So this might be a bit random, but is anyone having acne or spots, particularly along the hairline? I'm not really that spotty unless it's TTOTM but after each injection I've ended up with quite a few large spots, and it's particularly bad on my hairline, where I never normally get them. Anyone else had the same?

Me! Really bad spots on my jawline, massive ones that are taking ages to go. And generally really bad teenager skin (am in my 50's Hmm)

I've only lost 3lbs in 3.5 weeks, I'm due to start 5mg on Saturday so hoping that has an effect as the 2.5mg has done nothing so far. The weight loss has been pure willpower but I actually would have lost more if I'd been properly focusing on dieting rather than hoping this would help. But a loss is a loss and I just need to keep at it.

Day 2 for me after my first 2.5 injection and the food noise is strong. I didn't realise just how much my life revolved around food until I had to really pay attention instead of just mindlessly eating whenever and whatever I fancied.

When did you all start to notice your appetites going away?

It was very quick for me. I took the dose in the evening and it seemed to have kicked in by the morning.

NextPrimeMinister · 20/03/2024 07:55

@Thebaldprimadonna

That's an amazing overall loss. 👏

We're similar starting weights, so it's encouraging to see your progress as you're a week ahead of me.

Over a stone in 4 weeks? Yep, I'll pay £185 for that!!

Wonkypictureframe · 20/03/2024 08:14

My appetite died as soon as I jabbed. It hasn’t come back at all yet although I’m only in week two.

Two and a half weeks for me. So good when it happens though. Worth the wait.

Official first weigh day for me this morning, after taking my week 2 dose of 2.5 last night.

SW: 12st 0.5
CW: 11st 12
Loss: 2.5lb

Bit disappointed as I was 11.11 yesterday and really thought I'd get at least 4 pounds off by this morning. I have been soooo good with food but I have drank too much alcohol over the week though, that's a convo for another thread.

I had bloating and gas overnight with my first injection but last night after my second dose (which I took at 5.30pm) I woke up at 3am sneezing violently, with a sore and itchy throat and my nose dripping. It was so bad I had to get up to take medicine and prop myself up on the sofa to try and sleep. I woke up much better this morning and I think it was more like an allergic reaction and not illness. Has anyone else had this? It reminded me of how I feel when I'm near cats which I'm allergic to.

AgathaMystery · 20/03/2024 08:29

Morning all. Day 4 for me and I’m 4lb down - I weigh in kg but I think I’m in the minority here. I’ve felt hungry but nothing I can’t handle.

I think side effects wise this is more gentle for me than saxenda - but it doesn’t kill the hunger cravings as bad. That said, before bed last night I was starving so I had 3 crackers - the 3rd was a struggle to eat. It was just a cracker!

I would really appreciate some advice on supplements. I take a vit D but that’s it. I think I probably need something to help with the constipation that will inevitably arrive. Anything else??

KeepingUndercover · 20/03/2024 08:29

My appetite hasn't gone gone. It's reduced though and when I am hungry it takes much less food to fill me up. I don't want to never feel hungry so that's fine with me.

Namechange25793 · 20/03/2024 08:34

Great progress and attitude @Thebaldprimadonna slow and steady wins the race!

I took my 4th dose (2.5mg) yesterday and can see the remaining medicine in the pen. So that will be my 5th dose before moving onto a 5mg pen.

My appetite is definitely quieter on this medication but I have been hungry at times. I think that’s ok as it’s allowed me to react appropriately, eating food but choosing healthy options and smaller portions.

I’m eating super healthy- lots of protein, vegetables and im still eating carbs just less of them. Trying to focus on nutritionally dense food with lots of vitamins. I’m enjoying eating but am satisfied quickly, which is a good thing. I’m hoping this feeling of being satiated will last once I stop the medication and move onto maintenance calories- which will be 500 more than I’m eating now (currently at 1,470 calories per day).

I think the key for me is logging everything that passes my lips on my fitness pal. I fully expect to have to do this for life and I’m willing to do this. I don’t think I’m very good at monitoring my calories and macros without logging everything. It’s a small price to pay for maintaining my health and takes no more time than other self care such as brushing my teeth.

R4ch402 · 20/03/2024 09:39

I’ve been having awful period pain cramps every evening but no bleeding. The cramps last for about an hour and are really strong.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 20/03/2024 09:51

Week 3 injection for me today. I haven't weighed myself rightly or wrongly as a) I had just got back from a food/wine heavy weekend away so knew I'd be right up there on the scales, b) I wanted to ease into it and c) this is a long term thing so didn't want to get hung up on numbers, would rather go by my clothes at this early stage.

Benefits though are my appetite has gone right down as has the food noise, I've definitely eaten less and my partner has noticed too so I'll be surprised if I haven't lost something. I'm watching what I'm eating too.

I've still had alcohol but not as much and not the usual 'let's pick on stuff' once I've had a couple of wines. I might start tracking properly once I move to the 5 pen.

ObsidianTree · 20/03/2024 10:01

Well done for all the recent losses.

Interesting hearing about the effects people are having ttm. I had mine the week I took my first mj jab and 4 days early. Wondering what my second month ttm will be like.

Today I edited my Fitbit home screen to monitor my water intake and set myself a daily goal of 3ltrs. Feel I need to monitor this as I don't know how much I drink in the day.

Took my third jab last night and woke up feeling a bit bloated and the driest mouth in the world!
Official weigh in gives me 7lbs in 2 weeks. Not huge but I'm happy as it's taken minimum effort.

