/2024 18:46

Thanks for the replies, it seems like a lot of lower weight starters have had some really positive results so it may be worth the investment

I've just clicked the join voy link, answered the questions and they're offered me orlistat. Why haven't they offered mounjaro? Has this happened with anyone else?

rainbowarepretty · 20/06/2024 20:11

I started yesterday!
SW 12st 12
GW 10st
I bought mine from Boots but seem I could have got it cheaper from other places. Actually feel good today. Couldn't sleep last night as I was worried that I was going to have gastro problems. No idea why as I didn't even feel poorly!! 🤣

What's your bmi? Might be too low maybe?

yajustneverknow · 20/06/2024 21:26

My bmi is 30. I've heard there's dodgy gastro side effects with orlistat.

mcdle · 20/06/2024 21:43

It's supposed to be bmi over 30 so possibly that, although I'm sure mine was 30 (12.3 and 5'3) I had to send pic in shorts and tight clothing and take a video of me getting on scales, which actually showed 12.5 (my weight fluctuates through the day massively), but I'd put 12,3 on my form.

I tried orlistat in the past and from my experience if you aren't extremely careful with your diet.. do not trust a fart 🫣
