An Instagram I’m following is brittsgettingfit_ she’s American and been on mounjaro for months. She’s using it as a tool to support her healthy eating/gym.

MuthaHubbard · 23/03/2024 08:51

I adore Ferreros so stopping at two is epic for me! And well done @ChristmasLightsLover for getting out walking, it's a massively underrated tool for health and fitness but also mentally. I used to run a lot but since dodgy knee, I walk a lot instead.
Minor update - 1 black coffee + 1 💩 = 1lb off 😁
15lbs in total now. Extracted the extra mj ready for injection tonight.

peachgreen · 23/03/2024 09:03

Sorry @OoohLovelySlippers I misread your post – when you said “new customer” I assumed this was the start of your weight loss journey as a whole (and I think we can all agree that weight loss drugs aren’t suitable for those who start from a BMI that is so close to the “normal” range). Of course I understand the therapeutic importance of staying on it when you’ve come from an obese BMI. Apologies for the misread!

Morning all,

4th weigh in for me. I have lost 3lbs this week.(5lbs loss if I count the Disney gain re-lost)

Happy with that loss and hope I can lose 2/3lbs a week. That would be perfect.

So that makes it 9lbs loss for the month.
Diet wise I have been sticking to 1200-1500 kcals a day and in later part of week drinking 3ltrs water a day.

I have found the 5mg more effective this week with not feeling hungry and filling up more quickly. But the thought of eating doesn't make me feel ill. I suppose that's a good thing as I want to learn to control myself with what I pick to eat.

SW Wegovy 16st 6lbs
SW Mounjaro 16st 3lbs
CW 15st 8lbs

I saw Second Nature mentioned a few times. I tried Second Nature a while ago and thought it was pretty rubbish. You get assigned an advisor in your group and the one I had seemed to just be writing stuff out from a manual and it felt like talking to a chat bot at times. It definitely did not feel like a personal service, and there was very little engagement from the people in my group either. It was such a waste of time.

zaffa · 23/03/2024 09:59

Can I ask about electrolytes? I see lots of people mentioning them but I don't know anything about them - can anyone tell me the benefit of taking them?

FlappyFish · 23/03/2024 10:21

Electrolytes are basically rehydration salts. Mounjaro makes me really thirsty. By taking them I’m essentially trying to stop my body flushing out all the vitamins and minerals.

I've been using dioralyte 😁

Heading into week 5 and weigh in this morning

SW 229lbs
CW 217 lbs

No change from last week- stayed the same.

I’m very happy with this as I was getting concerned about my rapid weight loss of 12lbs in 3 weeks so pleased to see it stabilising and slowing down somewhat. I’m confident I will have a small loss next week.

I’m determined not to lose weight (ie muscle) too quickly and avoid the gaunt face look which can result from rapid weight loss. It’s my greatest fear to age 10 years after shedding all this weight- I want to look slim AND healthy!

Namechange25793 · 23/03/2024 11:10

@zaffa I’m not using electrolytes but I’m being strict about eating my 1,470 calories per day and ensuring nutritional balance. I’m drinking more water but not too much as this can dilute and flush out the good stuff. I don’t feel I need electrolytes.

I’m taking a multivitamin and magnesium tablet. I think if you’re doing a very low calorie diet (800/1000) electrolytes probably a good idea. But there is a risk of getting “ozempic” face and muscle wastage on these weight loss medications so go in with your eyes open to the risks of ultra low cal (and perhaps time limit it like the fast 800).

OoohLovelySlippers · 23/03/2024 11:18

@peachgreen no worries, apology accepted! :-)

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 23/03/2024 12:40

Apologies if this has been covered, has anyone moved providers going up a pen? I'm nearly ready for my second pen and Chemist4U has been easy to order from but saving some cash be would be good.

Weighing up just sticking with them for ease with looking to save some pennies!

Femeia · 23/03/2024 13:00

Week 4 weigh in today:

SW Jan 2023 249lbs
SW Mounjaro 212lbs
CW week 4 206.8lbs

Not exactly brilliant for the time elapsed and expense but I'm hoping that the 5mg injections which I started today will help.

Thanks. I'm not counting calories but I am low carbing, which I've never been able to do before because I usually crave carbs. Sadly though bread especially always makes me so bloated and being able to just not eat it is making me feel amazing.
I don't know if I'm supposed to take electrolytes (I thought it was something to take if you were a super exerciser and that I am not 😂) but I do drink a lot of water anyway.
I'm just wondering if I should be taking them - so drinking too much water could be flushing out any vitamins from the healthy food I'm eating and electrolytes will stop it doing that - or will they stop me drinking so much water?
Sorry for so many questions I tried to Google and it just covered drinking them in energy drinks like lucozade and recommended them after workouts but I don't want to miss out on something I need 😩 x

RagzRebooted · 23/03/2024 14:48

You'll know if you need electrolytes if you get a headache or feel a bit rubbish.

