Mounjaro and wegovy newbies April 2024

Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

@Dvh149 same here, can only eat about ⅓ or ¼ of normal (obviously too big) portions.

I had my first 5mg yesterday. I am okay but feeling really really cold again!

Hello all, I took my first 2.5mg dose yesterday and have no appetite at all today which is good in some ways but worrying in others! Also have a headache and generally feeling a bit weak/nauseous...is this normal?
When I prepared the injection I seemed to have to turn it a long way to get to the '1' indicator - now worried that I've had too much and that's why I feel a bit rough. Silly I know...

@hopelessbusiness your side effects sound very normal! And yes, it takes 60 clicks to get to the correct dose, when I did my first injection I thought I was doing it wrong!

@Ghilliedu thank you for the reassurance! How long can I expect to feel like this, do you think?

@hopelessbusiness it completely depends. Some people it lasts a couple of days, others longer. When I was on 2.5mg my side effects only ever lasted a couple of days and then I was fine. I’ve started moving up the doses now and it definitely lasts a bit longer now

Hi everyone! I thought I'd join as I've finally plucked up the courage to start on weight loss injections. I went with Asda in the end as with Boots the only option was to pick up my order in store and I didn't want to do that... With Asda I had to send in a photo and nearly gave up on the whole thing as I felt so embarrassed but decided to just do it. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back to see whether you have been successful about getting the injection?

I decided to go with wegovy over mounjaro simply because wegovy seems to have been around longer and has more long-term data. Not sure if I should have gone with mounjaro though as it seems most on these threads are on that rather than wegovy...

I've been tracking on MFP: getting between 90 and 100g of protein a day, averaging about 1500 calories. Seemed to have way more symptoms today but I ate more fatty foods and drank alcohol yesterday, so I think it's true what they say about sticking to leafy green veg and bland food in small regular meals. Absolutely didn't do that yesterday and might not be a coincidence I had terrible headaches, diarrhea and the shivers today.

I'm incredibly lethargic, hoping to perk up next week. I'm a single parent taking two under 5s camping in the pouring ran. Pray for me.

I was low on fibre today and just had some beans on toast. Hoping that'll help some of the symptoms!

I took my first dose on Thursday morning and felt rough for about 48 hours...cold, nauseous and tired. Then it lifted as suddenly as it started.

Usually within about 24hours but may be slower on the weekend - then they will hopefully dispatch Monday morning for you! X

Has anyone travelled yet with their pen? I’m travelling to the US on Monday and have the prescription from the pharmacy etc in case I get asked. Just wondering the best way to store it? I’ve got an ice pack in the freezer, will that suffice in a plastic bag? Or anyone got any better tips?

Is there a best time of day to inject when I get my first delivery?

Word to the wise - do not drink a few too many wines and then finish the night off with a kebab! Holy hell I feel like death, sickness, bad belly but definitely not a hangover. Seen every hour of the night, never again 🤮

@freshstart9 Monday is a bank holiday I think so could be Tuesday before they get it sent out to you, then you should get it on Wednesday

Morning everyone

Day 4 today and I am feeling much more settled. The panic has calmed down a bit and the nausea has gone away I feel on much more of an even keel, just like a slightly less hungry and food obsessed version of myself rather than a whole new me who can't eat anything without heaving.

Mid week weigh in - I've lost 3lb since Thursday so gearing up for a decent loss this first week hopefully!

I've had a bit of a change in mind this morning. At first I woke up in a panic regretting requesting weight loss injections and thought 'what have I done'. But now I'm feeling more settled in my decision, but I have decided to cancel my order for wegovy and go for mounjaro.

@GreyFinch gosh I know what you mean. I had a takeaway on Friday (not a big portion) and have been horrendous on the toilet ever since. I've not had any of these effects from any other food so suspect greasy food does not agree with wegovy!

Finally had my first injection of 2.5mg, I thought it might hurt or sting a little but I’m pleasantly surprised that I didn’t feel it at all.

I’ve been really good since I made the decision to order it and have lost 9lbs, I know it’s all water weight but it’s a nice boost and my jeans don’t feel like they are cutting me in half!

It’s been hard relying purely on willpower and a couple of days I’ve eaten more than I wanted as I couldn’t stop thinking about food. Hopefully the Mounjaro will reduce the food noise and I can get back into good eating habits with no snacking.

Evening everyone, Ive been sitting on the sideline while reading all the thread on Mounjaro, so I thought I would give any info I have.

I started Saxenda about 12 months ago, used it for a few months (weightloss was ok but not great) I had no side effects what so ever, then it was like gold dust to get so after a break I switched to Wegovy, I was on this for 2 months and didn't have any side effects but I also didn't lose a single pound so I came off it.
In January I heard about Mounjaro and did some research and decided to try it, well what can I say, this is the best thing since sliced bread.
I have just finished my 3rd pen, started 2.5 then onto 5 then onto 7.5.
The only side effect I have had is extreme tiredness, I literally have no appetite what so ever, I am having a slimfast shake for breakfast to get something in. I also do eat whatever I want ( I do eat pretty healthy anyway) but I just cannot eat much of it and I have no desire to have any snacks.
I am still drinking my diet drinks as normal and I am not a lover of water.
Yes I have drank alcohol with it as I have had a lot of parties over the last 6 weeks, but I just don't over indulge.
I was not a huge person anyway, starting weight was 11.4 but I am short and only 5.2".
I am on high cholesterol and high blood pressure tablets also and my bmi was high.
Today I have weighed myself and I am 9 stone 13lb.( 3 months on the pen so 1 stone 5lb weightloss) I have not been this weight for over 20 years, It does however still mean that my bmi is over 25. I have my next pen coming and I have decided to stay with 7.5mg as I don't think I could cope with anymore tiredness if I went up to 10mg
I have bought all my prescriptions from pharmacy2u and you can regularly find discount codes online, and sometimes they email you promo codes.

I hope this helps anyone who is sitting on the fence, and feel free to ask me any questions if you have any.

Well, I went to the festival the day after upping my dose to 0.5. I dared to have a couple of vodkas to warm me up. I felt fine - at first. Then nausea hit in the middle of the night. Eventually it passed and nothing came up. Changed to white claws the next day and felt much better.
No food felt particularly tempting whereas in the past I would be at the burger & chips stand. I had a couple of my sons chips, didn't really fancy anything. For once I'm not scared to weigh myself after an event knowing i've not binged.

@Snipples ive had the odd glass of wine OR a couple of slices of pizza and I’ve been absolutely fine so I’m assuming in moderation is fine but absolutely have learned my mistake and it will not be happening again! I’ve felt rotten all day

I started yesterday evening. Don't feel any different yet.
