Starting this thread for all the newbies who are just starting out.

I'm going to be taking mounjaro.
Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

anyone switched from Wegovy without side effects to Mountjaro and still not had any aside effects? Or found mountjaro a lot more
effective? I’m currently on Wegovy 0.5 but it’s nowhere near as effective as first couple weeks, so wondering whether a change would go back to being more effective, but want to minimise side effect risks?

You don’t believe in the laws of physics?! 🤨

I was trying to be glib. I don't find calories helpful personally and I don't think they necessary encourage healthy eating either. Low calories food often isn't nutritionally healthy (and tastes awful!) imo.

I'm hungry even though I have abundant energy (in the form of fat) available to me, that suggests something is wrong with me or the food I'm eating, so I choose to focus on that rather then a particular number.

Calories are physics but bodies are biology. How our bodies react to and use particular food items can vary wildly from person to person. Calories are a rough guide that works for lots of people. But counting them simply won't work for everyone.

Thank you yes this. It's a simplification that works for lots of people but not for me.

I’m so pleased. At the end of week one I’ve lost 4lbs. It took me 4 months last year to lose that and then I gained it all back and added another 4lbs on top of it in 2 months over Christmas.

It is very liberating not to be constantly trying to resist eating.

Ghilliedu · 27/04/2024 10:41

End of week 2 on 2.5 and I lost 3lbs this week. Delighted with that!

I’ve already taken my 3rd dose a day early because the effects were definitely wearing off and I’m also trying to build up to the 5mg but kept my weigh in day the same

SW 223.8
CW 216.2

I’d never have got to that in 2 weeks on my own!

Sayingitstraight · 27/04/2024 12:24

Sorry to jump in, I've ordered Mounjaro today, do you recommend taking the shot in the evening before bed? What diet plan are you all following? I have alot to lose 😪

SilkySuky · 27/04/2024 12:51

Hi everyone, have been on rybelsus ( tablet semaglutide) for just over a year and apparently the prescribing chemist is no longer allowed to give it out to non diabetic patients, and they are encouraging existing users to switch to mounjaro. I can't find much about this on line has anyone here made the change from one form to the other? TIA

GreyFinch · 27/04/2024 13:15

I started taking MJ 2.5mg on Wednesday and I would say I’m starting to not feel hungry but I’m still getting the ‘food noise’. Where I’m still thinking about what to eat but I’m having to really remember to be in tune with my body and then realise I don’t have a hunger feeling at all. Anyone else the same?

Cerialkiller · 27/04/2024 13:42

Woke up (day 2) feeling fine. Forced myself to eat and immediately felt nauseous. I think it's the shear amount of indigestion and trapped wind, very burpy and lots of cramp like pains at the bottom of my ribcage and lower. I didn't know if it was the eating today or the not eating yesterday or just how it's working for me.

Had a small lunch and a tummy massage and feeling significantly better. The full feeling is less but still not feeling at my normal (high) appetite level.

EmilyTjP · 27/04/2024 14:50

I’ve just taken my first shot of Mounjaro!

My history
Took Oxempic in 2022 for roughly 5 months and lost 2 stone. Had a break and then restarted Ozempic but I didn’t lose any weight. Then the shortage happened. A year later I tried Weogvy and felt awful on it! Felt really ill and didn’t lose any weight on that either.

I’ve gained the 2 stone back again now and I feel desperate to give weight loss drugs another try because I can’t seem to lose weight in the ways I previously could.

I thought I’d try Mounjaro as it has a different ingredient to the other two but I’ve been quite nervous because of how awful I felt on Weogvy. I really hope it doesn’t feel as bad.

So, wish me luck 😬🤞🏼

StaySpicy · 27/04/2024 15:12

I took my second 0.25mg dose a day early, last night. I feel very little different, except perhaps slightly less food noise. I think this discomfort I was feeling last weekend was due to the sickness I had earlier in the week and nothing to do with the Wegovy. I am 2lbs down, though!

I took mine in the evening, just because that's when I had time without the kids around to read the instructions and do it! I don't think it really matters though.

I'm only on day 3, just eating what I want at the moment (diet is reasonably healthy anyway) and planning to reassess after my first weigh in to see if I need to calorie count/cut carbs or whatever. Good luck!

Sleepdeprived42long · 27/04/2024 16:38

Hi everyone, new here and took my first dose of Mounjaro on Wednesday. I already feel like the food noise is a lot less!

I have PCOS so find it really hard to lose weight and not crave sugar! I also have chronic fatigue which makes exercise trickier! Not a great combination!

sw: 78kg
gw: 60kg

I was on Ozempic for 4 months last Spring and lost about 15kg. Unfortunately when I came off it, I did put it back on again. I’m wondering whether I might need to take a maintenance dose at some point just to help cut out the food noise. Not sure if anyone in similar position has any advice about that?

