Please note: Mounjaro can only be taken if your BMI is above 30.

Pointers for newbies:

1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1! The instructions say prime each time you take a dose, but actually Eli Lilly have confirmed you only need to prime for the first ever use of a pen. (The video posted says every use, but this isn't true!)

2 - When injecting, hold down the button until the number goes back to 0. Once at 0, keep holding down the button and count to 5 with the needle still in so no medication is lost!

3 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system. Also below you can plot the effect of your doses.
glp1plotter.com/

4 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

5 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

6 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

7 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :

www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/15481/pil#about-medicine

8 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

9 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiYOxBhC5ARIsAIvdH51rLZBVFQxuvS7mDJooegtK8BMiyT0PwREMRHhH_1atfQIo8TEbsmkaAkA0EALw_wcB

Also there is a 5th dose in each pen. To extract it you can either try a hard twist or use an insulin needle.
medbasic.co.uk/bd-micro-fine-30g-1ml-syringes-needles

10 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day.

11 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

12 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

13 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

14 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
furthet reading about injection sites and the effects: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

16 - Abdominal side-effects are much easier to control with smaller meals. For example, having 4 small meals in the day vs 2 big meals can have an improvement in nausea and burps.

17 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

18 - Some of the places you can order from are:

MedExpress 2.5mg and 5mg. £149.99. 7.5mg £169. Use code STARTNOW. Ask for other codes if that doesn't work.
The Family Chemist 2.5mg and 5mg -£149. 7.5mg £169.
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 5mg
Bolt pharmacy 2.5mg £125, 5mg £179. 7.5mg £189
Asda 2.5mg and 5mg £184. 7.5mg £189
Boots £219 +
Chemist4U £179 +
Superdrugs

19 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

It's officially my week 11 weigh in today, but after yesterday's awful eating I gained over a pound so I'm going to take my lowest weight from this week instead!
99.1kg which makes it 11.7kg (25.5lbs) down since I started. Took my second 5mg dose this morning.

Youdontevengohere · 05/06/2024 11:03

I was absolutely starving on day 5 of my second 2.5mg dose, despite plenty of protein and water, so I have taken my 3rd dose a day early today. Panicking a bit as I’m a rule follower by nature 🙈.

MKLP22 · 05/06/2024 11:13

Has anyone suffered side effects like flu symptoms, had a head cold and aches and pains since dose 4 on sunday, wasnt sure if it was simply a head cold or side effect, proper shivery aswell?

AgathaMystery · 05/06/2024 11:34

ObsidianTree · 05/06/2024 10:40

Wow @AgathaMystery that sounds insane! Hope you kept the iPad 🤣 although they might be tracking you now!

No friend - I left it at the conference!! It was a crappy insulin and a crappy protocol and a crappy clinical trial and I wanted no part of it. No way was I being bribed into bringing that shit show to pregnant women in the U.K. 😂

NCfor24 · 05/06/2024 11:48

I've just noticed that today's weigh in makes me "overweight" and not "obese".
However I haven't been thinking about stockpiling for maintenance and I'm wondering whether I need to start doing something.
I still have a good 2st to lose I think to be top of healthy weight... I'm on 7.5mg (2 doses taken) and have a 10mg to move to. Should I be ordering again as soon as I can to start building supplies, and how do I know what dose to buy?! Money has meant I've purchased monthly on payday but I think I need to buy when my account unlocks really. I think 2 more stone is another 3 months or so realistically. What should I do?
I'm with MedExpress and don't really want to move but do I need a 2nd supplier?

ObsidianTree · 05/06/2024 12:09

@NCfor24 I think the biggest worry for everyone is being cut off when you get to a healthy BMI without having a supply to titrate down at your own pace.

If you are happy to go cold turkey then don't worry about a stockpile. But if you want to come off bit by bit, then yeah maybe start building a stash of some spare pens. I think it would be worse getting to a few lb from goal weight and not have any spare pens!

Also, medexpress let you put an order in down to BMI 23.5ish, but not sure if they will cancel orders for those that haven't got an ethnic background. So something to consider!

NCfor24 · 05/06/2024 12:13

I think I'm going to order as soon as I can each time and maybe add a few lbs to my weight!

montysma1 · 05/06/2024 12:14

Still no 12.5mg in UK yet?

I am holding off to get it. It's more economical to use for short dosing during my "weaning phase".

Getting anxious though as hoping to move away from Med Express to chase the low prices, but worrying how that will go .

ObsidianTree · 05/06/2024 12:15

Think I heard 12.5mg is out this week. But not sure. Does Bolt have any info on week expected?

HanSB · 05/06/2024 12:16

I have just noticed that Bolt have reduced their prices so hopefully others will follow suit. The Family Chemist are still cheaper, what do they need for switching over? Is it just proof of previous prescription or do they need photos as well? Does anyone know if they tell your GP? I have bought from 3 places now and don't want so many letters for the same medication on my record.

ObsidianTree · 05/06/2024 12:16

Bolt saying June for 12.5mg and 15mg. But not giving which week info @montysma1

Zava have also reduced prices. They mostly all seem to be falling into line

Soukmyfalafel · 05/06/2024 12:21

Well, I think something went a bit wrong with those shitty med ex needles (some meds leaked out of injection site after injecting). Very little suppression on 4th 7.5mg and 2 days since injecting. I am waiting for the eggy burps and they are not coming! They are amost reassuring now. Noticeably less supression from last week. I'm not using med ex needles again - they are shit. Are the Carepoint 32g 4mm any good?

I think I am going to move onto 10mg and then titrate down, as scales haven't shifted this week and will order another 7.5mg pen for emergencies in case of rapid gain.

montysma1 · 05/06/2024 12:21

@ObsidianTree yeah they were all saying this week. With the 10mg, it seemed to appear on the Monday of"the week" so I am hoping there aren't delays on the 12.5.

montysma1 · 05/06/2024 12:24

What are Zava prices now?
I was seeing 10mg for 155 with a code ( and 12.5 the same) with somebody called Curate Pharmacy.
Anybody used them?

Didn't order as waiting for 12.5 and the code probably doesn't work anymore🙄

ZAVA wanted a photo of my feet on the scales when I ordered from them. I had my handbag on my shoulder when I took the photo!

I think 12.5mg is landing next week.

As a previous / current MedExpress customer I am thinking of placing an order. I ordered a 10mg from ZAVA this week though so maybe will order it from them in a couple of weeks time. I can get 15% off from them.

Click2pharmacy have a date of w/c 10th June on their website for 12.5mg

I noticed when looking at the family chemist last night there was a 15% off if you 'subscribed'. That seemed to mean giving them your email and I don't know if it is a discount on injectables but worth looking into.

ObsidianTree · 05/06/2024 12:36

I found this on tiktok and think it's on Reddit also. Very useful. I haven't heard of half of the suppliers!

😂 I suppose if you drink like a ltrs of water in evening and then weight, then you should be a good 3-5lbs up on your morning weight ! Maybe! 😂 Or stop taking suppliments for constipation for a few days before getting the weight on scales shot!
