I have decided to start with Mourjano. Have put an order in with Asda and should hopefully be delivered soon!

Anyone else going to give Mourjano a go?

Day five and 3 1/2 lb loss so far. I’m amazed.
So many of these posts echo my position, it’s very reassuring, although I’m still unsettled by media comments about these medications and the long term effects. How exactly will I manage when I stop treatment, am I starving myself? I really don’t think I would eat unless I told myself to because I feel no hunger now at all. I do eat and making sure I participate in family meals with smaller portions, if only to look normal in front of teen DC.

Maybe the hunger pangs will arrive in the next two days if it starts to wear off before my next dose. The nausea is only just settling and I did sleep badly for the first two nights - it seems worth it to get back to a healthy weight and feel good again because perimenopause has gifted me an extra 2.5 stone (as well as my own bad habits!). In some ways I want to take it a bit slower and tone up as I go. I’ll see how 5mg goes and perhaps postpone the increase to 7.5 if the clinician agrees. Is anyone else here signed up with Juniper?

Priority1234 · 13/03/2024 13:14

Hi everyone!

First ever check in after I was inspired to try Mounjaro by reading this thread. Injected this morning, 2.5mg.

SW - 16st 3, BMI 37

I'm really excited to be on this journey after years of yo and yo dieting :)

Investinmyself · 13/03/2024 13:16

I’ve taken my first dose today. Ordered from pharmacy4u. Not told anyone in real life.
My starting bmi is 30.2.
I’m almost 50 and perimenopausal.
I successfully lost 5 stone on sw but last year I regained nearly 2 stone in 6 months.
I’ve been working with a pt and cc at 1600 cals a day for 5 months and am same weight. Nothing is working.
I’m just hoping it kick starts things.
I feel ok so far.

izzy2076 · 13/03/2024 13:32

@Investinmyself you're basically my twin as I'm exactly in the same position with same BMI.

CiderJabs · 13/03/2024 13:53

@Soukmyfalafel @naturesponge we are all short asses! Grin

It's annoying how big you look / feel when you're short.

I've just taken my second one today. Started at 74kg and am now 70!! So almost 8lbs in one week which I'm delighted about.

My mouth feels so dry it's driving me mad. But other than that I am doing ok. I haven't been eating much at all. Sometimes I go down to the kitchen, open the fridge and go 'meh' and leave empty handed. Very peculiar !

CiderJabs · 13/03/2024 13:56

Also. So many of us with perimenopause weight gain!!! It's not enough to have periods / kids / hormones all our lives and now this 😤

Choux · 13/03/2024 14:15

I have been tracking my weight on My Fitness Pal on and off for years. In that time I have put on about 50lb - the graph just gently trends upwards with occasional dips where I dieted and lost half a stop or a stone before getting bored and putting it back on.

Using the 3,500 excess calories = 1lb fat rule i have calculated that I have, on average, eaten less than 50 calories too much a day. So one biscuit or a few chips. Or I should have exercised a few minutes more each day. An extra half mile should have been walked. Or a bit more muscle built. The weight is here because I had the extra biscuit and didn't walk the extra 10 minutes.

This is my drastic reset for a few months and, as I start seeing the benefits, I will start more of an exercise routine to not let this weight slowly come back. It only takes small changes and slightly smaller portions at mealtimes to maintain our goal weights once we get it off with the help of Mounjaro.

It's here it's here!! I'm going to inject on Friday in case of any side effects, but just having it here in the house is making me so excited!

Thanks for replying I feel less alone by posting on here.
Honestly tipping into ‘obese’ bmi has really preyed on me. But I’ve been at this bmi for last 6 months and nothing has been working. I eat healthily (mostly from scratch cooking) virtually no alcohol and hit my protein target of 120g a day.
I’ve had soup for lunch (a Fraser Reynolds high protein recipe) and lots of water and feel full.

Investinmyself · 13/03/2024 14:54

Can I ask those who have been doing it a few weeks how you are managing food?
Are you still eating at meal times but eating a smaller portion/healthier meal even if not hungry.
I’m hoping if I focus on 3 high protein meals with fruit/veg and the mourjano helps me cut out the snacking I’ll lose but feel well.
I’ve definitely drink more water today.

izzy2076 · 13/03/2024 14:57

@Investinmyself yes. I've just turned fifty. I lift weights 4 x a week, I walk 15,000 steps per day. Always hovered around 1800 cals otherwise I'm starving. Hit obese category last week. I really can't see what else I can do. I don't binge eat. I just like my food...it's so unfair what happens to us in peri menopause. I'm staring to have that barrel look with skinny legs. I've got the body of a chronic wine drinker despite being teetotal.

Hi everyone

I've joined the club. My package arrives tomorrow. I'm 50 years old and am struggling with peri menopausal weight gain. My BMI just about meets the criteria at 30. I've been debating injectibles for so long. I don't binge eat but I love my food and I'm greedy. I have managed to put on a stone in the last year despite walking 15000 steps a day and lifting weights 4 x a week. I have 2.5 stone to lose, which isn't huge but I just can't shift it.

I am worried about what happens when I need to come off it and realise it will probably be long term.

I'm also really worried about the logistics of the pen. It sounds complicated! Are the needles already in the pen?

Just seen your post, yes horribly familiar.
I’m sure my online pt thinks I’m not tracking accurately but I am on nutracheck. I’ve also been hitting 10,000 steps (not easy as job totally sedentary) weights program etc and still no loss. My gain is all on my stomach. I’d also like 2 to 2.5 stone off.

I drink very little. I did dry Jan and February. I’ve had 2 cocktails for my birthday as only alcohol this year.
I don’t binge, eat healthily. If I have none tracked days..nothing wild just perhaps a meal out I spike up massively. It’s constantly in my thoughts and I’m trying but nothing working.
I needed to be smart at work and wore a fitted dress on Monday and sideways on I look heavily pregnant.

I haven't managed three meals a day. I tend to have something small in the morning (just to avoid low blood sugar issues rather than through hunger) and then have a proper meal with my kids early evening. I have been serving much smaller portions than usual and often don't finish. My adult kids haven't noticed a thing!

izzy2076 · 13/03/2024 16:53

I spoke yesterday about my fear of having taken 2x 2.5 instead of one. Could someone please check that my vial is supposed to look like this after the first dose? I'm having a bit of a panic!

Thank you. I’ll see how I go.
So far I’ve had soup and avoided my usual afternoon snack. Definitely not hungry which is weird!

Mine looks like that but I have taken two doses. Am sure you will be fine but might possibly have slightly stronger effects - both the appetite suppression and any of the less appealing side effects.

ObsidianTree · 13/03/2024 17:33

@Investinmyself I can skip breakfast and just have lunch and dinner. I haven't tried to only have one meal a day. Diet wise I have stuck to between 1200 to 1500 kcals but eating what I want as long as it's in cal range. But I don't think this is working from me as I'm not losing much. So will probably aim to reduce carbs next week (going Disneyland this weekend so will be healthy after that!)

izzy2076 · 13/03/2024 17:34

Thanks all. I feel like such an idiot!! I injected it into my stomach and the vial was completely full so thought it had failed. That will teach me!!

I feel rough actually. Nauseous and didn't sleep all night. I think I would have been fine on 2.5! I'm drinking lots of water and will leave it ten days before the next one. Reddit tells me that some people actually start on 5mg, but I know that's definitely not ideal!!

Newbies: don't get so far over excited you fuck up your first dose!

I'm wondering if the side effects will get worse. I'm 30 hours in, surely I'm over the worst!

Tummy rumbling. Head not hungry. It's so weird!
