Please note: Mounjaro can only be taken if your BMI is above 30.

Pointers for newbies:

1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1! The instructions say prime each time you take a dose, but actually Eli Lilly have confirmed you only need to prime for the first ever use of a pen. (The video posted says every use, but this isn't true!)

2 - When injecting, hold down the button until the number goes back to 0. Once at 0, keep holding down the button and count to 5 with the needle still in so no medication is lost!

3 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system. Also below you can plot the effect of your doses.
glp1plotter.com/

4 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

5 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

6 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

7 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :

www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/15481/pil#about-medicine

8 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

9 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiYOxBhC5ARIsAIvdH51rLZBVFQxuvS7mDJooegtK8BMiyT0PwREMRHhH_1atfQIo8TEbsmkaAkA0EALw_wcB

Also there is a 5th dose in each pen. To extract it you can either try a hard twist or use an insulin needle.
medbasic.co.uk/bd-micro-fine-30g-1ml-syringes-needles

10 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day.

11 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

12 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

13 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

14 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
furthet reading about injection sites and the effects: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

16 - Abdominal side-effects are much easier to control with smaller meals. For example, having 4 small meals in the day vs 2 big meals can have an improvement in nausea and burps.

17 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

18 - Some of the places you can order from are:

MedExpress 2.5mg and 5mg. £149.99. 7.5mg £169. Use code STARTNOW. Ask for other codes if that doesn't work.
The Family Chemist 2.5mg and 5mg -£149. 7.5mg £169.
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 5mg
Bolt pharmacy 2.5mg £125, 5mg £179. 7.5mg £189
Asda 2.5mg and 5mg £184. 7.5mg £189
Boots £219 +
Chemist4U £179 +
Superdrugs

19 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

Lurker here! I’m on week 6 and just re ordering! Thanks for the Zava code I just used the most recent one posted.
REFYDWTW is my one for the next order.
Anyone know how fast they are at approving and dispatching?! And do you need proof you’ve been on the lower doses first?

Thank you for the Zava code, I’ve just used it :)

here’s my code if anyone would like to use it: REFETVDS

April88 · 03/06/2024 13:26

How much does the referral code discount at Zava?

15% off, I just got 7.5mg for £147.64 including postage

PomchiK · 03/06/2024 13:16

Hi all, I see a lot of us are switching to Zava. Does anybody know what their BMI cut off point is? I would message and ask but they've just resolved my complaint so don't want to bug them again yet 😆
I'm still only in week 3 so probably shouldn't be thinking about these things yet.

It's likely to be 25 as they are the drs who provide the prescriptions for Asda however I have emailed to ask so will update when I hear back

Choux · 03/06/2024 13:36

Yes if you are white ZAVA cur off is likely to be 25. If you are ordering every 3-4 weeks and using the 5th dose you will build up a stockpile of doses though so can continue for a little while even when they will no longer provide to you.

AgathaMystery · 03/06/2024 13:43

This is all v useful - re: Zava. I will order a 10mg from them soon I think.

I’ve now got three 7.5mg pens from MedExpress as they despatched them when I was away & I kept messaging them to say please stop sending new ones - I’m still away! Such a hassle.

I had planned the despatch with them & had it all confirmed but they just sent them
anyway. I think I will probably still use them as only 1 pen was out of the fridge in the end and it was still really quite cool when I unboxed it last night.

I can’t remember what I paid but if it was about £170 it now works out at £11 a week as I should get 15 weeks out of it.

Also, @April88 if someone uses your referral code you get 15% off your next order too. So good for at least 2 months! Maybe more if more people use your referral code? Not sure tho

You got three pens for the price of one? If so that's a result!

Choux · 03/06/2024 14:04

Can anyone see yet they have a ZAVA reward code for next month because someone has used their referral code. Am not sure where to check - or do you get an email? - but maybe it's because my order is still Pending.

Soukmyfalafel · 03/06/2024 14:23

It's interesting that Med Ex aren't doing discounts anymore. I wonder why that is. Did anyone email them?

@FlappyFish how are you reducing your dosage with the 7.5mg?

