@loverofpants what brand of collagen powder do you use that has protein? Thanks

I use Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides, it's in a big blue tub!

Investinmyself · 20/03/2024 13:32

Second 2.5g dose done today.
I’m 4 lb down week 1.
I’ve been feeling really well. I’ve been eating 1100 cals (1000 cal deficit) week 1 over 3 small meals no snacks. Mainly protein/veg/berries. Lots of water and 10,000 steps.
Mentally I feel so much better that something is finally working.
No longer obese bmi.

Soukmyfalafel · 20/03/2024 13:41

Thats great to hear invest. We started at the same time. I find it reassuring that something is controlling my excessive hunger and that I don't have to think too much about avoiding food (and failing).

I have spent most of my life as a healthy BMI and on a couple of occasions went under 18.5. In the last two years it has gone up significantly and when I weighed myself to apply I was borderline obese. It was nice to see it go down the scale this week instead of up for a change. I am still well into the overweight category though.

How low does your BMI need to be before you can't get the jabs? I want to get down to about 21/22 so I have some lee-way with gaining again. I don't want to stop at 24 as I might creep up into overweight again. I know you can put weight on when you stop initially as your body adjusts.

@ObsidianTree Collagen is a type of protein so all of them.

HI everyone, officially joining as mine has just arrived. Managed to get it with 50% off from Voy but won't be getting the 2nd from them as it's much cheaper elsewhere.
Not taking it straight away as I don't want to feel rough at work (nurse) and also I just ate a bowl of insanely spicy noodles and the idea of them coming out with force, from either end (sorry!) is rather off putting. I will go with my original plan of taking it Friday evening (maybe, I'm not known for being patient!) so I can see how I am over the weekend, then for our anniversary weekend push it back by 2 days so I'm able to enjoy my meal out.
I've read the first thread twice, so thanks for all the tips. I really need to up my water intake as it's terrible at the moment, though I usually manage about 10 cups of tea and coffee a day!

Edit to add stats. I'm 5'10" and just over 110kg (about 17.5 stone). Heaviest ever. Years ago I lost 50lb on low carb, but I just don't have the mental or physical capacity to do that at the moment.
Underactive thyroid isn't helping and latest bloods showed I need a dose increase (probably because of the weight gain) so I'm also tired and have a low mood and no motivation.

ObsidianTree · 20/03/2024 15:21

@RagzRebooted sounds very similar to me! Had success with keto a few years ago but just can't get back into it now. I also have an under active thyroid so hoping that doesn't effect the losses too much.

Good luck the new starters

Well done for everyone's losses ☺️

For anyone who feels like they can't tell from their clothes they've lost weight, in my experience it takes much more weight than you think to drop a dress size. I know the magazines are all "drop a size in 2 weeks" and maybe you can do that if you're a size 10 and just carrying a bit of weight at your middle to be an 8. If you're big all over it takes more. Plus, as someone else said, when clothes have stretch it's much harder to tell anyway.

BlackFriYay · 20/03/2024 16:31

I was weighed at my GP surgery yesterday (13 stone 8)

I took my first injection of MJ when I got home at 2pm.

I've just weighed myself.. 13 stone 5!

I've eaten well and walked lots in the past 24h but that's Incredible.

RagzRebooted · 20/03/2024 17:05

Ok so I've done it already. I'm not great at delayed gratification! Dose 1 went fine.

RagzRebooted · 20/03/2024 17:25

@KeepingUndercover I'm about a stone per dress size at my height.

I swear, when I'm a healthy BMI I'm never wearing stretchy clothes again. I imagine, if you're wearing actual button up stuff daily you notice quite quickly that they're getting tight. That would have been the time to sort my weight out. When I could lose the half a stone in a month or two. When you get to the stage of knowing it's likely to take a year to get back to where you want to me, it's really hard to stay motivated.

Not to be a rain cloud but scales can vary massively. You never know of course!

If anyone is after a 2.5mg pen I do have a referral code for 50% off at voy. It's subscription based but you can cancel after it's been posted. They do charge more but I got my pen for £114.50. I'd also get another 50% off my next pen too (for full disclosure!)

Mortigua · 20/03/2024 17:50

I did my injection today - 3rd real one . I am going up and down the same pound or so and need to stop with the daily weighing. I’m wondering now about that extra bit in the pen as it’s only two weeks till this pen runs out too - please could someone explain it again though as I don’t understand, does it give a 2.5 dose equivalent or a 5? Or something else ?

MiniCooperLover · 20/03/2024 18:02

So the type of KwikPen they sent me is slightly different to the type I used with Ozempic. On this one it seems to pull outwards when you click and I stopped at 0, was that right?

That's where I got my first one, same price. Have you cancelled your subscription yet? I'm not sure whether to do it now as it's arrived or leave it a few weeks in case I need their advice on anything.
Where are you planning on getting your second one? I got a referral offer as well, but not likely to have anyone use it and £229 is way too much for the second one.

Stopped at zero at which point? You click it outwards to 1 to give the dose and it clicks back to zero as you press it down to give the dose.

YouAreEffluentKim · 20/03/2024 18:17

I've just done my third 2.5mg injection today too and managed to not mess it up (forgot to prime it last week as thought I was looking for an icon in the window of the pen - duh!)

I opted for the left thigh this time. I did the stomach last week and had quite a lot of nausea through the weekend so thought I'd go back to the thigh where I injected the first time and didn't get so much nausea. I'll play around with injection sites in future and go for stomach or arm if I feel I'm stalling.

I found this YouTube video showing how to prep and inject using a UK pen if it helps anyone else

MiniCooperLover · 20/03/2024 18:20

RagzRebooted I think I figured out what I did wrong. So as I was twisting it it showed zero, keep twisting, another zero and then third twist it showed a 1. So I should have carried onto the 1 but I stopped too early? So I've just redone and only gone half way and so now think I've had the full injection. I'll know better for next week now.

@RagzRebooted this is actually my third pen. I bought my first from pharmacy4u then got the second one there too within a few days as I was worried it would sell out (this was 5mg). Then did more research on titrating up so bought this one from Voy. I've found a few people that sell for around £150 so I'll probably get from one of those if I can get 5mg from the off.

Pigriver · 20/03/2024 18:36

For anyone who hasn't already started I got my first pen from juniper. It cost more but then I cancelled under their 25 day risk free trial and the refunded me straight away no questions asked. They did keep £50 which was probably the prescribers consultation fee or something but £50 for one pen was a bargain. Currently going through Bolt for the second and awaiting approval. You get a set of scales and a really good app with juniper too.

Just my opinion, but I don’t think we should be able to shift between providers so easily. This is a prescribed medication and can have serious side effects. There should be continuity of care.

Not criticising individuals for taking advantage of the competition, but I’m surprised it’s allowed.

Wonkypictureframe · 20/03/2024 19:00

I’ve just had dinner on a train, which I commute on a lot: the menu is usually the same. I’ve realised that my tastes have magically changed. I did not want any of my normal options and instead went for a whole grain salad and enjoyed it. But it felt huge. I think that’s what I’m noticing. Healthy choices are totally easy. I don’t feel deprived in the slightest.

Edited

It's my first experience of this sort of private prescribing and it is so weird to me. When these drugs were made available privately I'd imagined it more as pay for a private consultation, maybe via video or chat but more than sending a photo and ticking some boxes, and then being approved. I do wonder about the ethics of the whole thing. While simultaneously taking advantage of it!

Is it that easy to get higher doses from different providers? Presumably you have to send some proof of your previous prescription?
