Mounjaro lower starting weight 13st 3lb

firewooden · 20/06/2024 13:37

Hi,

I'm looking for anyone who has started mounjaro at a borderline BMI for treatment.
I only just tip into the obese category at 13st 3lb, but the threads I've seen so far seem to be success stories of people starting with BMI 40+

Would it be worth it at my weight? Would I still see losses that would be more than dieting alone does anyone know?

Me too - I ordered last night, but won’t be able to send the photos until Friday as I’m away with no weighing scales! The email said to do it within 3 days so I’m hoping they don’t cancel the order - especially as they’ve taken the money from my account!

Have you started to think about the meals that you’ll eat once you start?

weknowfrogsgotralalalala · 16/07/2024 13:36

Going to prioritise protein (I’m vegetarian and often don’t get enough protein) and veg I think. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact it was.

hope you get your photos in without an issue 😊

I'm not expecting a loss this week (week 2) I've had a few social events on so had a bit to drink and quite a few bad choices in food but I'm taking it in my stride, I need to remember that 2.5mg is not intended to be effective for weight loss as it's a loading dose so I'll take this week as it comes. In terms of side effects, I've not had any this week. Just headaches when I initially injected.

mcdle · 17/07/2024 07:15

4 wees since my first jab weigh in:
SW 12.4
CW 11.5 1/2
GW 9.5

I'm pleased with the loss although in the last two weigh ins I've lost 1lb and 1 1/2lbs so has really slowed. I'm definitely in calorie deficit and keeping my water up plus exercising regularly so not sure what else can do. As long as the teen continues downwards I'll carry on as there's no way I'd have stuck to calorie deficit for 4 weeks without it. Started 5ml pen so let's hope that gives me a boost.

So you’ve lost just under a stone in 4 weeks? That’s impressive! Do you feel
like you’ve lost a lot of weight or have dropped a dress size? What have you been eating and I see you say you’ve stuck to the deficit, what’s your daily calorie allowance?

sorry loads of questions there, hope you’re having a great day!

mcdle · 17/07/2024 19:18

@Johaanah when I look in the mirror I don't see much difference but I'm fitting into clothes I haven't been able to wear for ages, so I'd say yes definitely some proper weight lost.

Eating wide I start with a protein shake, lunch either chicken or eggs but not much and then dinner just a much smaller portion of whatever we're cooking for the family and if I fancy something sweet meringue nest with strawberries or a frozen yoghurt lolly. O still have the occasional wine and beer but just forego the calories elsewhere. That's a snapshot. I've been vigilant with keeping a paper food diary and writing it down as I eat so I know exactly what's going in.

Exercise wise I'm aiming for an extra 600 active calories a day (Apple Watch). I alternate between weights, spin, treadmill, swimming and some days just a really long walk. If I haven't reached the 609 by the end of the day I'll just go for a walk round the block. I'm pretty consistent and have only missed that a couple of times in the last 4 weeks.

Not sure how long I'll be so committed but it's working for now 😬

mcdle · 17/07/2024 19:19

Sorry, meant to say I try for under 1200, some days I'm not even hitting 1000.

Changingplace · 18/07/2024 14:23

I’m just over 13 stone and I’ve just been approved, looking forward to getting started - very impressive that some people have lost a stone in a month!

I’d like to get down to around 11 stone so if I can kick start a stone off so quickly I’ll be over the moon :)

yajustneverknow · 18/07/2024 17:14

I'll be interested to see what the scales will show tomorrow, I've had a couple of boozy days which comes with poor food choices and the appetite suppression wore off yesterday so I can't see good results tomorrow, I've only had 2 injections so far.

yajustneverknow · 19/07/2024 18:02

I didn't weigh myself today, I weigh at work and was off today with covid. I still took my 3rd injection today, had a very slight dicky stomach but think that is due to Covid, don't have any appetite and don't feel hungry so I'm hoping it's the MJ kicking back in as the suppression definitely wears off after about 4-5 days

Changingplace · 19/07/2024 22:55

Right, it’s arrived!! I’m a bit scared to start now… know I’m being a bit silly

mcdle · 20/07/2024 08:27

@Changingplace good luck, you'll be fine! 🙂

Someone on another group just recommended using chat gpt to create meal and workout plans. I hadn't thought about doing that so just tried and it worked great so thought I'd pass on in here.

Johaanah · 20/07/2024 12:25

Hey guys, I’m still waiting to be approved, I’ve sent in the photos and ID and had a reply to say that someone will take a look soon.

I’m currently the heaviest I’ve been for a long time, so looking forward to starting soon (fingers crossed)

Johaanah · 30/07/2024 06:16

How's everyone getting on? I'm about to take my second dose today and I've lost 6lbs so far, the problem is I'm really struggling to eat, it's not too bad in the morning and afternoon but come the evening I just cannot face food.