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 03/06/2024 14:28

Afternoon all, am still in a stall but hopeful it will shift soon. Hayfever has hit my like a freight train and I feel awful. Am on my third antihistamine of the day and feeling tired, not much appetite today so opted for a protein shake (whey powder, half a banana, some frozen berries and water) for lunch. Hitting my protein goals will be a struggle and I'm really not feeling like drinking much water. Problem is when I feel like this I'm no good for much other than malingering on the couch. I hate pollen, have tried the jabs plus every spray, bottle of drops, salve and tablet and nothing helps. Tried acupuncture, local honey, you name it.
This is me now until August, leaving the house leaves me in a state and exercise is out of the question. Am so glad MJ is stopping me reaching for foods in an attempt to cheer me up. My little one isn't back in school until later this week and I was supposed to take him to the local amusement park but I just can't face going out. Sorry, very self pitying post. Every year I hope I'll grow out of it and every year I get the crushing disappointment as the roof of my mouth starts to itch and my eyes run. Need some more weight to drop off to cheer me!

LatinaLondon · 03/06/2024 14:29

If anyone wondering about expiry dates, I got a 5mg pen from Med Express on Saturday and it has an expiry date of February 2025.

ObsidianTree · 03/06/2024 14:31

I have had two people use my referral code and have had 2 emails giving me discount codes for the next month. I will use one next month and try and use the other one the month after. Not sure if they will expire etc.

Soukmyfalafel · 03/06/2024 14:32

Has anyone restarted treatment with Asda if they have used them before but had a break? I'm just wondering what you had to do to restart with them again. Do you just put your current weight in, or do you have to do all of the photo malarkey again? I'm probably under their threshold now anyway. I've only checked my weight, not BMI, so not sure.

Choux · 03/06/2024 14:02

There is that. Super faff though and I really didn’t want my cat sitter, my mum and my neighbour all asking why I was receiving so many refrigerated parcels!

Cerialkiller · 03/06/2024 14:35

Not caught up on the thread so sorry to jump in straight after my holiday, does anyone have a working discount code for MedExpress? They keep pestering me to reorder. 7.5mg needing next.

ObsidianTree · 03/06/2024 14:36

Soukmyfalafel · 03/06/2024 14:23

It's interesting that Med Ex aren't doing discounts anymore. I wonder why that is. Did anyone email them?

@FlappyFish how are you reducing your dosage with the 7.5mg?

I emailed them twice. First time saying family chemist is cheaper, can they match it/offer a code. They said no.

2nd time I said they are too expensive so I may have to move away. Can they offer a coupon. They said they can give me £5 credit. So I went to Zava!

CiderJabs · 03/06/2024 14:36

I've just had an email from health express saying they are doing a starter bundle (one 2.5 and one 5) for £288 with free delivery. Worth it for those starting out or still on low doses.
I found them excellent. But for one pen they are not the cheapest (£179)- I have still used them as i liked how easy it was and the fact that I could nominate a delivery day at no extra cost.

CiderJabs · 03/06/2024 14:38

@ObsidianTree are you using the collagen powder from my protein?

@FlappyFish I think I will do the same as you. I'll prolong the 7.5 pen and just use extra wipes to make sure contamination risk is low.

Cerialkiller · 03/06/2024 14:39

AH nevermind i see they aren't doing any more. Damn i really don't want to change so soon after switching. Will do a price comparison and see if i can be asked. Might change for 10mg instead.

ObsidianTree · 03/06/2024 14:42

Hey, yes I am using the collagen powder

CiderJabs · 03/06/2024 14:43

@ObsidianTree assume you like it? I ended up ordering 4 tins of the stuff yesterday as somehow they came to £12 quid each! Now I'm fretting I won't like them and will be able to taste cow 🐮🤣

You get an email - my mil has used mine so confirm it comes within 24 hours of their order being approved

QuiltedHippo · 03/06/2024 14:44

Week 8 weigh in and down 20lbs. Into the 12 stones now!

Was planning to do 4mg again this week as don't want to risk going up for Eras tour week but got carried away clicking and did 50 clicks so 4.16mg I think. In hindsight I think I could have clicked backwards but nevermind!
