Charity pin with a note from the newlyweds saying they had donated to their fave charities instead of giving out usual favours

Why the fanfare? Just donate, don't look for a pat on the back into the bargain 😂

A friend gave ice cream scoops with a ribbon tied around saying 'scoops of love'. We ditched the ribbon but use the scoop regularly and I do think of their wedding day and of my friend everytime we use it. (We live in different countries so don't see each other more than once every few years or so!)

Our friends did similar with quirky bottle openers - still used years later!

Shots and sweets

mrsmacmc · 31/07/2022 22:04

@Johnnysgirl maybe the newlyweds didn't want to not give favours? I still wear the pin on my lanyard, better than some tat we've had over the years as favours 🤷‍♀️

ChronicOverthinkr · 31/07/2022 22:06

Flip flops for the women which most of us used later for dancing. I’m struggling to remember what they gave the men… it was something else to be used on the night too.

We didn’t have favours at ours - made a donation to charity instead.

I always enjoy a good wedding favour, I know that makes me a minority here! I made up bags of sweetshop sweets for mine. Other nice ones at other peoples weddings; packs of seeds, mini bottles of homemade limoncello, personalised love hearts or sticks of rock, homemade jam in little jars.

QueenOfWeeds · 31/07/2022 22:17

@Johnnysgirl perhaps trying to raise awareness of a less well known charity?

Can I be a total killjoy and say please don't do scratch cards? So many people struggle with gambling and it's a nasty, pernicious addiction. You probably won't know that they are struggling and it's a very bad idea to encourage gambling anyway.

And yes, I know I'm a joyless fun-sponge.

I'll be a fun-sponge with you. I agree wholeheartedly.

A home made bread bun and a little tub of jam that we could all eat while we were waiting for the food. I think the jam had a sticker on that said spread the love.

I know most people don't but I like the little packets of wildflower seeds some people do too.

A bread roll is not a wedding favour 😂

I didn't do favours, I provided more booze instead.

That's the way to do it.

TheGetaway · 31/07/2022 22:42

It is possible to provide more booze AND favours

But nobody actually wants the favours... That's the point. Who has a deep yearning for a pebble with their name painted on it, really?

FloMoJo · 31/07/2022 22:45

Little succulent plant in a cute pot maybe three inches high size.

Tiredmum100 · 31/07/2022 22:46

I'm in the minority, I guess. I love wedding favours, best ones were chocolate/food based. Jar of mini eggs at the last wedding I went to (Easter time). I'd also really enjoy a party bag to go home with 😀.

Half a gram of cocaine perhaps

You win Wink

I ordered mini tire bottles of a Chanel perfume and they were in little cracker favour boxes, it was way back in 2004 but all the ladies loved them I didn't do anything for the men, I'm sure at that time it was just the ladies who got favours

Wow! I love Chanel perfume! How much did that cost?

maeveiscurious · 31/07/2022 22:53

Gingerbread pig

Painted pebble

DillDanding · 31/07/2022 22:54

Wedding favours are almost exclusively a pile of shite. Does anyone want sweets or sugared almonds? However...we were once given a tiny bay tree per couple which is now quite massive and lovely.

Another memorable one was the place cards were tiny framed caricatures which we still have and it was at least 15 years ago.

WorkCleanRepeat · 31/07/2022 23:01

Cake pops have been much favourite recently

longtompot · 31/07/2022 23:01

Some small wooden discs with the bark still attached, natural twine loop hanger and a little heart burnt onto them. We hang them on our Christmas tree every year and we love them.
I also really love sugared almonds

capedavenger · 31/07/2022 23:07

Yes please!
I love sugared Almonds.

AllLopsided · 31/07/2022 23:14

Individually wrapped teabags in a different flavour for each person, and a personal message on the name card on the table.
