Just that - let me know please ✨

OP posts:

Never been to that sort of wedding (and I am old) and I would not want or expect anything.

cockandball · 31/07/2022 19:20

I'm giving mismatched vintage teacup and saucer - the same set that they will be using for our afternoon tea, get to keep after. Think it's pretty genius to be fair!

Goldfishmountainclimber · 31/07/2022 19:21

Better for the environment not to have them. Spend the money on food.

fakename13778 · 31/07/2022 19:26

Scratch card - won £50

Longdistance · 31/07/2022 19:28

I bought miniature bottles of malt whiskey and Baileys on the tables. We tied white ribbon and a bow on them. They were very well received.

Rbaby · 31/07/2022 19:31

My sister did a tiny tree for everyone. Each table was named after the tree. The wedding party table was oak, then they had cherry, etc etc. can't remember the others now. They had paper covers around the plastic pot which served as a place name.
It suited a woodland style theme and obviously doing something for the environment as each guest could take their tree home to plant.
Over ten years ago so I expect it would cost a bit more to do now.

Please don't do this. Who wants a mismatched old teacup, or worse if you are a couple attending, two mismatched tea cups. Waste of money and they'll end up left behind or those too polite to leave them will just bin them surely?

tsmainsqueeze · 31/07/2022 19:39

I love a wedding favour , i have kept a beautiful wooden leaf with my name , a wooden heart with my name and a glass t light holder with my name !
I have never had a tacky wedding favour , didn't do them at my own low key wedding though and don't care if there aren't any either.
As someone who makes sloe gin every year i love that as a favour .

Emmacb82 · 31/07/2022 19:42

Blimey everyone on here is so miserable!! I love a favour, especially something edible 🤣 the last wedding I went to had nothing and I was quite disappointed!

Nasty. I love a mismatched teacup myself

It's not miserable - she asked for opinions. No-one has said they hated the wedding (bar one). It's just about something that many folks think is a waste of money and would be better spent on food and drink!

watcherintherye · 31/07/2022 19:50

Husband’s nephew’s wedding, they had really lovely named coasters on the tables marking everyone’s places.

Leggingslife · 31/07/2022 19:52

Charity donation.

LemonDrizzles · 31/07/2022 19:55

I wanted to give zebra grip pens. I can't remember what we landed on.

HappyHappyHermit · 31/07/2022 19:59

Mini boxes of a mix of mints, they were lovely after a big dinner.

I suppose you would, really...

weewill · 31/07/2022 20:02

The last wedding we went to, they had a painter!

She was doing these mini water coloured pictures of guests- they were beautiful!

PutOnAHappyFace · 31/07/2022 20:02

Mini bottles of booze or scratch cards. We had brownies and tbh they went down well, none left behind because most were eaten straight away.

dustandroses · 31/07/2022 20:02

ToBarrelOrNotToBarrel · 31/07/2022 18:29

Best ones were anything edible.

The worst one we had were miniature jigsaws with a picture of the couple along with inspirational quotes.

Oh I wonder if@ToBarrelOrNotToBarrel was a guest at @trailrunner85‘s wedding 🤣🤣🤣

Goldbar · 31/07/2022 20:12

Iced biscuits.

Antarcticant · 31/07/2022 20:15

I would like a mismatched vintage cup/glass.

Christ alive! Who wants a bag of crisps and a bar of chocolate to take home? I'm assuming your guests weren't exclusively 5 year old's?

This - why do people think their guests need a party bag??

I am not primary school age. Not been to loads of weddings in the last 15 years (old) but when I have, I have left behind:
Tiny glass jar of tea
Card saying "we have donated to xxx charity" whoopdedo for you
Bag of home-made fudge, no thanks, just serve the meal
Pebble with my name on which someone spent time creating

I don't want tat, I just want to enjoy your wedding and have some nice food and drink. That's all anyone remembers anyway.

GardenersDelight · 31/07/2022 20:18

My daughter didn't have wedding favours as such but name place were impregnated with wild flower seeds and could be planted

hedwigismyowl · 31/07/2022 20:20

Can I be a total killjoy and say please don't do scratch cards? So many people struggle with gambling and it's a nasty, pernicious addiction. You probably won't know that they are struggling and it's a very bad idea to encourage gambling anyway.

And yes, I know I'm a joyless fun-sponge.

I agree, I really really dislike the idea of scratch cards and alcohol miniatures. I know too many people with issues.

And scratch cards are just tacky!

But we didn't have any wedding favours, I've never understood the point of them.
waste of money
