Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

I jab into my stomach fat!

Ghilliedu · 24/04/2024 13:25

@StaySpicy I think it’s because some people are on MJ which is 2.5mg and 5mg and some are on wegovy which is 0.25 and 0.5!

I’ve only done 2 injections, both in my belly. Might try thigh next time and see how that goes

Today is day 4 after my first jab. Definitely had more of an appetite, after that kind of ill/full feeling for the first couple of days, but I feel full quicker and have far less desire for food than before.

Example: today I've had a chocolate croissant for breakfast, now I'm in Costa for lunch where I'm having a breakfast wrap. But whereas previously I would buy something for dessert, I feel fine on the just the wrap and can easily go without something sweet. This is just unlike me!!

(Also, is anyone else a bit 🙈 when people put 2.5mg or 5mg instead of 0.25mg or 0.5mg?! No shade to anyone - my ASD just makes me go "gah!" when I see it, sorry! Everyone knows what people mean, it's just my brain can't handle it! And I hope it's okay to say this here.)

I think the Wegovy and Mounjaro doses are different.

Wegovy starts at 0.25
Mounjaro starts at 2.5

Justkeeprollingalong · 24/04/2024 14:03

Did my first jab today. I was quite nervous about it but the needle was tiny and it didn't hurt at all.

Humptydumpty85 · 24/04/2024 14:04

Mine has arrived!! Feeling quite nervous about injecting! Have never injected myself before and no idea how hard I need to push the needle in etc.
I'm starting at 12st 8 and hoping to get below 10st - fingers crossed this is the thing that works.

PrimalLass · 24/04/2024 14:55

You won't even feel it - honest. The needle is tiny so I push it in all the way.

Not very hard as it’s a small and fine needle and goes in easily so you shouldn’t need to apply a lot of pressure ! Good luck I was so nervous to do my first jab but it’s so easy. If you are a bit funny about it maybe try and have a bit of fruit or a square of chocolate after as I felt a bit faint the first time probably because I got a bit worked up over it!

Humptydumpty85 · 24/04/2024 15:18

@MendaciousMabel thank you! I'm fine with needles generally, but not loving the thought of this!

sweetpickle2 · 24/04/2024 16:00

The needle is tiny, I was nervous but honestly thought it wasn't in even though it was!

I inject into my stomach, as I understand that is the quickest place to work. I think the further away you get from the stomach the longest it takes to get into your system.

Thank you so much! I didn't know so this is very helpful for my brain! 😆

I was nervous after having issues with my daily blood thinning injections after giving birth, which I had issues with. But honestly, this was just fine and I only felt a slight sting that lasted maybe 5 or 10 seconds.

I did mine in my thigh but might try my stomach on Saturday.

Question - how similar is Mounjaro to Saxenda and Wegovy? I've tried both of them and for some reason, neither had any effect on my appetite, but I also didn't experience any side effects with either. Both bought from reputable sources so definitely not fake!

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 24/04/2024 16:26

@MeAndMounjaro that was exactly it. Like there was a lid. And I've just got home from work and normally raid the cupboards but, nope, I don't need to. I stood there staring at them and thought "well, this is odd". Mind you, I had had some Nairns oatcakes just before leaving work.
If this does start suppressing my appetite sufficiently and I am making myself eat, then I need to be mindful of eating green veg &
protein. My default is always carbs, especially toast.

I absolutely promise this is not goady question, I'm just really intrigued as to the mindset of other people who are doing this.
Having resorted to really quite drastic action, and spent a lot of money on these drugs to try and lose weight why would you then breakfast on a chocolate croissant which would be typically over 400 cal? As far as I understand it these injections are not a magic bullet, they're supposed to help suppress your appetite and subdue cravings but you won't magically lose weight with the same diet and lifestyle.
You have to make healthy and informed choices . Honestly not a judgemental question. I'm just really baffled.

Hi all, I’m going to order MJ tomorrow off VOY, but I’m away the weekend - if it arrives before I’m back will it be ok or does it need to be kept in the fridge?

It comes in insulated packaging with an ice pack but it won’t keep it cool all weekend. Can anyone take it in for you and put the whole thing in the fridge? You can just tell them it’s medication - lots of drugs have to be refrigerated.

I had a bad day today.

Unfortunately, the injections don't change my emotional response.

Justkeeprollingalong · 24/04/2024 18:14

I'm really sorry you've had a bad day.

StaySpicy · 24/04/2024 18:19

Thanks. I take sertraline but sometimes it doesn't touch how I feel. I've been doing well with the healthier eating since I started Wegovy on Saturday, but today I'm just taking it as a win that I didn't have dessert earlier!

Justkeeprollingalong · 24/04/2024 18:20

I am really sorry you've had a bad day and I was going to leave it at that but I'm going to say you had the croissant for breakfast not dinner. We've all got to help ourselves or we are just wasting our time and money and will feel even more despondent at the end of the experience.

Justkeeprollingalong · 24/04/2024 18:21

Sorry cross post. Keep on trying.

StaySpicy · 24/04/2024 18:25

Oh, I always keep trying. I'm not going to beat myself up about a croissant.

I've seen on other threads that people who didn't have any success with weegovy, mounjaro did work for them. It's a different drug and works not only on the stomach/gastric emptying, but also on the brain. It helps quiet food noise and emotional eating.

Thank you 😘
My DH will be here but not on Saturday so I may just order it on Monday to arrive next week to be on the safe side!
