Just that - let me know please ✨

The best favour I ever had was socks everything else has been left on the table. Although I did find 2 pieces of wrapped fudge from my niece’s wedding last year when I went to use the handbag again. So they’re going in the bin.

RavenPaws · 31/07/2022 18:18

None.

However the worst one has to be;
A flower with a map on it of where the venue was so we could take it home and remember the wedding (left them), and the mug from ikea with our names on it in sharpie that when full of tea/ coffee the sharpie came off on your hand because they hadn't glossed over it etc, it was freezing so we were all clutching these mugs and I looked round the room and people had been touching their faces to warm themselves up on the mugs of tea/ coffee and we all had our own names in sharpie on our cheeks or just smudges or green, blue, black everywhere.

That was the wedding where the bride was so late that the grooms family left after the ceremony to go and get a curry because the seafood buffet had to binned because it was sat out for too long.

Use the money to pay for childcare for parents whom you demand attend your child free wedding summons Wink

Or just go with the egg cups 😂

usernotfound0000 · 31/07/2022 18:22

Unless it's something that can be drink on the night, eaten that day or lottery ticket/scratch card type thing, I wouldn't bother. I've never felt less of people who haven't provided one and tbh I have enough inscribed bottle openers to last me a lifetime!

tiarax · 31/07/2022 18:23

I worked at a wedding venue when I was younger and the best was a couple that gave drinks vouchers - everyone could get a drink from the bar that they liked and some tables clubbed their vouchers together to get jugs of cocktails. Much better than the things that get left on the table or thrown away. The amount of half drank glasses of fizz dotted around the venue was eye opening!

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 31/07/2022 18:25

My favourite was where the bride had printed out photos of her (and/or the groom) with each guest. They doubled as place settings at the tables instead of written names. My one was a really gorgeous one of us at uni together - it was a real blast from the past! They were in little wooden type frames. I have kept mine and written the date of the wedding along the frame - I thought it was a lovely keepsake.

Elsiid · 31/07/2022 18:27

Those giving scratch cards, would you mind if one of your guests won a couple of million? I'm not sure how I'd feel about having that and giving it away Grin

Antarcticant · 31/07/2022 18:29

The only one I really remember was a miniature champagne bottle that contained bubble mixture and a bubble wand. I only remember it because at the time my sister had a collection of novelty miniature bottles so I kept it for her.

Generally I think they're a waste of money.

ToBarrelOrNotToBarrel · 31/07/2022 18:29

Best ones were anything edible.

The worst one we had were miniature jigsaws with a picture of the couple along with inspirational quotes.

JamMakingWannaBe · 31/07/2022 18:30

Noone has said yet, "packet of Love Hearts".

PieonaBarm · 31/07/2022 18:30

Uncle Joes Mintballs, the factory do them with your own message on the bag.

I had £1 Easter eggs as got married on Easter Saturday. Went down a treat!

GaladrielHiggins · 31/07/2022 18:30

I don’t know if they still do them as we don’t have a branch nearby but one wedding we all got big chocolate hearts from Hotel Chocolat which were really nice, I think they came in milk, dark and white.

TaxAvoidance · 31/07/2022 18:32

Non
total crap and a waste of time
ended up with dozens of my brothers in my boot as no-one took them home

swizzles love hearts are cheap and sweet

MischiefTheChicken · 31/07/2022 18:42

There are some I’ve found really lovely and memorable:
-Vintage/antiquey liqueur glasses (apparently found in charity shops and junk shops), all really pretty and assorted styles but couples got matching pairs.
-Mini jars of homemade jam.
-Polished stones decorated with our names in calligraphy.
However I don’t think favours are an essential part of a wedding at all (didn’t have any at our wedding) and don’t really even notice if there aren’t any.

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/07/2022 18:48

I have left them behind . My strong advice would be; don't bother. So many other things in life to spend money on.

Maireas · 31/07/2022 18:50

trailrunner85 · 31/07/2022 18:14

We had little miniature jigsaws made with mine and DHs faces on, framed by some inspirational quotes, so the guests could have fun building up a picture of us and learning more about the very unique and intense love we have for each other.

😂😂😂😂😂

BerthaBetty · 31/07/2022 18:50

Wild flower seeds, I collected all the little packets people left behind too. I had lovely wild flowers 😊

JaffaCake70 · 31/07/2022 18:53

I got married in May. We bought a massive tub of sweets from Costco which contained swizzel lollies, parma violets, refresher chews etc. I bought small striped paper bags from Amazon (also personalised stickers for the bags with our names and wedding date on) and made little mixed bags of sweets up. These little bags worked out very cheap but were very popular :-)

capedavenger · 31/07/2022 18:56

@Maireas

Oh dear lord. I would hate that!!

Well he didn't get time for everybody and there was no pressure to have a turn so you'd have survived the experience 😉

housemaus · 31/07/2022 18:58

I don't usually notice favours but a friend collected jam jars/Nutella jars/Gu pots etc etc for ages before her wedding and then homemade scented candles.

They seemed pretty popular - for every guest who wasn't bothered and left it, there was another shoving spares in their bag!

SunshineAndFizz · 31/07/2022 18:58

Another vote for don't bother.

With the greatest respect, I'd take comments that their own favours "went down really well" with a pitch of salt.

Ponderingwindow · 31/07/2022 19:00

Christmas baubles. Small and I get to remember the couple and the event every time I hang the ornament on my tree. Since I already have an assortment, another just joins the medley. It’s not something that requires a special home or that becomes an oddball item that might not fit in with other things.

TheGetaway · 31/07/2022 19:01

They’re a bit like party bags really
