I've changed my mind on my preferred supplier.

Asda have emailed me asking for proof of ID, a full length shot and a shot of me standing on the scales. Why did they not ask for this to be uploaded when I placed the original order? They've also said there is a national shortage and there may be a delay sending the medication.

CBA. I'll stick with Boots even though their website is shit! I think maybe I DO prefer picking up in person so it can't get lost or delayed.

This is really worrying. Food is not the enemy! And this medication shouldn't be totally removing the desire to eat, that would be miserable and kill us all very fast. You've eaten nutritious and tasty sounding food, celebrate it! If it helps for you to calculate calories to stop you undereating maybe that's a good idea? Or maybe you need some help with these thoughts if they continue?

I'm not calorie counting because I hate it. I'm just focusing on having three balanced meals a day with all food groups. Paying attention to when I feel full and not beating myself up if I have something a bit more treat like.

Edited

I think it's the fact it's so expensive that fast losses are tempting, but I'm not keen on making myself ill to save a few bucks. I think I was feeling like that as i wasn't sure where I was with calories required, but I think if I go for 1200 cals, I will probably end up nearer to 1500 as I always underestimate what i eat. This is a bit of a journey learning how to eat in a better way. I feel I can make better choices now, as I'm making a conscious effort to eat better to get the nutrients in. I'm definitely not going to starve myself - it was just more of a "is it normal to eat like this on this medication - is this more than what other people eat?".

I think I've just been throw by this medication and actually being able to not feel hungry constantly - I can't fathom what I should be doing now. I have to say I feel a bit hungrier on this second dose. I think it's going to still be hard to stick to 1500 cals some days. I've been picking a little bit this afternoon and that's a behaviour I want to get rid of.

If there are delivery delays, how far ahead do you think it would be sensible to order my next jab? I’m torn over whether to stay on 2.5 or go up - I’m appetite suppressed but obviously really only have one week to go by so far and no massive loss.

ObsidianTree · 21/03/2024 18:06

That's interesting about delays etc. As 2.5mg and 5mg is showing in stock on Asda site. Maybe more people are joining up

I'm wondering if I could order a 5mg and then if I want to stay on 2.5 just take half a dose at a time. Would be cheaper, too.

Investinmyself · 21/03/2024 18:43

If Calorie counting isn’t for you @Soukmyfalafel how about tracking protein?
I’m cc using nutracheck but really focusing on my protein.

Does that mean once we hit a BMI of 30 we'll no longer be able to use it? Mine is 34 but I'll still be fat at 30 😶

I think it just means a different prescribed won't start a prescription if you are under 30. I'd like to thi k you can continue to take it until you are in the healthy weight bracket. Considering I'm obsessed I still have to work my way through the whole of the overweight basket first.

Is it possible to take a half a dose?

I'm doing my 2nd jab tomorrow but already thinking about when to order my next month worth...maybe the starter pack from Bolt which would be another 4 weeks at 2.5mg but would then have 5mg ready to go for month 3...

I don't want to be hit with supply issues if it's working for me

I was just thinking the same thing.
I only started my 1st dose yesterday so it's probably way to early to say if staying on 2.5 for another month would be beneficial but I definitely don't want to run out

ObsidianTree · 21/03/2024 19:32

@RagzRebooted ted and @NCfor24 and @ElizaJ74 you could technically split the doses of the 5mg pen by only turning it half way eat time. Not sure about you guys, but I got 7 needles for each pen I bought so I have 3 spare for each pen if I wanted to split the doses.

OP posts:
NCfor24 · 21/03/2024 20:11

Thanks @ObsidianTree Bolt only sent 4 needles though :(

ElizaJ74 · 21/03/2024 20:30

Thanks @ObsidianTree I think I got 6 or 7 so it's a good idea

I was thinking you'd have to extract each dose with a different syringe and needle to get it accurate. I'm not sure how accurate just going halfway would be? 30 clicks or something?

I managed to find some of the spare needles that fit the pens in a cupboard at work (free samples that had just gone out of date so can't be given to patients) so I nabbed those just in case as no spares with mine.

