I would love to talk to some 2019 brides! I'll be the first to admit I've got stress coming out of my eyeballs! I hate the planning and now wondering if we will even afford it on time Sad
I'm also wondering how to lose weight!! Anybody else?

I’m June 2019!!

Just feels like a lot of pressure even though it’s nearly all booked!

I can’t get over how expensive it all is!

northernstars · 28/12/2018 19:14

I'm August 2019. Booked the afternoon venue that we liked best but it only fits 50. We'll need to hope the RVSPs come back quickly so we can invite other people. Making me v anxious.

SargeantAngua · 01/01/2019 12:27

We're now all getting married this year. June 29th suddenly seems a whole lot closer!!

Softpebbles · 02/01/2019 17:03

Less than 60 days.

Not. At. All. Ready 😵

Outfoxed · 02/01/2019 17:08

Getting married 13th of August. Have the venue, the registrar and my dress/shoes etc. Not too worried about it all tbh, small wedding and we are going to DIY as much as we can. All I want is tasty food, lots of beer, and my nearest and dearest, everything else is just window dressing!

Billythecat · 03/01/2019 20:13

I'm June 1stSmile All feeling rather real now and panicking a bit about getting everything organised! Most major stuff has been booked, but trying to find bridesmaids dresses is hard(already got mine)! Luckily my bridesmaids are lovely and are also looking for dresses!

Got engaged end of August- felt like plenty of time to organise everything but now feeling a bit overwhelmed!

Wishing all the best to the 2019 brides Smile

Started freaking about little things today.

Favours; what you guys doing for them?

QforCucumber · 04/01/2019 16:26

47 days! argh!

MrDarcyWillBeMine · 04/01/2019 16:30

@Gizmo

I’m stuck on favours too! MIL suggested candles or sweets but EVERYONE seems to do candles and sweets ... or alcohol!

😒 I got quite fed up with DP this last week as (granted he has come off night shifts) but 4 days later still totally limp and lethargic- dazed and uninterested!

Meanwhile, despite me being insanely busy and him PROMISING I would not have to do everything (I’d suggested 2020 as would be too busy this year) it’s surprisingly me doing everything! He’s a good guy and couldn’t knock him for anything else but he has such a lack of urgency or priority to him! It’s all so laid back and he just wouldn’t get things done! 😡

Billythecat · 04/01/2019 16:38

I'm really stuck on favours too. Had some suggestions from family, but none seem to fit really. Want to find something that we both like and not everyone else has used! No idea what though haha.

MrDarcyWillBeMine · 04/01/2019 16:41

Is anyone else in the same situation as me, where the ‘proper’ wedding planning kicked in around Oct/Nov and ALL the providers (caterer, cake, flowers...etc) were so busy with Christmas they shunted ‘appointments’ to the new year!

I now have appointments every single weekend! And the cake company had the cheek to email with ‘we’ll fit you in on 12th January’ after not responding since I booked them in Oct, 🤔

Me- erm, no sorry, I’m now booked with appointments every weekend till mid feb you’ll have to take what we have left availability wise!
Them- Oh we can only do...X date
Me- Ok then never mind my friend said she’ll make us a cake and we’ll just save the £600
Them: .... 😮 but we’ve been holding the date for you! (No deposit paid)
Me: Then be more flexible and fit us in- if it hadn’t taken you 5 weeks to respond I could have seen you in Jan!

🙄 So many vendor seem to think we have unlimited January weekend availability and not seeming to appreciate that we’re the customer and paying HANDSOMLEY for their services!

Isth · 04/01/2019 19:42

gizmosslave absolutely nothing, favours always seem like such a complete waste of time to me!

JingsMahBucket · 05/01/2019 08:31

@gizmosslave we weren’t going to do favours but I came across these really stylish travel/grocery bags this morning and I think I may just buy 80 of them in different patterns: flipandtumble.com/products/24-7-bags-prints. The theme of our relationship in general has been travel and I’m thinking of some fun activities for people to do during the wedding around that. Giving them a compact travel bag may be a nice touch too.

JingsMahBucket · 05/01/2019 08:36

@gizmosslave I’m just like @Isth in that I don’t like wedding favours and tend to find them useless or not something I’d eat anyway. I hate Jordan almonds and I won’t use a key ring. I’d rather give something useful or nothing at all. The travel/grocery bag is packable down to a really small size to fit in your purse or backpack and can be used every day if desired.

Isth · 06/01/2019 08:57

Booked my caterer, catering equipment/crockery/cutlery etc hire and the hog roast for the evening last night! Feel slightly like I’ve made a small amount of progress 😂 6.5 months to go and we’ve got;
Dress and veil (dress is on order anyway)
Florist
Church
Caterer
Catering equipment
Hog roast

Ought to get a move on and book some more stuff really 🤔 next up has to be photographer, getting our invites designed (artists in the family) and evening entertainment, band if budget allows!

SargeantAngua · 06/01/2019 20:34

I ordered the invitations from Vistaprint last night. It's feeling rather real now!

gizmosslave · 08/01/2019 17:06

Anyone else got a nightmare bridesmaid??

Softpebbles · 08/01/2019 18:18

No as I gave birth to both of mine 😂

I’ve ticked off a few things this week. Going to ikea at the weekend for a few bits that I need.

Order of service is my next headache. And first dance song. That is driving me mad.

gizmosslave · 08/01/2019 20:02

What’s an order of service?! Do I need one??

Softpebbles · 08/01/2019 20:51

Church order of service for the guests.

However just thought do I need to do some kind of sign / plan of how the day will go?

Mummyme87 · 09/01/2019 07:08

softpebbles an order of the day is always very helpful. As a guest I have found it nice to know when to expect food etc.

Favours, we are doing charity pins for the charity who 1. Who are based on my hospitals neonatal unit and fund a lot of equipment 2. My DS1 was there for two weeks when he was born with meningitis, sod elt quite poignant. Don’t like alcohol for favours. Sweets always go down well

blueskiespls · 09/01/2019 11:32

Can I ask if anyone is NOT doing favours? I am really tryin hard to save where poss. We are providing lovely food etc... so not scrimping on everything!!

canonlyhopexo · 09/01/2019 12:02

Those talking about favours, I think I'm going to go for £1 per guest donated to a chosen charity and just a little card left at each seat/on each table with a small little explanation.

MrDarcyWillBeMine · 09/01/2019 13:10

@canonly

A friend of mine had 3 rustic style pretty buckets on the side as you left the meal (bit like at supermarkets I suppose) guests put their little place card into one of the 3 (different charities) and then the B&G donated that amount to each charity!

I liked it!

Equally I went to another wedding last year where they had already donated but it was to a charity we had never heard of and there was no explanation - I mean fair enough but we were all just there like ...🤔

MrDarcyWillBeMine · 09/01/2019 13:13
  • also would highly recommend vista print!

I’ve ordered all of our stationary and it’s been lovely. There was a small issue with the thank you cards (small box which hadn’t shown up on preview) and I rang them- no quibbles just apologised and sent me brand new perfect ones - they arrived the following day!

Very pleased