I've not been hungry today but had a protein yogurt for breakfast and a couple of boiled eggs with mayo for lunch. Making morrocan lentils and veg stew for dinner, which I'll serve with sausages (DH and DS1 wanted meat and I need the protein/calories) and either pittas or brown rice.
Was great not to wake up craving my usual weekend breakfast of peanut butter on toast.
I'm struggling my way through my first litre of water, but I've had 4 black coffees.

DH home from work yesterday (he's away during the week) and I haven't told him yet, just that I'm trying to cut down (didn't have wine). Weirdly, he mentioned GLP1 randomly last night, in the context of he was reading something about it being in certain foods and how it was the thing in the weight loss drug and maybe he should eat more of the foods with it in.
Could have been a good time to bring it up, but it kinda felt a bit weird to say 'oh, funny you mentioned that...'.
I may actually use it as an excuse to have looked into it and decided to try it and tell him next weekend, then it was his idea!

FirstSpringSiskin · 23/03/2024 15:14

ObsidianTree · 22/03/2024 21:13

I was just checking my fitbit app and was just randomly looking at my resting heart rate and it's gone up about 10bpm since starting mounjaro! How weird! Hope it's not a bad thing!

Yes! I noticed the same a few days ago. It concerns me

Think someone said it was a known side effect. I was thinking it might be why we lose more than we would do without using weight loss drug. As usually a faster heart beat means burning more calories /fat etc.

I'm working the night shift all weekend and today has been a revelation for me.
Usually I'm looking to eat all the carbs when I'm tired from a night shift but today no cravings at all and not particularly hungry.
I've had a protein shake a kitkat and a coffee and we're having steak and chips later as I've the calories spare.
I'm loving this so far

@zaffa

Mounjaro can make you thirsty and between that and eating less (we get quite a lot of our moisture from food!) you may find yourself drinking more water. This is not always a good thing as it can dilute our cell salts too much and electrolytes can help replace them. So, if you are drinking a lot of water or sweating a lot it is a good idea to take some.

Eating less food also means we miss out on enough magnesium and potassium from our food. Your body has a certain minimum need for these per day and again electrolytes can help replenish them.

Electrolytes will NOT stop you from flushing out vitamins however so, again if you are drinking more liquids it might be an idea to take a multi-vitamin to replace some of the water soluble vitamins like vitamin C and the B vitamins. It is also a good idea to take one when dieting so that eating a bit less doesn't mean you're missing out on too many nutrients.

Hope that helps!

You might want to up the fibre though, so you don't get the dreaded blockages! Maybe add some wholegrain oats to your protein shake when you blend it and lots of veggies with the steak and chips. If you're making the chips, leave the skin on, it all helps!

lurkylurk · 23/03/2024 17:27

I sound like a nutrition bot!

zaffa · 23/03/2024 17:31

Thanks @lurkylurk that's really helpful! I've also dropped an email to the asda doctor asking if they recommend taking them at this stage.
I'm taking a multivitamin already (with added zinc to avoid any hair loss as recommended by my doctor after I freaked out after covid the first time and a lot of my hair fell out 😩) and I will keep in mind the electrolytes and consider again when I'm on a higher dose (currently I think I'm probably still getting enough salt and nutrition from my diet but who knows what the future holds).

Yay , yay ,yay
I have now lost 7.3kg (16 lb) in 17 days. I started week 4 on the 2.5mg on Wednesday. So will be starting 5 mg next week.
Just on a few not so good points ; Last week was a bit disappointing as I sort of plateaued. Also I have been fatigued this week. Has anybody been having very vivid dreams ?
So I encourage everyone to stick with it. Also I know it is expensive but if you totalled up all you were spending on snacks, treats, fast food and boozy nights it would be more than the cost of this miracle called Mounjaro! 🏃‍♀️😍

I’ve been addicted to fizzy drinks for most of my adult life. And since I’ve been taking MJ I’ve had a 2 litre bottle of 7Up in the fridge that is not even 3/4 finished. I don’t even crave carbonated drinks anymore. In fact I'm going to throw it away.

Like you I loved my fizzy drinks. Switch to fizzy water. It is a life saver. Try Costco they have this massive pack which is quite cheap

Yes. I started with Boots @ £219. I have gone with MedExpress @ £ 159 a £60 saving ! They are however strict at ensuring I am kosher and are asking the right questions. I hopefully will be receiving the 5mg order on Monday.