Also on Ozempic I was able to get a couple of extra doses by counting the clicks-is it the same on Mounjaro?

I usually take mine mid morning on a Saturday as that’s when I have some time to myself. I don’t think it makes a difference though.

I’m not following a diet as such, just trying to eat healthier options but will still have a treat if I want it - and can manage it which sometimes I can’t! I think MJ just makes it easier to eat smaller portions and control the snacking which was always my problem

ThirdStorm · 27/04/2024 16:50

I took first dose of MJ yesterday (Friday 26 April). All very straightforward following the instructions despite my apprehension. I lost my appetite within a few hours. I follow keto so keeping things quite bland and low carb. I’ve eaten almonds today for extra fibre but I’ve struggled to eat. No appetite whatsoever. I’m up to just 400 calories today (which I’m tracking in fitness pal so I can keep an eye on protein, I wouldn’t normally bother). I’ve been unusually burpy and I’ve felt cold but I’m peri so overheated last night. Keto can be very effective but I needed help with the focus which is why I picked MJ.

TwinsetandpearlsMN · 27/04/2024 17:28

I started on Tuesday. I have not had any side effects other than not wanting to eat. I have lost 1/2 stone since Tuesday

Can I ask about the supplements people are taking?

Sw 18 stone 1
Cw 17 stone 8
Gw 10 stone

I am also really cold. I assumed it was just the crazy weather but it could be a side effect

overwhelmathon · 27/04/2024 18:17

Ohhh guys I’m having a wobble, very much in an F IT ALL headspace today. Rainy weather, tough day with the kids, and my period is due in a couple of days. My husband works away Monday to Friday so the weekends are always a tad indulgent, which I factored into my weekly calories, but MY GOD today I could just eat and eat. It’s my 4th jab tomorrow morning as well, so I always feel the hungry little voice in my head come back on a Saturday.

I’ve had 1750 calories today and beating myself up for it. I went over yesterday too (1968, argh!). I know I’m trying to be marathon not a sprint about it but the PMS is raging and I feel poop.

schoolie258 · 27/04/2024 18:57

I've had the dreaded sulphur burps today 😅

This is exactly my story too! Although when I tried Wegovy it just didn't work

I'm now on MJ and if I'm really truthful it's blooming slow going!! I'm on week six and have only lost 8lbs! After 6 weeks on Ozempic I'd lost over a stone.
The appetite suppression just isn't kicking in at all...I'm not overeating though and alcohol is giving me a huge headache but the weight just isn't shifting, so I think this is going to be a long journey!

olympicsrock · 27/04/2024 21:49

@ThirdStorm . I was exactly the same at the beginning . 2 weeks in now. The burping will settle . Still feeling chilly though

tinpeach · 27/04/2024 22:01

Has anyone had sinus pain whilst taking Wegovy? Had my first injection on Thursday - only bad side effect is that my face feels like i'm getting sinusitis - maybe just a coincidence.

Cici1988 · 27/04/2024 23:26

I am on my first week of taking mj and going on holiday on Friday for the bh weekend where I know I’ll be out. I’m not planning on indulging like crazy but probably will have a few drinks. What’s everyone’s experience been like with alcohol? Have you still managed to lose?

I do keto too! I read that it's a good way to maximise the benefits and hopefully in a few days the keto appetite suppressant will kick in on top of the effects of MJ.

I'm on day 3 now. Day one I felt fine but full to the point of not wanting to eat anything. Probably ate a couple of spoons of food all day.

Yesterday I had awful painful trapped air in the morning but this settled by mid day and ate relatively normally but only small meals. Had one of my favourite meals last night. Lamb kebab, yogurt cucumber dip, tomato, aubergine relish and green salad. I probably ate half what I normally do and the rest is in the fridge.

Partially I've been deliberately eat less because I'm wary of some of the gastro issues I've read on here but also was perfectly satisfied and felt like I've had twice as much. Also wary because of the high fat I'm eating and my body reacting to that, but presently surprised about lack of gut symptoms.

Woke up still feeling satisfied and full this morning, I don't usually eat breakfast so will skip again. Plan to do first weigh in tomorrow to get first accurate based line after avoiding it for the last week.

ThirdStorm · 28/04/2024 08:54

@Cerialkiller ha! That’s one of my favourites too (Lidl mint lamb kebabs are in stock again hurrah) which I serve with tzatziki and salad. You could put that down in front of me right now and I’d struggle to eat it, although like you I don’t generally bother with breakfast. My appetite is non existent. I wouldn’t be in ketosis yet either so it’s definitely the effects of MJ.
