Please note: Mounjaro can only be taken if your BMI is above 30.

Pointers for newbies:

1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1! The instructions say prime each time you take a dose, but actually Eli Lilly have confirmed you only need to prime for the first ever use of a pen. (The video posted says every use, but this isn't true!)

2 - When injecting, hold down the button until the number goes back to 0. Once at 0, keep holding down the button and count to 5 with the needle still in so no medication is lost!

3 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system. Also below you can plot the effect of your doses.
glp1plotter.com/

4 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

5 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

6 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

7 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :

www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/15481/pil#about-medicine

8 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

9 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiYOxBhC5ARIsAIvdH51rLZBVFQxuvS7mDJooegtK8BMiyT0PwREMRHhH_1atfQIo8TEbsmkaAkA0EALw_wcB

Also there is a 5th dose in each pen. To extract it you can either try a hard twist or use an insulin needle.
medbasic.co.uk/bd-micro-fine-30g-1ml-syringes-needles

10 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day.

11 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

12 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

13 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

14 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
furthet reading about injection sites and the effects: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

16 - Abdominal side-effects are much easier to control with smaller meals. For example, having 4 small meals in the day vs 2 big meals can have an improvement in nausea and burps.

17 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

18 - Some of the places you can order from are:

MedExpress 2.5mg and 5mg. £149.99. 7.5mg £169. Use code STARTNOW. Ask for other codes if that doesn't work.
The Family Chemist 2.5mg and 5mg -£149. 7.5mg £169.
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 5mg
Bolt pharmacy 2.5mg £125, 5mg £179. 7.5mg £189
Asda 2.5mg and 5mg £184. 7.5mg £189
Boots £219 +
Chemist4U £179 +
Superdrugs

19 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

Morning. I seem to be at another stall. Have lost and gained the same 1lb in the past week and a half. Annoying.
I'm on my second pen of 5mg and I still get nausea quite badly for the first couple of days. Has anyone taken anti nausea tablets while on Mounjaro?
I have ordered my 7.5mg pen, so hopefully over the next 3 doses of this pen, the nausea settles down.

SevernWonders · 04/06/2024 07:40

Someone asked upthread for a Zava code - sorry can't see to tag on the app and the thread is so fast moving 15% REFK6MCB

BlackFriYay · 04/06/2024 07:44

I've dropped another 1.8lb overnight which takes my total loss in 8 days to about 4.5lbs. Wow. No complaints from me, I'm over the moon. It's PMS week aswell.

I'm still only on 5mg with a 7.5 in the fridge and another 7.5 ordered yesterday, at this rate I needn't go up to 7.5 at all and will be counting clicks to 5.

I'm so encouraged right now after weeks and weeks of the odd 0.5lb here and there.

That leopard print dress is gorgeous PP, gutted it wouldn't fit me as I'd have loved that. It's just my style. It's so kind of you to offer it to somebody else.

I'm going to go and trawl vinted in the hope somebody is selling one in a 12!

I know it’s a random thing to post but could anyone use a couple of summer frocks?

I’ve got 2 Hush dresses that I’ve slimmed out of (& repurchased on Vinted in size smaller).

Both are well worn & I’ve had to darn BOTH right underarms in them as they ripped due to the way I carry my rucksack. The darns are not noticeable when you wear the dresses unless you do the YMCA, in which case, people will compliment you on such a complex darn.

They are both Hush Kensington and both will fit someone who is a large 16. I have worn both up to a weight of 200lb in the past. They are comfortable, flattering, look great with trainers/heels/flips/sandals have elasticated waists and HAVE POCKETS.

One is leopard and one is green/black/white with tiny hints on pink. Both look great with a denim jacket. DM me if you’d like them/one of them & I will pop it in the post to you.

Unfortunately no good for me as I know from experience I am too much of a shortie for Hush dresses 😢 but just wanted to say what a kind thought and offer this is 🥰

omega4ever · 04/06/2024 08:07

@AgathaMystery
Ive sent you a DM about the dresses. They are both lovely.
Its so very kind of you and I can offer a new happy home to them whilst Im moving through sizes 18 -16 -14.

Ive never had a hush dress but covet them madly and am 5f5 so hopefully not too short... and I love pockets!

lurkylurk · 04/06/2024 01:43

@AgathaMystery

I'm not a customer as have plenty of smaller summer dresses that I have kept awaiting me, but for future reference for yourself at smaller sizes Apricot have a lot of similar dresses at size 10-12-14-16, I find them similar to the ones shown and VERY flattering at lowish prices.

Off to have a look. I am 157cm (5’2) so hopefully see something nice. I try not to buy any new clothes anymore (finances & environment) so will look on vinted too. I usually get an £80 Hush dress for £30 on there.

CiderJabs · 04/06/2024 09:02

I bought a couple of scamp and dude dresses on brand alley and they are amazing! Normally very pricey but with the discounts they were very reasonable. They tend to have pockets and are also quite generous in size. I have two long ones and they (just!) fit me.

DreamingofGinoclock · 04/06/2024 09:34

Hello all!

After reading through all these threads (was my sunbed reading while on holiday )I have taken the plunge and ordered from med express! Hated all the photos of myself but tried to make sure I still had some as want to be able to look back at memories with my kids!

Currently waiting for prescription to be confirmed but in the meantime have started to eat more sensibly/ focus on protein and also have re subscribed to nutricheck!

I am excited but nervous at the same time ... If it arrives in time I plan on first jab Sunday.... This will mean my posh meal in London that I have with husband will be at the end of fourth dose so hopefully will be working that I don't over indulge but enough that I can actually enjoy the food / side effects worn off!

