I'm expecting my first pen today. Out of interest, is there a particular day of the week you prefer doing the injection. And do you do it morning or evening? Are there any tips I need to know about when starting out? When did you first start loosing weight?

Fixesplease · 19/06/2024 08:36

Hello!

Jumping on board here as I'm due to start my first pen tomorrow, I've been prescribed it by the GP as I'm Type 2 diabetic and am struggling to control my bloody sugars and drop the weight, despite grating bloody cauliflower in place of rice!

Any tips for a first timer?

I'm anxious but positive at the same time.

Snipples · 19/06/2024 10:24

I'm 12st12.4 this morning and absolutely bloody delighted!

12lbs off in 5 weeks. Gastric side effects stopped now but might be back when I take the next jab. Small price to pay for shifting the flab.

Great losses ladies, it feels good doesn't it!

Greentrilby · 19/06/2024 12:00

@wondabar @Fixesplease the best advice I can offer is to read all the threads you can. Lots of info from people further on in their journey is so useful and covers everything from best day to inject, things to avoid, supplements and great encouragement. Good luck!

Greentrilby · 19/06/2024 12:00

@Snipples well done!

Anonymous37 · 19/06/2024 13:56

Hey everyone!
May be totally unrelated, but has any experienced acne/spots on mounjaro?
I've never suffered with them before, but since increasing to 5mg I seem to be getting a fair few across my face, including faint acne-like patches on my cheeks.

hornetgirl · 19/06/2024 15:56

Had my second dose of 5mg today, feel OK at the moment but I was very nauseous and headachy all of last week. I'm hoping that this week is a bit better or I may go back down to 2.5mg which I was tolerating and losing weight slowly.

No new spots yet but my periods are all over the place.

@Slimstar13 over 3 stone in nine weeks is a stunning result! You must be over the moon

Weigh in day for me today and two lbs off: averaging 2lbs a week loss and a total of 17lbs in six weeks which I’m happy with. Going to stick with 4mg from a 5mg pen.

starting weight 14st 4lbs
current weight 13st 1lb

My ZAVA discount code is REFK2B8W if anyone is able to use it.

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 22/06/2024 18:21

Well done @Snipples and @Greentrilby
Fabulous losses…you must be pleased.

It’s a game changer not having to deal with cravings like every other blooming diet have been on from egg and grapefruit in the 90s to WW, Cambridge and all the others that were a hard slog. For all those told that you just need to have a bit of willpower and eat/exercise well they don’t know the half of what it’s like to be a skinny person in a fat bod !!! Without my inner food monster 👿 I’m managing to start shedding the poundage - thank you Mounjaro. So far it’s been easy.

Sassenach85 · 22/06/2024 18:40

Week 5 just lost another 3 pounds!

thats 16 pounds in 5 weeks

so pleased, although the 5mg is kicking my butt today. Feel so sick!

ClonedSquare · 22/06/2024 19:00

Well done @Sassenach85 and @Greentrilby ! It's so positive to be part of a thread where people are losing weight and not getting super demoralised and quitting!

Caitlynandthecat · 24/06/2024 01:26

Is anyone from the start of the thread still going?
I'm tempted to start, I could do with some motivation from others to give me the oomph with which to do it.

Silvesterthecat · 24/06/2024 07:46

Yes 100% still motivated. I’ve now dropped over a stone and my weight now starts 2 digits lower which is amazing to see the progress.
ive also had people using my voy code last month and also now, so I know I will buy at least one more pen at a good discount and at this rate I should reach my target weight after 3 months which was my aim :)
so very happy!!
and thanks to mumsnet

Greentrilby · 24/06/2024 07:58

Me too! Very happy with my weight loss and plenty of other NSVs. The downward trend of my weight loss graph is such a boost for me and I’m now on top of the few side effects I had.

I have two summer events to attend and I’m going shopping at the weekend for a new dress and I know it won’t need to be dark, baggy or an “it will do” purchase.

Go for it!

My ZAVA discount code is REFK2B8W if anyone is able to use it.

hornetgirl · 24/06/2024 09:39

I can't decide what to do re 2.5 or 5mg?

I am very happy with the weight loss, but I feel nauseated all of the time and I am worried I may be losing too fast! Ridiculous, I know, I never thought I would say that in a million years.

Tempted to go back to 2.5mg this week and see what happens.

Upinthenightagain · 24/06/2024 09:46

6 week weigh in. I’ve lost 18 pounds. Have also had Covid so not sure if that added to the appetite suppression. I’ve struggled to eat 800 calories the last few days

ClonedSquare · 24/06/2024 11:31

Only lost 1lbs this week, which is frustrating but it's meant to be that time of the month so perhaps that's had an influence. When I look back, the last time I had a "bad" week was also the same point in my cycle.

Onwards and upwards, better than gaining!

Greentrilby · 24/06/2024 17:16

@hornetgirl I went from 2.5 to 4 as I felt a jump of double was too much. Seems to be ok and I’ll get five doses from the 5mg pen.

@Upinthenightagain thats a great few weeks. Well done.

@ClonedSquare a loss is a loss so take it as a positive and you probably will have a bigger one next week. Interesting to see a pattern developing isn’t it.

If anyone needs £5 off MedExpress I have a code: NJNRMQ

Jibberoo · 24/06/2024 21:31

So wonderful to hear so many success stories. Sadly for me this isn't working well at all. I'm down 6lbs in 6 weeks which is something but I honestly don't know how I can loose more. I don't eat anything till midday I don't eat carbs like pasta or rice and I rarely eat meat. I'm tracking my daily calories and I'm on 1200-1500. I can't seem to calm the food cravings in evening so even if I've eaten light all day evening snack brings me to 1500.
I do regular exercise but because I've always done a lot I know it's my eating that has to reduce.

Only thing I can think of is to stop the wegovy and try monjaro instead. I've got a pen and a half (got 2 deliveries as there were stock problems with 5mg so though it's best to get a second in case) but after that if it's not progressing I think I'll switch. Does anyone know how long between the 2 medications you need to leave it?

ChangeEmailAddress · 24/06/2024 22:31

Another happy mounjaro user. I'll take my 2nd 5mg on Thursday, I took 5 x 2.5mg before moving up, so in almost 6 weeks 25lbs have gone, which is a lot, but my BMI still starts with a 5 so far more to lose than most.

ClonedSquare · 24/06/2024 22:39

@Jibberoo I think the vast majority of people on here are on Mounjaro and it's widely reported that Mounjaro is more effective than Wegovy for weight loss. So I wouldn't be downhearted that you're losing less than most people here, but would make the switch if I were you.
