We did bee bombs. Don't know how they went down but I think they're amazing (obviously 🤣)Even if guests just chuck them in their local street tree pit you get someonthing fab out of it and bees need all the help they can get. And if they leave them behind great for you! Can use yourself :-)

Worst one I had was an egg cup with a photo of the bride and groom on.

This about me? 🤔 🐍😂

A home made bread bun and a little tub of jam that we could all eat while we were waiting for the food. I think the jam had a sticker on that said spread the love.

I know most people don't but I like the little packets of wildflower seeds some people do too.

steppemum · 31/07/2022 21:09

Judging by this thread the way to do it is to make nice place markers with people's name on it. They serve their purpose and look nice and then some people will love them and take them home, and others will happily leave them and everyone is happy.

I’m so confused by the ‘spend more on food’ posts

They’re not exclusive you know
You can have food AND favours

Actually also like mini alcohol bottles too. Basically something to eat or drink at the wedding and not something that'll just sit gathering dust in your house afterwards.

DesignerRecliner · 31/07/2022 21:11

Our favours were miniatures of gin and vodka - they got the atmosphere going for the reception & none left over!

stuntbubbles · 31/07/2022 21:14

We keep bees so every guest got a little box with a wasp in it with our names & the date Sharpied on the wings; Epi-pens for those who needed them 🥰

Sorry, but I would reconsider the friendship if one of my friends got married and gave me a fucking jigsaw or egg cup with a photo of them on it! Jesus! Love themselves much? Do they think they're Charles and Diana? 🙄

What makes me roll my eyes is that people spend money on this tat and then put a bloody poem in the invitation to ask you for money towards the honeymoon! Tell you what, stop buying shite and you'll save a fortune towards your honeymoon!

Haha, exactly! Grin

See this is odd to me. Suggest B & G know people will be waiting and getting hungry. So just serve the meal already! Have lunch at 1, wedding at 2.30, meal at 6pm, I don't need a bread roll at 5pm.

trailrunner85 · 31/07/2022 21:19

The cactus plants sound cute in themselves, tbh, but handed out at a wedding?
Who wants to transport a flaming cactus at the end of an evening when they've had a few drinks?

Exactly. I went to one wedding where we were all given little potted herbs. A lovely idea in theory and all very well for the newlyweds who were staying at the venue.. but for those of us who were negotiating cabs/trains/buses to get home, who wants to be carting a plant about?
Those little personalised sachets of wildflowers are much easier, if you absolutely must go down that route.

PhilInt · 31/07/2022 21:22

A painted and dry flowered horse shoe which I've now had for about twenty years. Beautiful, simple, references brides hobby and not personalised to B&G.

Scratchcards

minipie · 31/07/2022 21:29

Earrings made by the bride. (Can’t remember what she did for the men). I still wear them 10+ years later.

However she did tell me she really regretted her decision once she’d made 10 pairs and still had loads to go…

Have to say I think no favours is the way to go unless there is something you really really want to do.

853ax · 31/07/2022 21:30

Scratch cards very good idea

nocoolnamesleft · 31/07/2022 21:31

It's noticeable on this thread that more people are remembering favours they've given out than favours they enjoyed receiving. I wouldn't bother.

Noone has said yet, "packet of Love Hearts".

They have. “Sustaining and entertaining”, apparently.

Dear God.
The weddings they've experienced must have been quite seriously shit if they relied on a packet of love hearts for entertainment.
And sustenance! 😂

Confused
Why not just serve the food?! This is actually insane 🤣🤣🤣

Ah no, that was the bride’s verdict. Or groom’s, perhaps.

We gave our guests personalised egg cups with our faces on one side and the date on the other. All our guests said they were the best favours ever and use them and think of us every morning 💕

Actually lolled at this, nicely done @drunktrifle 😆
