BBC Weather - Hurricane force winds across UK

This came as a bit of a surprise this morning! I've been outside and it's definitely a bit drizzly but no wind to speak of. I think someone at BBCW has pressed the wrong button 😆

I guess it will be corrected when the office folks clock on after 09:00.,

Compared to some we are fine. We are only getting 3886 mph winds.

My area also coming up as hurricane force wind, with rain. It’s actually dry with blue skies.

Remember folks, there's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.

In 2019 it was integrated into an American weather services company, DTN, which is also owned by TBG AG, and rebranded DTN, with a European HQ in Utrecht.

I have 27,000 mph winds coming. Do I take the prize for windiest place? South coast of England and we often get strong winds so...

On the plus side my predicted temperatures are normal!

I am due to fly from Heathrow tomorrow- if the wind’s in the right direction I might just get my umbrella out and fly Mary Poppins style.

In all seriousness, when there really is a hurricane elsewhere on the globe, I'm surprised they've left it up for hours while they work on it.
Someone from BBC weather tweeted "it should be obvious from the impossible wind speeds" but a lot of people probably won't know what is a normal wind speed for a hurricane and what isn't.

I'm afraid I disagree with this.

These wind speeds are quite literally impossible. If anyone looks, sees 1600mph winds and thinks that's possible, that's on them.

I doubt whether many people even look at the wind speed. They just see the words "Hurricane force winds".

@Chersfrozenface and presumably you then notice you can't hear the wind blowing, look outside your window and see there's no hurricane, and realise it must be a glitch?

They have a banner now on the app saying they’re experiencing issues.

Or you think you're in the eye of the storm. 👀

My weather is showing a 3 digit wind speed figure because the other digits don't fit in the bubble.

Same on mine but is says they’re experiencing issues and taking steps to resolve it.

Or you take it that "weather forecast" refers to the weather that is expected to arrive at a future point, so not the weather outside your window this second.

Same where we are. All this focus on Florida and we have winds over 10,000 mph!