My clever DP has found a way to force the pen to turn again so we are on track for 5 doses per pen!

I go away just after Easter and it's a diving holiday. I haven't been in a while and have put on weight since. Haven't dared try my wetsuit on yet! Hoping I won't need to buy an emergency one before I go.

NCfor24 · 20/03/2024 11:00

Update ..first jab was last Friday lunchtime so day 5
I haven't consciously dieted
I have eaten out a couple of times and not quite finished my meal either time and couldn't face pudding (unheard of)
I opened a bottle of prosecco last night and would usually drink it like pop, but 2 glasses and then put it away..I'm not sure I even enjoyed it!

I am new in a very stressful job and have struggled and worried to the point that last week it really impacted my sleep and I was drinking more to help me relax. Now it may be coincidence that I'm finding my feet and settling in but I feel so much better this week. I definitely feel a positive impact on my mood which I feel goes beyond just feeling more comfortable work wise. And I'm not snacking or comfort eating at all which is unheard of. Each night I've gone to bed almost shocked at the realisation I've not had sweets or chocolate etc.
Scales don't seem to have moved much, maybe -2lb but I'll weigh properly Friday, but I feel well and positive and uplifted. And if I have lost weight, it's the easiest weight loss ever. I do need to make healthier choices for meals and have a word with DH about what he cooks for me (he does 99% of it). Yesterday I had a meal replacement shake, a chunk of cheese for lunch as didn't fancy anything enough to prepare it, and then meal with the family which was home cooked burger and chips. I must be in a calorie deficit but should definitely focus on nutrition rather than just calories.

Anyway just wanted to say so far so good! And I love reading this thread and how supportive it is.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 20/03/2024 11:01

I've moved my injection/weigh in day from Wednesday to Friday this week and I can feel that I'm hungrier.

I used the 'extra' dose last week so I'm pretty much on 5mg currently with my first proper 5mg dose from the new pen due on Friday.

I would say I'm less hungry for normal food in general but I've been unable to stop snacking on jelly beans in the evening. I got a huge tub for Christmas and hadn't been bothered about them until I started Mounjaro and now I can't leave them alone.

I've not been interested in chocolate or crisps which is amazing. When I've had them I've chosen a 99 calorie option of crisps and a small bar of chocolate such as a kitkat rather than the huge bar I'd have had previously. I've had no interest in eating fast food and weirdly I have zero interest in shopping! I also feel a bit happier and less negative about life.

What is slightly disappointing is that although I've lost over a stone, I haven't noticed much difference in my clothes. I'm nearer to an 18 than a 20 now but can't say I've dropped a dress size yet. My clothes are definitely more comfortable now though.

I'd love to hit 1.5 stones loss by Friday's weigh in, but I've struggled this week due to TOTM so I don't think I'll quite make it.

loverofpants · 20/03/2024 11:02

With regards to supplements I take a multi vitamin, a top up high dose of vit an every 3 days, magnesium daily and I take mag 07 for the constipation as and when needed. I also use collagen powder (which is also 20g of protein!) which helps with hair loss and skin. I have found that at least one large bottle a day of water with electrolytes helps and helps with fatigue.

I've been quite lucky with effects but have had the occasional killer headache and nausea. I had a month where Mounjaro wasn't available where I live so I had wegovy and that brought my period forward by over 2 weeks and was a killer. The Mounjaro doesn't seem to have affected it normally. I have seen A LOT of Mounjaro babies being born- I think it makes oral contraceptives less effective. I think it also reduces a lot of symptoms of PCOS so that has helped a lot of people.

Please tell us how he did it.

ObsidianTree · 20/03/2024 11:16

@loverofpants what brand of collagen powder do you use that has protein? Thanks

CiderJabs · 20/03/2024 11:36

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what he did. From what I gathered, he forced the plunger until it snapped, pulled it out and the pen stayed like that. When I injected it, it was harder to push than it normally is, and the numbers were not spinning so I had to eyeball the priming.
He will do it again next week and I'll try and watch him so as I can explain it better. I did tell him to make a YouTube video (and make millions :)))) but he was not keen!

Soukmyfalafel · 20/03/2024 12:08

I've done my 2nd 2.5mg dose this morning. A little earlier as I did it Wednesday eve last week, but I woke up on the Thursday feeling very full and I like to be able to eat tomorrow morning.

Very busy this morning. Had banana for breakfast then a few crackers and butter due to being very active and feeling a bit faint. I'm regretting the crackers already!

According to the scales I have lost 6-7lbs, but clothes and body feel much the same, just no bulging over the top of jeans Not exactly close to falling off me yet. I'm not sure what I was expecting after a week, but overall I am happy, even though I don't really feel like I've lost any weight. I'm not paying attention to the scales so much, more how I feel.

Soukmyfalafel · 20/03/2024 12:12

Oh and I think I administered the second dose much better. No scratch and bruise this time. I sat down for it and the plunger went down much easier. A little drop of the fluid came out though, so not sure how I will be this week. I did bleed a lot last week due to being heavy handed, so I expect some came out in the blood then too.

FlappyFish · 20/03/2024 12:26

On the clothes discussion it makes me realise how much stretch clothes hide weight gain. I mean, I did know this. I’m not daft. But I thought I was a 16 at 14 and a half stone. (5’7).

I’m still a 16, albeit roomy, at 12.12. They actually fit now without using the stretch to fit. 😂