I'm taking loads of supplements- which I've always done, and managing around 50g of protein each day but my calorie intake is always under 1000. Other than a head the first few days I've had no side effects yet.

Quick question- when it's time to reorder with Zava do you need to go through the steps as when you first order by sending in photos and filling out all of the questions? I initially ordered the starter pack of a 0.25 pen and a 0.5 pen but I'm thinking I may not need to move up and could stay on 0.25.

mcdle · 30/07/2024 07:39

That's a great loss! I did start to get a bit of hunger back towards the end of 2.5 pen so moved up to 5 but the suppression is stronger than ever now so may stick to 5. If you're still feeling good you could stick with 2.5. I'm of the mindset the lower we can stay with suppression the easier it will be for maintaining (no idea how correct that is just my uneducated guess 🙂) but also cheaper too!

I struggle to get over 1000 most days, and I'm really struggling with protein so try to start the day off with a protein shake. I need to get a grip of eating several small meals as I tend to have the shake then one larger meal a day and always feel uncomfortable afterwards.

I'm now on my 6th week and have lost 19lbs so am really pleased with the loss. People are really noticing now too. I started at 12.4 and now I'm 10.13. I'm short at 5'3 and would like to lose another 20lbs ideally. I am conscious that at mid forties things may start heading south so have also tried to be really strict with the exercise too.

Not sure about ZAVA but Med Express didn't ask for any pics on second order just the original questions (most were pre-filled from last time so was simple).

Thanks for the reply, I'm in a similar position to you actually as I'm 5ft3 and 11st 1lb (I submitted photo's at 12 st and managed to lose a bit of weight between sending them and starting as I was working away) - this time last year I was around 10st 3lb and a size 10 and felt much better in myself, but I was far from slim as I carry my weight around the middle.

I have a PT and he said my target weight is around 55kg which is 8 and half stone but I think I'd be ok with 9st, I've been weight training for 2 years now and its def changed my body shape even though I struggle to build muscle.

I'm already mid forties and can confirm it does get harder to shift weight!

It's good to hear that I'm not alone in the low calorie eating, I was a bit worried about that to be honest, I'm trying to plan what I eat in advance, on mornings that I train I have a banana for breakfast, or if I'm home fruit and yogurt for breakfast, salad with eggs, ham or chicken for lunch and can rarely face eating in the evening, I've been eating half a grenade bar to up the protein as I can't face milky drinks and one of those little cathedral city cheese squares. I don't feel lethargic or exhausted so I guess the Calories I'm eating do fuel me.

I think this is the first time in my life that I can leave food on my plate without forcing myself to finish it too.

yajustneverknow · 03/08/2024 09:00

I'm feeling quite disheartened about my 4 jabs on 2.5mg. I lost 3lb in my first week, but this has gone back on and I haven't lost anything else since. I haven't been making great food choices and the suppression wore off a lot sooner so I think it stopped working. I took my bonus 2.5mg last night while I wait for my first 5mg pen. I've found my second order has taken longer, ordered Tuesday and still isn't here. Any one that didn't notice much or any loss on 2.5mg, do you notice a significant difference on 5mg?

mcdle · 03/08/2024 10:14

I had good loss but found suppression wearing off each week so really had to work on what I was eating when that happened, 2 weeks into 5ml and the suppression is very strong! I get it's frustrating though because if we were able to make good food choices on our own we wouldn't need to use it, I think the only thing that motivated me was the cost of MJ.

The 2.5 is supposed to just get our bodies prepped for the meds, so suppression on that dose is a bonus if it happens. I hope the 5ml works for you! Smile

I am 5ft 5 with a BMI of 30 btw.

Your the same height and weight as me. Il be starting next week did you start it? X

Cosycover · 07/08/2024 19:33

Can someone explain to me like I'm a 5 year old on how this actually works please?

Surely if you cut your cals to 1200 you would lose weight anyway? What does this drug do over and above that?

I can't decide whether to take the plunge and get it or not.

diian · 07/08/2024 23:21

The drug suppresses your appetite so you do not crave food. It takes away the 'food noises' is a good way of thinking about it. It does not make you feel full, but you just don't fancy eating and when you do eat, you don't fancy eating much so you reduce your portion sizes naturally. I don't crave chocolate or something sweet after a meal either. It is the easiest diet I have done as I am not constantly thinking about food or feeling hungry.

I am feeling fitter than ever. I don't lack energy even though I have reduced my calorie intake. It has been a fantastic tool to help me move towards a healthier BMI.