Thank you for all the knowledge sharing it really helps to know what to expect (although I know everyone reacts slightly differently)

mammaneedsadrink · 04/06/2024 09:39

Hi all,

Today I took my 3rd 2.5mg jab. I started on 21/05 and as of today am 9.8lbs down.

21/05 - 194lbs
28/05 - 187.6lbs
04/06 - 184.4lbs

This stuff is magic ✨

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 04/06/2024 09:40

Hi everyone, mind if I join the discussion? I started with my first dose on Sunday and so far so good. Side effects so far are a dry mouth and constipation but that's all. My appetite is already reduced and I'm able to avoid snacking with ease. This is amazing and unheard of for me.

I'm almost 3lbs down already although I know that's just water but it is motivating anyway. I have 5 stone to lose so this is going to take a while.

Question for you all - how long do you wait to order your next pen?

Family143 · 04/06/2024 09:41

@susiedaisy1912 thank you. I really appreciate it.

OrangeWire · 04/06/2024 09:41

Has anybody ordered from Asda recently? I had an email saying my order had been approved at 2:30pm yesterday so I had hoped I might receive it today but I haven’t had a dispatch note so I’m guessing not. Do they give you a more specific timeframe for receiving it other than a certain date? I’m assuming it will come tomorrow but there will be a 2 hour window where nobody is home.

dmott · 04/06/2024 09:54

Weigh in 10 for me today and I lost 1.1lbs this week. Taking my total to 16.1lbs.

I've been doing 6.25ml from a 5ml pen (a full dose then whilst keeping the needle in twisting to 15 clicks and pressing down again)

I don't have the best level of appetite suppression consistently but something is making it easier to be consistent.

DragonflyRuby · 04/06/2024 09:59

Funnily enough although I was extolling the virtues and have lost 1st in my first 3 weeks, I’m 2 days post my 4th injection and I’ve had no appetite suppression at all! In fact today the food noise is back so loudly I at 2 brioche buns for breakfast, which I know is down to my hideous lack of willpower but I just felt so hungry and I’d put them in the kids lunches so they were just there! Not ideal as I should be using the jab to build better habits and I don’t want to feel like I’m going to be binge eating as soon as I come off MJ. I’m thinking I’ll take the bonus dose tonight to try and see if that kicks me in as that should mean I’ve taken just under 5mg this week. Has anyone else had this sudden drop in suppression?

Hi, I ordered my 2.5mg from Asda in May. I didn't receive anything regarding delivery so it turned up when I was in the office. Luckily they knocked on my neighbours door and left it with her. I have switched to Zava now. They use Royal Mail and I had delivery updates so knew what day it was arriving and a tracking number just in case.

Family143 · 03/06/2024 22:48

Hi I hope it's OK for me to post here. I have been reading the threads but never posted.
I am on my 5th week of 2.5 which i stayed on as I didn't want to risk side effects on my holiday. I have so far lost 9lbs. I have a health condition which means I was prescribed mounjaro with a bmi lower than 30.
It seems to be still suppressing my appetite. I just wondered if anyone has stayed on the lowest dose and not increased or whether you think the suppression will decrease and I will need a higher dose. Many of you seem really knowledgeable so I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

If it’s working for you stay on it.
I’m on week 13 and still on 2.5mg and have lost 26lbs.
Going up doesn’t mean more weight loss just more suppression.
Also since you have started with a bmi lower than 30 then you probably don’t have too much to lose and slow and steady will be good for you and easier to maintain once you have reached your goal weight.
As you are in week 5 you have probably noticed the effect wears off towards the last few day just before your next injection, that is normal and I would say use those days to test yourself as that is how you will feel once you are off mounjaro.

SylviaStrong · 04/06/2024 10:52

@mammaneedsadrink

we started on the same day at the same weight and have had the same weight losses !

Rulay · 04/06/2024 10:56

Does MJ affect your thyroid function? I've developed an eye twitch since I've started taking it and I've been quite irritable and now I'm awake most nights until 1 or 2am. This is absolutely unheard of - previously I was going to bed at 9 most nights if not before. I've started to lose weight at an even more rapid rate, I'm at the end of week 2 and I've just had a streak of losing 1lb a day for the last 5 days. Coupled with the early period this month I'm wondering is this my thyroid going into overdrive?

I thought I was going to take a sort of mid rate appetite suppressant but MJ affects way more than your appetite. This drug is wild.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 04/06/2024 11:16

@Rulay I have thyroid issues and was worrying about effects on that. I've only just started so haven't had time to experience it yet. Would be interested to hear about others.

First post for me but have read from thread 1. Currently on 10mg pen counting clicks and injecting 1/2 dose twice a week. I’m 23lb down. Started 1st April.
Have lost 3st 6lb in total over last 2 years, mainly by meds. Started on Rybelsus, then Ozempic and onto wegovy. Then had a 6month break (where I put on 13pounds😫) and now trying to get the last 13 pounds off before my mini goal of 70kg before my holiday in July.
SW 97.1 kg
SW 86.0 kg ( 1st April with Mounjaro)
CW 75.3kg
GW 70 kg (by 20th July)
UGW 63kg

I order from Asda it’s now being delivered by DPD and you will get a 1 hour tracking slot emailed through. I also expected it to be delivered the day after it was authorised, and hovered by the door all day ( husband has no idea I’m taking this) but it didn’t come, then at about 6pm I have a email saying they had my parcel and it would be delivered the following day. I was given a slot of 12.30-1330 and husband finishes work at 1 so I was panicking. Ended up driving round the local area looking for the DPD van and asking him nicely if I could have my parcel, luckily he gave me it 😂

Sorry I meant to reply to OrangeWire.

Thank you for that, I think I’ll be able to tweak our schedules if it’s an hour window and I know in advance. Hopefully it will come tomorrow then! I wanted to inject on Tues/Weds so it would be handy if it did so I don’t have to move my day.
