Mounjaro lower starting weight 13st 3lb

Hi,

I'm looking for anyone who has started mounjaro at a borderline BMI for treatment.
I only just tip into the obese category at 13st 3lb, but the threads I've seen so far seem to be success stories of people starting with BMI 40+

Would it be worth it at my weight? Would I still see losses that would be more than dieting alone does anyone know?

Everything diian just said, but I differ in that it does make me feel full so I'm able to eat much smaller portions and feel fuller for longer so don't snack ❤️

Has anyone got a code that isn’t Zava as it contacts your gp. I have a relative working in my gp practice and I’d rather they didn’t know.

I took my bonus 2.5mg dose last Friday and for the first time since taking this I actually felt nauseous when faced with food. I had loose bowels for 24hours and all side effects settled down. Suppression has been really good with this last dose of 2.5mg and I'm due to take my first 5mg dose tomorrow so I'm expecting some side effects.

I haven't actually weighed myself for ages. I lost 3lb in my first week. Put this back on by the 4th week, without loosing anything but I do feel like I've lost a few lbs now. I won't be weighing myself for over a week as I weigh at work and I'm off for a week, so by the time I weigh I'll have done 5 doses of 2.5mg and 2 doses of 5mg so I'll be sure to report back.

Hi, looking for bit of advice please!

Start weight was 11st 11bs and I was aiming to get to 9st7lbs to get me from obese to healthy BMI (I'm a shortie).

I'm 2 weeks in (just taken my 3rd jab) and I'm already down 10lbs. I know a lot of this will be water weight but when you're short and don't have large amounts to lose it feels like a lot.

I'm eating 1000+calories and focusing on protein, healthy fats, veggies etc haven't eaten any crisps, biscuits or anything 'unhealthy' since I started, also been walking 10,000 steps a day, alongside exercising 4-5 times a week (strength and cardio). This is all new since taking the jabs, I barely walked 3000 steps/day 3 weeks ago.

I feel great to be honest, no side effects, a lot more energy than I've had in a long time but I'm concerned I'm loosing too much too quickly. My next jab will be posted in a few days so I'm thinking it would be best to stay on 2.5 again? My suppression is definitely a lot less and im having to rely on will power (and I only injected yesterday!) but I'm concerned if I up it to 5mg my weight loss is going to be too much. I'm quite happy loosing 1-2lbs a week now.

Did anyone experience similar?

Thank you 😊

Mummyto4WM · 10/08/2024 12:44

I'm 5'4. Had a BMI of 31. Started mounjaro last Monday. 5lbs down already. My plan is a 3 month plan, Don't plan on exceeding 5mg may go to 7.5mg.

No issues in my first week.

Silvesterthecat · 10/08/2024 16:32

@Sarahlouise86 it will slow down don’t worry!! Like you say a lot at the start is water weight and your metabolism will get used to 1000 cal a day. I’m steadily loosing 2lbs a week ish after the initial 2 weeks swoosh. I have followed the correct doses albeit with an extra bonus dose from the pen and I found the 5mg was actually where I lost the least

mcdle · 10/08/2024 16:58

@Sarahlouise86 very similar to me, my starting weight was a bit higher at 12.4. Ive lost 20lbs so far and just finished my second pen. Lots of suppression and lost most of my weight in the first 4 weeks and then it's slowed right down to 2lbs a week and haven't lost anything in the past week and a half. I wanted to stay on 5 but I'm not feeling as much suppression, 7.5 in the fridge waiting for next week will see how it goes. As a poster said earlier my bodies getting used to the medication so I feel like more effort and willpower required to get me to my GW of 9.5 stone

Sarahlouise86 · 14/08/2024 06:53

Thank you @Silvesterthecat and @mcdle for the replies.

You're right and my weight loss has definitely slowed down this week. I think I'll be on track to lose 2lbs which is much more in line with what I wanted. I won't be far off a stone in a month if i lose another 2lbs next week so very happy with that!

The suppression is definitely not as strong as it was in the first couple of weeks but I'm managing to continue eating healthily and under my calorie limit so I think for the time being I'm going to stay on 2.5 as I always wanted to keep it as low as possible and I feel like it's still doing something for me. May regret that decision in a week or two Blush

How's everyone getting on? Has anyone reached their target weight and started maintenance yet?

