I would love to talk to some 2019 brides! I'll be the first to admit I've got stress coming out of my eyeballs! I hate the planning and now wondering if we will even afford it on time Sad
I'm also wondering how to lose weight!! Anybody else?

That's really good to know MrsFionaCharming. Planning to use vistaprint for ours so glad it works well and can be customised easily and cheaply.

StrugglingOn13 · 06/12/2018 10:19

@CurbsideProphet oooo what date? Grin

Can’t wait for 2019, will all feel so real then!

nomorearsingmermaids · 06/12/2018 21:16

We're getting married at the end of January. Getting uncomfortably close now!

Mummybear80 · 06/12/2018 21:18

March for us and so far only have my dress and the venue booked! Been waayy to laid back about it all so need to get a move on!

HerondaleDucks · 07/12/2018 08:31

I bought my bridesmaid dresses yesterday. Hopefully they will all fit as I got them online as it was cheaper
Having a real hoohah with invitations not arriving and people getting upset as they think they haven't been invited

CurbsideProphet · 07/12/2018 17:47

@Strugglingon13 the first Saturday Smile

People are just queuing up to tell me how stressful it's all going to be Hmm so far the only stressful part is dealing with everyone else Grin

StrugglingOn13 · 07/12/2018 18:51

@CurbsideProphet ooo I’m the 26th! Haha I know I keep getting told the same... not stressed so far Grin

Love this thread though! I think I saw mentioned earlier about Vistaprint for invites? Has anyone done it?

KatyaZamolodchikova · 07/12/2018 20:01

I still need invites. I still haven’t ordered them.

How far in advance have you sent invites & how long did you give people to RSVP?

pusheenthecat · 07/12/2018 20:20

I got invites through VistaPrint. They aren't hugely fancy but they are nice, you could edit all the text to make it suit your needs. So on the back I could add info about accommodation and travel without it distracting from the design on the front.
Pretty cheap and cheerful so suited me!

We are planning on sending them out about 16 weeks before, although we did send out save the dates last year (same design from VistaPrint). Then looking for RSVPs to be in with 4 weeks to go that will allow me some time for following up any stragglers.

I was looking at bridesmaids dresses from Dorothy Perkins, some of them are now out of stock though and not sure when they will get them back in or if they will? Anyone got any recommendations for other high street/ online shops for bridesmaid dresses?

mrsseashell · 07/12/2018 20:26

Oh can I join in please, Brides? I'm getting married at the end of May.

Have sorted :
-florist
-invites
-photographer
-bridesmaid dresses
-day caterer
-evening caterer

  • my dress Grin
  • ceilidh band
  • DJ
  • master of ceremonies
  • musician
  • cake

Feels like loads to me but I have no idea if I'm on schedule or not lol- always seems like there's a never ending to do list!

mrsseashell · 07/12/2018 20:27

@pusheenthecat I've ordered mine from Marks and Spencer's for £49.99 each. They're multi way bridesmaid dresses or something like that, can be worn in different styles and I was so so pleased with the quality. Lovely light fabric but heavy lining so hid all lumps and bumps (not that my bridesmaids have any, but you know what I mean!)

MrsFionaCharming · 07/12/2018 20:55

I’m still hunting for bridesmaid dresses - there’s a definite lack of purple anywhere!

loveiseverything · 07/12/2018 21:37

Feb for us, only two months to go!
A joint wedding and our daughters christening the day before our daughters 2nd birthday and I'll be 5 months pregnant. I bet there isn't quite a celebration like it 😂

QueenofallIsee · 07/12/2018 21:39

Hi lovely brides! Getting married next Oct - booked venue, bar, photographer, dress, photo booth, hair - lots to do! I’ll be cracking down in the new year for sure

CurbsideProphet · 07/12/2018 21:58

@QueenofallIsee wow I'm impressed you have all of that organised for October. I don't think I can really afford to spend more than £600 on a dress, so I'll be hoping for January sales!

pusheenthecat · 07/12/2018 22:22

@mrsseashell Thanks so much will check out M&S. I had seen a few multiway dresses on Etsy that were about £50 each but then the postage from USA or elsewhere really pushed up the price. Plus talking to my bridesmaids I didn't want a multi-way that had an exposed back so they couldn't wear a bra.

mrsseashell · 07/12/2018 22:24

@CurbsideProphet lots of beautiful dresses within that budget at wed2be

CurbsideProphet · 07/12/2018 22:40

@mrsseashell I've had a look at Wed 2 Be, but I really want a tea length 40s / 50s (I'm short and don't suit the more modern dresses) and they don't have any designers or styles that I like #bridezilla Wink Grin

mrsseashell · 07/12/2018 22:42

I have a tea length from wed2be as we are having a ceilidh and I want to be able to dance. Also have a very dramatic full skirt to go over it for the day Grin

QueenofallIsee · 07/12/2018 23:07

The dress is a biggish part of the overall budget as I am an older bride and knew I didn’t want to wear white/ivory/champagne. I am having a dove grey gown with ombré tulle so it gets darker toward the bottom - i am made up with the sketch’s so have high hopes for the dress! We are trying to keep it local and I am super lucky to have an amazing designer with a local factory in my home town! People travel to her for miles so I really am blessed that she is on my doorstep

blueskiespls · 08/12/2018 07:14

@pusheenthecat have you looked in monsoon? Have gorgeous girls and ladies bridesmaid dresses

blueskiespls · 08/12/2018 07:17

Wow @QueenofallIsee that sounds beautiful and how lucky to have that in your home town Smile I got my dress from a little shop that was moving premises. So I gave them a cheeky offer on a lace dress that originally was way out of my budget!

Secretsquirrel101 · 08/12/2018 10:51

Went dress shopping ‘for ideas’ on Thursday, fell completely head over heels for one I tried on... £1200 Shock it’s literally going to be worn for one day, so I’m struggling to justify the cost.. better keep looking, and hope someone happens to be selling that particular dress second hand (checking Facebook and eBay slavishly 😂)
On a happier note, we’ve booked our florist! She’s amazing, focussed on seasonal flowers and more of an informal style, and so reasonable. Initial quote of £250 for my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, 2 flower girl posies, some hair flowers (not sure on style/amount yet) and 10 buttonholes.

loveiseverything · 08/12/2018 11:19

@Secretsquirrel101 I'm having the same problem lovely. I can not justify the costs of some of these dress for the sake of one day. We have children, I'd rather keep the money back for them. I get married beginning of feb but I'm still going to wait until after Xmas and hope I can find a perfect sale dress. I'm refusing to pay the ridiculous prices. My partner has told me not to worry about the cost of the dress but I have priorities and those come in the form of little people I'd rather treat

Secretsquirrel101 · 08/12/2018 11:22

It’s so tough isn’t it loveiseverything especially when you fall in love with one particular expensive dress 🙈 my fiancé is the same, he’s telling me to spend whatever as long as I love it, which is sweet and would be so easy to do, but I can’t justify it in my own head. I bet you do find your perfect dress in the sales! I’ve got my fingers crossed for you 😘