RagzRebooted · 21/03/2024 21:32

Actually, the Kwikpen device they use for Mounjaro is also used for insulin and so it's quite likely that each click is 0.01ml, because that would be 1 click per unit if you were using the insulin Kwikpen. I'm pretty sure I counted 60 clicks when I did mine, so 30 clicks would be half a dose, or 0.3ml.

Mortigua · 21/03/2024 21:33

Really odd question I know and I know not everything is a side effect but has anyone else had random sharp pains ? I’ve had them in my knee and now my foot , repeated very sharp pains . Just today so probably unrelated to this but odd .

Wineninja123 · 21/03/2024 21:45

I’ve done my 3rd dose yesterday and I’ve lost 9lbs. I need to keep going for my physical and mental health!

BUT I’m very very tired and fatigue, do you think this will get better? Can I do anything?

I feel like I’m the only one with this side effect.

FlappyFish · 21/03/2024 22:29

I am very tired and reliant on caffeine.

I had my first dose of 5mg today. I was successful on 2.5mg and, being totally honest here, it has killed what teeny bit of appetite I had dead.

The idea of eating anything is hard. I have though. Once I started eating something I am ok, but it feels like my stomach has shrunk to a thimble.

I can see how this could become dangerous very quickly when it works like this. Combined with the exhilaration of weight loss, I feel like I could just take multivitamins and not eat full stop. I know that’s not healthy and I shan’t be doing it. It’s meant to be a tool, not a crash diet or slide into a different type of eating disorder.

Investinmyself · 21/03/2024 22:43

I’m really wondering about staying on 2.5mg. Will hold off reordering for a few days and see. I’m day 8 and feel like I’m keeping a nice balance eating healthy meals but no snacking. I’ve been out for a meal tonight, made a healthy choice, one course no alcohol but totally fine.

OoohLovelySlippers · 21/03/2024 22:46

I've relented and taken photos of myself in the mirror and on the scales and sent them to ASDA as I'm hungry only being on 5mg having switched to this from 2.4mg Wegovy.

So as of next week I'll be taking 5mg from Boots and 5mg from Asda at the same time. Plus whatever dregs I can get out of the pens with syringes that I have ordered.

I'll only need to double-order for a couple of months. Once the doses I'm allowed to order get higher I will be able to switch back to just one.

OoohLovelySlippers · 21/03/2024 22:48

@FlappyFish ah you sweet summer child! Soon you will be like me and need MEGA doses to keep the hunger from the door! Sadly I thought was a "super responder" at the start of Ozempic but it soon wore off.

Haha this is like Trainspotting!!

OoohLovelySlippers · 21/03/2024 22:51

@RagzRebooted my understanding is that throughout all of this, the shortages have been due to lack of pens being manufactured, not lack of the drug itself. I assume the drug companies seeing ££££ in their eyes have sorted this all out now.

I think the media like to scaremonger by talking of drug shortages.

RunningAndSinging · 21/03/2024 22:55

The higher dose (5mg) seems to be making a difference for me. I was out for a tea at Costa today and normally I would be soo tempted by a corn flake cake but I just wasn’t interested. I am still eating reasonable meals but get full if I attempt a big meal. I haven’t had any bad side affects. I am very impressed at the moment. It seems more subtle than Semaglutide.

sassygirlx · 21/03/2024 22:56

I had my first jab of 2.5mg Mounjaro this morning (I lost nearly three stone on Ozempic last year, but after I wasn't allowed it anymore I put 1.5 stone back on)
Flitted week to week on Wegovy but it just didn't have any effect at all so I'm now on Mounjaro.

I feel fine - no side effects yet.

Had two poached eggs on sourdough and avocado about 1030 but didn't eat it all.

Then ate half a pizza (couldn't manage it all) and two glasses of wine for dinner.

This has to work!!!!

angeltop · 21/03/2024 23:03

for those who ordered from Bolt, did you agree for Bolt to inform your GP?

cloudchaos · 21/03/2024 23:19

Should we be worrying about supply issues then? I'm surprised Asda is having problems, I thought the UK was fine and it was just those in the US with issues?