I'm 8 weeks in and just taken my 9th dose, Ive had 5 x 2.5 and 4 x 5mg, lost 21lbs so far and Am hoping to lose another stone, I've got another 5mg pen in the fridge and will order another in a few weeks. I've been lucky and the only real side effects have been tiredness and lack of appetite.

I'm thinking I'll keep going until the new year, depending on how much weight I can lose I'll see which pen would suit me best.

FarriersGirl · 18/09/2024 17:16

I started in May 12st 12 and am 5ft 3. BMI 32. Slowish but steady losses, should be at 10 st and BMI 25 in the next week or so - I was 10st 2 this morning. 😃

I am at a BMI of 24.4 (started at 31). I haven’t gone higher than 7.5mg, and have another 7.5mg pen in the fridge, and then it will be maintenance.

Sarahlouise86 · 18/09/2024 21:05

Hi all!

I'm almost 7.5 weeks in and currently 23lbs down. Almost in a healthy BMI range!

I've had 2 x 2.5mg pens and I've just ordered another 2.5mg as it's still seems to be working for me and no symptoms so I'm quite happy to carry on as I am.

I suspect I will do another 2 months staying on 2.5mg then I'll be done 😊 Feeling like all my good habits have stuck, really into my exercise and managing my hunger and portion sizes well so feeling relatively confident.

Looking forward to a Christmas of wearing outfits that I love!

Well done to everyone, all sounding very positive so far.

Cocoaone · 21/09/2024 14:06

Well this doesn't bode well. Medexpress have emailed to say it's been dispatched and should be here today by 1pm. It's 2pm and the Royal Mail van has been and delivered to someone else in my road just now, but not to me. So chances of me getting the pen and it still being cold are slim to none at this point 😞
Has anyone else had similar?

Cocoaone · 21/09/2024 14:14

Just realised I've replied to the wrong thread. Ignore me!

Johaanah · 21/09/2024 19:09

This morning I weighed in at 10st exactly - so BMI is still 25.6, ideal weight is between 55-60kg, could go even lower according to bmi charts but don’t want to take it too far.

Im happy with my progress so far as I look better than I have done for 10 years.

Hedgeyhog · 22/09/2024 23:09

I was 13 stone when I started. Only in week 2 of 2.5mg. Lost 3 pounds in first week. Hoping to lose more but too early to tell.

Debs23453 · 14/10/2024 00:17

Hiya, I’m 12stone 2 lb 5ft 5 and just been declined it, should I try another website? Xx

Ozanj · 14/10/2024 01:44

I started at a BMI of 32. I was told by my GP that I would lose but she expects it to be at a slower pace than people with larger BMIs, as overreating isn’t a problem for me. I’m on week 3 of 2.5 and I’ve lost 3kg & an inch around my waist.

That’s because your BMI isn’t high enough. No one will prescribe with a BMI of lower than 30, unless you have particular health issues.

Roscky · 12/02/2025 02:38

🙂

SoFull · 12/02/2025 13:18

I started at 12 stone - not sure what the BMI is but maybe 26/27.

So far so good! I'm down to 10 stone 7 (in about 8 weeks, and considering 2.5mg did nothing much for me, that's not bad!!)

Aiming for 9 stone or just under. Think I'll be there by summer (I know weight loss will slow down the closer I get to 9stone, so last few pounds likely to take a while..).

So far - no bad side effects at all.

Can someone explain to me like I'm a 5 year old on how this actually works please?

Surely if you cut your cals to 1200 you would lose weight anyway? What does this drug do over and above that?

I can't decide whether to take the plunge and get it or not.

The drug stops you feeling hungry, so that calorie deficit is easier to achieve.

You don't feel hungry, you don't crave food, you don't have days when you accidentally break your diet, you don't think about food ALL the TIME! you can keep going for weeks/months/years without lapsing and putting all the weight back on plus more, you are able to see chocolate in the cupboard and just leave it without any willpower! You can't be bothered to drink alcohol, just don't fancy it! you don't need to stop at McDonald's when you drive past, you don't feel compelled to buy those chocolate snacks, you can focus more on other things because you are not constantly having a battle in your mind over whether or not to eat something, you are less impulsive generally so less online shopping/drinking/playing lotto/smoking or whatever your vices might be, inflammation goes down in the whole of your body so you start to look better, you get used to eating like a skinny person and you re-learn a better relationship with food ...

I could go on.....
