Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

Still researching and finding out lots of information on this thread. A few questions
(1) what is better for weightloss? Ozempic or Mounjara?
(2) what determines when you go up to .5mg from .25mg dosag
(3) did you tell your GP you were taking it?
(4) Any recommendations for some great accurate weighing scales?

wondabar · 30/05/2024 01:06

And also is it easy to swop and change suppliers for when good discounts come up?

I'm feeling a bit disheartened as I seem to be losing so much slower than everyone else despite being heavier than most. I wonder if it's because I'm ancient and post-menopausal
I have done 3 weeks on MJ 2.5mg and, despite not eating nearly as much as usual, have only lost about 6lb although the plus is that I have had very few side-effects. Will weigh again tomorrow and hope for more
I think I just need to get myself better organised, meal plan, make sure I drink the water and get more protein and fibre
Is anyone using any particular meal plans? I've run out of inspiration...

I'm just on week 9 and have just started 7.5...and have just lost 15lbs.
I know lots of people will say that's good but I'm hardly eating anything.
I, too, am post menopausal and older 😂😂

Thought I’d hop and give my two penneth!

  1. I’ve only tried Wegovy (which is Ozempic) and I’m finding it good for weight loss - it’s like a helping hand but you still have to do the work (ie tracking foods, avoiding junk, drinking lots of water etc).
  2. When you’re prescribed they’ll give you a dosage plan that’s basically that you take the 0.25 for 4 weeks, then move up to 0.5 for 4 weeks, then move up to 1mg and so on. However, if you have bad side effects then it’s best to stay on the dose you’re on for longer until you adjust. Personally, I’ve been lucky so have been following the 4 weekly schedule so far.
  3. I ordered through Asda who ask you for your doctors details but I haven’t rang my docs to say I’m on it. Tbh, the way they are of late, I doubt they’d care lol.
  4. I’m afraid I don’t have an answer to this but am interested to hear others recs as mine are pretty busted 🥴

Hope some of this helps!

I've just finished week 5 and total loss is now 19lbs. I'm really happy with that! It has been eye opening to see just how little I need to eat to lose weight though and explains why I wasn't losing before. I've not been accurately tracking but keeping a rough track of calories and would say I'm at about 800 per day.

Starting to think about how I'll maintain the loss when I stop taking the medication, I'm guessing I'd need to stick to about 1200 calories a day to maintain. Anyone else planning ahead to how they'll keep the weight off longer term?

QueenOfHiraeth · 30/05/2024 18:11

@wondabar There seem to be 2 schools of thought on increasing dose. One is to work up every 4 weeks as @overwhelmathon said as long as you tolerate it. The other is to stay on each dose as long as the appetite suppression lasts.
Both work so it is up to you
@freshstart9 I was away for a weekend just after mine arrived so waited and started it on the Monday just in case of side effects

TreeHuggerMum1 · 30/05/2024 21:38

Those of you that had upset tummy side effect after your first dose, did you get it with your second dose? I’m so nervous to take my second dose after the awful tummy issues I had on day 1….

Wegovygirl · 31/05/2024 07:08

So yesterday I took my 4th 0.25 wegovy jab and went back to Boots online to order the 0.5 to be told they didn’t have any and I had to stay on the 0.25! What do I do???

Change suppliers, just pick a new one and do the consultation again

Sassenach85 · 31/05/2024 18:11

I’m due my 3rd 2.5 jab tonight and my 5 pen is being delivered in 1hr. I can track it on DPD.

i have to say I’ve found Asda really professional and reliable so far.

I do have a question for those further along than me though!

after I have eaten a small amount I feel so full. I’m finding feelings of disappointment in myself and shame as if I have binged but need to remind myself I haven’t. I can’t wait for the full up feeling to pass so that this uncomfortable shameful feeling goes away. Does anyone else get this?

yorkypuds · 31/05/2024 20:00

Hi,
I wondered if anyone had similar?
I've taken 2 doses of 5mg and I'm finding the appetite suppression and food noise suppression is much less than it was when I started on 2.5mg. Apart from being cold, I don't feel much different at all, where as for the first 3 weeks, I had no interest in eating at all.
I'm wondering if it is a dud batch or something. It is so noticeably different to being on 2.5mg.
I've not lost any weight for 2 weeks either!

GreyFinch · 31/05/2024 20:10

@yorkypuds same! I took my 2nd dose on Tuesday evening, I’ve stalled these past 2 weeks but put it down to time of the month. My appetite suppression has been a lot less than the 2.5 but again I just thought it was hormonal. I feel really poorly today with a migraine but unsure of whether this is a side effect of the jab or again hormonal

ShrinkingDaffodil · 01/06/2024 05:26

Hi - does anyone have a link to where it tells you how many blocks to get 2.5mg from a 5mg mounjaro pen? I d tried google but can’t find anything 😭

I've actually gained half a pound today which could be hormonal! I've paid for it so I will carry on. I just wanted more!
In regard to migraines, I've found it has really helped mine. I've not had one since I started and it has been a very stressful month!

@ShrinkingDaffodil I've screenshot this from an earlier thread which tells you how many clicks...

I've had my second dose of 5 mg ofMounjaro. Anyone know how to cure sulphur burps? I've had them now for two days for the first time and they're disgusting.

imnottoofussed · 01/06/2024 17:20

After someone else advising I've just started taking peppermint oil capsules for the sulphur burps. Only taken my first capsule today and each little burp tastes of peppermint.

Justkeeprollingalong · 01/06/2024 20:26

Thanks Peppermint is far preferable to rotten eggs!

Snipples · 01/06/2024 22:03

This is such a great tip. Off to order some now. I've not had any sulphuric issues so far but going up to 0.5mg shortly and that seems to be when they kick in.

tinpeach · 03/06/2024 17:51

I've also realised my migraines have reduced - wonder if it's due to not eating as much.

InspectorGidget · 04/06/2024 18:55

Hi.

I tried to use the bonus dose in my first pen today but despite trying to twist it nothing came out (and wasted a needle trying!).

I've used a 1ml insulin needle and was about 2/3 full. Is that enough to class a dose or should I aim to step up to the 5ml pen a day or two early?

I'm still only 8lb down in a month so hoping the 5ml marks the start of some better losses.

DreamingofGinoclock · 04/06/2024 19:01

Hello have followed lots of these threads... decided to take the plunge ....I ordered from Med express last night and uploaded pics first thing this morning...account is still awaiting prescription...how long did people take to get approved by med express?

The website does say due to demand it could be 1-2 days but I'm impatient 😂

A full dose is 0.6ml so you may be about right
